The owner (I'm not sure if it's specifically female-owned vs family-owned) was so hospitable in tempering my disappointment (I was visiting the area). I instead went for a croissant breakfast sandwich (also a backup option as they offer this with the biscuit dough) and it was delicious. Not over-weighted on the croissant bread, it was just right. The next day, my colleague ordered ahead and got a box so I got to taste a variety of scronuts. It tasted like a slightly crispier coffee cake. While my colleague thought it was too sweet (she sugars her coffee), I had a black decaf with mine and it was just right. Our other coworkers also dug in and there wasn't any left over.
