Great service. Delicious food! Came here with work colleagues. Had the window table with a set menu for the group.

It's a solid 3.5.. I don't know what it is... Foods delicious service was great, Patrick's a good man, but there's MISSING something, I just can't put my finger on it. Maybe it's the area, the people... Really can't figure it out. The only thing they didn't have was prime rib burger which we did want to try but there were other great options The server surprised us with some crispy kale and it was delicious. Some favourite dishes was the foie, scallop, steak and for dessert the smore. Oh and they make a nice espresso martini. The girls and I love a place that makes a good Marini. Overall worth going for a tasty dinner and the atmosphere is nice, a little dark but nice vibe overall

One word to describe my overall experience here is -SALTY. Don't get me wrong, the dishes were delicious, but just very salty. I was thirsty for the remainder of the night. Service here was great, minus we felt extremely rushed to order with the waiter coming back 3 times to check if we were ready. I would understand if the restaurant was busy but there were only 3 tables total when we were seated. They served bread and it was a thin baguette slice and a thin small slice of focaccia per person. While I think it's great when restaurants offer you bread to start I think it's a bit ridiculous to give you so little. You might as well not serve any bread at all (or maybe I'm just being greedy lol). To start we shared the organic Ontario green salad and honestly nothing special to report. Just literally a regular salad. We also shared the wild digby scallops which are normally $24 for TWO scallops. While I find scallop appetizers are expensive in Toronto, this is a bit much to charge $12 for one. Perfectly cooked but salty. For my main I had the squash ravioli. Perfect al dente and the ravioli had a lot of squash inside which is always the best! However, this was ruined by the EXTREMELY salty sauce and spinach that was part of the dish. Also, the AC is poor here. We were all hot and sweating - the July weather outdoors was less hot than inside the restaurant.

Elk dish and kale chips. Both amazing!

It was snowing out. We wanted to find a nice place close to where we were staying to walk to. Wow what a wonderful surprise!! The charm and atmosphere of live piano started the mood. The hosts hooked us up with Drinks and charm. But the best part was the Food!! It was mouth watering! Amazing beet salad, if you like kale chips don't pass these up they are melt in your mouth good. I had Elk a first for me and it didn't disappoint! Hubby had the scallops. We definitely recommend this quaint restaurant.

This was the bread we were served after a 1.5 hour wait past our reservation time we made

This place is the WORST dinning establishment I have EVER been to. I made a reservation with my boyfriend for an 8pm dinner. We arrived at 7:45pm to make sure we were early. We were greeted by a man who told us to sit at the bar. The Irish man behind the bar gave us two beers to drink. After 30 minutes of waiting, we asked were our table was. The Irish man said that we were next to be seated. Fast forward after 3 walk-ins were seated, We were still pissing around at the bar. Finally I asked the host where our table was and he said we had to make a reservation... I was pissed. How the hell are you that stupid that you don't realize that your 8pm table who arrived at 745 that you sat at the bar...ISNT a rezo. After complaint after complaint we finally got seated around 9:15... And yes the close at 10pm. We ordered our food, and out came out charcuterie board that had no-frills level of deli meat and 3 pieces of kraft single slices and a 2 week old piece of bread.... The butt end too. I was like this..... We get this for $35!!! I can't wait to see what my $60 tenderloin looks like. 10pm came and went. Finally it was 10:15 and they asked us if we wanted the bill... I said WHAT HAPPENED TO MY DINNER? he's like....oooohhh you wanted that? I'm like excuse us while we both take our coats to go to the bathroom.... How in the EARTH do you treat your customers like that I think it's ok. 0/10 won't go back and would never recommend

Have been meaning to come to Woods Restaurant (@woodstoronto) since AKS event here and I had change our reservation several time due to our schedule. We finally made it there the day before Ben's birthday this past Friday. Somehow they have been following me on twitter and learn about his bday, Chef Bruce Woods (formally Brasaii, Centro & Modus) kindly greeted us with Sparkling Wine as we sat down. With a quick one-month renovation from the former Colborne Lane space, the high ceiling, exposed brick with wooden theme throughout the space. The space was very inviting especially with the large windows that bring in some natural light. Very elegant and yet has an organic feel to it The wine list range from local to imports and are all very reasonably priced form $10-15 a glass and most bottles from $40-75 while some pricier ones like a $380 Tuscan Red is also available. While the beer list are mostly local Canadian microbrews. Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 Crew (Ontario) $65 We originally wanted to go with a safe one from Tawse that we had before but our server suggested this one saying that it's one of his favorite. I am surprise that he notice that we wanted something local and suggest an Ontario wine to us. Never heard of this winery before but love the strong robust flavor of this wine with a rather chewy tannis finish. Loved it so much that we are tempted to go to the winery one day. Yes, I know it's a boring picture of a piece of bread but I just wanted to mention that they made their this sour dough bread in house and it was so good that I think I had at least 3 slices. Seared Quebec Foie Gras $19 ~ Purple potato puree, lobster mushrooms, bacon crispy confit, Saskatoon Compote ~ I can never resist ordering foie gras each time I see it on the menu and this was no exception. ~ Not only was it cook perfectly but doesn't it look so pretty with the purple potato puree, the greens on the blank white plate... it's like a piece of art work. Venison Carpaccio $16 ~ Black Trumpets, Wild Leek, Corn Nuts, Seedlings ~ We were pleasantly surprise at how tender this venison can be, it was perfectly seasoned with the right amount of gaminess to it which was further complimented by the trumpets and the crunchiness of the corn nuts. ~ Ben is having a really tough time forgetting this =P The most delicious Mini Hot Dog you can ever have.... perfect crispy casing, perfect flavor, perfect sweet relish and a perfect toasted soft pillowy roll. Thanks Chef for this amazing fun amuse. Roasted Muscovy Duck Breast $28 ~ Tatsoi, shallot, sourdough croutons, crispy confit, dried cherries, duck egg béarnaise ~ This was cook so perfect, just how I like it since I do find it overcook and chewy in a lot of places. ~ The duck itself was very lightly seasoned which work here so that I can taste the natural duck flavor which was further complimented by the tart cherries and slight mustard-y kick from the tatsoi. Chicken Cordon Blue $26 ~ Prosciutto cotto, monforte paradiso, chicken jus, Jerusalem artichoke, roasted pepper & black olive salad ~ Ben was so tempted to order the steak and chose this one instead since chicken tends to take more skills to cook than steak. ~ This was no disappointment, although being all white chick breast meat it was tender and juicy with a thin crispy outer layer. ~ It was perfect with the intense chicken jus and the olives salad on the side. Buckthorn Pavlova $11 ~ Buckthorn curd, milk chocolate ganache, black sesame ice cream ~ What a cute presentation and thanks for doing this even though I didn't requested it (^_^) ~ Even though it was so pretty and we weren't sure if we should dig in, we eventually did after admiring it for a minute and everything on this dish (except for the candle) was so delicious. Raspberry Macaronnade $11 ~ Mascarpone mousse, basil ice cream, macaroon, raspberry tuile, texture of raspberry, salted pine nuts ~ The smooth and light mousse was interlace with raspberry coulis was just a beauty in the Manson jar with all the raspberry seeds peeking through. ~ I also love how the use the jar lid to hold the ice cream but presentation aside, the basil ice cream can easily hold it's own ground and need I say extra bonus point from me since I love basil (yes, I love it so much that I can munch on it). ~ This is the perfect summer dessert, light and not overly sweet with a fresh outdoor airy feel to it. Verdict : ~ Haven't had such a fantastic meal from start to finish for a long time. ~ Great friendly, attentive and knowledgeable service ~ Great tasting and Great presentations ~ Great spacious settings, def no listening to next table conversation. ~ I already miss this place and hopefully I will go back soon.

    Organic Ontario green salad
    Martina N.

We had a large group from my work come here for a holiday lunch so we had a prix fixe menu which contained items from their regular menu. My meal consisted of the organic Ontario green salad, Pacific black cod and cinnamon sugar donuts for dessert. The service was very professional and classy, but didn't feel stuffy like some fancier restaurants. The atmosphere was bright and shabby chic. Most importantly the food was delicious! The cod melted in my mouth! The donut serving was huge. It was too much for me to finish and I have a big appetite. The other options were chicken cordon bleu and the lamb burger. Nobody had a bad thing to say about their meal. Highly recommended!

Toronto Review 4/Many: I went to this excellent Lanzhou spot with another person as one of my…read moreearlier meals. Our server, Sophia, was bubbly and friendly, giving suggestions and helping with the ordering process for the other person who wasn't as sure what they wanted. We eventually went with two appetizers and two entrees, which was more than enough food, and honestly, we could have only ordered one appetizer. The better of the two appetizers was the CAD 8.95 Hand Shredded Pepper Chicken/手撕椒麻雞/Shou Si Ji. The dish consists of cold chicken in a flavorful sauce, topped with some greens. The chicken was tender, with a mild, pleasant spice and a bit of numbingness from the Sichuan peppercorns, along with some fragrance, presumably from sesame oil. It reminded me a bit of salivating chicken you find in some Szechuan spots, but it was more aromatic and a bit less spicy. The other appetizer was the Steamed Edamame/岩鹽毛豆 with Himalayan pink salt for CAD 5.95. The other person chose between this and the vegetable dumplings, as he avoids pork, and it was, of course, lighter than the other appetizer. The decent portion of edamame was topped with some pickled carrots as a garnish. My main dish was the Braised Beef Noodles/紅燒牛肉面/Hong Shao Niu Rou Mian. The dish included several options, including size, noodle style, and spice level. I chose the large for CAD $20.95, medium spice, and for the noodle style, I chose flat/宽面, as it was closest to the prism style I like at Lanzhou spots in the States. Along with these, I also added a tea egg for an extra CAD 2.95. Outside the add-on, the dish also had a couple of large slices of radish. Compared to some spots in NYC, I slightly preferred the QQ/bouncy texture of the noodles at a spot near me. However, the broth was better here with a balanced amount of mala, though I would likely order spicy next time, as I tend to add chili oil to the relatively lighter Lanzhou broths. The beef was also much better, being tender with a mild chew regardless of whether it was tendon or other cuts. The tea egg was flavorful and worth the add-on, especially when the inside was dipped further into the broth. I can see why others order this. The other person went with the Signature Stir-fried Noodles/招牌炒面/Chao Tatiaozi. There was an option of protein, and he went with Chicken for $17.95 and added the same egg. I tried a bit, and there was a pleasant pepperiness with a bit of numbing flavor, but less than my dish. The noodles had a good bounciness and overall had a slightly better chewiness than mine. This was lighter overall, but also tasty. This spot has apparently come to the US already at the Mall of America, and I would love it if there were a location closer to me. Good place.

The other noodle dishes I've tried from here have been consistently good as well. I recommend getting medium ones so sauce doesn't splash all over you like what happened to me! A great, affordable meal option.

They pride in using fresh and local ingredients served creatively, and always with new ideas and dishes with the tasting menu changing constantly to match what's in season. Some of the dishes really emphasized the freshness and the quality of the ingredients, showcased in our starting dish of asparagus, egg confit, cure pork and leeks. The salt was minimal, and it tasted so clean, fresh, and well put together. Paneer with makhni was also included playing heavily on the delicious Indian flavors that were so full of umami taste, I could not believe this dish did not have meat. The chicken was one of my favorites with a smoked butter sauce. I could not believe white meat could be this tender and moist and absorb flavor so well. The fish was also great, as was the dessert, a rhubarb tiramisu to give a tangy contrast to the mascarpone cream. This was tasting menu #248, and the menu will change about every 2 weeks it seems like, which is amazing. Finally, I loved that explicitly state that tips are not accepted despite the amazing service and elevated food. The station burger was the best burger of my life. I had originally wanted to order the duck, but knew at my first bite exactly why Richmond Station is so popular. The burger came medium rare and was pasture raised beef with aged cheddar and chutney. The fries were a tiny bit burnt but still good, and the aioli it came with was great. Yum! It's also been a reliable spot to be able to book tables for large groups. However, they have poor problem resolution if there are any issues that arise. Their food is all pretty good and drinks are fairly priced. Their staff are what I would call elusive and very no frills--beyond your first order, they're a bit hard to flag down to order additional items, settle bills, or otherwise. We had an incident where my friend ordered an alcohol-free beer, but when received, they had a sip and suspected it had alcohol in it because it tasted like the regular alcoholic version. We asked the staff to confirm if the drink they poured was actually alcoholic beer on tap, or if it was an emptied can of the alcohol-free beer. The staff came back and apologized, saying it was the alcoholic beer and poured from the tap but the order placed was indeed the alcohol-free beer. My friend then requested to have the can for the alcohol-free beer instead of poured in a glass to be safe, because she was pregnant. The staff then realized the gravity of the issue and went to get the can, saying we can keep the other glass. A few minutes later, someone who I presume to be a manager came over to say she had clarified the situation again and that it was actually NOT the alcoholic beer--which at this point we weren't inclined to trust. The manager did not apologize, but instead said that a bit of alcohol is okay when you're pregnant... We didn't say anything or raise a fuss, just smiled awkwardly. We left not too long after, and we were charged for the mistaken beer as well. This experience put a bit of damper on going to this place, as it was a frequent spot we visited for decent happy hour specials. However it's evident that staff do not know how to handle special circumstances, nor do they seem to have high EQ. If you are a person with no dietary needs, no wheelchair or crutches (because it's cramped as hell and the washrooms are located on the 2nd floor), not pregnant, and no allergies, then this place is probably fine. But if you have any of the above, then you should skip it in case of incident.

I grabbed a seat at the bar, ordered a drink, and listened to a podcast to wind down. It was exactly what I needed. The drink, Nutty Times, was not only delicious but the presentation was exciting too. The bartender was witty, he advised everyone near us at the bar to whip out our phones, because he was about to put on a show. Check out the video I added! After a while, my anxiety from the day began to wear off and it was time to eat. I asked if I was able to take it up to my room as a to-go order and they said that was no-go. Regardless, I enjoyed every bite. I did end up getting approval to take my dessert to-go. This made me very happy. It was a chocolate mouse-like thing, shaped like a heart (it was just after Valentine's Day). It came with berries and drizzled with chocolate. Very decadent. This was a very hip spot. The environment was buzzing with people in town for whatever reason, the staff was great, and the cocktail and food couldn't have been better.

We spoke with two bartenders that were both friendly, and willing to impart their spirits knowledge. Both cocktails were exceptional. They are expensive, but it's a Sheraton, so it was expected. Food was tasty, but pricy too. The bar is beautiful, so definitely a nice place to visit.

My first impression honestly made me wonder if it was really worth all the praise. By the end of the meal, I had my answer. Arugula Caprese Insalata A creative take on a classic Caprese salad. Arugula replaces basil, while a rich Parmesan cream stands in for fresh mozzarella, giving the dish a deeper, more savory profile without losing the freshness of the tomatoes. The balsamic balances the arugula's slight bitterness beautifully, and the juicy tomatoes cut through the richness of the cream. Fried capers add a pleasant burst of Mediterranean saltiness at the end. Simple ingredients, thoughtfully combined. Chicken Scarpariello This was easily the highlight of the meal. The chicken skin was beautifully seasoned and roasted until fragrant. Instead of being overly juicy, the meat was incredibly tender, with a faint blush of pink at the center. The Italian sausage had a firm, satisfying bite and a rich meaty flavor. I rarely describe roasted potatoes as "melt-in-your-mouth," but these truly were. The sauce, made with white wine, onions, peppers, and tomatoes, was so flavorful that I ended up using bread to wipe the plate clean--and still wished there had been more bread. Italian Love Cake A layered dessert of chocolate cake, ricotta cheesecake, and chocolate mousse. Each layer offered a different texture: the mousse was smooth without feeling heavy, the cake slightly dry, and the ricotta layer pleasantly crumbly. The texture was more memorable than the flavor, but it was surprisingly light to finish despite being a chocolate dessert. Tiramisu Although it's priced at $19.50, the portion is generous--about one and a half times the size of a typical tiramisu. The mascarpone was silky, rich, and pleasantly creamy with a touch of sweetness. The ladyfingers were well soaked with espresso and carried a subtle hint of liqueur. It tasted like a textbook tiramisu: everything was executed correctly, even if it wasn't particularly surprising. Many years from now, I may no longer remember the wildfire that day--but I'll probably still remember this chicken.

We had a pepperoni pizza, mushroom salad with arugula and frisée, and the pawn tagliatelle. We also had the prickly pear spritz and the lemonade. (The lemonade was better! Very refreshing with the addition of grapefruit.) The mushroom salad was fabulous. Nice and crispy, a healthy portion, and a light drizzle of balsamic.
