Small spot in a quiet neighborhood. Staff was friendly, very small town vibe here. Came for the Wednesday Wing Special but unfortunately they don't honor that for take-out. We got pizza and garlic bread instead. It was... fine I guess? The pizza and garlic bread felt very generic, kinda bland. Actually the way the pizza was presented made me feel like it was a factory pre-made thing. The crust was too perfectly circular and flat, but really mostly flavorless. During our two-month stay from San Diego, we've previously enjoyed Hero's lasagna, pizza, and service. Tonight, we ordered a mushroom, half-pineapple, half-pepperoni pizza for pickup via a third party. After texts indicating delays, I picked up the pizza, which was cold and mushroom-less. The manager at Hero's was very apologetic, promptly remade the pizza, and added a brownie a la mode. I appreciate her rectifying the third-party's mistake and will order directly next time. This place is definitely a popular hangout for people in the area. I went in last week and the restaurant/bar were packed. Staff was friendly on the phone when I placed my order and they were very helpful once I arrived to pick up our pizza. You can tell they have been open for years, the restaurant does have a stale smoke odor that was very noticeable. The food was not our favorite. The devil dogs were very doughy and chewy, and the Hero's pizza had very little flavor. Surprisingly, the leftover pizza was better the next day, the sauce had a noticeable spice to it that was not present the day before. Overall, I can't say we will be back anytime soon but maybe we will give it another shot someday. read more

This place is a great Aurora staple. It has gone from a dive bar to a delicious pizzeria. The Italian food is made fresh each day from the dough to the sauce. The pizzas are killer. If you are feeling like a salad instead of all the carbs, get the chef salad. Make sure you are hungry because this salad is HUGE! They now offer breakfast as well for very reasonable prices. The staff is great as well. Great bartenders/servers and the cooks do a great job with everything I have tried there. They have poker nights and bingo nights if you want some entertainment. Hero's is definitely a neighborhood gem. The service is friendly and attentive (especially Jennifer) and the food is great. Everything is homemade each morning and I haven't had anything that isn't delicious - especially the thick spaghetti noodles and the pizza with the perfect crust, generous toppings and gooey cheese. Every day they have different specials - for both food and drinks. I never would have found this place if they hadn't started hosting free bar poker twice a week. They have an afternoon game on Wednesdays and an evening game on Thursdays. The tables are set up in the lower area where the video games and dart boards are. Don't do it!! I must say I always check reviews before dinning at a new place and I did read good ones about it but every thing was bad from customer service to menu knowledge bartenders could not make the time to help me with my pick up order and they were not even busy. Food was not only awful but funky smell and completely wrong.. they did deliver the right order that was nice but it didn't really matter at that point the food was just not good.. I should of just asked for a refund instead. Hopefully they will se this review and do the right thing with a refund as I did get a copy of my receipt.. over all very disappointing.. read more

We love going to Hero's! We stumbled upon it close to our house. The pricing is amazing, the food we have had has been delicious and it has the ambiance of your local neighborhood hang out. It's such a cozy atmosphere, everyone knows each other and it's a huge plus that our little one can run around and play the games while mom and dad get a little break and a beer. They host great community events and we've enjoyed our time spent at Hero's so much! read more

Exactly American and Italian food. Great people, excellent service, and awesome food. The sandwiches, pastas (made from scratch), pizza, and appetizers are all mouth watering. There are times when you are just looking for a place to eat and you pull into a little, unknown place and find a treasure. Great food, great service and a great atmosphere. This is definitely NOT ONE OF THOSE PLACES!! Stopped into Heroes based on a review on Next Door and were totally disappointed. The food was terrible, the service was abysmal, and the atmosphere was just as one would expect from a neighborhood dive bar. If you are a local, sitting at the bar, doing Jaeger Bombs, you get excellent service. The food order took over 30 minutes to get to the table and then the order was wrong. The unappetizing burnt fries in the fish and chips were actually supposed to be onion rings. After the cook delivered the onion rings, we both tried them. They had s pretty good batter on the outside but the onion on the inside was mushy, obviously they came from the freezer. The fish looked like something that the Gordon's Fisherman put into a freezer then boxed it up. No taste at all. It became obvious that the whole kitchen is nothing but thaw, deep fry and serve. There is no actual cooking going on in the back of the house. The Lasagna was Ricotta cheese thrown between noodles with no sauce, just mozzarella cheese melted on top. The waitress/bartender brought a side of sauce to the table and the sauce tasted like tomato paste from a can. The menu made light that their sauce was homemade from an old family recipe and I was looking forward to trying it. What a disappointment that was. The garlic bread was totally dry and did not have any garlic on it at all. The sauce was so disgusting that I could not even use it to dip the garlic-less bread in. My wife needed a refill on her water and had to walk up to the bar to request it. All in all, it was a very disgusting meal. I would recommend that if you drive by and see the sign for Heroes Pizzeria and are looking for something good to eat, keep on driving. There is an Old Chicago down the street that has better food at a better price. This place is the consummate dive bar that caters to locals. read more

I have to say there pizza has good flavor but it wasn't the kind of pizza we ordered twice now and both times it wasn't close to what we ordered. So I'm pretty sure we won't be ordering from them again. I tried to call them over 14 time's I so could let them know what had happened but no one would answer their phones We were excited there was a new pizza place in our neighborhood and everybody was saying it was pretty good but they dropped the ball big-time on us they wouldn't even answer their phone. Imagine how many pizza orders and food orders they are missing out on selling by not answering their phones maybe this is something they need to look into fixing if want to make it in this tuff restaurant Business. read more

this is one of the worst bars I have ever been in. after waiting for 5 minutes for a bartender to acknowledge me I did speak up and ask for a couple beers. I was promptly told she would get to me after she was done. Bur for the entire time I was at the bar she was stocking coolers. there were 2 other bartenders that would not even acknowledge me. the sad part is I was there to support a brother biker who went down. unfortunately I left. Ordered takeout. Got the French bread pizza, the sauce tasted like ketchup the bread wasn't cooked. They forgot the sauces for the fish and chips. The brownie a la mode tasted bitter and had whipped cream not ice cream. Not worth it at all. Definitely choose Pizza Hut over this. Especially if you're feeding lots of people. Don't take the chance of 3/3 people not liking their food. read more

First of all this a bar and they have a limited menu. That being said, we started with a very good salad and the service was good also. They have just two spaghetti sauces, red and white. My pasta was a little over cooked, soft. We had both meatballs and sausage, both were good and the meatballs appeared homemade. The red sauce and the sausage are hot (spicy). read more

In these times of trying to re-open restaurants and bars in a safe manner, Hero's Tavern and Pizzeria in Aurora, meets and exceeds this task with both staff and customers. All employees wear masks at all times and frequently wash their hands and they use disinfectant spray to wipe down tables and chairs when a customer leaves, not using a bar towel soaked in a bucket like some places do. This place is great, relaxed, military friendly (part legion) the food and drink prices are amazing (unreal). They host poker, have pool, darts and arcade games. Older group of people but being 27 I get along with that group more than my own anyways. I love Heros. Todd and Karen were awesome as was most the staff. I'm pretty sure that "Heros pizzeria and tavern" got bought out though and now it's something else. It's still a bar and pizza place but I think it's called something else now. If I had to give one piece of advice to people who have never been here, without trying to offend anyone, jus maybe be aware of what kind of crowd hang out in old biker bars like this. For example, my ex husband and his brother were pretty much the first two African Americans I had personally ever seen in there. Again not trying to offend anyone, just trying to be honest so you get an actual idea of where you're going! Look, don't ever judge a book by its cover! I was dying of hunger yesterday, so i stoped by and ordered a phily cheese steak sandwich with homemade french fries and homemade hoagie roll. Let me tell you i was in heaven! With a cold corona it all just felt and tasted amazing! I was extremely satisfied with the prices and the amount of food I received from such a hiden little gem! Crust and sauce for the calzones we ordered were very bland. Very little cheese in the calzone. Italian dressing was Premade and processed. Much better pizza and calzones in Aurora. Don't waste your time or money. read more

My wife and I have been to this bar twice and absolutely love it. We had great experiences both times. The bartender is super friendly and the place is very nice to hang out. By far, the best part is the food. The food is fantastic and the cook has come out both times and spoke to us about about how we want our meals. The price is very fair and reasonable.
