Food was abundant for the luncheon plates. Owner, and other staff all seemed a very pleasant family run business . Young son or grandson my waiter was respectful to my dining experience and I saw how he sat talking respectfully with the owner who mentioned she had just returned from a Hong Kong trip. I saw a review from someone who had visited and his reviews were positive; so I needed to try . I ordered the luncheon special number 24 with beef teriyaki, chicken fingers , rice, and lobster sauce. I wanted to try the bbq spareribs, and order pork strips. Well, first they give a bowl of fried won tons with a duck sauce ? These were excellent and wonder if the restaurant made these. There were very tasty . The luncheon special portion was huge with a lot of rice which was ok; but a rice a roni type texture vs. soft and moist. The bowl of lobster sauce was surprisingly very good and some of the better Ihave had elsewhere. It was not too salty which I liked. The chicken fingers were reheated and just ok, a bit greasy . Beef teriyaki was two huge slices of tender beef and very good, but a bit salty . A bit more ginger flavor I would have liked; but no issues eating these. My order of ribs was their only one size, and would have liked option for a small side of Ribs excellent char, sauce, 1-2 ribs have no meat; but the number of ribs and others were all good. The pork strips were a nice quality tender pork and very good, but were very cold on arrival . But; I preferred less cooked than being too dry or overcooked. Better cold and moist as these were vs. dry. I anticipated anyway reheating at home at least half or more of this gutton size luncheon ordered meal. A soup with the lunch special would have been nice and less of main portion and rice . The duck sauce was nice mild flavors but too watery for my liking. The pineapple pieces with the fortune cookie was a nice touch to finish the meal ending. Old school and solid food, portions and nice family run operation. Two solid return visits, both weekday lunch, at this mostly-watering-hole joint with an old school menu, combo plates all day, and apps in two sizes. -- Barbecued Spareribs (appetizer): Very thoroughly painted with the red glaze, but with cross sections unpainted to reveal juiciness in addition to the glaze. Good flavor to the meat, which pulled off cleanly with minimal effort. More char would be more impressive, but as is, near-elite. I preferred these to the Roast Pork Spareribs tried last time, but would get both again. -- Boneless Ribs (appetizer): Went with the small size and still got a more-than-ample portion of 3-inch strips. All had a good coating of the familiar bright red glaze, plus a pool of thinner brown liquid with honey notes underneath. Just a hint of dryness on some of them, but more were moist. Captivating flavor suggested some combination of five spice and hoisin along with the red. Well above average. -- Lobster Sauce (on a combo): Served in a separate bowl on the plate, with very dark liquid, fairly large and tender pork crumbles, and no other flourishes. Simple, mildly oystery sauce, a bit runny, not salty, and piping hot. A little above average. -- Chicken Fingers (on the combo): Four very lengthy and very crisp fingers with good meat-to-batter ratio and a light but very crunchy batter about halfway between tempura and what you usually get. Elite, and one of the best renditions I've ever had, though the fingers on the Sweet and Sour weren't as good. -- Pork Fried Rice (on the combo): A little light and a bit of a Rice-A-Roni feel, but very moist and fresh both times, with plenty of pork nuggets and onions. Above average. -- Beef Teriyaki (on the combo): Two sticks, meat deceptively thin, almost no char, but mildly pleasant flavor and very tender. A little above average. -- Sweet and Sour Chicken (on a combo): Six fingers, just as crisp as the stand-alone ones, with nearly as good meat-to-batter ratio, but less of a tempura feel. Cherries and pineapple chunks, but a little light on the sauce, so I asked for extra and it came out delicious and hot. Dark ruby color, intense flavor, like a thicker, darker grenadine dialed to an 11 on the flavor knob. Well above average, though more for the sauce than the just-above-average this time. -- Chicken Wings (on a combo): On combo #11 with Sweet and Sour Chicken, you get three whole wings (that's six pieces once split), a generous allotment. Tight, crisp skins, dark from cooking as well as the applied lacquer. Strong five spice presence and good moistness, with some pieces full-on juicy. Near-elite. Bonus points for: - A bowl of crisp nacho-like chips made out of a similar recipe to chow mein noodles, plopped on the table with a ramekin of duck sauce before the ordering. It's tough not to finish them all. - Appetizers in two sizes for many. - Combo plates available at lunch and dinner. - A top notch duck sauce that's neither too light nor too dark. Think tea color. Good flavor. - A server other than my own noticing my empty water glass and filling it up on her way to the kitchen. - Pineapple chunks served with the check. And tingly sweet. There's something they're doing to make them really pop. But just having any is a thrill and a throwback to the days of old when it was a common practice. read more

The mai Thai had a weird flavor probably from the bag it came in. Extremely disappointed! The delivery guy was super nice and professional, best part of the take out order for sure. Chinese restaurants in Massachusetts are truly the unsung heroes. Reliable, comforting, and delicious. Wong's has been a family favorite for years. Service is good. No issues. I sat at the bar which seats approx 8 maybe 9, there is also a couple of small tables in the bar area I have never seen the dining room I was driving by and I remember people saying - you have to try their mai tai's The mai tai lives up to its reputation pretty good I also order (2) steak and cheese egg-rolls Although they were tasty, I didn't find too much steak- mostly hot melted cheese. I have been here many times because of convenience, but I wouldn't recommend it otherwise. I wouldn't even say it is typical Americanized Chinese food. It is rather worse than that. Most dishes are swimming in sauce. Honestly, the quality is pretty standard for the area though. It seems like you have to travel to Worcester for anything good. Service for takeout is usually speedy. There was only one time I had an extended wait, so I wouldn't recommend Friday evenings for take out. We had my youngest grandson's birthday party at Wong's on Saturday and it was perfect, from making the reservation by phone until we were packing our meals to take home. Lisa was our waitress, very efficient and genuinely interested in serving us. She brought appetizers as guests continue to arrive, took drink orders, brought pitchers of water and spoke to each guest as they arrived. The pot stickers were the best I have ever had, and the ribs disappeared as soon as they were on the table; same for the Mai Tai's and Pina Coladas. The crab rangoons were absolutely over the moon (four orders were almost inhaled they were so good). I had never been in the big room before but it was perfect for our loud family and guests. It was the first time this group had gathered since a funeral last summer, so it was especially nice. We will be celebrating birthdays there from now on! read more

No frills. Don't go here for frills. Fancy atmosphere? Not here. Comfortable? Check. Great staff? Check. Amazing food? Check! We live much closer to another Chinese restaurant and the food is very good at our other local place. Solid food, solid quality. Only complaint was price - it was HIGH compared to all others within about a 20-30 min drive. Wong's was recommended to me and I'll tell you - DELICIOUS! We dined in once, shared the "tidbits" plate and oooh... so good. Not greasy, not overcooked, not rushed. Delicious. So we've gotten take-out a couple more times since and we've been impressed with the portions and quality both times. They are now our new go-to. It's worth the extra 20-30 min RT drive. Highly recommend. It's clear they have a following, lots of people at the bar area eating and drinking each time we've been. Take-out is pretty busy. Definitely worth a ride. Normally I would say their food is good. Tonight the food was the worst we have ever had from there. The egg foo young was almost inrecognizable. The gravy, which is usually a nice brown gravy, was all dried up. We don't know what was in it. It didn't look like any egg??? We ordered the steak and cheese rolls...first time. We don't know what was in it, but couldn't find steak and have no clue what the cheese was. The rest was not very good either....We should've thrown it all back in the containers and brought it back. We tried eating some of it. Hope we don't get sick. They're probably getting rid of their leftover food, because they are closing for a week. Never have we gotten food this bad there. read more

It's honestly, and sadly, some of the most basic/worst Chinese food I think I've ever had. I gave a second star only because the staff is really great! You WILL get awesome customer service here, and the bartender makes a great cocktail, but that's about it. Being new to Grafton, I started coming here a little over 4 years ago because they had the best rangoons in the area. Sadly, each time I've been back over the last year, it's gotten progressively worse. Their brown sauce was CHUNKY and coagulated. Absolutely horrid. Their veggie lo mein is packed with giant green bell pepper chunks that take up a lot of the portion. Last time I dined in with friends, everything was just dripping with grease. Tonite was the last time I'll visit and I'm sad because I wanted to give them one more chance, and they were the only ones open. My take out was horrible. Luckily they offered a refund. King Jade 2 in North Grafton is where you should be going instead now. Everything's always on point and their pricing is the best in the area. read more

I asked her about the crispy orange beef $17.95 if it came with rice. She said no. I'm pretty sure every time I've ordered crispy beef, Which is my favorite, I've gotten rice but I opted not to order that for that reason. And decided to go with something simple. I ordered chicken fingers, boneless ribs, and rice. My friend ordered chicken fingers, beef teriyaki, lobster sauce, and lo mein. They were both on lunch special menu. We received the food fairly quickly. Maybe a little bit too quickly. My boneless ribs were absolutely cold. I think they were only heated through the rice touching them. The rice was absolutely piping hot along with the chicken fingers. When I ate the cold boneless spare rib it kind of ended my meal. I ate a few Fork fulls of rice but I was done. The server came over and we had told her that they were cold and she asked if I wanted anything else made up. No. I was done. I may be harsh but if something as simple as serving heated food can't be achieved without a second chance , then there is something bigger going on there and I didn't want any part of it. Besides being cold the spare ribs didn't show how they were cooked they weren't charred in any way, so I guess a quick one time in the oven on a day that wasn't today? I don't know how it was cooked. The beef teriyaki my friend had was the same issue. It had no char, it was soft, and pale. Do you like turtle lo mein and the chicken fingers. The lobster sauce was not Lobster sauce. That was definitely ground beef in beef gravy. So they have decent reviews on google. But I guess Wong's just isn't for me. They had great duck sauce though! read more

Wong's used to be great years ago, but not in recent years. Quality is way down, and prices are up. We always drive out of Grafton now over to Foodworks for our chinese food orders. I think that is by far the best Chinese in the area for quality and pricing. Pearl Cafe would be our second choice in the area. Don't like the quality of the meat at Wong's mostly and the pricing is too high. It's too bad Wongs couldn't be the restaurant they used to be. Maybe different owners? You can't use cheap product and jack up pricing and not expect people to notice the poor food. read more

The best Chinese food I have ever had. The beef sticks are tender but do not lack crunch on the corners. A punch of flavor in every bite. The crab rangoons have more crab than I was expecting and I prefer theirs over the "famous" egg roll lady in Worcester. The rice and lo mein are both exactly what'd you expect in my opinion it's the consistency that deserves attention on these sides. I have had dozens of orders of both and never one time was it off! The chicken wings are crunchy and slightly larger than normal Chinese standard. Orange chicken and General Gaus are both large portions of tender breaded white breast meat. BUT ABOVE ALL!!! I have 3 favorite spots for Chinese food and Wongs is the best of them all. Their crab rangoons have just the right crisp and softness. The filling is perfect- slightly sweet with a lot of crab unlike most places. Everything on the menu is great. Chicken wings are extra crispy and perfect marinade. I really enjoy eating at Wong's. It's hard to find pork strips and BBQ ribs at Chinese restaurants nowadays, but they still have them (usually places only carry the boneless spare ribs). The food was delicious; lots of flavor. The place is a little run down with the feel of a dive bar, which is great because those places are slowly disappearing, replaced by fancy, yuppie joints. Sure enough, the bar was crowded with regulars all chatting with the bartender. Definitely give this place a try for good, flavorful Chinese food and/or a good, stiff drink. read more

I started eating at Wong's when they first opened years back. I was very impressed with their service and passionate attitude about their fare. Everything was fresh and organic and carefully prepared. Someone would always ask you about your experience before you left the place. They asked for critiques, suggestions, etc. But sadly, something changed a couple of years ago and their quality has steadily declined until now I won't go there anymore. I have given them quite a few chances and have been let down further each time. Their prices are high and the food is so not worth it now. It looks carelessly slapped together and there is very little flavor even in the boldest dishes they offer. Honestly, one would think a disinterested American short order cook is running the kitchen, following handwritten directions. Maybe the ongoing pandemic has had an effect on their ability to strive for quality. But I will not be eating at Wong's again. read more

Alright, how did this place get three stars? This is my first review, and it is for the reason of defending Wongs as the best Chinese restaurant in this area (but maybe in general). Let the crab rangoon speak for itself. It's there for you when you need it -- always great, always reliable. My heart goes out to the egg drop soup that's loaded with veggies. Our family returned home late and decided to try Wong's Chinese food. We moved to the area two weeks ago and checked Google and Yelp reviews prior to ordering. In hindsight, the lowly 3.5 stars was actually kind based on our experience. The food was, at best, average. The price for two adults ordering delivery was about $30 with a $2 additional delivery fee (someone should let the delivery kid know this when he tells you the price that is several dollars more what what you're told on the phone). We waited over an hour for two small dishes and two small sides. The small "meals" cost upwards of 10-12 dollarsand didn't even include rice. No, I'm serious. No pork fried rice. No white rice. No rice. So we ordered a small pork fried rice. It literally was white rice with a few pieces of onion, and slightly browned with soy sauce. I've never tasted such bland or uninspired fried rice. The kicker... In the bag they gave us two fortune cookies a couple pockets of soy sauce and two Italian dinner rolls. Dinner rolls. I am at an absolute loss of words for how much of a ripoff this slightly-below-average Chinese food place is. If you're looking for half-complete Chinese food dishes that are priced 4x the market value and come less than 2 hours after order, Wong's is the place for YOU! Seriously though... I'd eat expired condiments from the bottom shelf of my fridge before I order from this joke of a "restaurant" again. read more
