There was never someone around to help me walk through questions I had while I was studying, and often their resource forums were quiet whenever I would post, or would return with another student saying they had absolutely no clue either. There were moments during the day that I could secure a teacher's help, but once that passed I was again off on my own, and was even told by one student teacher "we don't give you all of the information, you should be able to find what you need on google." I did my best, but working mostly alone I was overwhelmed trying to scour other sites for answers they wouldn't provide me. Ultimately tired, and my relationships in shambles since I spent most of my free time working on this course, I discussed withdrawing. They tried really hard to not only keep me going in the program, but also started trying to sell me more classes! I turned them down and said it'd be better for everyone if I just left, and the representative I spoke with was amazingly kind about it. She guaranteed me that I wouldn't have to pay the full amount since I was leaving early, and it turns out I (after my deposit) would really only owe about 7-800$. They sent me agreements to sign, which I didn't understand very well, and they weren't willing to be very clear with me, so now I'm being told that I owe close to 4K still. I reached out to Coding Dojo, and they've ghosted me. Look, there were some great moments with teachers there, but ultimately they expect you to learn mostly on your own, and don't have a system that works for people with a full time job, even though they'll tell you they do. Plus once they get the money they want from you, they'll leave you on the curb feeling dirty and figuring it out on your own. Avoid this school. Don't be like me and save your $. Please.

Life got in the way a couple of times during this portion of the class and I was able to talk to Mika and figure out a plan so that I wouldn't have to miss class. I also loved listening to her real life stories of working in nursing. The course I took was 5 weeks, 8 hours a day. The first two weeks were online. There is a lot of reading, a lot of quizzes, and several tests, but you get the hang of it quickly. The second week was practical where you learned the skills. I got pretty frustrated when I didn't get the skill right the first time, but the fact is that there are a lot of steps to the skills and these are brand new things that I'm learning. It all falls into place when you go into the clinical. You get to apply what you learned in class and in your practical learning. I especially loved my clinical rotations at the hospital. It gave me such a bigger perspective on the healthcare industry and patient care. I learned so much and discovered that I really liked working in ER. I look forward to applying everything I learned in my future career.

During the last term I was paired with Alla Kostanyan, right away she reached out to make an effort to meet me and get to know what my goals were post WCU. She also kept it real and helped me see the many routes a new grad nurse can possibly take. Right away she began to make sure my resume looked good and was ready. I received several emails with all sorts of job openings ahead of time so that I may plan to apply accordingly. In my case particularly, before starting west coast I decided to apply at my local hospital as a patient safety aide, just to see if this is a place I would like to work at after graduation. Well, I loved it there and that gave me a shoe in as I navigated a job there during my time in school. I also stayed proactive and during my first term at WCU I signed up to volunteer at Cedars Sinai (another place I wanted to potentially work at). So you see in my case I did myself a favor beforehand. Which worked out greatly since I was able to build good rapport with both locations for the almost 3 years of school. I put in my work to achieve getting hired at my local hospital and I was able to receive a job offer. I took the chance to meet Albert and allow him to teach me and show me how to draw blood and learn the order of draw. He taught me more than enough to help me understand and succeed in order to move forward. I can't honestly say anything bad regarding him or his class , the way he taught the class and explained and helped to the best of his abilities is what helped me understand the lessons. I am now working in a clinic and they are just as delightful as I thought. They are patient, understanding and compassionate people. They helped me practice blood draws , correct order of draw , fill out requisition forms , take vitals for patients, assist the doctor and centrifuge tubes. The staff was great and provided a lot of experience for me to practice my skills. Worth every penny!!
