We have been coming here for many years and we have never had a bad experience. The lady behind the counter always has a smile every time we come by to pick up our food. Their lunch special is one of the best deals around and is always so delicious. We will occasionally order the "Beef Ho Fan" and the "Singapore Rice Noodles" and they are one of the more authentic style around the area and always delicious. Take out hot and sour was lukewarm and flavorless, even with multiple dashes of soy sauce. Chicken chow mein came not with chow mein noodles but tortilla shaped fried wonton. More liquid than substance. Zero condiments, utensils or napkins came with it. To return would be a waste of my money. Shame on them for, hours later and after reading this review, tracking down my phone number, calling me and trying to bribe me into removing the review with free food. I have been coming here since 2021 and so far for the most part it has been pretty good. A very good variety of Chinese food in Japanese food. I absolutely loved their eggrolls and their other various platters. However, upon recently going there, there have been some ongoing issues that have been occurring since fall of last year that have not changed. My biggest complaint is honestly the dining room area. They do not have proper heating in this building and any time that we have gone there. They have one small space heater that they will turn on only if a customer comes in and it takes forever for it to turn on. You basically don't warm up until you're finished with your meal because the place is kept like an ice box. Another thing is they do not serve soda and glasses and they put their soup in Styrofoam bowls. They used to use actual ceramic bowls and now they have gone back to plastic utensils and Styrofoam. To me there is no excuse for that and that looks very schlocky. If this is primarily a takeout place and they don't wanna put in the extra effort to make it a decent sit down restaurant then they should just close off the dining area and make it strictly takeout. Lastly, pricing is pretty reasonable, but the quality of the food has certainly gone down since last fall. I feel that my food has just been saturated in grease and they are not using fresh ingredients anymore. I could get myself a microwavable Chinese food dinner at my grocery store and it would cost less than what they are charging here. I do want this place to succeed and go back to what they used to be. Hopefully by me putting up this review, this will give them the initiative to do so. I don't wanna see this place disappear, but they have to do better. read more

I've been ordering food from here for years and have always been happy with their food, intil recently. it made me wonder if they changed hands. I called in an order fir two different dinners plus a side and had it repeated to me to confirm. After taking my orde home (no way to check the food at the restaurant due to its packaging) we found both the dinners were exactly the same so one of us didn't get what they could eat. And even then the dinners we received weren't made they way they've been made every time in the past. the chicken wasn't coated or fried the same and the sauce was totally different making both meals only fit to eat as we were hungry. So either they are under new ownership or they have a new cook, either way I give them one more try before giving up one them. If this was just a fluke I'll change my rating to the higher score I held them to in the past. read more

Used to be a lot better. The Shangi-La restaurant was our "go-to" restaurant until recently. I am sorry to report that our last meal was not good. The Teriyaki beef was inedible as it was undercooked, had a bad flavor, and was discarded. The Kung Pao chicken was almost tasteless with a wilted, rubbery, consistency. Even the Pork Fried Rice lacked flavor. Please note that we were not ordering at a busy time. Our order was at an off-hour where they should have had plenty of time to do it right. The food actually tasted as if it had been cooked before, allowed to sit, and then reheated. This is not acceptable, especially for the price that we paid. Seriously consider going to another Chinese restaurant, or be prepared to be disappointed. read more

Great food at affordable pricing in my one horse town. Food freshness, taste and quality consistently served always; I've only done takeout. Friendly host(ess) and is always caring to ensure satisfaction. I am vegetarian (hopefully no cross contamination) and never tasted remnants of meat sources in taste of food. They are quick to have your order ready before pick up, but traffic always will have an effect on readiness. Nonetheless, I have not experienced timing issues on orders placed online! read more

One of the best standard Americanized Chinese restaurants I've been to in Metrowest. The chicken fingers weren't too greasy and tasted outstanding. MSG is simply not bad for you and I imagine that is what made them taste so good. Had New Year's dinner here and it was so busy with people waiting for take out. My family and I had walked in and sat down at a table. The staff was clearly busy but was still able to seat us and take our order quickly. The wait for the food was also quick. I had chicken with mushroom and pea pods. It was in a delicious light sauce and the portion was huge, but I ate it all. My husband got a combination plate and was in heaven. Our friend got the chicken with mixed vegetables and he was very happy at how fresh and light it was but filling. This is my go to for takeout lately! They usually say 45 minutes to an hour but are at my door within a half hour with hot tasty food. Stand outs for me are the shrimp fried rice and crab Rangoon. The shrimp is full sized shrimp not like other places that use the tiny ones for their rice. And the crab Rangoon are big and crispy on the outside and overstuffed with filling. So good! read more

We ordered the beef hoo fun and the Mongolian Beef lunch special. The hoo fun had the smoky flavor we enjoy. The hot and sour soup was flavorful. The Mongolian Beef was delightful. My husband and I were looking for delivery Chinese food close to us on a notoriously busy Chinese food day. The wait times for delivery said 75-90 minutes but the food came hot and fresh at 60 minutes. Delicious food! We got the scallion pancake, beef teriyaki, shrimp dumplings, sweet and sour chicken, and shangri la chicken. Everything was delicious!! We will definitely be ordering from here again. I waited at the counter 15 min for them to bring out my oder and when I got home it was cold. I only have a 5 min drive. Last time my order was home delivered, it took over an hour and was also cold. Tried three times before reviewing because I've had to make updates at least a couple of times. Every time, I felt like I was having some of the better (American) Chinese food of my life. I'm pretty much an appetizers and General Tso's guy, but all of it is high quality. For example, pork spare ribs- I generally hate them- always chewy and fatty. Not here. Tender and tasty. They deliver, and they'll deliver to Shrewsbury! If you want "real" Chinese food, maybe this isn't for you. But if you want the comfort food that you probably grew up eating on special occasions, Shangri-La is the best there is in a the area. read more
