This shop is incredibly unprofessional and, frankly, predatory toward women. My wife brought her Jeep in and was charged $1,000 for "electrical wiring" issues. They claimed they ran a full diagnostic and confirmed there were no other problems. ​One day later, the Jeep broke down again. When she brought it back, they suddenly claimed she needed an entirely new transmission--something they conveniently "missed" during the initial diagnostic. It felt like a blatant attempt to take advantage of her. We had the car towed to another shop where we received much better service and a significantly lower quote. I normally don't write reviews but I had to let consumers know that this place does not offer convenience at all. I took my car in this morning, 8 am and they told me I had 6 cars ahead of me and needed my car for 2 days for a diagnosis. I asked if I could make an app, could I bring back another day, could they use my current diagnosis, if they don't get to it today can I pick it up and not loose my place in line when I bring it next day; The answer was no, no, no, no. I was so frustrated I took my car elsewhere and was serviced right away. I would not recommend this place if you have time constraints. read more

3/26/2024 Took my truck in to have exhaust manifold bolts replaced. $1515.87 kinda of pricey. They replaced heater hoses cause they said they were brittle. But before that I had a new engine install elsewhere and the hoses were not bad. When they replaced heater hoses one of the hoses was not attached securely. Me not knowing trusting that everything was installed properly, I was driving to Midway airport couple blocks before airport engine light was flashing. Didn't think nothing of it, when I got back after 9 days outta town the same problem happen blocks away from my house but this time it was smoking under the hood. Antifreeze was running hitting manifold creating smoke. I got to my garage popped the hood, I barely grabbed the hose that was leaking bad over manifold The left hose came off very easy it was not tight or attached securely. I made a video of it. I called Woodlawn auto care quickly they said were full So you will have to bring it another day. New engine running bad after losing antifreeze from nectligence and not paying attention to the work at hand read more

I'm going to cut right to the chase: DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE IF YOU DON'T LIKE BEING OVERCHARGED AND JERKED AROUND! I was in a bind with my vehicle, and this place had done some work on my mom's car a while ago; I figured this would be a viable option. My car was stalling and misfiring, so I opted to have the car towed here via my insurance since it was the closest option at the time. They call back a day later and give me the 'doom-and-gloom' news about needing a new fuel pump because I had some contaminated fuel. They told me that the fuel that I put in the tank was kerosene, but I later had a saved portion of the fuel contents tested, and the lie detector test determined...THAT WAS A LIE! The ethanol balance was higher, thus it did cause problems, but their solution/diagnosis was not very helpful at all. They complete the job in about 5 days, and upon driving the car around, everything seemed to be functioning back to normal...until I noticed the fuel gauge not accurately detailing the contents of the tank as I'm used to. The fuel range is totally off, so of course I go back there to consult them on what may cause that. The guy just says 'leave it and we'll take a look at it', to which I gracefully declined. Why should I be without my vehicle for them to look at something on their leisure time when I basically paid an estimated $1,000 for this repair??? At the heart of any dishonest and crappy repair shop is their lack of explaining things to the customer, and giving them some reasonable options to get the necessary repair done with consideration of the consumer's budget. They charged me $24.95 per spark plug, when I checked the item number soon after, and saw the same plugs available for $8.99. Of course they would order the most expensive fuel pump at the full MSRP of $496.92, but I went to the official dealer parts website to find the same part for as low as $218.26 (online rate). Big difference! Needless to say, my fuel gauge is not the same, and I really don't know how much fuel I have until it hits empty, simply because they failed to do an adequate job with the repair; simply just to make a few more dollars. Most quality shops will offer an appointment to assess any issues related to a recent repair. Not this one. They don't tell you anything...just stick you with a king's ransom invoice and the job is utter garbage. If you're going to pay full price for automotive work, might as well take it to the dealer. At least you'll know it'll be fixed properly. Oh, upon dropping my car off here, I noticed some of the workers love to play soccer in the open field adjacent to the shop. That's probably why their service is so crappy; the mechanics are too busy trying to practice for the World Cup instead of PUTTING IN WORK ON PEOPLE'S CARS! What a farce this place is. Take my humble-yet-honest advice yelpers: DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! If your car breaks down in front of this shop, and it's the only thing open, just don't bother. Burn your car in the middle of 95th street. That's a more humane fate for your car than taking it here. If you can't afford to set your car ablaze, just have it towed (or taken) to a shop that at least has 4 star ratings on yelp. read more

The person told me I needed new Control Arms and quoted a $975.00 price. I kindly told him I would pick my truck up. Bought in 2000 Honda Accord for coolant leak. Was told repairs required: cooling fan assembly, radiator, radiator cap, thermostat, gasket set and ground wire. Quoted $793 radiator work and $ 100 for ground wire. I declined work at that time and was told the $69.99 inspection fee would go towards work upon return. However when I returned 4/26/17 for the ground wire repair; I was told the $69.99 credit will only go towards the radiator work not the $100 ground wire repair. Beware!!! read more

This place sucks I got there at 8:30 am and was told there were 6care before me just for them to look at my car about 13 cars and 6 hours they got around to me. I was to old I need a new radiator and heater core for 1k plus. Did not even try to see if they could back flush the old one as it was just clogged and not leaking. I am of the opinion the took the easy route for the quick 69.99 service charge.Had they checked the car 6th as was stated at 8:30 there still would have been time to get to a real shop. I would give them a half star i. it were an option Good place if all you need is an oil change and you are better off going to one of the quick oil change places you will spend less time waiting. read more

Called and spoke to owner he said to bring it back when I did a few days later they tell me I have a leak and estimated the work to be $1200. Just had my work truck serviced by these guys. They tuned it up, fixed the muffler, replaced some engine coils, and fully inspected it. They were honest, clear spoken, and had my truck ready in just a couple days. It's running smooth as silk now. When I got a second opinoin they told me that WOODLAWN AUTO new when they did my transmission, that my engine was also bad. I'm a mother of four boys who needed my car. This place was recommeded eventhough I had a price quote for $1,400 elsewhere. They took my money knowing that my engine was also going out. I had an issue with something called a trsnsmission oil cooler. Fixed my car after I brought it back the second time; the first time after I left with the car a couple of days later it overheated and I had to sit on the side of the road while the car cooled off, but when I finally got it back to them, they repaired it with no charge. They did fix the car, but they used an estimate they found in the car from a previous visit to another shop (they repaired exactly what was on the other estimate.) This was the second time that I dealt with Woodlawn Auto; the 1st time it was for an injector and a couple of oil gaskets, one for the oil pan, the other for the valve cover. They do decent work, but like everything else, you have to give a technician a reasonable amount of time to get the job done. I guess I should mention the kind of car I have; it's a Dodge Intrepid, the one with the 2.7L engine, which I've been told is a nightmare to work on, let alone own. Now I'm having a problem with the transmission, but before I attribute the new problem to Woodlawn, I'm gonna take it somewhere else to see what they say. read more

They care more about decorating the building than fixing the car. If you have the money to spend you might as well take your car back to the dealership.
