This is one of my guaranteed stops when the hubby and I make our annual trip to Kansas City at Thanksgiving for unique gifts I can't find at home in Oklahoma. On this trip, I managed to find some torani syrups, teapot for one sets, cat treats, and a few other things. The staff was very nice at check out. It made for a pleasant experience during our visit. I tired this location multiple times to try to give everybody the benefit but every single time I walk in here to shop I feel like I'm inconvenience the workers. They have absolutely no sense of customer service what so ever. Which is a shame because World Market is one of my absolute favorite stores, but this location makes me feel anything but welcome. Specifically the associate Pam. Today she was on her phone with headphones in and I walked up to be checked out wasn't even greeted. I was looking for a place to put my basket. She just gave me a look. I asked if I should take him after work, which he shook her head. She told me my total without even asking for my rewards and then when I told her I had a coupon is when it really seemed like I inconvenienced her. World Market has become one of my favorite places to visit, and there are several reasons why it holds a special appeal to me. Firstly, it's one of the few World Market locations in the area where you can shop for alcohol, which is a nice perk. Beyond that, the store itself is quite impressive. When I walk through the doors, I'm greeted with the inviting aroma of freshly brewed coffee or tea, which they offer for free - a thoughtful gesture that's rare to find in other stores. It sets the tone for a pleasant shopping experience right from the start. The main highlight for me is their diverse selection of snacks, food, drinks, and candy. It's always exciting to explore their ever-changing offerings, and I often find myself picking up a few items that I had no intention of getting! They certainly know how to keep things interesting. Also, they have some of the best international offerings next to a true international market. While I enjoy browsing through their selection of furniture and home décor, I do find that some items can be a bit pricey. It's a store that caters to various interests, and the free coffee or tea is a lovely touch. Why yes, I do like World Market, in fact, and this is the first one I've visited outside of their Lawrence, KS location. Why I like them: my only interest in the store is a lot of foods they offer, and in this case (since it's located in Missouri so outside of the Neanderthal-like Kansas liquor laws) a surprisingly good selection of interesting spirits, wines and beers. We came home with several of those. But of particular interest, their Divina brand Sweet Sangria Olives. Addictive... Also of note, their Greek World Market branded olive oil. As a self-described food snob I was a tad dubious, but it delivers at a fraction of the price of a lot of other options that aren't even close. Yea, there's plenty more there, too, and I'm just getting started. Happened here because we were in the neighborhood and heard they carried beer/wine/spirits so had to check them out. I'm a fan. If Ikea and Pier one had a child, I think World Market would be created. They have high quality products, but with very reasonable prices. It's one of those places where you always discover things you didn't know you needed. This particular location will be set apart in my mind as they were having a beer and wine tasting throughout the store on the sunny Saturday my wife and I strolled through. They apparently d this once or twice a month! The selection of all things household was solid. We have an impressive range of items ranging from the furniture down to the utensils and everything in between. The selection of wine was very impressive and the sampling made for some easier decisions on what to grab! The beer selection wasn't overwhelming, but was an 8/10. Loved the selection of larger bottles and ability to make your own 6 pack, though it ran about $11 for the mix. The chocolate, sweets, drink mixes, spices and other peripheral pleasantries! A whole world in one spot? They come pretty close. I love their "market" section - jams from England, Italian prosciutto, Korean noodles, and Indian spices... just the tip of the iceburg. That and their candles (love all the scents) are my favorite stops in the store. While a bit over-priced, their furniture section also has some lovely and unique pieces, ezpecially in bar stools and lighting fixtures. Come for the fancy furniture, stay for the many aisles of European candy. I can all but guarantee I'm walking out with some unique Haribo gummies or British chocolate cookies 100% of the time I pop in here. The rest of the food section is truly for the win with good wines, beers, teas, snacks... It's all here. The furniture at World Market is pretty solid too, although it's best to catch it on a sale because it can be a bit spendy. Most furniture is spendy though, and this isn't overly marked up like some. I received fantastic service from a friendly clerk named Whane. He really helped me with my color scheme, by showing me the color wheel on his phone, even explaining different fabrics and their care and encouraging me to make some bold choices in accent pieces. I'm so pleased with the items I bought and they have really spiced up my living space. The store was clean and well lit and they serve a complementary hot tea that you can enjoy while shopping. You can bet your candy a$$ I was there today, filling up my basket with World Market goodness, such as incense, a bamboo floor mat, green glass bottles for my infused olive oil experiment, mineral water, Chinese lanterns (cheaper than Pearl River), vegetable chips (artichoke/spinach), my favorite Sangiovese (alcohol isn't included in the 25%, however members of the WM Explorers club get a special red wine discount and yes, Yours Truly is a proud member!), habanero pretzels, chili lime cashews, pickled asparagus, a large bottle of olive oil (for 6.99!) and probably more. I have my eye on this dark wood bar that at 25% off would be a sweet deal. When you open half the cabinet you see this lovely wine rack I'll never need because I keep drinking every bottle I buy, but it's a nice idea. In theory, I'd love to have an attractive wine rack. I particularly like THIS World Market. The food is fun and frollicky. The wine is plentiful. Everything you need for wine, they have. I'm not a wine snob, I just like it, as long as it tastes like a dessert. I don't like it if it's sour or not sweet. This store has it,and the people who work here know their products. Uh, yeah,and there's cookies, pasta and candy oh my...I'm a sucker for it. Around this time of year, they have the panoramic eggs. Easter candy, bring it on! In the housewares part of the store, pillows in all shapes and sizes, and placemats and cushions. And, last but not least, one of the few stores that has a parking lot where you can park your car, and walk into the store, instead of parking on the street and walking blocks upon blocks, in god knows what weather. The furniture and home decor are​ generally a bit expensive for what it is, so I often go in to get inspired but I tend to buy my home goods elsewhere. When I do make a purchase, it's usually in the market area. They carry my favorite brand of jerk seasoning, Korean sweet potato noodles and a few other hard to find items. This location has a parking lot and it's easy to get in and out. The store is spacious and the sales associates I've encountered were all helpful. I've been to World Market several times, and they're always so polite and helpful. Even today, 2 days before Christmas, I saw no clerk in a bad mood. The place was packed to the gills, but the lines were running smoothly and the staff was working quickly and efficiently. I'd forgotten to use my coupon with my original cashier (didn't get her name, unfortunately- she was so sweet) but when I realized my error, another cashier named Michael was eager to help and very pleasant. I love anything French or British & my daughter is obsessed with Japan, plus we have several beer & wine (me!) aficionados in the family, and it's super easy to find gifts for everyone here. No place is as good for stocking stuffers as World Market is. Things can be a bit pricey, but they often have big sales and send out frequent coupons if you sign up for their free discount club. They have a HUGE selection of mini sizes of every treat, candy, and snack you can think of- even things like pâté, cheese, olives, & smoked salmon. The list is endless. If you're not into the fun international food & drink area (they have dozens of non-alcoholic beverages too,) located at the back of the store, they have a large section of rugs & furniture- it's not super high quality (like a less modern leaning Ikea,) but it's generally affordable. They also have every bit of décor you'd need- pillows, candles, lamps, baskets, stuff for the kitchen & bath... The store is laid out nicely, although their signage could be bigger and brighter. I finally visited my first world market. Honestly, I went in expecting to spend my paycheck but was disappointed. It's hard to shop! The set is us so random along with the selection. There's little of everything but they're not fully committed to one thing. Little furniture, holiday, food (although mostly snacks), wine selection was the most impressive part. The quality of everything they offered was sensational, that of course could be said about the prices. I wasn't sold on any specific item. I did keep going back to the handmade clothing items, very beautiful crafted. I wish they would expand on this selection. This is a great store for gifts. They have a vast selection of gifts such as food and snack gift sets. Perfect for holiday parties. This may sound silly but this was the nicest World Market I have ever been to, and I have been to many World Markets in several states. It was very spacious, well organized, had a great layout for shopping, and was spaced so it was easy to see across the store from any vantage point. It was a lot less crowded than other locations with merchandise. I found some stunning Moroccan glassware in 6 different colors to go with my hand-painted baby tagines I bought at another World Market in the past. I hate this place. Reason being that every time I walk in here to buy a bottle of wine, I always walk out blowing $100+ on miscellaneous items (Tea, Zapps potato chips, etc etc.) And that's just me. Walk into this location in the Westport area and you are immediately struck by the "wickery" smell from the different crafty and woodsy stuff inside. Don't get me wrong, it's a good smell. World Market really has everything you would ever need to survive. Assorted groceries (albeit packaged or canned and not fresh), check. Alcohol (an awesome selection of wines and craft beers) check. Furniture (affordable but not so durable) check. Greeting cards, check. Rugs, check. Kitchen supplies, check. What more do you need. This is a hipster's WalMart, an urban Target, a utilitarian Marshalls, a specialty store to entice your every sense. Employees are always willing to go the extra mile to help with your purchase or locate it at another store in the Metro. If World Market doesn't have it, you don't need it. Peppermint pigs from Germany for Christmas? You guessed it, they've got it. Get here now and buy something cool. Or just come here and taste their coffee samplers in the way back. Where did World Market even come from? Is it a chain? I don't even know - I'd never seen one until I moved to this part of the country. Also, like what is it LITERALLY? Is it an international foods store? A furniture place? A toy store? A kitchen supply shop? A craft supply place? Some weird location to get scented candles, a gauzy skirt AND a bottle of obscure beer? Yes. Yes it is. I'm with Brandi - I usually spend approximately twice whatever I planned to spend because if you're inside more than five minutes, you find something insane that you didn't know that you ABSOLUTELY NEED. And it is weirdly Trader Joe's-like in that you may or may not find the same products that you bought last month. Frustrating but also like an adventure? I always stop in before heading to a dinner party because it's a great spot to get a reasonably priced bottle of wine and imported candy... everything from Kinder to Pocky to Ritter to higher end products and stuff I've never even heard of or seen anyplace before. The world needs green tea-flavored Kit Kat bars apparently? Sure. Why not. One star off because it is criminally understaffed. The past three times I've gone, I've spent over 20 minutes in line. I assume this is another one of those stores we don't have because of our liquor laws? They have them in Kansas City and Dallas, so the only reason I can think of for not having them in OKC is that they sell quite a bit of wine and beer at a discount. Well, I love this store and I try to go to these whenever I can. We love their furniture and their kitchen items. I also really like the selection of paper goods: they have the best cards, wrapping paper, tissue, and nice bags. A lot of it has a natural look to it. But one of my favorite things here is the wide selection of specialty food items from all over the world. You can walk down each isle and get an idea for a fun party or a special dinner party, or reminisce about trips you've taken and special meals shared in those far off places. Once you've planned that dinner party, you're in the perfect place to find all the tablecloths and napkins, party favors to make it happen! It's what I imagine the love child of a Trader Joe's (minus the cold food area) and a Pier One (minus the overly "helpful" salespeople) would be. This is a really fun store to browse around in. I could spend hours and piles of money here if I had either to spare. World Market has a nice selection of wines and beers and some food items which is a bit unexpected for a place like this. Every time the hubby and I go in, he has to pick up a "broken 6 pack" of various imported beers and ales while I generally grab a bottle or two of wine. They also have some really nice home decor items and some good quality "every day" kind of dishes and serving items as well as a fair number of other kitchen doodads. Staff are generally knowledgeable and helpful if you can get someone to help you. Hubby and I passed up a cool lampshade because we couldn't get assistance to find out if they had any extra in stock that weren't on the shelves. read more

The selection of home goods including tables, linens, art and plates is fairly standard of what you'll find in other home stores but the thing that sets World Market apart for me is the food and beverage selection. I love the wine tasting events (FYI the next one in 2012 is Feb 4 at 3) that take place once or twice a month with samples of about 12 different wines. It great to try wines from all over the country and world prior to buying. I also love the selection of cookies and snacks from all over the world - the wasabi peas and the thin ginger cookies in decorative tins are two of my faves. They also have a huge selection of Torani flavored syrups - ranging from seasonal favorites like eggnog or unique bacon and salted caramel. Definitely the largest selection I've been able to find anywhere. Their international wine selection (and prices) are fair, but their sake selection is always rather disappointing. Call it a hipster market or simply, the World Market, you will find something to buy here. I mostly head straight to the food section because there are things here that you cannot find at any other local market. The junk food selection is amazing and if you have never tried Maui onion chips from Hawaiian Snacks, then you haven't lived! It's the best tasting and most addicting potato chip you can ever taste. They have odd flavored chips that sound horrendous but intriguing to the mind. I love their chocolate/dessert selection as well. I would also venture to the beer/alcohol area if you love yourself some drinks from around the world. You can create your own 6 pack from their extensive selection. Remember, there aren't fresh produce and meats here, so keep that in mind. The prices may not be so cheap but most of these items, you just can't find at any other place so I will take the cost adder. Westport's World Market turned what I thought would be a gigantic headache (buying a new bed) into an easy and quick task. Travis is my bald-headed hero. He lugged out all the boxes my new furniture came into and tried to heave them into the back of my dad's borrowed SUV. When we realized it just. wasn't. fitting. he quickly removed the pieces from their boxes and showed how neatly they fit into the car. I generally love any World Market but this location especially gets 5 Stars. Plus: after depleting the majority of the gift cards I got for Christmas to WM (this bed had been on my radar for quite some time), I had about $8 left to the store. All the other reviewers have summed up my thoughts about World Market as the love child of Trader Joe's and Pier 1. If those two were to mate then bam! You'd get World Market. This is the only place I've found that sells small bottles of Torani syrups used to flavor coffee or Italian sodas. Also I loved the Grand Wine Tasting event World Market hosted on April 16 where I got to sample 10 wines for free! Browsing the food from around the world is an adventure. I've seen Maremite from the UK, Vegemite from Australia, vintage candy such as Necco wafers, gelfite fish, and all other sorts of goodies and exotic foods. World Market has introduced me to my new favorite snack - the salty pepper flavor Somersaults, a crunchy snack made out of baked sunflower seeds and toasted grains. It's healthy, high in protein, and absolutely delicious. The return policy is generous as you get a full refund with receipt if you return your item within 60 days of purchase. If you no longer have a receipt, then you get store credit for the current selling price of the item. If you sign up for their World Explorer club, then you get a $10 voucher for your birthday! read more
