Dan is excellent at what he does. The communication, quality and professionalism is top notch. He was able to get me in on a Wednesday and out Friday for some big ticket preventative maintenance items on my '97 Miata. He did the TB/WP job with OEM seals(!!) as well as installing a lightened flywheel, replacement transmission, new clutch and SS clutch line. Thanks Dan!

Dan at wrench monkeys is a great mechanic. Fair, honest and a great value. I've had everything from replacing a soft top to an O2 sensor and brake work done over the years. All done at a fair price and quickly. Highly recommend Wrench Monkeys to anyone looking for a mechanic! 5/5

Called Dan for symptoms suspecting a bad clutch throw out bearing making a squealing noise. Turns out the bearing was loose making the car shudder/shake when engaging to 1st gear. Clutch was on its original 145,000 miles so it was due for a new one. New clutch assembly and shudder/squealing is completely gone. Car feels amazing!! Thanks Dan!

Dan's a Miata expert and was able to spot small issues right off the bat when I brought him my "new" Miata.

Brake job so far is doing well. No noise, no brake pedal vibrations. Parts were OEM pads and rotors. I brought it here because they had good pricing! And obviously quality work too! Dropped off my vehicle and work was done sooner than originally quoted which is a good thing! I paid for what was quoted with no hassles or any sales pitches which I appreciate! The gentleman who greeted me when I first came in right when they opened was pleasant and actually looked like he wanted to be there very easy to talk to and straight to the point. I know where to go now for other car related issues.

On April 21, 2025, I took my car to Auto Stop because it was leaking oil. I had been using them for…read moreoil changes and had always been happy with that service, so I trusted them with this repair. They diagnosed the source of the oil leak, and because I have an extended warranty, I went through the warranty process and authorized the repair. Their labor rates exceeded what my warranty would cover, so I paid the difference out of pocket. Unfortunately, this is where my experience went downhill. After the repair, my car continued leaking oil for more than a year. I brought it back multiple times, and each visit resulted in another attempt to fix the problem, usually by adding more gaskets. It became clear that they were taking shortcuts rather than properly diagnosing and repairing the issue. At one point, I discovered they had even stuffed rags around the oil pan. After several unsuccessful repair attempts, Auto Stop finally admitted they could not fix the problem. To make matters worse, during the course of their repeated repair attempts, they damaged the upper oil pan. Their only recommendation at that point was to take the vehicle to the dealership. That's exactly what I had to do. The dealership corrected the original oil leak and repaired the additional damage caused during Auto Stop's failed repair attempts, leaving me to pay for work that could have been avoided. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Auto Stop. What should have been a straightforward repair turned into more than a year of frustration, repeated trips back to the shop, additional damage to my vehicle, and significant extra expense.

I came here for a smog check and it was very fast. At mid-day on a Wednesday there was no wait. It…read moretook about 10 minutes (2000 and later cars are just hooked up to the OBD II reader, quick visual inspection, and fuel cap inspection). The waiting area is air conditioned and has seating. Service was good as the workers were friendly and efficient. I purchased a Groupon for a smog check for a 2000 and newer car for approximately $26. The mandatory California State smog certificate fee was $8.25. This fee is the same at every smog shop and is paid to the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) to fund the smog check program; it is only paid if your vehicle passes. For a total cost of $34 it was a good deal. At the time of writing, this shop is not STAR certified. Be sure to check the BAR website to obtain an official list of STAR certified shops if you are required to visit a STAR Certified smog shop. This shop also repairs cars and has a four post lift and two post lift indoors. There were various items and a motorcycle under the four post lift so it seems that it is not used much. There is also a two post lift outside. There was a vehicle in the shop with a dealer license plate so it seems that this shop may purchase cars at auctions, repair, and sell them.

I checked their website and they list they are a Star station and a photo of the logo. I arrive and I was told to wait 15 minutes as the workers were eating lunch in the office space. No worries. Waste the wait and the drive to be told they USED to be a Stat station but for whatever reason lost their status as one. If so, how about removing all mention/photo of Star from your website? Probably too much effort which in turn is a disservice to your customers who rely on you for accurate information to serve their needs.

I bring my motor home here for its biannual smog check. I recommend making an appointment. They can…read moreget pretty busy. They do full auto repair. My class a motorhome is 12 1/2 feet tall, so that can be a real limiting factor for a lot of shops. They have a back area that can handle tall vehicles. It can be a bit of a tight squeeze, so you need to be a pretty good driver and feel confident that you can handle tight spaces. I carry a couple walkie-talkies with me to handle just that situation. The service rep took one and I had the other and we entered my vehicle into the slot with only a few inches to spare on each side. Backing out is also a challenge and that's where the walkie-talkies really do come in handy. The smog check went smoothly and I was happy with the overall service.

The dealer quoted $627 to do this work so I said I would have the car towed in the next morning. When I picked up the car at the end of the following day, the bill was $667.84 - higher than the dealer! When I asked why the big increase, Tommy said it was inflation - what happened to his quote? And to add insult to injury, he included a service fee just because the car was towed in. Finally, he said oh by the way, your check engine light is on. What? The check engine was not on when I delivered the car to the shop. Before leaving the shop, with the check engine light still on, I asked what he recommended I should do. He wanted me to bring the car back and he would charge me $150 to diagnose the problem. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this business. Price quotes are not honored, there may be hidden charges and your car may be returned to you with problems you did not have before. Honest business? Not in my experience!
