Beginner woodworking hobbyist in the Tucson area. Was guided here by the shop I'm working in. When I brought my purchases up to the register, the guy took an unusual about of time ringing up my items (6pieces total), when the total came up it was almost double what I thought it was going to be based on the signage and price labels on the wood itself. When I got the receipt, he charged me an extra piece of wood as well as for the premium wood, rather than the less expensive domestic wood that I was purchasing. Literally got ripped off. The manager, Danny, and Alfredo were a really big help! I took a set of bifold closet doors to be cut for me. After the closet doors were cut and I took them home, I noticed that there was a mistake with one of the doors. One door was cut in the wrong side. I called them right away and let them know. Danny, the manager, went out of his way to do everything he could to make things right for us. Danny replaced the doors for us and personally made sure that the new closet doors were cut exactly how I needed them. I would recommend Woodworkers Source to anyone cause of the Danny and Alfredo. Best place to go for wood! I own two laser machines and purchase loads of wood for my projects. I've tried Home Depot several times before finding this place and they were no help. The wood I needed weren't natural enough. When I came down to this place, I was offered their membership to get discounts! I immediately signed up and off I went to pick out my wood. 2 years later, I am still here because that's how good their wood can cut with my laser machine! One bummer thing with the pandemic is that wood has gone up dramatically but local businesses need our help! Can't speak for their brick & mortar store but be weary about ordering online. I just found out that they are not posting any new reviews. I left one about 2 weeks ago and still not up. Then I checked and they haven't posted a new review since 2024 on their 4/4 Walnut. It may have good reviews, but that is because they take out the bad ones and don't allow new ones. They will gladly take your money, but will not listen to the customers. Ordered 30 bd ft of 4/4 walnut. Received the correct amount which was 7 boards total. 2 had massive bows and 2 had large 1 1/4 knots right in the middle of the boards. One going all the way through and the other about 1/2" deep. 3 boards were great, had to epoxy the 2 with knots, and can't use the 2 with bows. Would have to remove too much material. I just cannot imagine that the picker wouldn't check these things before sending out to a customer spending over $700. Then on top of it, not allowing my review. If you can go into the store, that's fine, but be cautious about ordering online. read more

The counter person was very nice and took my credit card with my rosewood card and rung me up for 1/4" birch plywood. But I must say the cut guy in the back was very little help. Once I measured the door of my van with my tape and told him the 5'x5' would not fit he cut 6" off the piece and acted like he was doing me a great favor. Then did nothing to help when I was struggling loading it through the van doors. All he had to do was hold the door open but he didn't even do that. You would think he would at least help a bit, but I think he thought that would be a strain to his day. I did make a call and let the counter person know he was no help at all. I'll think twice before going back for that treatment! read more

This is a great company with which to do business. I recently purchased 100 sq. ft. of maple, plywood, veneer and tools at this store and the service was about as good as it can get. Rick in particular was helpful throughout the lengthy process. Having been a professional woodworker, Rick is very knowledgeable and was able to answer any questions I asked. The prices can be a little high, but if you join their Rosewood club you get significant discounts, so it works out well. I highly recommend Rick and Woodworker's Source. It is worthwhile to visit this store just to see the gorgeous exotic hardwoods they carry. I was recently in this store. First time in and in the beginning was a pleasant experience, I was looking around as I have never seen so many different types of wood. I made my selections as i only needed a track for a router table I am making. There was long haired gentleman who was ringing me up and he asked if I would like to join the club for 20 dollars, i declined politely as I did not have an extra 20 dollars to join. I asked instead if they had a military discount, this is when "the manager" Danny Lopez quickly chimes in with a , "NO!", ordinarily I would not take offence as there are some establishments that don't have it and that's fine with me, except this manager said it with a hate and a glare that was confrontational. It made me feel uncomfortable, that's when the gentleman that was actually helping me said that in fact they do have it and gave me the military discount. I feel that the manager Danny Lopez only reacted in retaliation of my decline to join the club for 20.00 maybe he perhaps took offence to my financial situation/budget that he knows nothing about. This is unfortunate as this was my first experience and my first impression of this store. It's hard to say whether or not I'll be back. read more

Been here several times over the past year working on a set of cabinets for a home we are remodeling. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They have the latest and greatest wood working tools on the floor, and the staff is more than willing to come out and show me how they work and demo their features. They also have several online videos demonstrating different woodworking techniques, and we have been working on maple with a de-waxed shellac and solar lux finish. The folks here were able to help us find all the materials we've needed to follow the instructions correctly, and they look amazing. We've also used them for sanding services since they have the largest belt sander in town. Cabinets are looking good. Thanks guys! read more

This is a mixed review. The guys at the counter were OK and were reasonably helpful. But the guy that does the milling in the back of the store is one of rudest people I have met. The day before I had picked out a board, paid for it and wrote out the dimensions for the four pieces I wanted cut. I asked that be done the next day. I was told it would be done by closing (5pm). I come in about 4:30pm and ask the guy that does the milling (Gary?) if my order was done. He replied...."I haven't done it yet" and walked out to do something in back of the building. I hung around about 5 minutes and when he did not come back, I asked the counter guy about my order. He found it.... all cut and bundled. I took the bundle apart and EVERY PIECE was cut incorrectly in at least one dimension. How hard can this be especially with the equipment they have? Since the milling guy was still busy taking out the garbage (or whatever he was doing), the counter guy took care of my pieces in about 5 minutes. They are at least cut to the right dimension, but several have defects in the surface that I didn't want and will have to deal with. This place has a bit of a monopoly when it comes to hardwood milling in Tucson. If you must go there, make sure you measure everything before leaving. read more

I have no desire to support rude people, even if it's a local store. I cannot comment about any custom milling as I have not utilized that service The staff has been extremely helpful the two times I have visited this location. This is important to a beginning woodworker. They offer classes at reasonable prices and I plan on signing up for some of these. The only negative is that they focus on wood and tools. If you want hinges and latches, you will need to get them somewhere else. read more

I have been a customer since 2012. I use this store regularly, not for all my supply needs, but they have great quality products and wood. They always do an excellent job when I have them do any cuts or planing on what I buy. The staff is very knowledgeable, but they are generally very busy so I would say they are not super focused on being polite, they have never been rude with me. They are definitely "get down to business" kind of folks that will help you with anything you need, and get you out the door. read more

Stopped in yesterday to buy a couple of quarts of wood stain. Simple right? Not really. The stains were all mixed up on the shelf. Why would they allow that to happen? After looking through everything I find one of the two I need. So I go to the counter to ask if they have the one I need somewhere else. First answer is if it's not on the shelf then nope. wait...what are all these boxes behind the counter with stain company logos on them. I asked. The counterman said maybe we just got a new shipment in, but he made no move to check. I suggested he check. That elicited a nice "look." I suspect because it interrupted the BS political discussion he was having with a customer that had is butt parked on a stool in front of the counter. He casually sorted through a few boxes while I stood there and listened to the ongoing BS. Finally, the answer was again nope. While waiting I looked on my phone for other sources in town...ACE Hardware on 22nd Street. I told the counterman never mind. Guess what ACE had what I needed plus about any other manufacturer and color you can imagine. To make it better the price at ACE was $12.99/qt. It was $16.99/qt here. Easy answer!! If I need specialty lumber I'll stop in here, but for other things it's always a hassle at the counter because of the BS. I'll order online or go elsewhere. read more
