Just speaking on events only the organization and venue was poor with No air conditioning. The Staff that I approached didn't know anything about how the events were set up or who was playing. To small for national acts. No seating unless preferred seating which was sold out the day the tickets went on sale. I stopped in and also called to obtain information about the show I was attending and nobody seemed to have a clue. What information I got was incorrect. In short seemed very poorly organized. I went a couple Tuesdays ago for Taco Tuesday and their happy hour specials were pretty decent. The atmosphere on the patio, along with the dozen volleyball courts makes for a fun, upbeat environment. Definitely a great place to take friends for a fun happy hour before heading to Park Street or the Short North! I particularly enjoyed the guy hanging from the ceiling holding the keg... Made for a great laugh! Overall, I feel it was a place to have a good time! read more

I'd give this a 0 but it requires at least 1 Star to post. This new menu is truly repulsive. The food was comparable to a horrible high school consession stand. Seriously, who puts CARROTS AND CAULIFLOWER on loaded fries. Not to mention it was served on arcade style dirty trays. Do not recommend. Semi decent bar, absolutely horrid food. This place is bad. How bad? Well, like a bar located next to a highway behind a gas station bad. Do you like concrete? They have plenty of that. A cavernous, concrete, soulless sports bar for your average college student. Aside from having a good happy hour, this place has nothing to offer. You can get a few craft beers on tap for cheap ($2) from 4-8 (I think) but it seems to be a Bud Light kind of place. On their menu a lot of things are listed as being "INFERNO"--whatever that means. I think it is a brand name because even the coleslaw is INFERNO. Sounds like everything is probably cooked to a crisp in molten lava. Yum. Actually, it would have been nice to have eaten here because the plan had been to come to this place and watch OSU play in the NCAA tournament, get some wings, drink ourselves silly, and then watch the USMNT play Costa Rica that night. Unfortunately the management didn't look at a calendar and thought they would staff as though it was a Monday (REMINDER: this was ON A FRIDAY with OSU men's basketball team playing in a playoff game-- you can't possibly staff enough people). We had a server--kind of-- that would come by maybe every hour--maybe. She probably had 10 tables that I could count, each with an average of 7 or more people, so when she came by with our drinks an hour after we ordered them we would order 2 to 3 rounds of drinks just in case we would be thirsty at some point in the night. I felt bad for her, I really did. She had no chance. At one point she just brought a big check and had one of the guys write up all the separate checks, which we did obligingly, because she knew there was no way she had time. I went to the bar to try to order some food because by that point the server had given up on trying to come to the table. I ordered a burger with fries and explained to the bartender that I didn't have a server. He asked where I was sitting in this crush of people and I tried to explain to him where it was. He said, "are you going to be looking for me?" I said yes but who knows how long it was going to take them to bring it out. After an hour and a half during which I was trying to look for the guy, I went up to the bar and just told him to take it off my card because there was no point now. He said, " I tried looking for you. Were you looking for me?" Dude, I would have waited at the food window for my burger if I could have but unfortunately I can't do all your jobs. Fortunately he knew that I was right and took it off my bill. Maybe it was just a bad night but when you have management that shoot themselves and all their employees in the foot like that, it seems to say something else. I obviously won't be going back but I'm sure all the well-vodka and Bud Light drinking crowd will continue to flock by the masses to this place. Have fun with that. read more

My first time visiting was since it was the Loose Goose Tavern. Not a lot has changed some things are better and some things are worse. The outside area still looks about the same with sand volleyball courts and plenty of outdoor seating. The inside is pretty much the same as well except they have redone the bar and the side room that was usually empty when is was the Loose Goose that they have now converted into a live music area. They still have the wooden bench style seats in the main area where they appeared to have a DJ or a TouchTunes Jukebox playing. We made our way to the live music area as our friend was playing in a band. This area is the single biggest improvement at the bar, the acoustics sounded great and the music that way playing in the main area of the bar did not disturb what was going on in the live music area. We had a very attentive waitress which is also an improvement from the previous ownership. The bar had a fairly decent beer selection on tap and there were TV's everywhere you turned playing various sporting events so it would probably be a great place to watch a game. However, the biggest problem with this place is the food, absolutely disgusting. It is of the same quality you would find at your local gas station. Apparently, the new owners do not have any culinary expertise or know anyone with any as they have chosen to used branded food service products as their flagship items; Inferno Burger & Romeo's Pizza. Our table tried both burgers and pizza and neither was anything to write home about, we ate them only because we were starving. The flavors were very bland and had the consistency of cardboard that had been laying under a fast food heat lamp for several hours. The kind of food that just sits in the pit of your stomach for hours while your body attempts to digest all those preservatives. Aside from the food the place was really dead, not many people at all likely just locals from the apartment complex across the street besides the crowd that was there watching the band. The bar also had one of those punching bag machines which is always an attraction for the meat heads, so that is kind of annoying to sit and listen to. All in all Woodlands Backyard is OK, but not really a destination you would be dying to go to on a regular basis. They have a lot of outdoor seating, great attentive service, and a nice live music area. They at least have an identity as a sports bar which is something the Loose Goose always struggled with as they could never make up their mind if they were a casual sports bar or "downtown" bar with bottle service and VIP areas. However, the food is just awful and would not recommend it to anyone nor would I ever order it again unless they made a change. read more

I won 3 Neofill lcertificates worth $180 when it was the Goose. It changed ownership, and the new owners offered $.50 on the dollar after many phone calls and getting a lawyer involved. As this place is owned now by a lawyer, it is easy to see why there is no value to customer satisfaction. I told them if they would refund the money I paid, I would be happy and use them for entertaining. They stopped returning my calls. Well, my last gathering had over 60 people. I imagine they could have made their money back in the first 10 minutes of my party. Glad they did not. Screw you Screw you Screw you Woodlands Backyard and the lawyer who owns it. read more

For beers and TVs and good, greasy food, you can't do much better. The Gooeyz menu was surprisingly good, and the beer selection is miles ahead of the BW3's of the world. There are plenty of TV's, and a giant projection screen in the one room that is ideal for watching a big game. The decor isn't anything special, but this place is what it is. Easy parking and not much of a crowd. Highly recommend for game watching, beer drinking, or both. read more

Attended the Leon Russell Concert last night. It was the most unorganized, overbooked event I have ever attended. Do not waste your time or money if you would like to actually see or hear a band or singer perform. Also, the food was truly horrid. read more

We met friends for dinner at Woodland's Backyard last night after reading the reviews for Preston's and because of the central location for all parties. All I can say is perhaps it is best to stick to the burgers and cheese curds. We started with salt and vinegar fries which were mediocre with little salt or vinegar flavor; the funyons came to the table in a pool of grease; thankfully the cheese curds were good. I had the pork belly, which was deep fried to a crisp. Biting into the meat extracted the entire piece from the bun. It was not consumable by humans, and the sandwich had way too much bbq sauce on it, perhaps in an attempt to hide the fact it was completely overcooked. My husband ordered the fish sandwich, which lacked flavor, except for the toppings. One end of the fish fillet had the texture of the pork served to me, which broke the fillet in two revealing the other end to still be frozen! We will not be back. read more

We have been coming to this place for years and always enjoyed the food. The past month the food has been terrible and over priced, especially the pizza. We only keep going here because the wait staff are excellent, Aaron, Teresa, and the rest of the bar crew. We can only hope that the original pizza and appitizers rejoin the menu. read more

I was impressed with this place. I read negative reviews about the food and atmosphere but glad I ignored them. This place is huge and offers things for everyone. Mini bowling, volleyball, pool tables, big screen tv and music. We ordered pizza and it was very good. Service there was quick and friendly. When someone wrote it is tucked behind a gas station, it made me think of a dive. Far from the truth, it is very nice place and was glad I went. read more

The volleyball league is enjoyable and well organized. However the table service leaves something to be desired. The servers are not very attentive. They will get the first round without issue however in order to order food or a second drink you have to flag your server down and then they don't take the rest of your tables orders. It's been a issue multiple times and with various servers. The food is decent bar food. And things are well priced. read more
