I gave Penny an idea of the type of used car I was looking for, and she drove a car back from a PA car auction for me to see. I purchased the car "as is". Shortly afterwards, I got a flashing warning on the dashboard. Totally convinced I'd been scammed, I took the car back. It turned out a sensor had failed and needed to be replaced. Penny picked up the entire tab (labor & parts) even though I had bought the car "as is"! That was more than four years ago, and my 2007 Subaru Forester is still going strong. If I hadn't moved to a state without a sales tax, I'd drive back to CT to purchase another car from Penny without hesitation.

Jay also went as far as putting the car up on the lift in the shop and handed me a flashlight to take a look at anything I wanted - I noticed one other small thing that needed fixing and he did get it done before I came to pick the car up. With no extra cost. They also went out of their way entirely to get the car registered for me at the DMV - which helped me tremendously. I never expected this treatment for buying a $1750 car. All this being said - it is a 14 year old car and I don't expect it to be flawless. If things go wrong I would happily bring it back and pay to have them fix it if it is something I can't do myself.

Background: I have an '02 Maxima that recently failed emissions, so I brought my car in to be diagnosed, and (hopefully) fixed. Diagnosis: I needed 3 catalytic converters removed and replaced, along with a new Y-pipe. The Work: Mike and his crew not only replaced the 3 catalytic converters, they also replaced my front brake pads, and serviced my maxima's battery at no extra charge just for customer loyalty. On top of that, they brought my car back in to emissions for me to ensure that my car would pass. I have NEVER known another mom and pop mechanic that would go over and above like that--waiting in line just to make sure their customer's vehicle passed. I've heard multiple stories of customers of other mechanics that have failed emissions twice....even AFTER the work to correct the issue was supposedly already done. I should also add that the work they did for my car took roughly a week, and so as not to leave me without a vehicle, Car Doctor gave me a loaner car for the entire time at no extra charge! My overall assessment: My Maxima, with literally 199,900 miles to it, runs like a new car....no exaggeration. Mike, Jay and their crew are honest, solid, customer-focused mechanics. They know cars, and they've consistently done everything within their power to keep mine up and running.
