Came here on Monday,7.31.23, looking to try some of their marinated meats. Let me tell you, they did not disappoint. They family loved it. I got some chicken breast, pork belly, pork ribs and beef luleh and grilled it myself at home. They do offer them cooked as well if you want. The service was great and everything looked clean. I got some shiitake mushrooms, soMe beautiful cherrie, really lovely donut peaches and some creamy tzaziiki. Oh also a super amazingly delicious Russian soda and two yummy little I've creams. I came in here today to buy a few things, including grape-leaves (dolma) b/c I just love the texture & taste of this vegan appetizer. This is my go-to for mediterranean/greek side dishes. Sadly, today I was quite disappointed b/c the rice in the dolma I bought was dry and undercooked. The seasoning was great, but the dryness & hard rice overpowered it to the point of being unbearable to consume. But that's understandable, as food left to sit on a shelf can get that way or the prepping could go south. What was hard to swallow was the old lady's (at the cash register) response to me when I tried to get it exchanged for an edible one. She said that there was nothing wrong with the undercooked rice. Huh?!? I was dumbfounded, as I KNOW what these babies are supposed to be like. Even when you touch the outside of the grapeleaves, you can already tell how FIRM/HARD the inside of the dolma was. Not to mention, they weren't wet like they normally are; no softness to it. There's no denying that there was something off about this batch they had sitting on that shelf of theirs. So, a wonderful young lady (I think she's Armenian), whose name I forgot to ask, went to the back of their store to get me some freshly-made ones. Thank goodness for her! She didn't argue with me or deny the fact, she simply took care of the matter like a pro! THANK YOU. On my way out, a customer who was engaged in a conversation with the old woman (cashier) stopped me just to offer an unsolicited advice about how I could remedy this situation the next time I'm faced with undercooked rice in my grapeleaves #eyeroll. I didn't want to escalate the matter or continue on with this topic, so I just told her, "Duly noted," and left. I cannot believe she had the audacity to tell me to re-steam the rice from the dolma that I had just purchased. It's like telling someone to fix something they had just bought. I buy food for the very reason of expecting it not to have to put me to work. Otherwise, I would just cook/make my own damn food at home! With this brutal-but-honest testimony, I am rating this place a 4-star ONLY because of the young lady who was helpful, professional and friendly in how she handled my concern. Wow! Best experience in a store of my life. If you are in Palmdale, you have to visit this store. I believe the store is run by one family and they are spectacular. I didn't know what anything was, they were patient, gave me samples of yummy cheese, hummus, baba ganoush and the all time BEST Tabbouleh I have ever had. I bought some of everything I sampled. Be sure to try the beets too. They have items from all over the world. This is a great opportunity to experience new foods.
