3.5: A good (very patriotic) stop for an informal local bite to eat after hiking Bear Mountain. For…read moreits location and its exterior, I was pleasantly surprised by its cleanliness, menu selection and that it has a rewards program and online ordering. Their menu includes tacos, quesadillas, chili, bowls, nachos, salads and of course burritos. They have a good selection of options, and a few for vegetarians and vegans. You order at the counter and then take a seat. They give you free chips and salsa at the salsa bar (the latter of which was basically 4 options). The food (fish burrito and chicken tacos) was satiating but not very flavorful (the burrito could have been helped with some cheese, spices, avocado and seasoning on the fish and the chicken in the taco was shredded and dry); the burrito portions were generous, even for the small burrito. On the plus side, I didn't get super thirsty from super salty food. Bring cash because there's an almost 4% fee on credit card purchases. Small parking lot out front but not sure if most people would dine here. The bathroom was also very clean. They seem to do a healthy takeout and delivery business, with free delivery to certain local spots.

I ordered the Knightrider at the restaurant because I saw it had jalapenos and would be spicy -- Not! The salsa bar has 4 choices but they weren't spicy enough for someone who grew up in Southern California and ate lots of Mexican food growing up. Also, there was way too much rice in the burrito. Checking the web site after I got home, I found that I could have customized my burrito by adding jalapenos and get less rice but this wasn't mentioned at the counter. If you want spicy, you have to customize or you will be disappointed. If you want mild, you'll enjoy.

Our favorite thing on the menu are the steak sopes, which come with three sopes loaded with steak, beans, two types of cheese, guacamole, and cream. The chicken tacos are my absolute favorite. They're well seasoned, juicy, and never dry. Pair them with the chips and house made guacamole (definitely not store bought), and you've got a perfect meal. I also recommend the chicken burrito, which is huge, flavorful, and satisfying every single time. The prices are very affordable, and the portions are generous. You really get your money's worth here. Whether you're grabbing takeout or sitting down for a casual meal, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The staff is always friendly and helpful, which just adds to the charm. This place is a hidden gem, and I can't recommend it enough to anyone in the area or just passing through. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food in Peekskill, this is the spot.

It's a really big space with lots of seating both at the bar and tables. There was music playing and the vibe was lively but not too loud. Service was really quick! Felt like our food order came out in like 5-10 mins tops and everything came out hot and fresh. Our server was Adrian Q. and he was friendly and knowledgeable of menu items. Adrian gave us a complimentary drink at the end- warm red wine. And no I don't mean room temperature, I mean actually heated with steam coming out. It was at first because I've never heard of that but it actually wasn't bad and was kind of like a palate cleanser. Drinks: We both opted for the large coyote-rita with don julio for $34.50. I had the passion fruit and she had the tamarind. Both flavors were really good and I was surprised that the tamarind was not overly sweet. The drinks packed a good punch so I would say it's worth the price. Food: we started with the calamares frito, Yuka fritas, and alitas de pollo. The yuka fritas were really good, the calamari was ok, seems like it was frozen but the sauces that came with it were amazing, especially the green sauce, and the wings were good but nothing special. For entrees, I had the quesadilla de camarones and she had the enchiladas. The quesadilla was amazing! Loved every bit of it. It had pieces of shrimp inside as well as whole shrimps on the top in a creamy sauce. It also came with rice and beans which were also good. My friend enjoyed her enchiladas. It's her favorite thing there. This place is very far from (like 2 hours) but would def visit again when I'm in the area.
