I have been a member here for about a year. The reason I joined is because I was training with UFO Fitness. The gym moved to a new location and I was unable to reach them by phone because they were open but didn't have any working phone lines established at the new location. Also, they had no internet or computer access to members information. I had to drive to the location to talk to someone about my membership. Also, The gym opened their new location without a dedicated woman's locker room or restrooms for women. They had created makeshift changing areas for women with a curtain type situation without lockers or showers available. Restrooms are in a different location as well. This means that you have to change in one area, use a bathroom in another area and have nowhere to secure your belongings as well as no shower. All the while male members had access to a complete locker room with showers and lockers. I talked to Jim the other day regarding women not having equal access to amenities that male members have. Female members are paying the same membership fees as male members while not having equal access to amenities that male members have. I inquired as to when a women's locker room and showers would be available. Jim told me that they don't have the funds for this construction to be done at this time. He could not give me a time frame as to when this construction would take place. Needless to say, I have canceled my membership. I also had to pay for two months that were left on my contract. It was not huge but had everything I needed as a senior woman working out! Dumbells, machines, turf and mat setup, and medicine balls. Desk attendant was great and there were many young people in there working out. Pleasant atmosphere! read more

So, it's a gym. My current gym is good except for lack of parking and I have a new office further away. World gym has different pricing plans which makes adding a second gym affordable if I keep both. This one is inside the Greeceridge Mall. It's bigger than I thought it would be as well. It's a bit dark and dingy on the inside but it's a gym so.... Staff was friendly enough giving me my key tag as I'd registered online. No tour was offered and I had to ask where the locker rooms were. I could have asked for a tour but just figured it out on my own. It's a large locker room area with locker room stuff. There is a sauna, showers, etc. Bring your own lock! Note: the carpets throughout the facility need replacing. They are in a sad state! There is ample equipment. Lots of cardio machines, free weight area, and weight machines. Bring your headphones and get to work. If you are new to weight training, I suggest working with a trainer until comfortable. The weight area needs more safety clips as I had to really search for some when lifting. A few of the cardio machines were in need of repair and none of them have their own TVs which should just be the standard at this point. But, it gets the job done! read more

Got the opportunity to check this place out for the first time. So far, so good. For those of you who knew this place when it was the Co-Ed RAC, and loved it... Then this place is for you! Aerobics classes are already packed. Lots of the same instructors you knew when it was the RAC too! Looks like less treadmills than before. The locker rooms are exactly the same. Teal lockers.... Nothing new. I did notice a sign for tanning and chiropractic. Didn't get a chance to acquire. Not sure if that is included in the $10 monthly membership fee. Check this place out! read more

I love this gym, but it seriously gone down hill in the last 6 months. Anytime I go in, the disinfectant bottles are always empty. An entire room is completely off limits unless You pay extra for an athletic program, including use of a jump box which we used to have access to. The yoga mats are in serious need of replacement and many of the blow up Exercise balls are deflated The cardio equipment needs a wipe down, so dusty. The women's room bathroom stalls have no working locks and the lockers themselves (winter) are covered in dried salt. I rejoined the world gym in greece and since then they have moved their equipment in a very small room which is gross. The rubber on the floor bubbles up. The room is dusty. The fan has lots of dust on it. Not enough air ventilation. Water bottles left behind. The ladies locker room is dirty. Garbage not emptied. Soap dispensers stay empty for days even after notifying staff. I asked for a refund but they would not honor that. I know by talking with other members they feel the same. My husband went into the Greece location to cancel his membership. He was told that he needed to give 60 days written notice and that he would be charged within that time. And oh, by the way, since his contract renewal (or rate guarantee as they're fond of calling it) is due March 15th, he would be charged that as well. This was really not okay by me, so I called them. I spoke with the aabbbbbbsolutely lovely Alicia, who was so insanely rude that I dropped an F bomb on her in frustration. She then tells me that I am now banned from the gym and never to come back there. I mean, cool! If I'm banned, you can no longer charge me. I call back and requested the manager, who conveniently wasn't there. I once again spoke with Alicia- such a gem of a human, that one- and she informed me that my infoo was pulled and ready for the manager when I called back in the morning. Excellent! I inquired if she also noted that I would no longer need to be charged since I was banned from the location. She didn't like that much, and gave me a snotty little "byeeeeeee" before hanging up on me. So here's the fun part. Nowhere in their user agreement does it say that you need to pay that fee to cancel. That fee is also for *future services rendered,* which they aren't getting since I am cancelling. So how are they getting away with this? Also, the way that they have this 2x a year "rate guarantee" set up (March 15th and October 15th), it makes it virtually impossible to cancel without paying this fee for future services. The only month you can escape with only paying 1 is June, since they require 60 days written notice. Since when does a crappy gym require more notice than a job? Also, there is no corporate number or higher ups to speak with because all of these locations are franchised. Stay far away from this place and oh, Alicia? You're a nasty, snotty little brat. I don't know if you hate your job or what, but you have no business working in a customer facing job. read more

This place is disgusting. Staff is dishonest and so are the owners. They don't care anything about the members, just want your money. They lie about staff being trained. Equipment is outdated and broken, bathrooms are gross and they took away all group fitness classes. They are too cheap to buy new towels. And they don't believe in hand sanitizer either. Save your money and go elsewhere!! It's not worth the $10 a month that's for sure! And good luck trying to cancel, even if you follow their policy. To each their own but I LOVE this gym and don't plan on leaving any time soon. I started going here when they first opened a few years ago before I moved out of the area. Well, I moved back to Rochester last year and tried a few other gyms before returning back to World Gym. I like how spacious the gym is, with multiple different sections and rooms so you don't feel overcrowded. There is nothing worse to me than having to be in a gym with tons of people surrounding you on either side. This gym also feels clean to me... the carpets are always vacuumed and the machines washed down... Overall, my fave gym in the area! read more

I loved this place. I joined because of Danny Maffia, who was also voted Best of Rochester 2015, Best Fitness Trainer. I am a group fitness groupie and of all the places that I have lived and worked, this gym WAS the best because of the community that Danny created and earnestly nurtured. Ever since Tina Westhoff-Cali, "Quality Assurance Director" (?!?!?!?) started, there has been nothing but changes, hostility and an incohesive feeling: frequent and unannounced schedule changes; the website was never updated and neither was the Facebook page; clearly her favorites and favorite classes were promoted on the FB page while the others were not; announcements that would often yield unfavorable responses on the FB page were deleted. After responding to a recent, unsettling and abrupt change in the staff, I commented on one of her posts and have been subsequently blocked from theWorld Gym Greece FB page. I have no tolerance for such hostility. The owners and management must know about this and the fact that they sit by and watch is disgusting. read more

As an employee I was very disappointed with how management treated me and my fellow colleagues. Poor communication, schedule changes happened weekly, uncoordinated, and apparent conflict of interest by members of management. Fitness Instructors were required to get certified by an organization that earns commission toward on the members of management. Colleagues were fired without reasoning, raises were promised and never given, and lastly no appreciation for the dedication and talents the staff brought. Truly disappointed with the facility and hope that somehow things change in the future. The members at this location are amazing and the potential of the group fitness program could be very successful. At this time I recommend going to the East Ave location until hopefully at some point things are fixed at this location. read more

Very disappointed in this gym and in the front desk employees. The music that they play is not for me, but I usually just do my workout and ignore it. However, today the one of the song lyrics went something like "When I'm on top of you, f___ing you, _itch.... When I brought this to the attention of the front desk employee, I was told that all songs swear, most people wear earbuds and it was just a play list and they didn't choose the songs. All unacceptable answers. She did, begrudgingly, change the station after giving me attitude. I immediately cancelled my membership, at which time I got more attitude. When I requested a copy of the cancellation form I had completed indicating why I was cancelling, I was told the copy would cost me 25 cents. At that point, I was assured I had made the right decision to quit using this establishment. If I could give a negative rating, I would. One star. As I'm completing my first and last year at a World Gym in Greece, I would've loved to give this gym 4 stars. Unfortunately the management at this location made such a thing impossible. I have also been a member at LA fitness down the road, so that's my recommendation if you are looking for a gym in the same place. I went to cancel my membership, due to newborn baby, and was informed that I obligated to pay for 2 more months, even though I have fulfilled my year at WG. I signed a contract a year ago so I can accept I am obligated for this, and if I need to come in during this those two months, I would be able to. However the problem comes because along with a $19 monthly membership fee, there is a $19 fee semi annually that guarantees your rate will not go up. Ok not a problem, it's kind of like rate insurance. Unfortunately, upon notification of cancellation, I was informed that I also owe the $19 rate guarantee fee. Doesn't that sound weird? Pay for a rate guarantee for a time period when I will no longer participating in membership. WG thinks it's OK to take money for services that are not provided. I spoke with management and asked them to waive this fee since it would not apply to me going forward. They were extremely condescending and confrontational. But I suppose that's the stance any thief would take when called on for taking money for services. read more

Be very careful who you do business with. World Gym Greece makes it very difficult to cancel an account and it is very expensive to do so. You can't just call to cancel our even hi to their place of business. You basically have to pay two monthly payments because they require two months advanced notice in writing by certified mail. I have sent them two different letters and they told me they never received either of them. Convenient, right? Then they let months go by and therefore more money adding up that they say I owe them or it goes to collections. I have never known any other establishment that would do business like this. If you want to find group fitness classes and fantastic trainers, don't go here ANYMORE! I joined approximately a year ago in order to follow an outstanding Zumba trainer and was able to expand my classes to P90X and Turbokick with the "Best of Rochester Fitness Trainer, Danny Maffia. Zumba and P90/Turbokick became my "go to classes" based on the trainers & participants. In January 2016, things changed drastically and I wrote a letter to World Gym's Quality Assurance Director Tina Westhoff-Cali to ask for a meeting with a few members to voice our concerns over numerous class / trainer changes. The director answered with curt emails and didn't meet with us. I stuck with the gym and then the last draw was this past month when competent and inspirational trainers have been let go or resigned. I resigned from the gym yesterday and yes, I did have to pay to resign but for me it was well worth! A gym should serve the needs of its members and inspire them to become healthy and strong but this gym just takes your money! read more
