Be prepared to wait, and wait, and wait....just for a rabies shot, from the vet technician. We had…read morean appointment and waited 55 minutes; others in the waiting area were equally annoyed. It's thoughtless and disrespectful. I understand that emergencies happen, and I also know a receptionist can call and let me know to come in later or reschedule. I'm not sure what has happened to the service, but it has gone downhill in the last year. More like fallen off a cliff!

I have been taking my two dachshunds to "A Country Vet" for their whole lives....one is now 14 and…read moreone is almost 11 "A Country Vet" used to be an actual "country vet" in a small brick house along Market Street with Dr Dan who originally saw both of my dogs. It has become corporate and along with that comes all the problems that arise with corporations unfortunately. The vets Dr Kalwa and Dr Gray are both nice and are the reason I am giving the two stars rather than just one. I have had several incidences with the front desk....they will no longer work with you, they are not helpful, they give attitude, and have stopped carrying the flea and natural allergy medication my dogs take. This latest incidence was the final straw for me. My dogs take the 6 month heartworm injection and were due to receive it yesterday so I hurried home from work and got them and rushed over so they could take the test and get the injection before they closed....when I got there the girl at the front desk had an attitude and was like hold on so we sat down for awhile to wait.....then she came out and was like they have to have an annual exam before they take the test or get the shot. She said they were due for the exam that day but I had no clue because they do not inform you or remind you or schedule you for upcoming appointments. So I asked when could they get an annual exam and she said two weeks away to which I replied but they are due for the heartworm shot today. The whole reason they receive the heartworm shot is because they throw up the tablet so awhile back Dr Kalwa suggested the shot instead. She said they could prescribe them a 30 day pill for the two weeks and then they could get the 6 month shot when they come back for the exam in two weeks.....mind you they both had their teeth cleaned in November and December and had to do complete lab work ups and were both declared fit for surgery. My girl dog needed an appointment to have a bump on her eyelid looked at so I was going to schedule an appointment while I was there anyhow but the whole attitude of the girl at the desk just didn't sit right with me so I told her that I would go look for another actual "country vet" that will work with me. You can never get in, it takes hours to be seen on most walk ins and the attitude of the front desk is ridiculous so I am done with the policies of "A Corporate Vet" since I know the difference because I actually grew up in rural NC

Such an incredible facility with an amazing staff. We won't use any other kennel again. They explain everything and provide a tour of the facility. They have an incredible training reputation as evidenced with all the awards on the walls in the office. The website provides a historical overview of the training they've done. Highly recommend this place to take care of your dogs. They took great care of ours.

He came with some bad habits especially while on the leash. Our Veterinarian recommended Bill Mattis at River Ridge Kennels. After we talked to Bill on the phone we enrolled Teddy in the six week obedience training course. And what a blessing! We found their prices very reasonable and the training was excellent. There were six dogs in our class and each dog had their own set of issues and personalities. The love, respect and compassion Bill showed our pets was nothing short of amazing. Well, Teddy passed with flying colors and my wife and I did as well. Bill and staff come with many years of experience and I can't give enough praise to Bill as he is the consummate professional when it comes to training dogs AND their owners. We highly recommend River Ridge Kennels and Bill Mattis.

I took my dog in for a dental cleaning with a written estimate of $539.99. When I arrived for the…read moreappointment, the total had jumped to as much as $656.97 because of a fecal test (apparently due since April) and a heartworm test -- neither of which was ever communicated to me between the estimate and the appointment. Both were things I would have agreed to with notice, but springing them on me the day of, after I'd planned around the original estimate, is not how a well-run practice operates. The lack of communication continued through discharge. My dog came out of general anesthesia and the tech who released him didn't verbally review feeding instructions or what to monitor for overnight -- it was only in the packet. At my previous vet, the veterinarian personally called after a dental to let me know how it went; here, I didn't hear from the vet at all. The results of the heartworm and fecal tests weren't reviewed with me either, even though the whole purpose of the heartworm test was to clear my dog for his flea/tick prevention refill -- I had to ask about both the result and the medication myself. One more practical note: they're consistently booked out at least two weeks. If your pet has an urgent issue, don't expect to get in quickly. The care itself wasn't incompetent, but for the premium they charge, the communication and follow-through were well below what I'd expect. I won't be bringing my pets back.
