Woodfire was my go-to for gluten free pizza, hands down. They mopped the floor with anyone else in town on their gluten free. Lately, though, it's been a let down. Last night's pizza had no black olives as ordered, and arrived smaller than usual with mostly sauce. Pretty disappointed, and will be trying other local options that put more pride in their work and want the business.

I have had prior experiences here and they have typically been very pleasant. Yet this time was different, and I was left extremely disappointed. I was enjoying my meal, and I heard someone shouting. It ruined my whole mood to see a higher up handle a mistake in such a brash manner. I saw two young ladies getting yelled at, and that toxicity in the work environment left me feeling sorry for anyone who works at this establishment. I still enjoyed my food, and nothing seemed to be going on for these young ladies to get the treatment they were getting. Woodfire nothing is ever that serious to get worked up over! Your establishment is well polished, and you typically have great service, and I hope for your staffs sake this was just a very busy Friday night!

From the moment we walked in, we were immediately disappointed. The place had a strong stench of sewer pipes, and the interior was filthy dust-covered blinds, stained carpets, cobwebs, and grime everywhere. I honestly wish we had walked out, but we decided to give it a chance. We started with the calamari and fries, which were actually pretty good and gave me a bit of hope. Unfortunately, it went downhill from there. We ordered the vodka pizza and bolognese pasta. The pizza was just okay pepperoni tasted more like cheap bologna. The bolognese was on par with boxed hamburger helper. I really don't like writing bad reviews, but the level of filth in this place made the entire experience uncomfortable. I'm shocked at the number of good reviews this place was gross.

Eh?? I don't know what it was about this place. But the vibe was off. They sat us in the back room, where the paint was chipping and the diffuser above the table was on and off constantly. I started having an allergy attack as I was eating my pizza. Maybe if I got sat in the front I'd be fine...but IDK. I think takeout is the way to go with this place? Sorry.

Woodfire Dundee is in the heart of downtown West Dundee with a rustic and cozy aesthetic. The menu has a focus on wood-fire pizzas and homemade pastas. There is free street parking as well as a back parking lot. We started with the Cosmo and one of their vday special cocktails, First Kiss. My Cosmo was perfectly balanced with being fruity, tart, and spirit forward. The First Kiss was a fun, fruity gin drink. I loved the flower garnish and subtle glitter inside. Our appetizer was the Honey Ricotta Toast which came with toasted crostinis and a jar full of whipped ricotta and two honey cubes. The crostinis were oiled or buttered for flavor and the ricotta could have used a bit more honey for how I like it. Our mains were the Vodka Rigatoni and Tagliatelle Bolognese. The noodles were homemade and the sauces also tasted fresh. Pasta entrees can have chicken or shrimp added for an up charge; I was a bit disheartened that I couldn't add sausage as they only offer it on pizzas. Either way, the pastas were the star of the night in taste, size, and appearance. We ended the meal with the Zeppole, Italian dough fried with sauces. They had a nice cinnamon sugar finish with chocolate and caramel sauce drizzled over. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner and the service at Woodfire. Our next trip will certainly be to come out and try some of their pizzas!

This restaurant is such a warm,comfortable place to enjoy dinner with family or friends! We started with the roasted vegetable fondue. I didn't know what to expect but it was amazing! For those who love a healthy veggie with a touch of decadence, this app is for you! Our dinner was the ox-tail ragu along with the white prosciutto and arugula pizza. The ox-tail sauce was rich and delicious and the pizza was fresh tasting and light. The drinks are hand crafted and the glass of Cabernet was solid. It's a warm and welcoming place and I recommend it for date night or a family evening out. Give it a try, it's a hidden gem! read more

Easily the best pizza spot in the area. Fantastic, fresh pasta, gourmet pizza, local brews, and handcrafted cocktails. The service is top notch, and the atmosphere is energetic. We love this place, and will be back often. Tonight, we started with the French fry appetizer (perfectly seasoned with a bit of garlic and truffle sauce), moved on to a shared plate of pesto gnocchi (light, fluffy pasta and zesty, fresh-tasting sauce), then shared the rosemary sausage pizza (delicious, though the sausage kept falling off), and finished with a divine s'mores dessert pizza (Hershey chocolate, toasty marshmallow, and crushed graham crackers, over a sweetened crust). I had a Behave Yourself cocktail (two, actually), and my husband enjoyed the Revolution Oktoberfest. Our daughter had a kid's sausage pizza, and ate the whole thing without coming up for air! read more

Went here for date night with my bride to try someplace new. The service was spot on, Thank you Henry! The pizza was off the charts delish. The crust was flavorful, airy, and perfect. This was our first time here. Henry was our server and he was very attentive throughout our entire visit. He made sure to answer any questions and to let us know that a keg was being replaced, so it would be a minute for the wine. It's always nice to know why something is taking longer than expected. The cacio e pepe was delicious, the pasta was al dente and there was the perfect amount of fresh cracked pepper. The pizza was also delicious, the fennel sausage specifically was so good! Someone from management stopped by our table to check on everything which was nice as well. I have only good things to say and can't wait to return. This place was amazing. From the ambiance with the brick oven in the dining area to the wood floors and bar. The service was fabulous, Henry was on his game and so polite and knowledgeable. The Spicy Vodka Rigatoni was the best entree, and we had two pizzas and the Burrata. The Prosciutto and Arugula pizza was very tasty, we added sun dried tomatoes. If you crave for a nicely done woodfired pizza along with some good local craft brews, this is the place in little neighborhood for both. We tried two pizzas from the menu and a basket of truffle fries and can't wait to go back again to try the other pizzas from menu. Place is quite decent sized, bigger than we thought and ample parking in the back. They also have some good varieties of pasta as well as good selection of wines. Been to Woodfire three times now and have enjoyed each time and will be back again. Their Woodfire pizza is a nice change of pace from the typical pizzas in the area, also a big fan of the West Dundee area which is fun to explore after dinner, check out the retro arcade down the block. I've been gluten free for over a decade and had my share of GF pizza. This is the BEST gluten free pizza crust I've ever had. It actually taste like authentic pizza you'd get in Italy. The prosciutto pizzas are my favorite, but you can't go wrong! I wish I could get the recipe for the GF crust :) read more

Wow we just had an amazing meal at this place. Drinks were great good price. Then ordered the calamari and it was really fresh and the breading was perfect. Huge portions. Caesar salad to follow could serve 3-4 as as a starter. He had a Margarita Pizza as our main course simply wonderful light abs so flavorful!! Would be wrong if I didn't give Josh props for the great Blood orange Margaritas!! Highly recommend this place. read more

The inside of the restaurant is nicely decorated and has a lot of dim lighting which makes for a nice ambience. One thing that was not enjoyable was having to wait in a crowded area for our table. There is not a waiting area, so many people were gathered by the door which made for an awkward wait time. We had the lobster pizza and Tuscan fries. The lobster pizza was delicious with flavorful toppings and crust. The only comment we had for this menu item was that there was not enough lobster pieces. A few pieces of pizza only had one very small piece of lobster on it. The Tuscan fries were also tasty and came with a good size portion for the price. All in all, we enjoyed our meal and will be back. read more

Lunch with my 4 year old son and wife. Kids pizza was very good, the mussels and olives were outstanding. We had wine and beer and the selections of wine were very good with some local craft beer options. Also a very good cocktail list. We will make woodfire a regular dining out spot. read more

My wifes really picky when it comes to food. It takes a lot to get her to try new restaurants. Shes originally from New Jersey and we have been trying to find a good pizza place and we tried this one a week ago and she loved it. I think its probably the crust that she liked because she likes things crunchy (well done). The flavor of the pizza was good too. Definitely recommend. read more

If you haven't tried Woodfire yet you are really missing out. We had the pleasure of having dinner el Fresca on the patio last night. The patio seating is very comfortable, clean and absolutely no mosquitoes! The menu has a very nice selection of specialty pizza options and a handful of italian meals. We had our hearts set on pizza last night but the Tagliatelli under the pasta section sounds amazing! We started dinner with an order of the bruschetta which was very good, nothing out of the ordinary but that's ok it was made to perfection. For dinner we shared the arugula salad which was plenty big enough to go three ways. We tried the sausage and pepperoni pizza, Rosemary sausage pizza and a pepperoni and mushroom pizza. All three were amazing and full of flavor. Hands down the best sausage I've had in awhile. Big huge meaty chunks of deliciousness. I haven't mentioned they have wine and Peroni on tap! Not a huge selection of wines on tap but the Hess Chardonnay was served perfectly chilled. The Peroni was ice cold and served to perfection as well. The staff was amazing especially our waitress she was so attentive and friendly but not over the top, when she said to sit and relax I believed she truly wanted us to be there and to enjoy our first night out in 80 days. I also wanted to give a huge nod to Woodfire Pizzas owners for handling their reopening so well. They truly have touch less menus, take your phone aim it at the icon and there you go the menu right there at the palm of your hands. The place is clean, I mean really clean! Masks and gloves are warn by the staff properly means they are actually covering their mouth and noses! I can say the other restaurant we visited prior to going to Woodfire was not as diligent about covering their employees. This is my new favorite pizza, we will be back!! read more

We had the sopprressata (spelling?) pizza and it was FANTASTIC! This is what a sit-down pizza restaurant should be. We also had the burrata which personally was my favorite. Our waitress was attendant even though she was busy, she was super cool! Worth the wait if there is one, don't miss this place. read more

Their dishes are all fresh and made in house. But the best part is that you cab actually taste it! We'll made woodfire pizza and can't go wrong with the pasta! Their pizza sauce was truly well done - recommend the Quattro Formagio with extra sauce. Lastly the crème brûlée was delightful and could taste the perfect amount of vanilla bean through the custard. Definitely worth going again! read more

Been wanting to try this place for a while. Overall the food was delicious and the service was excellent. The pizza crust had good flavor, just like a wood fired pizza should. The Parmesan chicken sandwich was huge served with a large portion of their Tuscan fries. Only disappointment was we got charged for bread, but we weren't advised they charge for bread. If you're looking for a new place to go check this place out. read more

The food was delicious! We got both the cheese and sausage pizza. They are a good size too. If you have an appetizer, you can definitely share the pizza with a second person. One of the things I like most is that the owner so clearly loves what she's doing and is almost always there, interacting with customers and bringing cheer and warmth. The place feels--especially in the summer time--like sitting on a European street. The food is always tasty (the deviled eggs especially), the drinks are creative. I could use a slightly wider cocktail list that incorporates varying base spirits and experiments a bit more, but what they serve up is good.

Woodfire Dundee is an absolute gem in the suburbs! We started with the burrata and warm woodfired focaccia, then tried The Melissa pizza, vodka rigatoni, and pesto gnocchi - all were delicious and full of flavor.
