Truly the unsung heroes of 3-day weekends. The check-in process? Retro chic. You gotta show up in person and buzz in like you're entering an exclusive club... if the club had bars and sadness instead of cocktails and DJs. Now, let's talk payments. No Apple Pay, no debit--strictly old-school cash vibes. I haven't touched physical money since 2019, so finding an ATM was like a scavenger hunt through the 7 circles of inconvenience. Bathroom review: 5 stars. Spotless. Seriously, I've been to brunch places that were way sketchier. I almost wanted to hang out longer just for the facilities. If they ever list this place on Airbnb, I'm booking the bathroom suite. Would I come back? Hopefully not. But if I do, I know I'll be hydrated and comfortable. The food delivery person asked why I stopped eating and told him such. He went and got me a phone call and that's how I got out. The food deliverer is more ethical than the devils who run the place.

And due to my hilarity, I was able to make the deputy administering the breath-test to get it wrong, making it inadmissible in court. Bonus! There's a healthy amount of pornography pasted to the underside of the bottom bunk in each cell and the staff is more than happy to give you a cell on your own should one be available. Another bonus is that, unless you're a 100LB methhead, it's likely you'll be bigger and better at fighting than anyone in your block. Hooray! My only complaint is the rude 5AM wake-up time, poor game/book selection and grubby telephone that didn't really work.

My son has told me he never wants to go back but that he will miss the staff and some kids he met there. When I went to visit, I could sit right by him and rub his back... I felt sad for my son but knew he was facing his consequences there. It seemed low key during visiting but i don't know how he felt when he had to go back to where he came from. Another positive I noticed was he was attending school inside the facility.

He was purposely moved to a less than ideal shift because they' are trying to force him to retire. That is not an assumption. He is not the only officer to be targeted. There are several lawsuits pending where officers are alleging discrimination. Deanna Nollette, gender/sex discrimination. Denise "Cookie" Bouldin, race and gender discrimination, settled for $750,000 in February 2026. Eric Greening, racial discrimination and retaliation. This was settled in 2025 for nearly $1 million. John O'Neil, racial discrimination and retaliation. Settled in August 2025. Lauren Truscott, Valerie Carson, Kame Spencer and Judinna Gulpan: four women who sued together alleging sexual harassment, gender discrimination and hostile-work-environment claims. Their case settled for $2.6 million in June 2026. I do wonder if the entire workplace is poisoned based on these lawsuits.

The parking garage is easy to navigate, there is an amazing sculptural piece outside the glassed eastern lobby wall, and the interior itself is open and inviting. There is a manned customer service desk which I really liked (these are a dying breed in many City halls, as many municipalities have cut these employees and services, due to budget cuts). I was transfixed by the travertine floor which is inlaid with a variety of multi-shaped materials in various images. There is clear signage where to get various licences and do various municipal businesses. There is a lovely cafe/coffee stand in the lobby, and it seemed to be a popular place. The only reason I did not assign 5 stars to this beautiful facility is because of the parking charges. Thankfully, they will validate your parking if you are there on any official City business or if you are attending a City meeting there. Otherwise, it's exhorbitant (I think the rate is $25 for up to 3 hours, if memory serves me correctly). Wow.
