I make a special drive up to Foresthill from Sacramento once every couple of months just to come here and get a sandwich. Everything in the deli is delicious and fresh! On a recent camping trip to Sugar Pine Reservoir we realized that we would need more ice and coffee. This really is the only option in Foresthill but it is pretty good. The services was very friendly and helpful. They have almost everything you would need and the prices are pretty reasonable. The store is clean as well and well stocked. I didnt get a chance to try it but they also have a sandwhich bar and deli counter. The view of the canyon from picnic tables in the parking lot is to die for! read more

You really don't have much choice when it comes to shopping for groceries in Foresthill, so Worton's is what you have whether you like it or not. Everything is extremely overpriced (ridiculously so on some counts). I would make the drive to Auburn unless it was something quick and urgent. They do have just about everything there though. Pizza is my sister's favorites, and the deli is really quite good. Hell of a view too. read more

Sure, it's a bit overpriced compared to other grocery stores but I suppose that's the cost of convenience. They have a surprising range of products, including fresh produce, and other than maybe some specialty items, you can find just about anything here. The staff is super friendly and truly make the experience great. Most importantly, the view from the parking lot is second to none. As weird as it sounds, you get an incredible view of snow-capped mountains and lush green trees as far as the eye can see. If you're on the way up to Tahoe for the day, stop by for some deli sandwiches and eat out by the picnic tables with the gorgeous view. You won't regret it. read more

Whenever I pass through a small town, I HAVE to stop at the IGA. Growing up in a small Midwestern town of 700 people, IGAs are a staple and I suppose I enjoy the bit of nostalgia. When I walked into Worton's after a long bike ride, I wished my small hoe town had a grocery that nice! Clean, big, great deli, reasonable prices with a good selection, and a view for days. Been here twice for pizza over the years. It's okay...kinda greasy, but not bad. The best thing is the view. If you order a pizza, plan some time to eat it around the back of the store at the picnic tables as you look out over the valley. If you're lucky, you can get a glimpse of the snow-capped mountains over by Lake Tahoe. read more

You don't really have a choice if you need groceries or just one thing to make a meal in this small town. You can either shop here or stock up in Auburn. They know they're the only place within half an hour and their prices reflect that. On the plus side, they have everything you need and are well stocked. Their produce and meats are always fresh. The staff is always very helpful and friendly. I have nothing bad to say about their deli. It's on point. They have great sandwiches, pizza, fried chicken, soups and other things you might find in a deli. The western burger is never disappointing. The view is breathtaking if you want to sit on a bench seat outside to eat. I've ordered from the deli about a dozen times since I moved to Foresthill in October and have loved everything I've eaten. read more

Worton's has the best view of any grocery store in California. Nice staff too. The deli is pretty darn good. It's more expensive that Auburn, but you would expect that. It's up the hill quite a ways, so that takes money to drive up the hill. Going for a christmas tree you pick yourself? Stop in at Wortons on your way and check out the view. read more

This is a convenient spot to stop for lunch. Great selection and, if the weather is conducive, one can't beat sitting at the outer picknic tables for the view. However, be wary of the pre-made chef's salad. The first time I ate one I got an upset stomach but wrote it off as general indigestion. Yesterday I ate another one and got the worst food poisoning I've ever had. I'm still quite ill today. read more

I go there if I need to grab something. I have accidently bought many expired items which is frustrating, ( you really need to check the dates.. even candy). They are very expensive but when you need to grab something quick it bets driving to Auburn. read more

We were out rafting/camping in the Sierra foothills and stumbled upon this grocery store after our trip. Positives: It has great deli as well as *the* most gorgeous view on earth from a grocery store. (The view is of the Sierra range. You can see it from the deli and the picnic tables in the parking lot. It's breathtaking. Be sure to read the poem inscribed on one of the stone monuments near the picnic tables.) Negatives: The wine selection is horrifically bad. The place seems like it should have a few decent bottles on its shelves. read more

It's the only grocery store unless you want to drive 20 minutes down to Auburn. Its overpriced but it has everything you need. It's conveniently located and the views are breathtaking. The deli is nice too. Cheap pizza's and sandwiches. If you're into fresh seafood, you're not going to find it here. They do not have a seafood section at all, only frozen things. read more

It's a great place to stop while on a motorcycle ride and grab a drink and have a yummy sandwich made at their deli. It's a little pricey, but the size of your sandwich will be well worth it. Grab a seat at one of the picnic tables overlooking the great view and this will make for a great pit stop. read more

Ho boy! The burgers, the deli, the meat section and the great people. Oh yes, the beautiful view from the picnic tables off to the left. We stop by when in the area. I go for the Western Burger as others have mentioned. It's getting to the point where I need to bring an ice chest with me when I visit so I can take things home. I LOVE the deli! Beautiful home made salads (orzo, sun dried tomatoes, feta cheese) caught my eye. Blue cheese red potato salad. Fried chicken. Great looking pizzas. I even bought some great looking marked-down rib eye steaks to take back. The people are also very nice there. read more

I implore you to not read the other reviews. I just moved to Foresthill about 4 weeks ago. This is June 2012 so this review is actually current. This is the worst staff of any grocery store I have ever been to. They are rude and do little to no work. There are open products on the shelf that will sit there for weeks on end. On top of that you are lucky to be able to find one register that is actually open. There is one kid working there who I believe is the owners son. I commented when he was bagging my groceries that you cannot put eggs on top of bread, which he did. Ever since then every time I see him he tells me to go to another register as it would be faster. However, within seconds he is already helping another customer while I'm sitting there waiting to be rung up. On top of the poor customer service there are many open products on the shelf. This is insane considering their insanely high prices. This is not "higher on somethings than chain stores" as Suzon said. They are higher on every single item other than cheese and meat. Both of which are comparable priced. However, $2.29 for a 2-liter of soda is not competitive or fair. read more

Great place, have been there about 20 times when traveling. The sandwiches are great. Had a sort of bad experience the last time with a young woman behind the counter who didn't seem to like serving meat. I usually walk away from an "eyeroller" server in any food establishment, but this place has such good ingredients I knew nothing wold be unfixable. I got salami and she just put the meat in the sandwich without separating the slices. So, I got a brick of salami. After rebuilding the sandwich, it was excellent. All ingredients fresh and very, very tasty. Best view from a supermarket parking lot EVER! Best fruit, too. Whoever buys their produce should be crowned! read more

While their pricing on food is way too ridiculously high, everything from their hot case, grill, and deli is awesome! They make the best sandwiches and veggie burgers I've ever had. While their deli workers aren't always polite over the phone (sometimes they sound like you're inconveniencing them by calling), they are always polite in person. I am an amateur prospector and backpacker from the Bay Area. I make a point of buying my supplies at Whorton's because the prices are the same as down below, plus it helps me contribute to the local economy. The employees are nice locals who can give you advice about the area, and the grill is fantastic and very reasonably priced. The Bigfoot burger is one of the best I have ever had, and you can eat it sitting on the benches outside that offer a great view of the Sierras. read more

I hate going to Wortons. It's our last resort store. A can of spider spray was 8 bucks! BS!!!! That same can at Raley's was 3 something. Most of everything is WAY over priced. They do have good burgers and a good view. That's about all that is good there. I do all of my shopping off the hill. read more

We made a random stop at this local market after a wonderful weekend of camping!!! Besides being a full market they have this wonderful deli that offered a range of food from sandwiches, chicken, tacos, to the most amazing Barbecue Bacon burger that I have tasted in a very long time!!! No pressed patties here. Fresh ground round cooked to perfection with a couple of strips of applewood bacon, cheese, barbecue sauce, lettuce, tomato and a couple of onion rings!!! Add in the mound of curly fries and onion rings fresh from the deep fat and we had a wonderful dinner before heading down the mountain!!! Definetly not an everday indulgence however a mighty tasty treat for once in a while! read more
