Upon buying the car, everything was great. Even in the last year of service, I haven't had an issue. Only when Vernon Auto damaged my paint during an oil change, did I run into a problem. I made the call the next morning when I found the damage, and I got the run around for 2 weeks. After calling several times, I found out that Jeff insisted that he did not do it. Jason told me he had to wait for Al to return to get an answer. I called 2 or 3 more times in the next week and a half to follow up, and finally was told that Vernon Auto refuses to take responsibility, and if I wanted the damage fixed it was on me at that point. I spoke to and wrote to the General Manager at the time. He told me " I'll look into this and get back to you" Well he never did. That's what why I wrote the reviews and on Facebook as well. Just look a the invoice on my repair problem. When I called to see if the car was ready I was told my battery was bad and would not start the car. I asked for a price on the new battery and was told it was $260.00 + $60.00 to install, that's $320.00. After checking with my local auto store I purchase a correct batter for $175.00 I called back and said I'd bring my own battery. When I came to get the car. after paying the $1100. invoice and got my keys I went out to the car and before installing the battery I tried it out. THE CAR STARTED. I then noticed that the invoice stated I would not be permitted to install the battery on your dealership grounds. Which would require me to call a tow truck to tow it off the lot, to the curb and install the battery. That may have cost me at least $125.00. Since the car started I drove home and returned the battery to the store.. That's why I continue to downgrade Vernon VW. Especially I was told the management would investigate the Problem. NO CALL. so why should I think different and warn other unsuspecting car owners to stay away from your Dealership. read more

I had gotten rid of my car that sat two years during the pandemic. I was borrowing my daughter's car, but she was returning from being away at college and needed it back for the summer. After several weeks of searching we found a clean Subaru Forester with acceptable mileage at Vernon Auto Sales. I hate the "car buying experience" but my sales advisor, Carlos, treated me with respect and gave me a high level customer experience in testing out the car and preparing the paperwork for my credit union. Then I sat down with the owner, Jason, and he also demonstrated that he truly respects his customers. THEY SOLD ME A FLOODED CAR. I bought a 2014 Subaru Forester from Vernon Auto Sales less than 2 years ago. I experienced problem after problem with this car. A week after buying it, the AC stopped working. I brought it back to their mechanics TWICE and they were not able to fix it either time or give me a clear answer. I figured it was just bad luck and ended up having to pay a pretty penny to get the compressor replaced somewhere else. As time goes by I am starting to consistently have problems with the car. Lights coming on almost immediately every time I pick it up from a repair. It eventually breaks down on the highway out of state on 11/21 and I end up having to pay 2k to replace trans valve body. Okay, again I am annoyed but assume it is just unlucky that I am getting some hefty repairs so close together. Fast forward a few weeks later and the car is continuing to get worse and worse. Transmission is slipping, engine is making concerning noises, radio is crashing all the time, all the warning lights coming on so I bring it in to a different Subaru dealership near me for a fresh opinion. They tell me its the trans valve body again and replace that part under warranty. Okay, I hope it was just a fluke that it wasn't repaired right the last time. I drive away from the dealership and almost immediately all the warning lights come back on. So I bring the car back in to that dealership again and I tell them not give my car back until they can tell me why it having these issues. They spend a week with the car and come back telling me it has signs of significant flood damage affecting the electrical body and the transmission, both of which would need to be replaced or will continue to deteriorate. There is also significant rust in the inner body of the car, noticeable if you lift out the spare tire and look around. They told me this car should have never been sold under a clean title. I'm extremely disappointed. I spent over 10k on this car under 2 years ago, have put several thousand into repairs, and am left with a car that is effectively totaled and a super inflated market making it very difficult to buy a similar car for a reasonable price. While Jason was nice during the sale, I just feel its super scammy to let flooded cars leave your lot when you have service department that could have easily inspected the car and figured this out before letting it be sold. Did they know it was flooded before selling it? I don't know. Should they have? Absolutely. I am a young woman who worked very hard to save up the money to purchase this car and am left out of 15k and no car because of the negligence of this dealership. read more

So, a year and a half ago, I bought a 2009 Legacy. My credit wasn't good, in fact, it was pretty bad. Jason worked hard with me to get financing for me. I had a 90 day warranty and had several problems along the way, including O2 sensor and coil pack, and they took care of it quickly and efficiently with no cost to me. I also had a full year of oil changes for free. More recently, I had HUGE problems and they worked with me to keep it affordable for me and really went out of their way to make sure that I had my car back in time for me to get to work. Al went above and beyond to make sure that my car was ready to go. Come to me driving my car after the repairs. I have owned this car for a year and a half and it has never driven this well in the entire time that I've owned it. Shady place; had a friend who was buying a used car there; the following took place: First, the salesman would not allow my friend to test drive the car without a $200 deposit, assuring him it was fully refundable. My friend paid, drove the car, liked it and told the salesman he was going to come back to close the deal. Telling me about his experiece, I told him to ask the dealer if it was possible to take the car for an indipendant mechanical check, before buying it. When my friend went back there to clsoe the deal, he decided to try the "Independant checkup" thing I told him about. Once he mentioned it to the salesman, the guy profusely refused. When this happenned, my friend decided to back out of the deal because it smelled fishy. When he told the guy he wasn't interested and needed back the deposit (the refundable $200); the dealer refused to give him back the refund! I've been repeating this story everywhere about these people ever since. They have shady business and shouild not be dealt with. read more

I see someone complaining about a $200 deposit for taking a test drive, that's BULLSHIT! First time I went in there was with my friend who had no idea about car buying. I agree that Al, one of the owners is a very smooth talker and he starts with a price with some room left for negotiation and I understand it's his profession, he would try to make some money and feed his family! My friend bought his car and he was not disappointed (have bee driving it for over 6 years). next year I drove in there next just for inquiring for a car repair as my 15 yr old civic was giving me lot of issues. Ended up buying a Camry from Al. I have been doing all my work here and in their other location since then. I live in Boston now and I do stop by sometime if I am driving by his shop to say hello. Many time he told me to ignore small things or mage quick fixes without charging a lot. for some quick and easy things, he won't even charge you. He replaced my broken rear light set and fixed a big dent on the back of my car for $120. His prices are very reasonable and unless you really piss him off, he is a nice guy. read more

I absolutely HATE car buying and would have driven my car into the ground just to avoid it, but unfortunately I was hit and it was totaled last year so to the used car lots I went. I must have checked out every single used car dealer in Tolland and Hartford county (and beyond) over a 4 month period. I was stupid. Don't be me. Vernon Autos is one of the first lots I looked on, but I wanted to see my options. One billion cars later, I ended up back there buying a fantastic Accord for a good price from great people. They are truly kind and make the process so painless. There's no hassle to test drive, they will tell you everything you need to know about each car, and when you do make a purchase they offer financing and handle all of the DMV paperwork. Six months after I purchased my Honda, I was again hit, and it was totaled (drivers on 84 are the worst amiright?) I went directly back to Al and Jason at Vernon Auto Sales and purchased a really nice Subaru Legacy. They remember me every time I go (for my free oil changes too!) and I consider myself lucky to have done business with good guys considering all the nonsense that forced me into it. I did not think I would ever say or write kind words about a used car dealership, but my recent experience buying a pickup truck from Jason and Al at Vernon Auto Sales undercut my (and most everyone else's) negative stereotype of used car lots and salesmen. One thing I liked was the lack of pressure. I visited the lot three times and at no time did Jason or Al say "What can I do to get you to buy this today" or any of the other car guy pressure nonsense. I looked at prices on other local lots and on the Internet for two trucks that they had and that I was considering. I found that Vernon Auto Sales was offering them for less than equivalent vehicles. For the truck I finally bought, their asking price was $3,000 less than the retail ask price listed by Kelly Blue Book and $1,000 less than the average private party ask price. The final price was yet another $400 less. The truck is in immaculate shape, and it included a 30-day warrantee, even though that is not necessary for a 2002 vehicle. They also did all the DMV paperwork in the office, so I could avoid that. Everything was handled efficiently. During the entire process, I kept trying to think of a reason not to buy from a used car lot, theirs or anyone else's, but in the end I couldn't. So I bought a good truck and a very good price from a couple of guys that were easy to work with. I recommend that you give them a look. read more
