Customer service was spot on here. The restaurant was filled with students from Brown University which I loved and the workers walked around asking how the food was. Chargers are located at every table against the walls and the bathroom was clean. I got beef ball pho. It was okay, the noodles were good and the broth was extremely hot. Although the staff is very nice and the place itself is pretty cute, the food is just so-so and a little over-priced. I've tried the fried rice, pho, pu pu platter, and a couple of the noodles dishes. All the noodles were lacking in flavor, but still decent. The pho is pretty good and the fried rice is your basic-chinese-takeout fried rice, but the pu pu platter was a little hit or miss. I love the crab rangoons and scallion pancakes, but the egg rolls were sub par and the meat was a little tough. Overall, the food is decent but nothing extraordinary. I have ordered from Wongs Kitchen in the past and it was about a solid 4 stars consistently. More expensive than your average Chinese delivery spot but it didn't matter to me because you could taste the freshness even if their menu was a bit more limited than others. But recently I ordered delivery and my partner and I were extremely disappointed and confused. The chicken was literally like balls of under cooked batter with no meat inside of some pieces. The beef and broccoli had a strange after taste that was a bit off putting. I hate to give a bad review but this was just such a fail across the board. The shrimp fried rice had these soggy shrimp that literally tasted like undistinguished mush. It was all so bizarre because we have never had an experience like this with them. I really don't mind spending money on really good food, but this didn't do it for me. 43 dollars for 2 bowls of pho, 2 waters and a order of dumplings. Adding it all up it was 36 dollars without the waters... there was no price for water on the menu so not sure. But 7 dollars for 2 bottles of water doesn't sound right. Pho: My brother and I are pho junkies and I've always wanted to try it from here. The broth tasted very watered down with little flavor. There was no Thai basil and we were given Italian basil that looked and felt old. The pho was 12 dollars and to add shrimp it was an extra 3 dollars. My brother got a beef and beef ball noodle soup, and he was given one beef ball that was cut in smaller pieces with very little meat. Unfortunately, the broth also tasted watered down with no flavor. The usual spot I go to charges 8.95 for a bowl and has more meat then that and a ton of flavor so the pho here was very disappointing. There was almost no broth and so much noodle too. The presentation was very nice and cute though and the spot feels very comfy. Dumplings: Steamed dumplings were very good and the order came with a decent amount of them. Recently moved to Providence so (naturally) I've been trying out the Chinese takeout places in the area. We got Wong's last night and not only is it the closest Chinese restaurant to my apartment, but it is by far the best. I got a shrimp dish and gone are the days of the tiny weird Chinese restaurant shrimp with too much breading. These were fresh jumbo shrimp, and they were so freaking good. The vegetables were fresh, my order was ready super fast, and although a little more expensive than other restaurants in the area, well-worth it. Wong's is the new spot! read more

We love the Pho at wongs kitchen! We will literally take a 50 minute drive from school and come to providence just for Wongs kitchen. The broth is tasty, it's always hot and fresh. And sometimes we order their chicken entrees as a compliment to eat with the pho . Also one pho bowl is enough to share with two people, if you get another entree to eat with the pho. It's nice to grab some extra bowls and have fun eating pho together. What we do is get small extra bowls and scoop out little bits of noodle and broth and put it in your individual bowl. Then put the spices and veggies you want. Continue to put noodles as you finish eating what is on your bowl. read more

Context: I've eaten here over a dozen times What I got: I won't list everything I've tried here, since the list would be a bit ridiculous and there's no way I can even actually remember, but in my opinion there are only two real pros to this place: 1. Great service. The workers here have always been incredibly polite and they have thrown in some extras from time to time. It makes me slightly upset to write a review with a low score due to this, but I find the food quite underwhelming. 2. Convenience. The steamed hot table is quick and easy and the actual location itself can be a godsend at times. Despite these pros, the food simply isn't very good. There are, as with any Chinese restaurant, better and worse dishes. However, across the board Wong's tends to be mediocre to sub-par. From their pho to their dumplings - the menu is huge, but typically falls flat. Final Word: Wong's is too convenient not to go to at times when I'm just craving some rice. However, if you have the time, definitely go to Yan's down the street (for better American-Chinese food) or Chongqing House on Wickenden (for something more authentic). read more

This was one of the highest rated places for Chinese delivery in the area so we decided to give it a whirl. Everything was monotone in taste and greasy. There was nothing to be excited about and I threw out most of what remained on my plate. The crab Rangoon was a limp Rangoon with no crab, just cream cheese. The veggie lo mein tasted as if the vegetables were cooked in oil. Salt and pepper shrimp had flavor but was heavily breaded and fried with a syrupy sugar sauce on the side. The vegetables in the egg roll also tasted as if they had been cooked in oil. And the pork fried rice was bland. The only redeemable thing were the wings - which had some flavor. The food and staff here are both exceptional! They offer a steam bar option which is really great for indecisive people like me who can't make up their minds for the combo plates! The General Tso's chicken is AWESOME, the spare ribs are to die for, crab Rangoon is DE-LISH, and the egg rolls....I could eat for the rest of my life! Upon further investigation (ie another late take-out dinner kinda night), Wong's is really not that special. I mean I knew it wasn't great... but they really let me down this time! A lot of Asian places on Thayer taste pretty similar... in a lot of dishes they use overpowering sour, sweet, or spicy flavors to mask the actual flavor of whatever the dish is. Similar places include Chinatown on Thayer, Yan's, Ganko Ittetsu Ramen, etc. This last visit at Wong's I didn't get my go-to crab rangoon (maybe that was the problem)! I was starving so I ordered a combination plate of pork fried rice and general tso's chicken. I have had their pork fried rice before, and it was not too bad just a little too salty (the rice was exceptionally dark). This time, the rice was hard... it tasted old / like it had been sitting out all day. The pork is really just tough char siu and there's not much else to the fried rice. The chicken was fine, but any Chinese place will have some decent general tso's chicken. If Wong's ever has any good deals on Snackpass, I'll probably be there (since I am, as they call it, a "broke college student.") However, I'll only be there for the deals! If I had any amount of disposable income I'd be going somewhere else for dinner, no doubt about it. read more

Hmm when I walked in and looked for vegetarian options they were few to none. I'll have to go back and look again. Most vietnamese places have at least vegetarian Pho but it looked like all they had was beef based Pho. I'll take another look now that they've been there awhile and update my review if that's changed. Otherwise no reason to go if you are a vegetarian. Came here after hearing great things and they did not disappoint. This is a wonderful little family-run place with a beautiful atmosphere and delicious food. Their crab rangoon is by far the best around and their pho was both generous in portion size and flavor. If you look at my reviews, you'll see that I get pho a LOT, and theirs is by far the best for miles! My friend got the sweet and sour soup and it was also delicious, a generous portion, and beautifully presented. Wow! Check this place out. So many food options and so little time and not enough belly! First thing I noticed was one of the workers there. I watched him as he took care of what seemed everyone in that place! All while not skipping a beat! Then he came by to check on me. I asked what he would recommend and he listed off a couple of apps and the pho. Of course, being Vietnamese, I had to try their pho. I wasn't disappointed. I typically try pho out before any condiments are added to see how their broth is, again, I was pleasantly surprised and only added some lime and murdered that bowl. Jimmy came back to do his rounds, he took one look at me, then to where the pho used to be, then apologized for bringing me an empty bowl! I laughed so hard I let one rip. But he was cool about it. Great place for pretty much any meal. They have steam table options which are pretty good and super convenient/filling if you're in a hurry. I tend to get their chicken teriyaki though, which is definitely one of their best options. It comes with white or fried rice, a portion of vegetables, and of course hibachi chicken. Really nice people. I really enjoyed the enthusiasm about opening a new restaurant from the family. They care enough to have a personal conversation with you about what you'd like to see on the menu and about how things are in general. I got the seafood pho and it was pretty good except it there wasn't enough seafood in it and there weren't any vegetables. It was good because the noodles are cooked properly and the broth was really good. It was some of the best broth I have ever had and I have studied with accomplished chefs. I would add like three pieces of broccoli and maybe a couple of carrots to the soup, it would be a really great seafood pho. For now, I would probably go to Pho Hoa I. Pawtucket. It's right around the corner from LA Fitness. I'm giving it four stars because they're still sorting out their menu and they were such nice people that I'm sure it'll be great in a couple of months. read more

Was in Providence for a few days and craving Asian food. This place delivered, so it was a no-brainer to give it a try. I went with the beef pho (based on all the rave reviews) and added the orange flavored chicken to meet the delivery minimum. Delivery was quick, which was nice because I had to skip lunch at work. Beef pho came piping hot. The broth smelled SO good, but unfortunately, it didn't taste as nicely as it smelled. It was a bit bland and I didn't have any salt or seasonings at the hotel. The sliced beef was nice and flavorful. I don't normally like the onions in pho, but theirs were very soft... just melts in your mouth. The orange flavored chicken is as expected, very nicely flavored. For delivery, it isn't bad. I wished the pho tasted better, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt that it probably would've tasted better at the restaurant. Hope to try it in person next time! read more

My husband and I miss our West Coast vast Asian cuisine selections and stumbled upon Wong's when making a trip to Providence - we both were so happy we did! Located near Brown University, it's a great place to grab lunch (once you can find a parking spot) for an authentic Asian cuisine experience (that one can find in RI). Menu is packed full of great choices that'll make both your heart and stomach happy. Staff is very friendly and restaurant is very clean as well with plenty of seating. A good choice for real Chinese Food. I have visted several Chinese restaurants in providence and found some are just serving American-Chinese Food... If you want to have a true Chinese food, Wong's is a proper choice. I really like the beef noodles and Teriyaki chicken. Chicken wings is the only weak point in the menu. read more

I have searched all of EP for a place to order good Chinese food, and after trying several local places we called Wongs in PVD they fortunately delivered to EP, although a long wait to delivery, the wait was well worth the reward.
