I love this place! Awesome instructors, especially Michelle. She breaks down and explains everything so it's easy for you to understand and how to do the steps the right way so you won't get hurt or made sure you are using the right muscles or area. I love all the classes and instructors are all helpful and now that they have morning classes on weekdays, it works for me better. Love that they listen to your needs. Latest is the virtual class they are offering while we are on the situation of lockdown. It felt like you are still in normal class in the studio. So awesome! read more

I take Belly Dance classes at Work It. Our dance instructor is fantastic. It takes some practice to get better and to understand how your body moves - it's like everything else which is new. Pole fit is something I've always wanted to try but after having a wrist injury, I waited until I felt confident in my own strength to try it out. I got my feet wet with a free classpass "intro to pole" class with Michelle and was immediately hooked. I'm someone that is more comfortable weightlifting than yoga or running, so the physical aspect of this sport is challenging enough to keep me interested and wanting to try better. But what really has sold me on this studio, and the reason I continue to show up, is the community. I've never been into group fitness and usually get turned-off by the concept of a "community" - but pole classes are really about lifting other women up...regardless of age, body type, fitness level, etc. As someone that has body dysmorphia and is constantly working on my body positivity, having a group of women there to cheer me on and tell me how amazing, strong, and beautiful I look is truly incredible. If you've been scared to take the leap because you're afraid of being embarrassed - believe me, everyone will lift you up (not physically, lol) and empower you to feel confident, strong, and beautiful. I look forward to every class with Michelle and am starting to incorporate more classes as well. I even cancelled my other gym membership to dedicate more time to the studio since I trust Work It Fit's cleaning procedures (currently writing in the pandemic) than I do with any other gym right now. There are SO many other dance studios that offer better instruction than this place. I bought a rather large package of dance classes and was so horrified by my experience there, that I literally let some dance classes lapse, and I am not one to burn money! I have been dancing forever, and even minored in dance in college. The rules and policies of this studio are absurd. They lock the door at the start of class, so if you are even one minute late, you have missed class (even though you left work early, and drove all the way there, and PRE PAID for the class.) Life happens, highway car accidents happen...a professional studio knows that dancers who arrive late just join warm up in the back of the room- and that it is not a normal currency. This is just one of the many problems I found with this studio. I always felt more stressed than happy when trying to enjoy a class at this studio. Obviously, that is not the point of dance. Truly disappointing. I even know teachers who have left this studio for not being treated with respect. read more

SCAMMERS! I went to the studio earlier, created my account with them, and added Credit Card. Now, after COVID hit, they changed all rules and terms, I'm not able to take my CC. I've got a "Birthday gift" via email with the 10% discount, BUT I could not apply the discount online and enroll on my own. I called the studio and asked about this and how I can apply the discount. Michelle, the studio owner, told me that she can happily apply a discount on her own with my CC. I've been recommended to get a membership which is 4 classes per month, and each month I'll be paying the same amount unless I cancel. I went to 1 class only and thought that I'd better not to proceed with the next month. I was not able to do that online, so I had to email the studio and ask to cancel. In response, I've got that there is 3 months minimum (!!!) which has never been communicated over the phone! More than that, knowing that they responded that they will not end my membership for any reason even if I'd agree to pay a full charge for a 1-time class.  They threatened me that they will keep charging me monthly and in case my CC is in not good standing, they'll start legal litigation(!!!). I feel lied to, tricked to with the purpose of stealing money by not providing information about the service and not letting me pay/check out on my own. RUN away from them! There are a bunch of nice studios in the area and around. P.S. Teachers are good, like them a lot, but the owner's business ethics and tricks/lie about the prices/terms are unbearable! That's just not how you run a business. Especially not the dance studio business.... NOT FUN. read more

I booked a private pole dancing party here for my friend's bachelorette party. It was so much fun! Our instructor, Michelle, was so nice and talented, plus she made us feel very comfortable. We did floor work, pole work and prop work then tied them all together at the end. We also had hors d'oeuvres and drinks. I would book another party here. read more

I'm Going to give this place one star due to the fact that they refuse to give a refund for a class I signed up for and cancelled in the same day. It's just $20 but it's still my money. I would understand it more if I canceled the day of the actual class, being a Business owner myself I completely understand that. But when it's cancelled immediately there should be some sort of exceptions. I am taking the beginner's belly dance class with Tava and I am loving it! She is extremely knowledgeable and also very kind while being quite exacting. She combines really graceful artistry and knowledge of the dance with a very high level of knowledge about the muscle groups we are using to execute the different moves. Work-It is a wonderful, warm, welcoming dance studio with incredible, professional instructors. I've been coming here since I moved over a year ago from NYC, when I was hoping to find a place to dance with high quality classes- boy am I glad I found this place!! The classes are amazing!! My favorite classes are Bellydance with Tava and Burlesque with Michelle-- they're the highlight of my work week, and an amazing way to start my weekend off right. Whenever I leave the classes I find myself smiling and feeling great, from the positive energy of people there, the beautiful classes, and the warm sense of community. I have been a regular student at Work It since 2013 and seriously cannot imagine my life without it! I mainly take the pole classes, they are a full body workout that not only tones and strengthens but also provides a great boost of self-esteem. The classes are always challenging without being intimidating or scary, even for brand new beginners. The class sizes are kept small so you get a ton of one-on-one attention that's tailored to your individual fitness level. Everyone at this studio is friendly, supportive and positive. No negative energy or drama to be found! I have made so many great new friends - both instructors and students - since joining this small dance and fitness community and I always recommend this place to family and friends! Side note - I recently took the newly added cheer class on Saturday mornings and LOVED it. It's high-energy cardio based (similar to Zumba) and helps you burn a ton of calories. It may seem scary to try out a pole dancing class, but the instructors at Work It are so down to earth, they make you feel at home and really help you feel comfortable while learning a new skill. The fitness side of the class is incredible, your upper arms, your core, will ache for days, and your inner sexiness can start to come out with their great instruction and tips. I have never been more excited to work out than when I'm going to Work it. Every gym Ive ever gone to, i just felt like it was a chore, one more thing i had to do, and then I'd stop going because i just didn't have enough hours in the day. But at Work it, I actually want to be there. The burlesque class, even though you sweat buckets, its more fun than i can even explain, and the Diva's pole class is just amazing. things are taught differently because plus size bodies don't always more the same way as smaller bodies and Work it recognized that and made a class that focuses on helping you get the moves at your own pace while still teaching you new things every week. I've taken a bunch of the classes here, by myself and with my husband or with friends, and here's my take: Tone and Tighten: It works. I am actually getting stronger! Class works well for all levels of fitness. Michelle is an excellent motivator. Flexibility and Injury Prevention: I still have a ways to go before I'm remotely flexible, but this class has pushed me in the right direction! Michelle is great at making sure everyone is being challenged at their own level. Pole: I love Pole Fitness! The Beginner Pole class really depends on who shows up to take the class -- sometimes it's only a couple people, in which case the class is very much tailored to the participants, sometimes there's a big group of girls coming for a fun night out, in which case there might be more giggling than usual, but it can be a blast. Pole Flow is still beyond my level, but I had a great time watching the more advanced students do some really impressive stuff (Paula even adjusted the choreography for me so I could learn a beginner version). Burlesque: I feel a little silly doing it, but it's a lot of fun, and Michelle is a great teacher. Belly dance: Tava is one of the best belly dancers in the tri-state area, and an excellent teacher. I've done many years of belly dance and led the Yale Belly Dance Society administratively for some time, and I recommend Tava to everyone now. People: The real reason I go here -- everyone is very friendly, welcoming, patient, and fun. Also, dance and working out is how I de-stress, and I like the chill vibe of Work It. General: Great location. The late policy is rough (if you're late, can't get in), but I understand the need for it. I like the fact that all the classes are basically a "walk-in" structure since that works well with my random schedule, but it means that there sometimes isn't as much continuity. However, the teachers are good at adjusting the teaching to the individual students. Hope this helps! read more

This is the best place to exercise and have fun. All the instructors follow every student throughout the class. You have a personal training experience in a class with other people. All the instructors are qualified by the major institutions in the field. And the most important thing is that while you are getting the best work out ever you are also having so much fun. When you start and you go to one class you immediately want more. It's like candies: you cannot just have one! You see results immediately and feel so good about yourself. A group of us surprised a friend for her birthday with a private class. I coordinated the date and time with Michelle, who also ended up teaching the class. Can't say enough good things! Michelle was patient, helpful and highly responsive throughout the planning process (we had a LOT of questions), and on the day-of, she kept it FUN and yet personalized to our interests and ability. I take the Tone and Tighten class from time to time to mix it up from my regular gym routine. I love this class because I have to work hard - never has a 3lb weight been so difficult for this guy. I have been a attending classes for almost a year now. I mostly take pole and the fitness classes, though I occasionally pop into one of the other dance classes. All the instructors are great and I have no background in dance, gymnastics or other. Not only have I gotten stronger, but I also feel more confident as well. What I love about the way this studio is set up, is all the classes are taught at open level (do take at least one intro pole class though before taking another pole class) and the instructors work with everyone no matter how beginner or advanced someone is which I greatly appreciate. The best part, I get to work out and get strong while having a fun challenge. Would definitely recommend to try some of their classes out or book a private party. read more
