Chinese restaurants in Massachusetts are truly the unsung heroes. Reliable, comforting, and delicious. Wong's has been a family favorite for years. Service is good. No issues. But the starter sampler is the real gem here. The ability to pick four of their starters with a huge amount of food. Our family popped in for the pork slices and were not let down.

Steak & Cheese egg-rolls

Third time visiting this place in many years. I sat at the bar which seats approx 8 maybe 9, there is also a couple of small tables in the bar area I have never seen the dining room I was driving by and I remember people saying - you have to try their mai tai's The mai tai lives up to its reputation pretty good I also order (2) steak and cheese egg-rolls Although they were tasty, I didn't find too much steak- mostly hot melted cheese. I wouldn't order them again I'll try something different the next visit A local restaurant that has been around for may years Stop in and have Mia Thai or two !!!

We had given up on Chinese Food as (The one that's the Name of a Precious Green Stone) a mile away Had several owners Prices kept going up Quality kept going down. The last time it was inedible. Uncooked yet still Burnt. :( dripping in grease reheated SUPER OILY DARK RICE. In this economy If you're paying for Takeout it should be at least descent. As you can see from my photos Everything was fresh not dripping in grease & Large portions. I wish I had taken a photo of the rice. It wasn't the DARK REHEATED STUFF many places give you. It light in color moist and perfect, FRESH lots of pork. I only wish it had a little egg in it. We ordered plain pork fried rice so maybe that's why. No complaints though! My Sesame chicken was delicious great sauce not overly sweet and goopy like some places. My husband enjoyed his Egg Fu Young very much. Crab Rangoons were perfect, Fresh crisp not greasy. The Boneless Spareribs were ALL MEAT! I was shocked. They weren't the Little scraps of Mostly fat many places serve you. I can't comment on Atmosphere as my husband picked up takeout so I left it blank. He said they were pleasant & Friendly. Sadly Prices keep going up on EVERYTHING especially with recent tariffs. This isn't the cheapest place, but Definitely worth the price and the Best we have found locally without going into worcester. So glad we took a chance here! We will definitely be back.

I remember helping the couple who owns it's son with his homework when he was like 8. Today we had some free time over the holiday break and decided to take a little road trip back to Upton. Our first stop was Jade Garden. Before we got off 495 we called our order in and I honestly got teared up hearing the familiar voice answer the phone. We placed our order for way too much sesame chicken ( the best around ) and swung by a few local spots before getting our order. I haven't been to Upton in 7 years and I was happy to see the most that had changed are a bunch of sidewalks and a lot of the houses getting new siding. We swung but Nipmuc and I pointed out the few landmarks. We went down Glen Ave and he was delighted by the bonkers up and down zig zag it is. We tried to go to Country Sooper but it was closed. We went by Memorial which looks totally different and past the Grange where I told him about the blocks long line for the haunted house. I'm getting off track. Upton was my home for so long. I've been away for 15 year and 7 years or so fully since my parents moved. It was wonderful to come back. Jade Garden is exactly the same. I mean that in the best way possible. Same recipes. Same booths. Same carpet. Same women answering the phone. Go to Jade Garden. The food is great. The portions are bonkers and the family and local love is felt. Go here.

To be totally honest, living in the area for 5 years we never tried Cheng Due before mainly because…read moreof the low ratings in Yelp. However, last weekend we decided to give it a try because some times we need to give the benefit of the doubt to some places and judge them by ourselves. Well, to our surprise we had a very pleasant first experience at this place. Starting with the ambience, the restaurant has a nice sophisticated and inviting atmosphere. Everything was very clean and organized in an elegant way, which caused a very good first impression. Continuing with the food, there is a variety of options in the menu, mainly Chinese (of course) but also a Japanese section (sushi and other items). We ordered from the Chinese options...For appetizers we ordered the Thai Spring Rolls, the Scallion Pancakes, and the Boneless Ribs, all of them very delicious. The Scallion Pancakes have been the best in terms of texture that we have tried in the area. Our only recommendation would be to add more scallions to the dough so they can taste more to scallion. The flavor of the Boneless Ribs was very tasty and their texture was tender, not chewy as we have tried in other places. The Thai Spring Rolls were interesting, flavor was good as well as the texture. As main entree, we ordered the Orange Crispy Beef and the Sesame Chichen and found both very delicious. The crispy beef was the first time we tried something like that in the area. The amount of sauce that they used in both dishes was not too excessive and the tenderness of both the beef and the chicken was very good. Regarding drinks, we ordered a Piña Colada and a Polynesian cocktail, both with very balanced flavors. The only recommendation for the Piña Colada is to try making it more frozen and not with too many ice cubes. The flavor was pretty similar to an authentic Piña Colada (we are from Puerto Rico, the place where this drink was born and have to admit that the flavor was good); making it more frozen would give the final touch to make it more authentic, in our opinion. The desserts menu was not extensive at all, only one option available which was the fried ice cream. We decided to try it anyway and found it very good. In terms of the service, it was acceptable. Our server did a great job taking the order and not missing any item as well as serving our table on time and accurate. He wasn't smiling all the time, but he was respectful and polite, enough for us. I would say that if you are in the area, you can give it a try. For 5 years we avoided this place, and unless they changed something recently I have to say that we like the experience and are planning to go back. We don't do late dinner regularly, so we went there around 5:30 pm, which we don't know if that could have made any difference in everything.

Weekday lunch with not much of a crowd. Lunch combinations made it easy. -- Hot and Sour Soup: Tea-colored and thin and somewhat watery, but the heat and tartness still came through. Decent amount of mushrooms and tofu, without much variety. -- Egg Roll: Crisp outside, moist inside. Mostly cabbage, with some gray pebbles of pork. Not much flavor here, so it really needed the duck sauce. -- Orange Beef: A generous portion for a lunch combo, with bumpy semi-crisp surfaces, and somewhat tender meat within. Think of them as miniature chicken fried steaks. The flavors in this dish were impressive, blending spicy, sweet, and tart. Orange, peel, onions, and other little nuggets added complexity. A little gloppy, but someone who likes this dish would like this dish here. -- Fried Rice: Very light of color and no additions other than egg. Moist and fresh, but bland. Zero flavor. White rice would make more sense (and maybe even more flavor). -- Pork Fried Rice (full order): I ordered an extra to go, to see how it compared against the lunch special rice that wasn't that special. Still light and a little lacking in flavor, but an improvement with the pork and other additions. Fairly average. Decent enough meal, reasonable value, but flavor and/or texture was a little lacking on some items. Worth another look though, thanks to the Orange Beef and the atmosphere.

The staff are busy working - and this is very much a "DYI" establishment (screens to order on your own food, menu boards on LED screens) - but they are still very friendly & helpful if you need something or have a question. I ordered the "Sweet Soy Five Spice" stir fry bowl (with a few customizations). The portion? Perfect. The flavor? Fantastic. The quality? Amazing. While it is a little pricey, I don't feel too bad about paying for great quality food in such a nice location. It definitely has that "casual upscale" vibe, in a good way. They have a good rewards program which I'm always a sucker for. Also, they have a handful of fun dessert & cold entree options that I definitely plan to try when I return. One of the coolest things was the QR code on the bottle of water I got - it led me to a page with one of the chef's recommended "secret menu" items. Just a nice touch - something my marketing brain is thankful for! :) I will certainly be heading back here sooner than later. They may have just earned a "regular" customer with me!!

Happy to see there were some high chairs available, too. We got 2 regular Create-Your-Own Stir Fry with noodles. The garlic butter sauce is unparalleled. Our meals were wonderful and so fresh tasting. The kids meal was great but it was put in a take out container while the adult meals were in eat-in bowls. I'm not sure if that's how it always comes or if they were out of small bowls. But it was hard for the kids to eat out of. Don't love that the only fruit option was grapes because I didn't have anything to cut them with for my toddler. We got a couple desserts to go - the banana pudding was good concession to not having a Magnolia Bakery around here. Definitely would get again. The Cobbler was also good but there was a lot of yogurt and not enough other stuff. Overall, while on the pricier side, it's definitely worth it. I would come here again and again. There was one employee who was super attentive and helpful - I wish I noticed their name! But the experience was great.

Now back in the area, I've had two recent combos at lunchtime in a near-empty dining room. -- Hot and Sour Soup (n lunch combos): Sufficiently hot from pepper and lightly sour, with still-slightly-crunchy vegetation including a few kinds of mushrooms. Tasty broth that tastes slightly meaty. The best part of both meals. -- Sweet and Sour Chicken (on a lunch combo): Only slightly crispy and VERY slight amount of chicken within each piece. We often talk about chicken-to-batter ratio; this serving had the lowest I've ever had-- which I'd expect at a rough and tumble over-the-counter joint with pictures of the food on the walls, but not here. Thin, sweet sauce with a few cherries, stems intact. Aiight. -- General Gao's Chicken (on a lunch combo): Orange nuggets, well coated with a mildly sweet sauce, no heat, and no contrast to the texture or sweet flavor. Not crisp. Smallish pieces, decent quantity, but not tender or juicy. Reminiscent of a frozen product if not one in actuality. -- Pork Fried Rice (had with the Sweet and Sour): Midrange in color, lighter in flavor, closer to Rice-a-Roni, with onions, peas, and mini pork cubes. -- White Rice (had with the Genera): Fresh, solid, no issues. Service was minimalist on both recent visits. On one, the server was in the kitchen the whole time. On the other, the server walked away while I was in mid-sentence-- twice. At $16 - $17 with no appetizer, a bit much for a lunch combo, which should have some value. I also don't see the quality I used to encounter here years ago. Although the Chinese joint across the street isn't much better, there are many dining options in the area, so I don't forsee a return. Note: This isn't a referendum on authenticity or style. I like every Chinese style and every degree of authenticity as long as the food is good within that breed. This one isn't, but that's just me. Dateworthy, yes. But please-- take her someplace else.
