I was a patient of Wood Dental for 3.5 years before I moved out of the Buffalo area. From the very beginning, I was always extremely satisfied with the service and care I received. I needed deep cleanings and gum care when I first arrived; they put me on a plan where I came in four times a year for cleanings rather than just twice a year, to ensure that I received the best care possible. I had other services done, like removing/replacing mercury fillings and fixing old fillings that had cracked. I was always happy with the work done. I even received a call one night after-hours from Dr. Wood when he could tell I'd had a particularly rough time during a procedure, just to make sure I was feeling okay. I was always impressed with the technology in the office; it seemed like every time I went in I noticed something they'd added or something that I'd never seen before in previous dentists' offices. My hygienist, Amanda H, is also highly recommended. In addition to being extremely professional and competent, she would remember things about my life and ask me about them during my visits. She swore she never took notes, she just remembered! And this wasn't just because I was coming in four times a year so I was a more recognizable face; my husband only went in twice a year and she'd remember personal details about his life, too. My only "complaint" is that the patient chair in Dr. Wood's procedure room is MUCH more plush and comfortable than the normal chairs in the hygienists' cleaning rooms. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Wood and his team. I wish I could give this review a million stars. After 14 years of struggling with chronic sinus issues, cystic acne, and inflammation, a CBCT scan showed several hidden jawbone infections from where my wisdom teeth were removed. Over the past year and a half, Dr. Wood has performed multiple cavitation surgeries and removed a root canal. It's been a little over 3 months since my final cavitation surgery and it has completely changed my health. I'm finally breathing clearly, I can sleep through the night, my skin is completely clear, and I feel like myself again. I have nothing but deep, genuine gratitude for Dr. Wood. My family has been with dr wood for 5 years now . And five years later I'm still in "Awh" over his practice . He is always bringing the newest techniques and technology back to his office . Recently my boys (7 & 9 ) had to get fillings and he performed them with a laser, they felt nothing ! I have have never met kids who are more excited to visit the the dentist ! Go to him only if you have good teeth already. I have bad teeth. He made them worse. Having bad teeth means I have a lot of dentists to compare. He's won out for worst against the incompetent arrogant ass I had at the Columbia University Faculty Practice who put a broken bridge in permanent cement in my mouth and then had to smash it out with a hammer. Yup. A hammer. And, I once had a guy in toupee (I had the opportunity to peer into at close range for hours at a time while in the chair) in Chicago who was so bad at a root canal i fainted during the procedure. But nobody has done so much bad work in so little time for so much money as Dr. Wood. He talks a mile a minute and seems engaging but he's not listening. In fact, he's watching TV. I don't know any other professional who watches TV while he deals with a client. Imagine if your lawyer, internist, or accountant watched TV while he/she tended to you. There are many officious, meretricious theatrics in this practice. Computer sign-ins, redundant texts and emails to confirm appointments, an aquarium. Sure, he's got memory foam chairs, but it's not much to comfort your behind when he's in creating searing pain your mouth. There are blaring color TVs in every treatment area and more than one in the waiting room. During one appointment he and his assistant watched and conversed about the verite of Bernie Mac while they worked on me. Another day, I was left trapped (by something setting in my mouth) with "Special Victims Unit," that episode featuring incest and murder. I suppose I should be grateful it wasn't about a dead or raped child, the other usual subject - I abhor that show even when I'm not at the dentist. During the height of the pain he did text me to ask how I was. Unfortunately he couldn't make it better, he made it increasingly acute instead. I have asked him for a refund on all the work he did that I had to have redone and/or fixed. He admitted he owed me when he handed me my chart on gray day last winter. I have yet to hear from him since writing him with my total cost to remedy the painful mess in my mouth. His office ladies are nice. read more

Snake oil sales man. HORRIBLE front office. Over billed and they refused to give the money back. I had to get my bank involved. I went in for a cleaning because I needed that anyway but had lingering pain that had not been resolved from another dentist, which I was thought was going to be a root canal. I arrive, he said "you don't need a root canal, you need a deep cleaning with a periodontist. Went to the doctor he recommended. THAT Doctor said "Yes you need TWO roots canals". So I went back to the dentist and he referred me to a endodontist. THAT doctor did an official test which included him putting dry ice on my tooth and then smacking it with a metal object to make sure it hurt (which it did). Then he concluded I needed one root canal right away and a second one soon. So I went back to the dentist and finally got a cleaning. During that appointment he decided to take out my silver fillings and put in new ones which I didn't need. Then had to go back three times because one hurt so bad. He told me my teeth were just sensitive. I finally gave up because the witch at the front refused to give him the messages. She also came into the room, after I had Novocaine and demanded payment before they get started. I had to go to the front with the napkin thing and give her my credit card. It was the worst experience ever. A waiting room with a fish tank doesn't make up for a terrible dentist and staff. Stay away.... read more

I've been going to Dr. Wood since I was a kid, and I have to say - never had a cavity. Dr. Wood is a really friendly dentist who always explains every aspect of the procedure and makes sure I feel comfortable before he starts. Every time I visit his office he's got some new technology to improve his services, making things less painful and a lot simpler. And he takes pride in his work - he's not afraid to take however much time is required to make sure his work is perfect. Have been going to Dr Wood for years now and always am treated with respect and concern. He explains what he will be doing completely and shows you pictures. He did want to change some very old fillings in my mouth but I have resisted this as I did this once many years ago and it did not turn out well. Hygienist has a rough hand - she loved poking my gums! So...Dr. Wood has a nice demeanor with a trusting smile but I truly feel he's a scammer. The stories of his clients that have had miraculous improvements of their chronic ailments due to the removal of their mercury filiings is ridiculous - A true scare and selling tactic. Showing me pictures of the amounts of mercury filling that I have in order to have them replaced with porcelain and/or crowns is not ethical. Those crowns he put on are poorly positioned and the endodontist that he recommended for my root canal was horrible. There are others without the ego that you can hire. BTW - "hire" being the key word here, WE are paying for their expertise - this is not a cheap investment either. I hope this helps. read more

Dr Wood and his Associates are professional and top notch. I'm treated like family. Any question I have is explained in terms I understand. Any dental problem I have is taken care of with the best solution in mind. My last visit was having a tooth crowned. There aren't many places in Western New York where you can have a crown in place with 1.5 hours. Why risk infection with temporary crowns, waiting for the permanent crown to be delivered from someplace else? A state-of-the-art system that makes an exact duplication of your tooth with the use of lasers is the only way to go. I'm always in awe, when I'm watching my tooth being made. I've been going to Dr. Wood for the last 4 years. He's the best dentist I've encountered. He's constantly seeking the latest technology to improve the patient experience and outcome of the work that's done. For example, yesterday I needed a crown, it was created in minutes while I waited with a 3D printer and fit perfectly. The staff is very friendly and Dr Wood is easy to talk to and has personally followed up with me after hours when the situation dictated. Working with human teeth is a sensitive science and art. I went here to have dental work done several years ago and haven't been happy with the results. I had a crown placed that wasn't placed correctly and it offset my bite and created discomfort. The doctor adjusted it 4 times before bringing up the possibility of a root canal. Afterwards I found out that my dental insurance wasn't covering the complete fee for the crown because the information wasn't sent in a timely fashion. This resulted in money being paid out of my own pocket rather than with my HSA like I intended. This was the last straw as the staff refused to do anything about it. My current dentist finished adjustment on the crown in one attempt and had me begin on an Invisalign regiment. My current regiment is almost complete and the side where the crown was placed doesn't completely close like my other side does and I believe it is because the crown is offsetting the side it's on. It feels like when I bite the crown touches first before my other teeth do and I will likely have to have that corrected by my current dentist. The dentist doesn't take the time to look at small details and would rather go into the costly services when they aren't necessary. I wouldn't recommend you go to this place because of its lack of creating a comfortable atmosphere for their clients and its lack of quality service for the money they spend. If you are looking for a compassionate Dentist who is competent and knowledgeable, than look no further!! His staff is the Best! I have had a cleaning, never experienced a gentle cleaning with my sensitive teeth. I had an implant, it may have been scary, but Dr. Wood explained what to expect and his staff was so very caring. I absolutely hate going to the dentist - except to see Dr. Wood! He is extremely personable and his staff is courteous and engaging, definitely helps to calm my anxieties. He has state of the art technology, and he reviews your case thoroughly, answering questions and presenting you with your options. He also makes sure to show you exactly what he is going to fix with a small video camera, so that you know exactly what his concerns are. I trust him completely and would not go anywhere else for my dental care. His hygienists also give thorough cleanings and make sure that you are comfortable during the procedure.
