Visited: Apr 27 2019 I really had low expectations coming here; my parents raved about this place and they made this a mandatory spot for lunch when we cross the border for our shopping excursion. The parking is ample and the outside looked a bit dated. I've personally passed by this restaurant many times over the years but never had an urge to dine there. We were seated quickly and because it was the weekend, the price is set the same ($17 pp) regardless of lunch or dinner. On to the food. I was actually blown away at the variety and quality. Everything was ginormous; chicken wings, the oysters, the prawns, roast prime rib and duck ... oh my. Lots of seafood, which I love. I am estimating there were about 48 different "trays" of hot/cold food (including dessert and salad) There's no way we can get this type of AYCE for $17 USD back in Vancouver. We had passed by this place many times the past two years, but it was always closed due to Covid regulations. A week or so ago, we noticed it was open with a lot of cars in the lot. That night we thought we would give it a try. We have been to several Asian buffets, and this was not a lot different. The place was busy but with plenty of seating. The selections were many and all looked appetizing. Our only regret was that we had arrived on the Seafood Night. Neither of us are much for buffet seafood but we found plenty of other options to fill our plates. The food was constantly being refreshed and was hot, attractive and very tasty. Quite a large selection of foods, salads and desserts. One of the best Asian buffets we have visited. We will be back. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE! Decided to treat ourselves after over 2 years of not eating out 'across the line'. SO glad we did! As soon as I walked in I smelled the familiar smells. The buffet looked exactly like it did pre-Covid. I could hardly wait to fill up my plate. Huge selection of dishes including some sushi rolls (very tasty). Some seafood, which is always a treat. Large salad bar and desserts available. Items were replaced and filled up regularly so food was very fresh. Servers were pleasant and attentive. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. I didn't feel like they deserved a tip and we're Canadian and with the exchange rate it was already an expensive meal. We are staying in Bellingham this month and wanted to try a good seafood buffet. This one was pretty good for the price. They had a good selection and everything seemed fresh. We went for dinner and I got baked oysters, sushi rolls, baked mussels, crab legs, clams, chicken, sausage, shrimp, baked roast and green beans. They had a lot of other selections I didn't get to try but everything looked good. The only thing that wasn't good was the melted butter (for dipping the crab legs and craw fish)... it tasted very oily and burned. They also do not refill your drinks unless you ask, or replenish the crab leg and oyster supply very often. Other than that, it was fine. The staff was nice enough. There used to be like three buffets in Bellingham but now this is the last one left standing. Even though there's no longer any competition they didn't skimp on the selection. You should however skip the Japanese sushi/rolls entirely and just head directly to their seafood offerings. I mean, that's why most people come here right? From oyster motoyaki (note oysters still attached to their shells so definitely not from a bucket) to crab legs to shrimps, you name it they probably have it. As buffets go, this one is a winner. We eat from the seafood bar and it's always consistent.

If you want to destroy yourself on good food court type food, this is the place for you. Parking is available in the lot around the building. One thing I really enjoy about these types of buffets is that they're not limited to just 1 ethnicity. In other words, the food is all sorts of Asian, and then some. Sushi bar? Check. Roast beef? Check. Desserts, noodles, fried chicken, crab, salad? Check, check, check, check, check. The food is of decent quality, but the quantity is where this place shines. Special mention to their rib section. Instead of having individual bones, the tray contained what was basically 2 full solid racks, or basically 1 entire pig. I was ready to cry. See photo. I also don't know where they get their salmon - the giant solid fillet was easily over 20cm wide and 40cm long. I was tempted to take the whole thing and eat it like a pizza. Everything else is huge here. I had a great time hacking a baseball-sized amount of roast beef onto my plate. Yes, they let you cut your own pieces. Be sure to make room for the dessert as well - the fruits are pretty fresh, and there is an ice cream machine (anyone remember King's Table from back in tha day?). To drive home the fact that this place is Asian, they even give fortune cookies at the end. After trying the competition (I've heard Super gives this place a run for its money), I have no problems coming back to destroy myself yet again. Recommended. read more

Drove from West VANCOUVER to here since I heard good reviews about this Buffett. If you are coming from the US/Canada border I recommend going to the Lynden crossing so that it is just a straight road going to the restaurant. Once you find the restaurant you will see the sign "Wonderful Buffet". It is a small Buffett compared to the others I've been. They have a variety of sushi, seafood, chicken, meat, vegetables, fruits and let's not forget you can create your own vanilla/ chocolate ice cream. I rated this a three because of their fast service when food is running out. They take about 5-8 mins to refill and get more food if they see a selection running out which is really good! I recommend coming here if you are craving something cheap and different. The price is about $20 per person so it's not too bad read more

This place hasn't disappointed my tastebuds yet... so far the seafood has been consistently fresh and lots of choices. I love their crayfish dish and the clams! Place is often very crowded with Canadian shoppers and Mexicans. The price isn't' bad but the food is very limited, salty, and lacking much flavor.Selection in the salad bar is quite basic with a little bit of coleslaw, small amounts of lettuce and so on. They have what I think is a scam going which is disturbing. For dinner, they typically have roast beef. However, it's limited. Once the slab of super dry, overcooked meat is gone, they don't replenish it. We have been here a few times and never seen any duck, sometimes ham, but never Prime Rib (it's roast beef). They would never serve Prime Rib here, it's too expensive, even the lowest grade which is what Wonderful Buffet would buy. Turnover of the other food items is often terribly slow or they just leave them empty. The vegetable fried rice was completely empty for a good 20 minutes. We saw only two "cooks" in the kitchen and one woman swapping out trays of food. Clearly, there's not enough people. The weekly price at the time of writing is $16 plus ta 8.7% tax. Weekend prices are better value at $17 but you don't get anything more. Drinks are extra. Floors near washrooms are often very wet and slippery. The Wendy's drive thru next door has a constant steady stream of traffic. You might want to go there instead. Otherwise, ensure you arrive here as soon as they open or don't bother coming here at all. read more

I love buffets! I was in Bellingham on a road trip and wanted to try a new place. I was worried because Wonderful Buffet only got just over 3 stars. I tried it anyway and was VERY pleasantly surprised. The Thursday night I was there was fairly busy. The food was fresh and diverse. My stomach was full before I could try everything I wanted. Not really any kind of greetimg when u walk in just a "how many?" got smiles though and the people waiting the tables were friendly. We were seated right away and drink orders taken, it only took a few minutes to get the highchairs and drinks. We did have to ask for the water again. There is a great selection of foods, everything from fried rice to squid. Most everything was fresh, some of the fish for the sushi was iffy looking. The only things i had issues with was the fried rice was bland and some of the fried items were a little mushy. No one ever asked if we needed drink refills and we all did however they are only $1.25 and that left more room for food so no biggie really just got thirsty. For 7 people it was $130. read more

I have always ordered take-out and they're food is "okay", nothing great or special. They always fail to leave out things like crunchy noodles except for that last time a little over 1 year ago when they tasted like they were coated with some kind of foul tasting, bitter chemical. Maybe that's why they stopped. They have also been inconsistent in including a fortune cookie several times. The last time I ordered online from them, they used an outside processing service for my credit card and 2 days later there were $1800 in travel charges on that same card that weren't mine. Never, Never going back! This is a terrible place of hygiene and their service! Tonight I was having dinner with my family to celebrate Min-Autumn Festival. We were having a good time and the time just flew by. Without any warning about closing hours previously, the owner started spray chemicals in the air. WHEN WE WERE STILL EATING! I stood up and asked what's going on, they told us they are closing! It was 8:35 pm, 5 mins after their closing time!! They didn't even bother to come to our table and just tell us, instead, they just spray chemicals in the air which flew into our food!!! It was definitely the worst service I've ever experienced. After my 1st bite, I looked at all the patrons there and thought to myself: "how can people eat this garbage?" Then I realized, "no...it is I who is garbage; and garbage cannot eat its own kind." Poetic, no? Moving on, their Chinese selections consists of countless variations of greasy...chicken (eg. spicy chicken, broccoli and chicken, deep fried chicken, etc.). People were all flocking around the crab and crayfish bins; the former was mushy like spoiled mashed potatoes and the latter was salty to the point of bitterness. Highlight of my meal: observing the Japanese-looking sushi chef standing behind the sushi bar and discovering that he's actually Chinese...sushi was also abysmal. Kudos to their soft-served ice cream machine of whom I decided to name Doug. Good job, Doug. You shat out some really great chocolate that night. Yum. read more

I was coming home from my monthly grocery shopping day in the states when suddenly my tummy started doing the two step shuffle.. so i decided to stop by Wonderful Buffet. It looked like a little hole in the wall restaurant when u first look at it. i mean common, who would name their establishment "WONDERFUL BUFFET" my first thought was "is it really that wonderful??" To my surprise as soon as i entered, the smell of Chinese/Japanese food wafted in the air.. we were then greeted by two lovely hostesses who showed us to our table. Small from the outside but very spacious in the inside. The Buffet was a delight with a number of items such as teriaki chicken, oyster motoyaki, king crab leg, stuffed mushroom, crab claw stuffing, lo mein, general tso's chicken, fresh baked salmon, steamed clams, a sushi chef making fresh and unique sushi and the list goes on... NOW lets break the food down shal we? Pork Gyoza- these babies were HUGE!! full of flavor and u didn't even need the sauce! Sushi- very stylish the chef even made a cali roll into a triangle sandwich of some sort.. very cool and tasty Crab claws- i've never had these before. it was like it had stuffing inside i loved it! Crab stuffed mushrooms- Awsome taste, wasn't slimy at all and had a little crunch to it. Oyster Motoyaki- it had a little sourness to it, didn't enjoy it as much :( Overall, i was "wonderfully" surprised and happy about this place. We don't mind coming here for a meal. On a Saturday night for $13.50 person, it is cheaper than mall food after a long day of shopping. They have a large selection of hot items that is constantly changing. Sushi station with many types of sushi and rolls. We really enjoy the large oyster motoyaki, and clams with ginger onion wine sauce, lots of cold crab legs for you to pick through, mussels, salmon, 3 different ways for cooked shrimp, a roast, calamari, chicken, duck, lots of veggies. Huge salad bars and desserts with fresh fruits. Soda (soft drinks) and juices are bottomless for $1.25 The restaurant is convenient with a huge parking lot and large inside so groups can be accommodated easily. The servers will refill your water, tea (free) and take away your plates constantly. The customers are constant but you don't have to wait long to be seated. read more

I have been to Wonderful Buffet a few times and have had ok experiences. I take Para Transit so I do not always have much flexibility in time. On Sept. 2nd I went to enjoy the lunch buffet and arrived at 2:45. I know that they run lunch buffet until 3pm. I arrived at 2:45 and was told that I could not get a lunch buffet and would have to order dinner buffet. But I was there before 3, they should have accepted me as a lunch buffet customer. The employee I spoke with was very rude and had very poor customer service. I left without eating. read more

As a small buffet serving Asian foods, this place is extremely well priced and the food is very high quality. The staff are helpful and don't. Other you every minute. In addition, the food is very delicious and has been seen to be making new food constantly so the food is not very old. Their desserts are also very delicious and there is an icecream machine. Most importantly to me, there is a sushi bar here that serves very good sushi and sashimi (evening). The place may seem kind of old and poorly furnished, but for a Chinese restaurant, it is very clean and the food is worth the low price. read more

Haha All the food is fresh and look at the stuff you get!!!.....(below) It's quite a cornucopia of food! When it comes to Chinese/asian buffets I have a very low expectation. If they have a good noodle selection and maybe some good standard protein with some decent dessert I can usually get some money's worth. This place, let me tell you. It highly surpasses any of the cheap chinese buffets I have ever been to. Great selections of food, veggie/protein combos like chicken and broccoli, green beans, steamed garlic shrimp, chicken teriyaki, baked salmon, gyoza and their Honey walnut shrimp! To.die.for. Their food was very well kept, appeared fresh and refilled frequently, it didnt look like it was sitting there untouched for hours. Lots of labels so you know exactly what youre getting. A generous salad bar area with lots of choices from your standard house salad with croutons, to a potato salad and even a sesame octopus salad. They have sushi too, and given I'm from Vancouver I am a sushi snob especially a place like this but it was actually really good and its made right in front of you with the sushi chef rolling the rolls right there. The dessert was good too, lots of fruits cakes and such plus a soft serve ice cream dispenser. They had crab legs when I went but the lady told me it was bevause it was the weekend. The place itself can house a lot of people so good for big groups or parties. It was very clean and service was friendly and fast, they took our plates away in a timely fashion and refilled our waters if it ever reached half way empty. The price decent as well, on a Saturday for lunch we paid $12.95 each and given it was all you can eat with lots of seafood, roasted duck and sushi it was well worth it. The lady had told me dinner and weekends usually offered more seafood so the price was a little higher. Weekdays is normally $8.99. Lots of seafood variety for weekend all day menu for US$17 - lots of fresh deep fried large shrimp, including cold cut, hot walnut shrimp with mayonnaise is really good, baked Oysters are excellent! Clams lack flavour and a bit overcooked (rubbery) then the crayfish is too salty but crab is fresh and tasty. Salmon fillet a bit dry maybe in the bottom tray, the deep fried chicken wings and drumsticks are nice and juicy and crispy on the outside. Baked imitation crab was surprisingly good, baked mushrooms deep fried wontons, boneless chicken pork, the usual green beans and green veggies ate average. They have some nice salad selections including Deserts and fruits. I enjoyed the peaches, lychees, mandarin orange and other goodies like vanilla ice cream and cream puffs, so overall a 6.5 stars out of 10. For the value and overall quality and variety, it is worth the US$17. read more

The hot food and selection is good but..... The sushi :-( and I'm not comparing it to a regular sushi places sushi. I'm comparing it to other Asian buffets that serves sushi that I have been to in Nevada and California. This place has the most unbalanced ingredient portions. Most of all too much rice. Here a California roll should be called a Southern California roll, because you're not getting the whole serving. And the fact that there's a tip jar at the sushi station, I hope it goes towards sushi lessons. I have eaten here 3 times and the sushi drives me up a wall. Been here in the past and had decent experiences. Went last night and will never waste another cent of my money here again. Avoid this place at all costs, it gave me bad food poisoning. Most of the food was cold and left a disgusting aftertaste in my mouth. The sushi was complete mush and tasted like it had been sitting there all day. Even the dessert was terrible.. the cheese cake tasted sour. For two people it cost me 40$, and I wasn't going to tip because I had an awful experience, and it's pretty over priced. When the "waitress" came for me to sign the check and I didn't put a tip, she pretty much demanded a tip, asking for one over 5 times. I had to tell her no and to leave me alone. She was way too loud and close to me, making me super uncomfortable. If I could give them zero stars I would, this is the worst experience at a restaurant I have ever had. read more
