I have been to Excuria many times over the past couple of decades; both at their old building and their new building. I have had: manicures, pedicures, massages, facials, and waxing. Every service has been top-notch. The staff is always polite. The new building is beautiful. I will continue going to Excuria, when I can. With today's economy, though: their increased prices are disappointing. Now more than ever people feel like they need a break, but it's tough to justify dropping loads of money for what used to cost at least 25% less just 5 years ago. read more

I've been going to Michael the Salon since 2016, they recently joined the Excuria Salon family. I am thrilled to say that Jessie has moved with them. I've seen her grow into the amazing stylist she is. She is a genuine & kind person who is skilled with scissors. She listens to what you want with your cut and explains everything as she goes. I've had a very traumatic haircut in the past and she is the one of the few people I trust with my hair. The other 2 were employees of Michael's who left due to moving out of state. So I believe that speaks to the quality of how they are trained. First time at this venue - had a wonderful and amazing experience with the Rosie who did my facial. She truly did an amazing job and I was so relaxed afterwards. I highly recommend Rosie for a facial. The best facial that I have ever had!!! I wish I could've left her a tip however, the establishment only accepts cash tips - who walks with cash these days. Following the facial, I did the Turkish bath. Interesting experience but I would not do that again. In terms of my overall experience with this spa, I don't think they were very welcoming, I got the impression that they don't get too many African-Americans in their shop. read more

I loved visiting this spa! They have so beautifully captured every little detail. I got a full body scrub in the Turkish bath by Sarah, who was wonderful. I also got a complimentary foot soak prior to my appointment which was lovely. A sweet woman named Grace gave me 3 refills on my elderberry water because it was seriously that good! I also got a complimentary 15 minutes in the Sabbia Med which was a very cool, interesting experience. All of the employees were very accommodating and made sure to check on me frequently to make sure I had everything I needed. I also used the Experiential Shower room which was truly amazing. I called to make an appointment because I had 2 gift cards that I had to use, as I had had them for quite some time. They confirmed my appointment the day before. I parked in the back parking lot on the day of my appointment and headed up the ramp. When I walked into the building, I was in the salon and very confused on where to go. It is windy and I finally found the front desk. I checked in and the girl working it was very confused in how to type in my last name and then asked if my first name was Susan. I know masks don't help with hearing people, but it wasn't a great first impression. Also, I handed her the two gift cards and asked her if I could pay then, and she said she would put my name on them and put them aside. I shouldn't have done that based on the first impression of her not being able to put my last name correctly into the computer. After my services were completed and I went to pay, that girl who checked me in was gone and the other girl who was checking me out didn't have a clue about anything and didn't know where my gift cards were even though she was right next to us the entire transaction earlier. The other girl at the front desk knew where my gift cards were and brought them out. I didn't wait long in the waiting room downstairs before Amy, who was going to give me my body polish and scrub, came down to greet me. She went over the locker room situation and I changed into my robe and slippers and locked my clothes and purse away. The body polish and scrub was very relaxing and Amy was a delight. Next, Ruth, who would perform my scalp massage, was just finishing with a client, and I was brought into a waiting room upstairs to wait. It was a quick wait however, and Ruth brought me into her room to give me a heavenly neck, shoulder and scalp massage. I slept incredible that night and was completely relaxed. The tipping is weird. Since you are parading around in a robe and your things are locked up in a different room, you have to put the tip in an envelope and shove it into a locked away area at the front desk. She was friendly and attentive, made me feel welcomed and most important of all is she did an amazing job with my hair. I don't know why this place doesn't get more five star reviews. I was given a massage therapy session for my birthday here and was quite pleased. The check in was easy, and I was shown to a room where there were lockers with keys to place my belongings in. I was given a soft robe and shoes to wear and then taken to another room to wait for my Therapist to come for me. The room where my massage took place was calm and relaxing. I've been coming here for several years to have my eyelashes tinted. I love not having to wear mascara. It's a vegetable based dye so if it gets into your eye it stings but won't cause any damage. The staff is friendly and professional. I have always been happy with the services I have received. The only thing that I don't like is that the building is an old house so the stairs are steep and narrow. But they are moving to a new location in the next few months that will have an elevator. read more

I had a confirmed appointment for today, 12/24/21, at 11:30 AM for a manicure. I was hoping to get my gel polish removed and a regular polish manicure. At no time during the online booking system was I alerted that gel polish removal could not be performed during the regular manicure service. At the time or writing I do not see that you are able to book polish removal as serve. Upon arrival at my appointment, my nail technician told me almost immediately that she did not have time to remove my polish and complete a manicure. She went up front and returned to tell me again that there was definitely no time to remove my polish and that she would walk me out. At no time was I offered to book another appointment or any other accommodation despite my confirmed appointment. While I understand Christmas Eve and this time of year can be extremely busy, the curt exchanges with the technician left me feeling disappointed as I had a confirmed appointment and I had really enjoyed my last manicure at Excuria. read more

Treated myself to a massage yesterday and really enjoyed the experience. I am pregnant so it was nice to go somewhere that has a table made especially for pregnant people. Loved the music, smells and ambiance of my massage room. Alexandria was my masseuse and she was very calming and did a great job at targeting the areas that were bothering me. I also added on a foot mask and that felt really nice as well. You are provided shower sandals and a robe, and a locker with key to put all your belongings in. I recommend the steam showers after as well. The only thing that annoyed me was their parking lot was completely full and it was a little annoying to find parking. read more

I visited Excuria to have Joanna microblade my eyebrows. I've always had eyebrows that were full in the wrong places and I always had to fill in the ends. My skin is on the oily side so no matter what I used, it would wear off by the end of the day. A coworker had her brows done by Joanna so I figured I'd give it a try. Joanna meets with you for a consultation to see what you want and goes over the instructions and process so you know what you're getting into. It's basically a tattoo that lasts for a year, so it's a commitment and you need to follow the correct before-and-after-care instructions perfectly to make sure they look their best. I won't sugarcoat it - it hurts. She numbed my brows for about 30 minutes during the first session (there are two) and I relaxed while she played music. When she first started on my right brow, I couldn't feel a thing. By the time she got to the left, it stung a bit but was completely tolerable. By the very end, it hurt a little but it was a few pricks, then a break, then a few pricks, then a break so I was able to get through it. I could NOT get them wet for 10 days, so be prepared to not sweat or shower normally. It's doable but tough. The second session did hurt but was worth it. This session is about 4 weeks after your first, so you're a little healed but not fully healed. She fills in any spots and makes your brows perfect. This hurt quite a bit despite the numbing. As she was doing it I thought "I'm not having this done again" but I was so pleased with the result I may do it anyway. After the second session, your 10 days start again with no sweat or showering like your normally do. She wanted me to flip my head over the sink to wash my hair but I tried it and water still got on my forehead. Only way I could do it was to CAREFULLY use a handheld showerhead while covering my face with a towel. You also use aquaphor for those 10 days to protect your brows. No one can tell, it looks fine. She warned me that after the first day or two, my brows may look way too dark and then fade to nothing before healing properly. My brows were dark but not so dark I was embarrassed to go out. And they did fade a bit and come right back a few days later. Totally normal. Now they are perfectly sculpted and look 100% real. They do not look microbladed, they just look great! Came here for a massage and had a good, but not perfect experience. I was happy to find the descriptions of all the massages, pricing, and easy scheduling online. Their prices are higher than others in the area, but you're paying for the experience you get before and after. Plan on scheduling your massage a few weeks out. I came during the day during the week and it was very busy, however I was greeted right away and my appointment ran on time. Accessibility- The massages take place upstairs, so call ahead to see if they can accommodate you if you cannot walk up a flight of stairs. Before your massage, they direct you to the ladies locker room, which has 1 bathroom, a few showers, a sink, a bench and some lockers. This works if only 1-2 people are in here at a time. There were 3 other ladies when I arrived and I had to wait to use the bathroom to get undressed. They give you a robe and heavy duty flip flops to wear, and each locker has a key that you take with you. My massage therapist greeted me right away and showed me a menu of add-ons for the massage. I chose the sinus reliever which was OK but I didn't feel it made much of a difference. After the massage I was led back to the locker room, and the massage therapist started a hot steam shower for me and gave me a glass of water. Overall- I liked how upscale the spa was, but I came to relax and with so much going on, it was hard for me too. The ladies locker room wasn't stocked well when I first got there, the bathroom was out of wash clothes so I wasn't able to dry my hands, and they had only 1 pair of flip flops left so I got a giant pair that were hard to walk in. The laundry bin was overflowing too. After my massage the locker room had been restocked but they were out of shower caps. I'd recommend Excuria if you are looking for a massage plus a fancy before and after experience. However if you just want a massage and not all the bells and whistles, I'd recommend somewhere less busy. read more

I started going to this place to get my eyebrows waxed because I was referred by my sister in law to Karissa for eyebrow waxing. This place is elegant and relaxing from the moment you walk through the door. There is relaxing music playing and it smells warm and inviting. There are complimentary fruit infused water & coffee stations throughout. Before I came here I was plucking my own eyebrows with tweezers and I couldn't seem to achieve the right brow shape I was looking for. I also couldn't seem to get my one eyebrow to grow near the tail end. I decided to stop plucking and let them grow out all crazy and then go see karissa to have her help me reshape and get advice. She advised me that my grow pattern is in 2 different directions and that is why I am not able to achieve the shape I am trying to get but we could get a more natural shape with time. I go back every 8 weeks and my hair has been growing more in the areas I want it to and less where I dont. Now i dont let anyone touch my eyebrows except karissa including myself. read more

Perhaps it was a bad day, but my experience here was fine, not great. I came for a haircut. Making the appointment was very easy and they ran right on time. Both great. The space is beautiful. But the woman who cut my hair didn't really ask me much or discuss much beyond "how much do you want me to take off". Then she kept forgetting what side I part my hair on so she cut it a little off. I've seen Nicole here a few times and she's great! The facial I got from her was extremely relaxing, and my skin felt so soft after. I felt like she really took her time with me. I've also seen her for brow waxes and she is very meticulous. I haven't seen anyone else here, but will keep coming back to see Nicole. Some small flaws: I do feel like this salon is a little over priced, but I think that's typical based on their location. My daughter purchased a gift certificate for me at Assyria, so I decided to try it again after a few disappointing haircuts in the past . This time I went for a pedicure, pretty hard to mess that up, I thought. Well, think again. Firstly, I arrived on time for my pedicure. Yet, I had to wait 30 minutes. What is this a doctor's office? The tech arrived with no apology. The pedicure was ok but I ordered a French and the Lines were uneven. The worst part was at the end. I was told to wait 5 minutes and then make my way up to the desk. I waited and waited, surely she will be back to help me out of the chair and to remove the toe spacers. I have back issues and hardly made it out of the chair. I couldn't figure out how to slide it around. I almost fell, so annoying. Then, I look and the tech is watching me while she does another clients nails. I find the ladies there arrogant and unhelpful. read more

I'm sad to see pictures cannot be included in a review, but anyway... I went to Excuria on March 6, 2015 after calling and making a reservation for, what I called, a "complete overhaul" of my hair. The receptionist booked my appointment with a new (to me) stylist as my previous stylist no longer worked there. When I went in that Friday night the stylist clearly stated she had only been given 45 minutes to do my hair, 15 of which was my consult. At this point I should have known the experience would not be good! The stylist also told another stylist she did not have time to "process" my hair more than once. During my 15 minute "consult" I showed the stylist pictures of the color and cut I wanted, her response was "I can do this, but it won't be as vibrant." When I arrived my hair was a dark brown and I had requested (and showed a picture of) bright burgundy. At this point, the stylist told me she could accomplish burgundy "but it wouldn't be as bright" to which I agreed. Upon leaving the salon and arriving home I noticed my hair was almost black with no trace of burgundy! At which point I decided to wait until morning to call back and let them know I was unhappy (I had a night appointment). Less than 24 hours later I called the salon to complain and find out their policy on having my hair corrected. The manager at this point tried placing blame on me asking if I ever even requested color when I booked my appointment. I explained the phone call and the terminology I used when speaking to the receptionist; I was then told my stylist was busy, but after she was spoken to the manager would call me back with a solution. She claimed her call would come either by end of day Saturday or Sunday depending when she had a moment. That call never came.... that is until I wrote a review on their Facebook page on Monday. I unfortunately missed her call on Monday, but received a voicemail with her lying. She claimed she called me and left a message, she had done neither! In her Monday voicemail she requested I call Tuesday morning and speak to another manager, and I did. When I called back this new manager instantly tried to defend the other manager claiming she had called me Sunday, and that my review made the other manager cry. This manager too tried to place blame on me; her statement was, "I see the problem with your hair. You had box dye in it!" I immediately cleared this up by informing her my hair was last done by a stylist who is no longer there and it cost me well over $100. She then tried to tell me they would have to charge me an additional $50 to CORRECT my hair due to miscommunication and cost of product... I've yet to figure out how pictures of what I wanted are miscommunication?! I just went back on Friday March 20 for my correction, and spent an additional 3+ hours in their salon. Only this time the correction ended up taking my hair from black to an orangey-red, this is after stripping and re-coloring my hair! When I went to leave the stylist and receptionist tried to force me to pay the $50 mentioned by the manager, which I refused for clear reasons. I told them a manager could call me and discuss it if it were an issue, and here it is Saturday night and still no call... I'm guessing their not too concerned A. about their money and worse B. customer satisfaction! If you'd like to see proof of the mess, please go visit their Facebook page and see my review and comments. Since when is it acceptable to blame the customer? Or try to charge and additional $50 for a correction (when the client already paid over $150)? I'm not sure where they learned their business practices, or hire their stylists from but please STAY AWAY from this so-called salon if you're looking for a pleasant satisfactory experience! Very pleasant time at the spa today. I did a massage, facial, pedi with lunch package. They took me upstairs to change into a robe. The robe made me feel like obi wan kenobi- large and brown but very comfortable. Massage was up first. The table was set up for my large pregnant belly. A+! Very soothing and she spent a lot of time on my shoulders. The facial. They use a fancy skin care line. Essence, I think. I liked the eucalyptus infused towels on my face. It was very pleasant. Long, soothing strokes on my face. I think I fell asleep. She also rubbed cuticle oil into my nails. A HUGE thank you for that! Then lunch. Portobello mushroom sandwich with a salad. The bread was boring white bread. Maybe because it was a Sunday? Dunno. Lastly, the pedi. Very short and sweet. Liked that. The massage chair is pretty wild! Got my legs scrubbed. I booked a 90 min pregnancy massage with Trent. Trent was very accommodating and used the right amount of pressure to my liking. He provided a very relaxing massage and calming environment utilizing aromatherapy as well. After, he suggested a steam shower which I gladly accepted. He started the shower and laid out my towels. Provided in the locker room was shower caps, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer, straightener, deodorant, hair spray, cotton swabs, and sugar scrub etc. The steam shower was so relaxing and had a lemony scent which was refreshing. Before I started my shower, Trent gave me a glass of refreshing cucumber water. I left Excuria feeling rejuvenated and relaxed. read more

Operating in the center of Wiliiamsville, Excuria is obviously aimed at higher income clients. Their services (haircuts, manicures, and pedicures, for example) are of high quality and high price. It's best to have a gift card to use. It's a very busy place. When I had my hair cut, there were at least 6 other customers also getting new hair-dos and several others sitting off to the side with foils sticking out if their hair, probably waiting for colors to set. Music playing, hair dryers blowing, stylists and customers conversing - not a place you can catch up on your sleep. My stylist was friendly and experienced and I felt safe letting her create a hair style that she thought would suit me. It looked great when she finished and might have the next morning if I could have had her re-style it again after I slept on it. Excuria is a good place to pamper yourself. Just save up for it. Or give a good sized gift card to your favorite person. read more
