Haircut end-product: 3/5 Overall experience: 1/5 I normally don't stray away from my main spot, but wanted to try out and support other local businesses... Appointment system is easy to use and I booked for the first appointment with Lindsey for 9AM. She comes in a bit late, so I don't get cut until around 9:10 which is completely fine. I show her a picture of what I want and describe what I want her to make sure she cuts off. The first round, the cut honestly was really bad, so I had to let her know to blend certain parts more, so overall the cut was salvageable. Why the experience was 1 star (or less). A senior by the name of Joe comes in around 9:25, telling Lindsey he would wait in his car. He comes back in around 9:35 and sits right in front of me. Really close, less than 6 ft away from me. At this point, I know this old fart was going to make my experience more fun :D As I'm telling the barber how to cater to my cut, my good friend Joe starts shaking his head, making loud sighs for the next few minutes. I ask him if he has an issue. And he says that he was supposed to get a haircut 10 min ago. I let him know that I started late, and that seemed to shut him up. In the meantime, the barber is silent. Good friend Joe decides to leave and say he will come back some other time. As the barber is finishing up my cut, she also sprays my eye with alcohol at the end...doesn't say anything and just hands me a tissue. Overall, the only positive here is the ease of booking. I'm surprised my barber didn't say anything to good friend Joe, but hey, if that's how you are with new customers, I don't plan on coming back. This should be widely known: for barbershops with appointments, they will generally be pushed back, since different haircuts take longer amounts of time. You can never really get the timing right, unless you allot an hour, and don't take any other customers during that time. read more

Wondercuts is really doing everything possible to ensure their customers aren't infected with the virus. They make sure you take an appointment on phone or their website so the place doesnt get crowded specially on weekends. Once you are there if they are still working on other customers they ask you to wait in car or outside the barbershop. When its your turn, they replace a new plastic on the chair to avoid any traces from previous customer and hand you an information form to capture your date and time of visit along with the contact number if they want to trace you due to any other customer's infection. I was cutting the hair myself for past 8 months and this place just felt really safe to eventually go out for a haircut. They have a team of 3 barbers, I was helped by Tony who was sharp, excellent and quick. He is very cautions about trimming your hair while also ensuring you have your mask on. Using the scissors with the gloves on must have been a challenge for him but I did not see him struggle anywhere and it was just perfect. They only accept cash so make sure you carry cash and tip them well. I'd surely go back to Wondercuts again. read more

I'll start by saying, I've been supporting wonder cuts for the last 5 years. They're usually amazing. Neil and Leslie are amazing barbers!! Today the owner (a short Vietnamese man) was the only one available so I followed the COVID-19 rules and braved a seat with a new barber, something I'm always nervous about. Long story short, the owner is very arrogant and over confident. He doesn't speak English very well and he does not want to listen to your needs. I told him I've been growing my hair out long for 8 months and just wanted my hairline cleaned up from the stragglers. Very simple request. Should have been a 5 minute cut. Within 2 minutes, after he finished cleaning up the back, the owner buzzed off the side, really high. I never asked for the sides to be cut or trimmed or anything. I asked for a clean natural hairline. In the end, I left with a taper fade on the side with a mullet looking top. Luckily, I asked Neil to finish the taper fade so it doesn't look terrible. Neil salvaged what could have been a terrible situation. When I tried to explain the misunderstanding to the owner, he did not want to take any feedback and kicked me out of the shop because he was so embarrassed for his mistake. Neil was nice as usual and didn't charge me for the cut. Wonder cuts is normally amazing! But definitely stick to Neil or Leslie. Don't give the owner a chance to mess up your hair! read more

I generally tip extra so it still comes down to a cheap $21, which is still cheaper than Super Cuts (dislike that place very much). I generally pay for more haircuts, BUT have found many pricier hairstylists in the South Bay to butcher my hair or give me disappointing haircuts for $40. Damn.... it's AS WORSE AS trying to find an emotionally available guy to date in the Silicon Valley. I came to this barbershop per a friend's recommendation. All I can say is that I am very impressed with the service and skill of each of the barbers. I have gotten a haircut from Lindsey, Nhien, and Tony and they all provided me with the haircut I wanted. You just need to communicate what you want and they will deliver. I have been going to this barbershop since 2016 now. I have decided that Tony is my go-to barber because he always delivers exactly what I want and at this point in time he knows what to do without me even telling him. He is efficient with the time you have with him without sacrificing quality and skill. He's even made suggestions that I didn't ask for that improved my hairstyle. I understand that it takes time to get to this level with a barber but once I got there with Tony, I stayed loyal. I have moved to four different cities since he first gave me a haircut and I still make the drive to get one from him now even though I live 50 miles away now. I make a whole day out of it. If that isn't a testament to his skill then i don't know what is. The shop is also kept very tidy. They abided by COVID regulations pretty well through the pandemic. One star for poor customer service. Made an appointment online specifically for a women's cut at 9am with Nhien. Arrived at the shop and was told to wait. A man walks in at 9:15, preps the chair and a few minutes later, walks over to me to tell me that he doesn't do well with women's hair, to have me wait for the women who was at the time, seeing another client. I answered "okay, I'll wait." Few minutes later after that, he comes back to tell me to come back after 2pm. I left the salon around 9:30am without a cut, and without support. I guess leaving without service is better than having an inexperienced "barber" attempt to cut my hair. If I can't be seen, tell me instead of wasting my time. Juggling between kids and a busy work schedule is hard. Making time for myself and then driving through heavy rain to go to a rejected appointment is insupportable. I guess if you're a guy, this is the place for you. If you're female, we'll, you'll have to wait. That's how I felt at Wondercuts. First time here and was assigned Tony (old dude). I'm growing my top out to achieve a topknot, went in and asked him to fade the sides and he did decent. Problem was with alignment.. My hair was previously sectioned already so all he had to do was tie up/separate my long hair and cut away, but he managed to misalign the back and I had to ASK him to cut off more of the long hair to even it out... Worse part, he also misaligned my temple area, making my forehead look wider and uneven. I noticed while I was already on my way home and called to ask if I could come back to get it fixed, went back immediately and he tried fixing it. Odd thing was he asked me if I thought it was even or not, shouldn't you be the one to make sure it is...? Honestly, it's still uneven but I didn't bother to go back again.. The photo shows how uneven it is even after I went back to "fix" it. If I hadn't gone back, the right side would've been even lower, possibly passing the white line! In the end, my sides will grow back out so I'm not too upset, but I probably won't be a returning customer. read more
