I was borderline on 3, 4, or 5 stars, as my gf and I (please don't make me say fiancé. TY lol) came straight down the street from purchasing the ring we both love from Shinola on Canfield. We are from Toledo, OH, and are the most comfortable in a good dive. The "you figure it out" approach to the individuals guest experience is always respected and appreciated, and with one of best old school juke boxes Ive seen in years. Other amenities including a fully operational porcelain sink in the middle of the bar for patrons that need a quick rinse (something that I didn't realize was super convenient. Why has this not been adopted elsewhere?), and a giant metal still of fresh water readily available for thirsty patrons (if you can't get it to shut off, plug it with your finger and ask a regular before you really off the bartender, which is to be expected). A perfectly priced order of a beer with a whisky chaser, along with a can of red wine, and an order of fries was the perfect way to celebrate the occasion. Rehashing, once again, our unconventional story led to us trying to figure out what was happening within the different social circles of the room. This was both entertaining and worrisome at the same time (obviously none of our business, but we left hoping the best for everyone involved lol). Not sure if the reincarnation of Log Lady is a regular, but I am pretty sure I heard her say "it's happening again" from the corner of the room. 10/10 recommend after a major life purchase. 4 stars. BEST BURGER IN DETROIT HANDS DOWN and the main bartender that has been there awhile is excellent however don't try to be there when they have their "backup bartender" some older thug from the kitchen, worst bartender i've ever experienced in my life. On the way out we thought we should have sat on the patio but noticed everybody was smoking. Bronx Bar is famous around Detroit for its burger, and for good reason. The ambiance, inside and out, is great. It's a bit rustic with both new and old school elements. There is a pool table, as well. Both food and drink orders are made at the bar. The bartender had a heavy pour, and that's not a complaint. They didn't have ginger beer, so the Moscow mule I ordered had ginger ale instead. The mule was a great compliment drink to my burger, which was easily one of the best I've had locally. It was served on a ciabatta roll, which was softer to bite into than expected. The burger was cooked and seasoned perfectly, as were the fries. My wife got the chicken/bacon/swiss so we could try both. It was pretty good, but definitely not as good as the burger. You could get a similar meal for cheaper elsewhere, but you most likely won't get the expierence or quality that Bronx offers. read more

This is a smaller - but cute- bar in the heart of midtown, equipped with a pool table, old time jukebox, and patio seating. I always have a good time here! Expect average price for a drink... maybe $5-$12 for a drink (depending on what you order). This bar is always fairly busy on weekends, but bartenders are friendly and do a good job at keeping up with customers. They also serve food! How have I never been to this place before? Iconic very old building. Shared a fried bologna sandwich and a burger. Had to be one of the best bar burger I have had. Local watering hole serving the locals since the 1930's. Love visiting this place for the vibe and energy but return as always for the food. The bond burger is well seasoned on a grilled focaccia bread and topped with lettuce tomatoe and onion. It is large and I prefer to use the smash method since the bread is hearty and won't fall apart. The homemade ranch sauce with fresh dill is good with the deep fried portabella slices or deep fried pickle spears. The Bronx is a great little dive bar tucked away from the bustle of Midtown. I often find myself here after enjoying a sour beer at Jolly Pumpkin. There's cramped, paid street parking nearby but I usually mosey over after parking in the free Canfield lot (don't tattle!). Prices are pretty cheap considering the locale. You'll pay $3-5 for most bottles of beers. There are no servers wandering through the space; if you want something, you have to go to the bar and pray the bartender acknowledges you. The more you become a regular, the better the service gets. They've got a small food menu with standard bar fare. I'd heard good thing about their burger and ordered one recently. It didn't have much seasoning and was overcooked. So I might stick to deep-fried staples like fries or cheese sticks in the future. They have a pretty decent amount of seating inside but the real star of The Bronx is the indoor/outdoor patio area. They have a wrap-around porch-style patio and doors that open up into the bar. The downside is that smoking is allowed, so if you're not a smoker you'll want to avoid it. A stellar jukebox and a pool table round out the charm of the Bronx. Pretty cool divey bar in the heart of Detroit. The place is really old school...like 70s old school. I went in for a drink and a sandwich after work. I ordered corned beef, it was pretty good. It seemed rushed however, if the cook had taken time to care about the preparation, I'm sure it would've been better. The bartender also gave us an order of fried pickle spears. I'd never tasted fried pickles...interesting, but I'll likely never have any again. I ordered a glass of rose. I'm not sure of the brand, but I was underwhelmed. It also seemed flat. I shrugged it off because I didn't expect to receive a great glass of wine from this place. I doubt if many of their patrons order rose. The beer selections seemed pretty cool and plentiful, if you like that sort of refreshment. What I really enjoyed was the music. The jukebox was jammin' with old school hip hop. I grooved the entire time I was there. The prices were inexpensive. Street parking is available if you can score a spot. I would imagine that this place gets rather busy. The burger, black been burger, fries and mushrooms were all spot on. This would be a little honey hole that I will keep on my list to stop in and get next time. Ordered fries that never came, cashed out and the bartender told me he forgot to ring in the fries. I told Him to forget it as it had already been 45 minutes. Then fries were brought to our table. I figured the bartender sent them over as an apology, as I've worked in restaurants for years and this is something we've always done when making a mistake. The guy dropping off food then brought over a burger which was not ours and we told him that. He continued to yell at us, telling us the fries go with the burger and we never ordered fries so we shouldn't have ate them. As stated before I did order fries. I explained the situation and he stormed off to speak with the bartender, who then came over to tell us we had to pay for the fries. I figured he was making up for his mistake! And how is it our fault that you guys are bringing food out to the wrong table?? He then proceeded to snatch the fries off the table when I told them we wouldn't be paying for their mistake. fries are literally a couple dollars and it's not hard to make Your customers happy. It's wild to me that the establishment would want to make their mistake worse and treat their customers like that. I would have happily paid for the fries when I initially ordered them. I probably would have even paid for them if the situation was handled respectfully, but the moment the cook/food runner started screaming at us that option was off the table. We heard good things about the burgers here. The website advised that they would open at noon (Sat., Dec. 23). We arrived at 12:10. The front door was open and we came in and sat down. We saw two employees, one looked to be working the kitchen. The other came and stood behind the bar, looking at his phone. No greeting, no "We'll be right with you", no "Sorry, we're closed, the front door should not have been open", nothing. We sat for five minutes and the man behind the bar barely looked up from his phone. We finally got up and walked out with no response from the staff.
