sounds like this a great place for wine and beer, but this store is another example of lazy staff and bad customer service. I don't know if you've listened to their new phone menu but they make it clear that they don't want anything to do with spirits customers asking questions. They only want your money. I'm really tired of retail that doesn't understand that they're place in society is to serve customers, somehow after the pandemic these stores make you feel like they owe it to you to just be open and take your money. On top of that, I am pretty alcohol and wine stupid so my first time in I desperately needed help and I didn't even have to seek anyone out. I went in to fill 3 propane cylinders on September 15. I stood in line behind a man placing his order for his bar. I asked the cashier, DEBBIE (Karen), if I was in the wrong line, thinking it was a line for wholesale instead of the other line that was clearly regular customers. Instead of answering this simple question, DEBBIE (Karen) bit my head off and continued to be extremely rude to me. She kept telling me to be patient. Maybe it's you that should be patient! I'm sorry if you had a bad day, DEBBIE (Karen), but you really shouldn't be like that with customers. I went home steaming about this encounter. I will NEVER be back! read more

Although this has been one of the largest Beer-Wine-Liquor stores in the area for quite some time, they have always had some problems with the beer side. I tried them again recently when I went for liquor, and ended up with several over the hill beers that I should not have bought (and they should not have sold). Brews often sit on their shelves for a long time, and for most styles, that is not good. I will continue to avoid buying beer there. read more

Now that I have moved away from mentor I do not visit this store anymore. However, when I was in mentor I would visit this store quite often. Their have many great beers on tap at a great price point and they sell it by the pint! Have a beer and browse their selection! I have found many beers in the bottle that I had a difficult time locating elsewhere. They do sell brew kits and ingredients. This has been my go-to store for wine for years. Brian is as knowledgeable as it comes when it comes to wine--and once he gets to know your tastes (and usual price point), he never fails to give you great suggestions if you're just in the mood for something new. ALL of the people working there are as nice and helpful as can be. They also have a great selection of beer and the hard stuff, too. And, right by the check out register--a neat little supply of Tommy's Jerkys (talk about your suggestive selling!). . .yeah, throw another $8 onto the bill! Tommy's is right down the street, but it saves me a stop and the prices are identical to Tommy's. They have regular wine-tastings during the year . . . Weekly wine tasting events give a great chance for everyone to try wines from all over the world. $5 per person gets you a tasting of 5-6 wines. Brian is so very knowledgable about their wines and is not afraid to give you his personal opinion instead of the usual tasting notes you get from others elsewhere. I would highly recommend this place if for no other reason than the amazing selection they have from all over the world. Mentioning a varietal, appellation, region, food pairing or any other descriptor will get you a list of suggestions. Don't let the name fool you. This place has the best carry out beer selection of any store in Cleveland, including La Cave Du Vin. There is a rotating draft selection for growlers or a tasting and a wall full of six packs or single bottles. Brendan is very knowledgeable and constantly improves the selection. Went in to buy rum and mojito mix need just a small bottle rum was like 7.99 on tag on shelf but it rings up 8.13 wow over charge. Let me start off by saying that any place that carries Magners is definitely a-ok in my book! That being said, this liquor and wine store situated back off of busy Mentor Ave. is a great stop to pick up just about anything you're looking for. There has only been one time that I've been here and haven't found what I wanted (and actually it was just this weekend with my boyfriend when we couldn't find our favorite Founder's Breakfast Stout). They have a great selection of wine for all of you wine-o's out there, but beware - the prices are pretty steep. You'll also find a great selection of beer and they also serve beers on tap - you buy your own growler for $3.99, pick your beer, fill 'er up, and when you're finished and ready for more you just bring it back and go through that same ol' routine! This is great for people who love beers that are only served in kegs. I was disappointed when I printed coupons from the yellowpages.com website and they would not honor it. Why is it that the customer always gets cheated? I assume they have an ad in the yellow pages so I do not understand why they would not honor the coupons? Most extensive selection of everything and courteous knowledgeable staff of any beverage store that I've ever been too. There are too many choices!! They've even got homebrew kits and non-drink items. It was the first place in Lake County that I knew of that did a buildyourown 6-pack (as does Save On Tobacco at Points East on 306, also highly recommended for their craft beer selection and knowledge and staff). Realistically, this should be the only place you buy and and all alcoholic beverages. Giant Eagle does a swell job, better than most, but this place is just the cat's pajamas. Period. read more
