This is a must try eatery! I'll be as unbiased as I can since the head chef, owner and operator is a good old friend of mine, Craig Nacho. My first impression is hmm, quaint. When you walk in it turns to cozy. After sitting down and looking at the menu then gazing about, you see the woodfired pizza oven and think, It's On! Every dish that comes out of the kitchen is prepared with the highest quality and freshest local ingredients that Craig can find. He and his staff, like a well oiled machine, rock and roll in the kitchen to ensure your food is going to taste delectable. I started with a fresh Maryland crab cake accompanied by local grown herb greens with a tasty poppy seed dressing. AWESOME PIZZA! I just love this style and they do a great job! My preference is the sauce thats the mix of the traditional sweet and the spicy. I love the one that's all the meats! They have amazing meatballs and the pepperoni and sausage are the perfect amount of spicy! The house salad is great, and they have a creative drink menu with a few of their own drinks that are nice. We love coming here and its quickly become our new favorite place. Anyone we've taken there has had the same opinion. Wish it was closer....wait, if it was, my entire diet might be pizza! read more

Nice place. I guess just reopened. Nice atmosphere and great food. The grilled pear goat cheese and beet salad was awesome. Which complimented the Gunpowder pizza with bison pizza. Worth the drive from lower MD. Heard good things months ago about this place decided to try it. Worth it. Mmmmm there were three people working. One I guess was the owner, other was the waitress who was very customer service. Them I think only one cook but all was amazing. It is BYOB. We shall return. read more

This place replaces a former favorite of mine, SouperNatural, which was the first to truly elevate the cuisine available in the Hereford Zone. Luckily, Woodfire Kitchen does not disappoint, and continues the trend. They make use of the cozy ambiance, as well as adding a brick oven, to produce excellent pizzas, sandwiches & salads. Prices are reasonable, with specialty pizzas at around $10-$15, and salads in a similar range. Sandwiches are a bit cheaper, with the exception of the crab cake, coming in at $17. Like their predecessor, the restaurant is unusually conscious both of using goods from local farms, as well as being gluten-free & allergy aware. Our party ordered a three bean soup, which was both gluten free and vegetarian. It was wholesome and filling, though not particularly notable. One dinner companion ordered the gluten free pizza with buffalo chicken, which was crispy and light with well-balanced flavors. The roast beef wrap with horseradish sauce was a flavorful and textural treat. The veggie pizza came with a crispy crust and brilliantly green veggies that still had a pleasant crunch. The crab cake sandwich was among the best I've experienced (and I'm a pretty tough crab cake critic), with large lumps of crabmeat and without too much filler. Everyone loved the fries. The ice cream was from a local creamery, and we tried the chocolate-espresso flavor, which was delicious. Overall, a great addition to the area. If you're around Hereford, worth a go for a very nice lunch. The place is BYOB, and is generally pretty busy at lunch, so get there early. read more

Wow! This place is just a wonderful, amazing, experience. From the moment we arrived, the server and owner couldn't of been more friendly and considerate. The owner asked us if we would care to try some new dishes, and we were delighted to do so. He brought out a Tex/Mex egg roll. Hey, don't roll your eyes. Yes, other places try to do this. However; this is so delicate, but so full of different flavors it rolls (see what I did here?) right off your tongue. It comes with a wasabi aioli that blows them out of the water. Next we tried another dish (Peruvian Steak and French Fry Stir-Fry - Peruvian Beef Saltado) that included beautifully marinated flat iron steak, (very tender) accompanied by red onions, flavorful peppers, and served over 'french fries'. During these rough times of the COVID-19 pandemic, it's upsetting to not be able to get out & about & enjoy sitting down at a restaurant to enjoy some delicious food! I am not from the area that Woodfire Kitchen is located in, I'm actually from Philadelphia & my boyfriend lives near Annapolis. However, we did a hike in the area and were so hungry afterwards! We worried if we'd be able to get some good food, but we were happy to find out this restaurant was open for carry-out! I adore that it's farm to table & the food was DELICIOUS. It might've been the best chicken, bacon, ranch pizza I've ever had & the Chesapeake chicken sandwich didn't disappoint! Highly recommended to anyone & everyone! Support local businesses! read more

My wife and I stopped in here for dinner one evening. We wanted to try something new and loved the farm to table aspect of this restaurant. We started with the crab dip as an appetizer and that was fantastic and had a lot of crab meat in it. I got the WFK Burger which was local source burger with macaroni and cheese and pulled pork on it. It also came with hand cut fries. It was delicious and a lot to eat! My wife got the the Margherita Pizza and she said it was very good! Plenty of left over to take home. Sophie our waitress was great and always attentive. We will definitely be coming back. read more

I'LL BE BACK! This restaurant is a gem! Cozy atmosphere welcomes you to have a seat, relax and yes, eat. It's BYOB and we came prepared. The menu offers a variety including vegetarian options. The food is fresh and flavorful. I had the "spot-on-delicious" crab & corn chowder (perfect for viewing the Preakness). We enjoyed a margarita pizza made with fresh ingredients and finished the evening with local cheesecake (goats cheese) that rivals any I have ever tasted. The staff was attentive and the owner checks in with you. As we finished up, I ordered that spectacular soup to take along for tomorrow's lunch. While there is one modest tv using closed captioning in corner of dining room, it in no way interferes with table conversation. Limited outdoor seating in good weather (in case Fido is along for the trip). read more

We have been to WFK several times and each visit has been very good. We have tried the soups, pizza, bison burgers and the larger dinner salads. All were very tasty and freshly made. The restaurant is small inside but it has outstanding atmosphere with the old wood beams an walls. Service is great and the servers are very friendly. WFK has some interesting menu offerings like heart shaped pizza for valentines day and pizza with the Pi symbol done in pepperonis. WFK does not have a liquor license but they will allow you to bring in a 6 pack of beer or a bottle of wine. They will open the bottle for you for a small fee and give you wine glasses WFK does change their menu several times a year to meet the seasonal offerings. read more

A hidden gem nearby Ladew Topiary Garden! After reading terrible reviews of Manor Tavern (miles closer to Ladew) and excellent reviews of Woodfire Kitchen, I decided to drive the 10 miles to check it out. To note, it's a beautifully scenic drive! Pros: 1. Friendly, helpful wait staff. 2. High-quality ingredients, some of them local like the delicious goat cheese! 3. Casual, clean atmosphere. Feels very neighborhood-y. 4. Excellent selection of pizzas ranging from Margerita to Fig-Sausage-Brie. 5. The shortbread dessert is top notch! 6. The owner, Dan, could not have been more friendly, genuine, and kind. Cons: 1. This is so, so minor, but I would have loved the pizza crust to be cooked just a tad longer, especially since it's baked in a wood-fired oven. It was a little too chewy and not charred enough for me. (I should note that I am a pizza snob from the NY/NJ area.) I will most definitely return if and when I'm back in the area. read more

This was our 3rd or 4th visit to Woodfire Kitchen, and unfortunately it will be the last. Vegetarian daughter's Greek Rice Bowl came with the chicken on it, which was removed but it obviously was not a new bowl. $17 for a cup of rice, 4 cucumber slices and some feta? "Crab" soup had zero crab meat. Server never made her way back to check in until everything had been eaten and our glasses had been empty for 30 minutes. When we mentioned our issues with the food, we got a nasty attitude. The check came back crumpled up in a ball. It's loud and crowded and the service this time was absolutely terrible. It's too bad because our experience prior to this had been wonderful. read more

This place is SO TASTY!!! I live near Baltimore but will make the trip to bring friends and out of town visitors back with me. Love this Amish built building (I know that because I complimented the beauty of the architecture and the owner told me it was Amish built) and love the decor. We had a fantastic first experience here today. Not only was the food delicious, but it was also impressive to see the one owner Tom actually support his staff instead of sitting back; he also brought my daughter over to help cook her pizza in the wood stove, something that really makes a connection with guests. Beyond that, he helped his staff run meals, refill drinks, clear tables, etc. It speaks wonders for a place to be run by people who aren't afraid to put the work in as well. We'll definitely be back, especially since they carry Impossible Burgers; something I was not expecting from a local place like this. read more

What a hidden gem this place is! Here's the scoop (limited though it is since we have only been once): -best brisket bbq sandwich this side of Texas. (no kidding, it is that good-smoked for 12 hours and fork tender wonderful) -best pizza this side of Pizza Slice in Towson. Truly a wood fire beauty complete with little charred crunchy bits on the crust. I am a purist so this was not gunked up with toppings-just great sauce, fresh, delicious mozzarella and a few sautéed onions. yummmm -best French fries, short of ...anywhere. We've never had better. We can't wait to go back for the Roseda Farms burger. The only negative was a waitress we felt terribly sorry for and who was just too elderly and obviously not well for the job. We we're passing through Parkton and wanted to try something different. I will start by saying the place looks great and the service was good. We started off with the fried pickles and they were good. It was all down hill after that. I ordered Chesapeake burger on lettuce no bun. The grab dip was under the melted cheese. No clue why. The lettuce was bibb or butter lettuce. I'm not sure but it felt like velvet and tasted like shit. I took two bites and was turned off from the whole meal. My wife regrettably ordered the spicey burger. I partially blame her for this but they should definitely put some kind of warning on this thing. It was food challenge hot. She took one bite and was in tears. She ate a habanero pepper smothered in habanero sauce. She was literally in tears and we didn't end up eating that either. All in all in cost us about 50 bucks for some friend pickles. I wish we ordered the pizza. Hopefully everyone else has a better experience than we did. read more

Ok, so my husband is notoriously hard to please and he even said everything was fabulous. From the service to the food, all around 5 out of 5 stars. I'd rate higher if I could! I had the sesame tuna appetizer and it was heavenly; cooked to perfection. My husband had the onion rings and they were incredibly tasty-not sure what the secret herb is in the batter but it gave them that certain extra something. We both got salads because they sounded amazing - and they were! The dressings were both superb, not too oily and greasy - just right. Now.....it was my birthday so we decided to indulge in desserts. I consider myself a very good baker and am very hard on desserts. Let me tell you folks something, if you don't get the caramel toffee brownie, you are not living. It was an out of this world experience---warm with gooey fresh caramel. So amazing. The cheesecake was very good too, but the brownie....just get the brownie. Do you hear me? GET THE BROWNIE! So very pleased to have found this place and thanks to all of the other yelpers for leading me here. We live close and will make this a spot to frequent often. You won't be disappointed. Absolutely amazing burgers and pizzas. The locally sourced beef speaks for itself so there are no need for condiments. I went for the bacon burger which had a candied bacon relish. Our first visit to Woodfire Kitchen was many months ago and after many subsequent visits I am finally getting around to writing my review. First off, I love the ambience of this place - especially the amazing smells wafting out of the wood burning stove, the owner makes you feel welcome and is always on hand to help out and interact with diners and our favorite server, Jessica, is absolutely awesome, friendly, personable and always anticipating our needs before we need to ask. So far we have tried the Old Bay Wings, Southwest Egg Rolls, Roasted Corn & Crab Chowder, Cuban, burgers, pizzas and chicken caesar salad and everything has always been delicious but I have to say that the burgers are my favorite, grilled perfectly and always flavorful and juicy and I love to top mine with blue cheese crumbles and bbq sauce. The place does a great business so we try to go about an hour or 2 after lunch time but don't be deterred, it is well worth the wait and once the warm weather hits there is plenty of outdoor seating available. read more

What a quaint find!!! They make the best bison burger around. Local sourced meats that taste fresh. Highly recommend the Red pepper aoli and pepperjack cheese with it.. fries are fresh cut and very good with a Smokey paprika dust this time(has before and they were just served lightly seasoned)...Must try the Woodfire pizzas sometime.. it smells wonderful when you enter. read more
