I'm writing this review retrospectively as it has been a while since I have made it out to Wood Paddle Pizza. These folks are pizza artisans. I always get the Partager Pie -- I hope I'm spelling that correctly -- which is their special craft pizza of the week. You never know what you're going to get with that, but it's bound to be interesting. It's a really special place. Stopped by on a Friday night for date night and although we have been here a handful of times before didn't realize I haven't done a proper review . They specialize in local tap beers and wood fire pizza that's delicious . It's a small place that serves its local community and so happy to find the little gem . We ordered the Armando pizza that has charred broccoli as the star and doesn't disappoint. Truffle shuffle with smoked portobellos that is just a must and also ordered the Mac and cheese of the week that is served over a baked potato that is worth all the calories it brings because it's a comfort bite that brings out the best flavor all in one . Wood Paddle is a rare find, and an absolute GEM. The pizzas are hand crafted with the highest quality ingredients and lovingly baked in a "forno a legna", a traditional italian wood-fired oven. The staff is kind, accommodating, and knowledgeable. Micah and Marissa my servers tonight, have justifiable pride in the food and drink they serve with grace and a smile. 5 stars for the food, the service and the atmosphere. The pizza was great! The service however was not. It was our first time in and we didn't know if we had to wait to be seated or if we just sit ourselves, we waited and were sat within 5 minutes. However, we didn't have another server approach us for 15 minutes, by that time we were ready to order. I asked for water and the server said it was self serve, how were we supposed to know that? Food came out quick, I thought I ordered pizza with prosciutto, I did not and that was my fault. Tried flagging a server down to order a side of prosciutto but that took awhile. Why did a server not come over shortly after we received our pizza to ask how things were? We wanted another beer and had to flag another server down. We were done eating and had to get up and ask a server for our check and a box. Service was terrible. The server who sat us should've introduced herself and told us where to grab water. The server who took our order should've come over to ask how everything was or the server who dropped our food. 3 servers for a 2 person table? A hole-in-the-wall pizza joint that you'll be glad you discovered before they blew up and started requiring reservations. Food nerds will love things like French onion soup and anchovies that aren't what you expected. (Don't knock 'em, just try 'em). Jones soda fountain includes green apple, orange cream, and some blue thing I didn't try. A refreshing change from the Pepsi/Coke duopoly were usually forced to accept. They got TVs like a sports bar but you may have to request a game as the bulk of the fare are Bob Ross and Sponge Bob episodes along with just-beautiful-pictures-of-birds-in-HD. Arcade games too. Oh yeah - the pizza is top tier. Great crust and no skimping on the cheese. Shorts and T-shirt are welcome. Will be going back again and again. read more

Great local spot to grab a wood fire pizza. Gluten free, vegetarian, & vegan options are offered. They also have a wide variety of Appetizers, salads, and sandwiches on the menu. Mediocre pizza and NO wings. How sad for this place!! The best thing was the wood fired wings!!!! both of our pizzas were ultra bland and uninspiring. We found some hot sauces which made it way better but overall... not worth the calories. Seems a beard is required to work here here but no beard or hair nets. A solid pizza joint located in Aurora. Definitely a lively and somewhat divey place that offers great service and excellent pizza. You wouldn't think of it but it's located in a strip mall. if that is a detractor then you're certainly missing out! We ordered the likes of an arugula salad, French onion soup and mozzarella balls. Everything came out quick and hot when needed be. Adding to this, the mozzarella balls came out nice and hot! Same thing with pizza too! Nice flavor, spiciness to the right touch and hot hot hot! Of course I would return! Plenty of parking exists outside in the lot. Everyone from the hostesses to waitstaff add to the welcoming ambiance. Dine in or take out and you'll be pleasantly pleased. I tried this place off a recommendation from a friend. The dough is good, the cheese is decent, and the sauce is terrible. It tastes like plain tomato soup. Plus it was all sloppy. I don't know why the basil for the margherita pizza would come in a separate container. With MAJOR improvements to the sauce it could be pretty good pizza but unfortunately it ruined the whole thing. The worst, rudest service. The short small server was so rude to my elderly friend. I took her there as a treat as it was her 71st birthday and just had eye surgery.. our waitress was so rude. She was really bothered by us apparently. It was my first time going in and I won't return. She needs retraining ASAP. You dont treat customers the way she treated us, like we inconvenienced her. Wishing we could come again before heading back to So Cal! Came last night for a late dinner. Waited maybe 5 mins at the most for a table. The waitresses were extremely friendly! We ordered the burrata with focaccia.. it was to die for!!! Also ordered the blanco and 3 cheese pizza and a salad .. everything was delicious. Tried the local brewery peach wheat beer and it paired nice with the pizza. Fun little spot and when we come back to visit this will be our first stop! Can't wait to go back. read more

Fantastic Pizza, such nice staff, great beers on tap... What more do you need? I tried wood paddle pizza for the first time shortly after they opened, must've been five years ago now. I was quickly hooked! I used to live very close and probably ate there way too many times, long before I ever became a yelper. So I was a little nervous going back for the first time in years because I so desperately needed it would be as delicious as it was back then. But, as we know, all too often quality tends to suffer after so much time goes by. And our tastes can change. Well I am happy to report that neither the quality of their food nor my taste buds have changed one bit! My favorite pizza (Armando) is still fire. If anything was missing some of that fennel pollen flavor that I loved so much, next time maybe I'll just order more. But everything else about it was exactly what I remember... Flavorful sauce, gooey cheese, savory sausage, perfectly chard broccoli! And that crust is SO delicious. I actually ate two slices completely. I usually don't eat the edge of the crust because it's either not good or I don't wanna waste the carbs and calories. But I ate every last bite of each piece! We make our own pizza at home most times but when we don't have the time, Wood Paddle is our go-to pizza place. Their oven-fired crust is good and some of the standard pizza options are quite good! The staff are casual and friendly such that dining in has a bit of a neighborhood hangout vibe, which is perfect for enjoying a pizza. read more

One of my go-to dishes to judge a place is their French Onion Soup. If they can execute this, I have faith in everything else. The French Onion Soup was delicious, the cheese was properly melted, and the bread was great (no need to get fancy, let the broth do the flavor work). Pizza was good, beer variety broad enough. I was skeptical about trying so I wasn't sure how the reviews were even out, but it was a great choice to take a risk on. I got a half-and-half pizza half Blanco half BLT I was able to substitute the rosemary on the Blanco for some roasted garlic, which was an excellent choice. The other person in the party got a meatball hero and said it was one of the best they've ever had and they eat them a lot! We also got a dessert each I got the mocha cheesecake which was unbelievably good chocolate covered espresso beans on it. Oh my goodness it was delicious. The other slice that we got was the seasonal which was a lemon blueberry, which was one of the best I've ever had a slice of cheesecake. Definitely recommend must check it out. read more

Great lunch special option if you're needing a quick meal that isn't fast food! Can't go wrong with a 1/2 salad, 9 " personal pizza, and a drink starting at $13! I tried the Prosciutto Pizza, Caesar Salad, and a fountain drink (love that they have Jones soda on tap). My order said it would take 30 minutes but I think it was done a lot sooner because my pizza wasn't overly warm and my croutons on my salad were a bit stale since I think they had been sitting in my salad for a bit. I picked this spot because they have the big pizza oven but the ambiance of the place is of a dank basement with a wet concrete floor. The tables are crammed together in a small area and the games in the back are ancient (not nostalgic, ancient). The food is just ok and so is the service. Overall wouldn't recommend based on the basement feel and mediocre food read more
