Ice cold beers and 2 studs.

What a great find. Was at a basketball game at the Wayne State field house and was craving a cold beer and a burger... found this neighborhood gem steps away. Amazing gourmet bar food. The service was great, the decor was super cool, the bar was packed, atmosphere was perfect, and the drinks were ice cold. Couldn't have asked for more. I would definitely go back again!!!

Great service with decent food! Loved stopping in here before and after the game and we will for sure do it again! The venue is small and it makes for a great vibe. They have traditional booths, tables and a bar, but they also have bar tops and comfy chairs. A great touch to this neat spot! Note - the spinach dip is not your traditional dip. It's good, just different! * did not try the iced tea

Great drinks and sandwiches both were awesome!! Make sure to get the fancy fries as one of your choices we had the truffle with parmesan. Excited to try the Saturday or Sunday brunch!!

The goal of our evening was for him to take me to as many places I haven't been in one night! He did a fantastic job at making the best of the night despite the bitter cold temps. Woodbridge was on his list so we stopped in for a beer. He got a PBR and I chose a dirty blonde. Can't go wrong with either! I enjoyed the atmosphere. It was warm and inviting. There was a lot to see. Until, of course, I got locked in the bathroom. I mean leave it to me. But clearly this happens all the time. I don't typically bring my phone in with me. But thankfully this time I grabbed it. I had to call my date to help me! The bartender came and got me out. So embarrassing. Ha. But there is always something fun to laugh about. We looked over the menu but nothing really piqued our interest so we chose to move on. I for one won't ever forget this place haha!

    The best birria quesadillas

This place is a gem that makes you feel proud to be a part of the beautiful city of Detroit. The handcrafted cocktails, the staff, and the owner takes so much pride in making this place special for everyone. The food was delicious. We had a large group, everything came out fresh, and perfect. I highly recommend the cauliflower bites, chicken wings with that delicious barbecue sauce that is made from scratch, the roasted Brussel sprouts, and the birria quesadillas. Truly a great place to visit and stay awhile.

I love Woodbridge! Excellent place to stop for lunch or drinks or both! Great people, nice vibe! Located in the Woodbridge district of Detroit on the historic Trumbull across from the Wayne State Football Stadium!

Chicken + waffle from the brunch menu
    Jayson D.

Saturday brunch menu is quaint but thorough as it offers up a nice variety of savory and sweet. I opted for the chicken + waffle entree. Really big tenders were breaded perfectly to leave the chicken still juicy inside. Waffle was decent. The waffle was "gourmet" topped with some sort of blueberry sauce, but I would have been plenty satisfied with butter and syrup. Next time I'll skip the gourmet and keep it classic. But maybe you'll like the blueberry sauce--see what you think! Prices were fair and service was great. If ever I'm in this part of the D again I'd go back!

So we totally found this place by accident, but it is a gem! It was PACKED on a Sunday night like you'd expect on a Friday. The live music was a nice touch and they had a really great jazz line up. (The music is a bit on the louder side, so if that is something that bothers you take note) The liquor selection is impressive, and they also feature CBD infused sparkling waters. The staff/manager was on top of greeting guest, and getting items out quickly. Cleaning tables promptly and just keeping the place tidy! Everything that came out of the kitchen smelled incredible! Cant wait to go back.

Birria hash and chicken and waffles.
    Adrienne W.

Great brunch spot! The live DJ played all the best Afrobeats songs (should've asked for the playlist). I had the chicken and waffles and my friend had the birria hash. The chicken was SEASONED and fried hard. Whose black uncle is back there cooking?! And the orange glaze on the chicken was the perfect balance of sweetness/acidity. I'll be trying the rest of the brunch items and ordering the chicken and waffles again...& again.

The band was excellent! They played all requests from any genre. The caramelized fennel and artichoke dip was amazing. The staff was friendly. It was a really great vibe. The crowd was interactive.

LOL. One of the best parts of the bar is that they offer shuttles to the major venues for their events. Why I usually start here before every Lions or Tigers game I go to. Regarding service, the bartenders are usually fun, and I am a fan of all of them. They provide great service even when they are packed. If you go in wanting fun and a good time, you won't be disappointed.

But if you know crowds are coming when shows let out... you've gotta be ready for it. Two bartenders for a packed bar just wasn't cutting it. I waited about 20 minutes for a drink and eventually just gave up, which is frustrating when you're trying to enjoy a night out. And the one drink I did get earlier honestly looked like a sample cup. The place felt kinda dirty and weirdly quiet (before the rush)? Like super dark (which I get, dive bar) but no music or energy to balance it out. It just felt off. I've been here a few times now hoping it would hit different, but it hasn't yet. If you're the owner reading this, I'd just say plan for those post-show rushes. Even one more bartender and a little boost in atmosphere would go a long way. I'll probably still swing back because of the location, but man... I'd love to actually enjoy it next time.

My sister had the Honest John's hard cider that was on draft. It wasn't as sweet, but it was good as well. I had the grilled johnny john sandwich -- chicken, swiss cheese, tomatoes, lettuce on grilled pita. It was very filling; I only ate half! My sister had the chicken Caesar wrap, with the same result. The fresh, flavorful meals and the downtown vibe make it one of my favorite spots to grab a bite or hang out with friends. That said, I want to elaborate on my not-so-great dine-in experience from before. One night I decided to eat in, and while my waitress was genuinely nice and attentive, the experience took a weird turn when my meal was brought out. The guy delivering it just walked past me, dropped the plate on the table with a loud clank, and didn't greet me or even acknowledge me at all. It was jarring -- not only did it feel careless, but it completely broke the warm, fun vibe I'd come in expecting. On top of that, I had the app downloaded to earn rewards points, but my waitress never added them, which was frustrating enough that I ended up deleting the app. That one visit definitely stood out as an exception in an otherwise positive history with this location. Since then, I've had better experiences with staff, and the food and overall energy of the place continue to shine. Despite that one odd incident, I still highly recommend HopCat for the atmosphere, creative menu, and fresh food. I'll continue coming back and will share more updates (and pics) along the way.
