The exterior of the house is plush with bushes and grass with a garden. In the backyard area, there was a housed indoor pool - an unexpected surprise. Cindy, the innkeeper was fantastic! She was extremely warm and welcoming when we first arrived. She provided maps, points of interests, and fantastic restaurants to dine at while we were spending an extended weekend here. She was also the server at breakfast in the mornings. The Jackson House is located right on the outskirts of the heart of San Antonio. Every attraction, (The Riverwalk, Alamo and Alamo Plaza, Tower of the Americas, and lots of restaurants) were all within less than a mile of walking distance. So, besides being in a prime location, The Jackson House was a vintage throwback B&B with a southern charm feel. The room had a fireplace and a giant bathtub as well. In the early afternoons chocolate chip cookies, lemonade, and iced water were provided in the lobby guest area. Breakfast was freshly prepared each morning. You started with a cup of fruit and then served eggs or pancakes, home baked muffins, crisp bacon and or potatoes. Everything was tasty and packed with a hearty punch. The dining room was actually located in the main B&B inn called The Oge House - about 2 blocks away, which you can either walk to each morning or hop in the car for a quick drive. Overall, The Jackson House provided all the pleasant charms of a southern B&B that you'd come to expect. It certainly made my San Antonio getaway a special one!

Cookies and lemonade are kept in the dining area for afternoon snack. Didn't get to enjoy the pool but it's nice that we had the option! We will definitely be back!

I got a room overlooking the riverwalk and it was a treat getting to wake up and turn in for the night looking over the water. My room was spacious and met my expectations design-wise and amenity-wise from a property in the Tribute Portfolio. The fitness center, which also overlooks the river, is on the smaller side (2 treadmills, 2 ellipticals, free weights etc) but is sufficient for a basic workout. I also passed by the laundry room and it looks like it's free as I didn't see a slot for coins. Highly recommend the Sol Cypress if you're here to explore San Antonio!

Unfortunately, our anniversary stay became a cautionary tale in severe sanitation hazards and a complete breakdown in management accountability. When we turned on the in-room whirlpool jets, dark, organic sludge and particulate matter spewed directly into the tub. Even worse, the attached photos were all taken AFTER the hotel sent staff to "remediate" the room. Yes, the state in these photos are what they consider remediated. It was an immediate, glaring health and sanitation failure in the hotel's premier suite. Concurrently, a facility defect caused moisture to pool in the suite's closet area. This exposure completely ruined a limited-edition Louis Vuitton Keepall travel bag we had stored there, leaving it unusable due to a persistent, permeating odor. I documented everything and reached out to the property. On January 10th, the Assistant General Manager replied, apologizing and stating verbatim: "What you described is absolutely not the standard we hold ourselves to, and I am truly sorry that your stay, especially one meant to celebrate your anniversary, has been impacted in this way." I was assured the evidence was forwarded to the General Manager. Instead of fixing the physical hazard or taking responsibility for the ruined luggage, the General Manager completely reversed the hotel's stance a few days later. On January 16th, they sent a brief note stating they "now consider this matter closed" with zero resolution. I sent this entire documented timeline to Marriott Corporate to ask if they stand behind this kind of franchisee conduct. They failed to respond. If you are considering this property--especially their premium suite--proceed with extreme caution. The physical issues were bad enough, but the real liability here is a management team that will put an apology in writing one day, and completely refuse to resolve the issue the next, while Corporate looks the other way.

I wasn't traveling with my pups on this recent work trip, but will def remember that for the next time. This Kimpton Santo is a stone's throw from the convention center and a just a short walk to other points of attraction, like the River Walk, Hemisfair. I was booked for two nights (only stayed one night and they refunded me for the 2nd night, minus a "late checkout fee."). The hotel has a popular steakhouse, Deans, a very sexy bar, a side lounge to Dean's called The Study, and a rooftop lounge serving mediterranean-fare. (Reservations HIGH recommended for all.) There's also a pool, complimentary morning coffee/tea, complimentary wine happy hour. My room was a king with all the amenities a biz traveler could ask for: wifi, blackout curtains, hot shower... the ac fan was super loud and I couldn't figure out how to turn it off. Thank goodness for ear plugs. Check-in staff, doormen all offered excellent service.

All pretty annoying but keep reading for the kicker! Cleaning services? The first day I noticed it was 12 and no t one had been to our room to clean. I noticed when I returned that a toothpick I accidentally dropped on the floor wasn't picked up. The towels were left on the floor but the bed was haphazardly done. Second day? We left to walk the riverwalk and eat, when I returned at 3pm, the room was still a mess. I asked for them to come clean it... so where does one go in order to get out of the way? The pool naturally. Went upstairs to find 50+ drunk people in a pool. Nowhere to sit! Nosey me asked some of them and it turned out this hotel sells day passes. So as a guest you are expecting to be able to use the facilities but treated like a nuisance if you don't drink or aren't hungry enough to buy food. I sat at a cabana that they wanted to charge me 300 dollars for, watching various families that I saw the day before get turned around because the place had nowhere to sit. You are treated like the issue because their day pass guests are making them money. I brought up the issue to the management that the room wasn't cleaned and they apologized and said Themis isn't how they run things. However! The next day, we left at 12 for lunch and returned at 450 pm to a room that was not cleaned. The same quip response from their manager... this isn't how we run things blah blah blah! So if this isn't how you run things? Am I being singled out? It took a few minutes to confirm that everyone is treated like a nuisance. I saw a woman pulling her own bag cart to her room. Tons of people standing around watching her attempt to open the door with her cart. The manager, some short man with red hair and ill fitting suit is a expert at gas-lighting and must've graduate from the university of word vomit! He needs to be let go because clearly his staff don't respect him enough to change. Either that or he can't be bothered to lead his team! You want a better experience? Stay at the Monarch or the plaza next door!

BUT, as others have said it's super clean. More clean (and AC on upon arrival) than I experienced on a recent Studio 6 in Alvin, Texas. I get the rules but there are some that won't burn you. Drink a beer and put your butts in the can outside the room. Nothing to clean up but a can. Unless I'm toting about four hoes then I think you're safe Boerne Motel 6 owners with the fancy BMWs under carports in the front. Billion security cameras too so you're safe from the rich folks of Kendall County

With my lease quickly approaching an end, I recently stopped by to tour this property and I left…read morefeeling confused by what demographic they're targeting and underwhelmed just by the finish outs and amenities. First off, to be able to fairly compare these to other units you have to understand their business model, which is to be the T-Mobile of apartments - offering transparent, all-inclusive pricing with no hidden fees. That means no deposit, application fees, cable/internet, electricity, pest control, trash or water fees. The apartments here are 525 sq ft and run $1275 unfurnished. The biggest problem I foresee with these units, is that they feel so outdated compared to a lot of the apartments entering the market. When you enter your unit you walk right into a stacked washer and dryer (no door or anything), you're surrounded by a sea of white appliances and cheap flooring and finish-outs (i.e. no walk-in closet, cheap vinyl-looking countertops). You also can't upgrade the internet or TV packages (which are U-Verse and DirectTV respectfully). The "business center" is really a nook or desk with a single computer and printer and not much room for anything else on it. So why the 2-star review? Am I against transparent pricing? Of course not! But when you look at area apartments you have to wonder who the audience is. Most apartments in the area are offering apartments between 597-729 sq feet at rates of between $785-$999. At these apartments, you have higher levels of finish out like Whirlpool stainless steel appliances, islands with pendant lights, wine racks / coolers, resort style pools, multi-level, full-sized gyms, granite/quartz in the kitchen and bathrooms with decorative backsplashes, updated plumbing (i.e. Moen) fixtures, modern touches (i.e. Nest thermostats, free Amazon Alexas, built-in speakers for bluetooth music streaming, option for gigabit internet speeds), rooftop terraces with expansive views and an actual business center with multiple workstations and room for residents (plural) to sit and work (many in the form of dedicated conference rooms or study spaces in student housing). And by the time you add in fees and other costs you break even if not come out slightly more expensive. It's worth noting that apartments with higher numbers of vacancies don't mind waiving admin and security deposit fees or even giving free months of rent away to fill units and these are available to everyone. So then I started to think maybe students are the target audience with the proximity to UTSA. The issue here is there are a lot of properties and homes popping up catering to students and the finish outs and amenities are getting better and better as well. For instance, for $1125-$1199, one can net a fully furnished unit with gigabit internet, HBO, 50" LED TV and all utilities except electricity paid. This is in an upgraded unit with stainless steel, granite, etc. They also waive admin and deposit fees and give you 1/2 off a month's rent. And this is a 576 sq foot unit. The lady (short, looked like Thelma from Scooby Doo with black hair) giving the tour was telling me that they have the same finish outs and I'm equally concerned about them for competition there too. At $139 (current rate) a night they're more expensive than a king sized suite with sofa bed at the Drury Inn and Suites, $30 less than the king sized room at the all-suite SpringHill Suites and $20 less than the king, 2-room suite at the new Embassy Suites. It's worth noting that this place is literally surrounded by (3) Hiltons and (3) Marriotts (soon to be four) so there's also loyalty programs and pricing that may also make these a more attractive option. In summary, if I were the owner of these apartments/hotels I'd start putting money aside for "refreshing and modernizing" because for a brand new place, the units already look very dated and they're not very competitively priced for the area / level of finish. As a side note, they were telling us that the apartments weren't ready for move-in yet so for now, you'd be staying at the hotel and would get 50% off a month's rent price and move into an actual apartment unit once they're ready.

We discovered the King William Manor's "Stonehouse" on VRBO and made a decision to stay there for our entire vacation. First off, Allison, with whom we dealt primarily, was very helpful. Not only did she help us with the rental by ensuring everything was ready upon our arrival, but she was incredibly useful by providing us lots of good tips on how to get around and where to eat. The Stonehouse, itself, was just what we were looking for: a chic, stylish home away from home that was also highly functional, clean, ideally located, and not overly pricey. Add the adjacent pool and it was a no-brainer to stay here. Allison and Craig have obviously put a lot of time and effort into renovating this home. Although it looks very unassuming from the outside, it boasts a lot of nice touches inside such as new paint and tile, new granite countertops, a nice HD flatscreen TV, huge master bath, new washer and dryer, and some pretty posh furniture options. It was perfect for me and my wife, along with our daughter and my 74 y/o father. Everything works and the house is/was immaculate. WIFI is fast and reliable. A nearby HEB grocery store is only .5 miles away if you need groceries. Numerous trendy cafes, bars, and restaurants line S. Alamo street upon which this house is situated. Two nearby VIVA bus stops make getting around SUPER easy and cheap. The southern end of the famed River Walk is a five minute walk away. Street traffic is minimal and generally quiet. We all slept well during our stay, especially since the provided beds and linens are so comfortable and soft. Seriously, this place is a hidden gem. It is perfect for a small family or two couples wanting to visit San Antonio. Centrally located to River Walk, Tower if the America's, and numerous dining options (I strongly recommend Rosario's, just up the street), Stone House is a perfect San Antonio vacation rental property.

The property consists of two historical houses, an inground pool behind the houses, a smaller house where the owners live, and a good-sized yard surrounding the whole thing. Craig is gifted glass blower and a few of his pieces have been incorporated into the decor (check out the tasteful, contemporary update on the chandelier in the main house.) Each room is individually decorated, and some great paintings from a local artist adorn the common areas in both houses. Alison is quick to help with directions, suggestions, or assistance with arrangements for local activities. The couple take the comfort of their guests very seriously, to the extent of expanding their culinary repertoire for the purpose of serving a unique breakfast each morning. A three minute walk will get you to the river trail (paved walking or biking trail) which provides a naturally scenic route to the Riverwalk. Alternatively, you can walk through the historic district and into downtown San Antonio and the Riverwalk. But with local artist galleries, several nearby restaurants (two of which are outstanding), and a great outdoor "neighborhood" bar/pub, you won't need to go anywhere to enjoy yourself.
