What I love most about Wyckoff Star is the huge selection of syrup flavors they have. Over the weekend, I tried their Cherry Pie iced latte (cherry and almond syrups) with whole milk, and it was delicious. I also picked up an almond croissant for a friend, and she loved it. The service is quick and efficient, and the employees are always friendly. The inside of the coffee shop is very plain and a little rustic. There are no fancy decorations. My only downside is that it's expensive. Regardless, it's still a spot that has quality lattes and customer service. read more

Tried something new with the Orange Vanilla Matcha, and you could definitely taste the flavors. Matcha itself wasn't too sweet nor too earthy, solid balance. I definitely prefer hot matcha still over iced, no one has convinced me otherwise yet. The barista was great helping me decide between this and another specialty drink. Together on card it came out to about $10.50. $4.25 croissant and the rest for the matcha and tax. sometimes i run to Bushwick--maybe that's symbolic of my need for an escape from Lower Manahattan or just a desire to be in a different neighb. either way, my coffee waystation of late has been Wyckoff Starr. it's a very small shop--eclectic, artsy-ish, & welcoming. there are a couple of seats inside but to me that's the incentive--go out and explore Bushwick with "a damn fine cup of coffee" in hand. there's a menu of coffee plus a selection of savory as well as sweet eats. while the interior is a tight squeeze if too many people walk in--the layout is uncluttered and has character. an Americano has been more than adequate for that hot caffeine kick with flavor. the staff is genuinely friendly. the nods to "Twin Peaks" are a nice touch. read more

Twin Peaks themed coffee shop!!! I have been to the shop here and there and recently started frequenting for my morning bagel fix. And then I must've just opened my eyes or something 'cause it hit me.... Wait a minute there's a lot of Twin Peaks stuff here. There's two posters on the wall and the tables are made is wood slices. I love that decor accent. And then this morning there was a very cool Laura Palmer deconstructed poster addition. My favorite are the coffee sleeves with individual quotes. My favorite being "the gum you like is going to come back in style!" Brilliant. Now I just want them to change the menu up to "Log Lady Lattes" and "Iced Laura Palmer cold brew". Have I gone to far? I think not. And Black As Night Dale Cooper drip. And there should be cherry pie. Until then this is a great spot to grab coffee, a aforementioned bagel with cream cheese and tomato for a little over $3 and there's tons of treats in the morning like chocolate and banana bread. I've gone there every day for like a week just because I needed a new shop. I'm new to the neighborhood. It's nice and quick and easy. I appreciate them enforcing rules about social distancing. I'm autistic and I wanted to give them a good review because of how they help me when I order. I get really confused and overwhelmed in one on one ordering contexts, especially new restaurants, but they help me fill in the blanks and the coffee and bagels are great. I'm only reviewing because I *do* like the service, I thought it stood out. I ordered an avocado bagel she was suppose to make my avocado bagel.. but she drop it real quick to make WHITE customers coffee and the other employee was just looking at me.. the White customers got their coffee and I'm just there waiting.. then the girl with the tattoo told the other employee to finish making my bagel.. it was made like if I was a dog..I brushed it off..took a deep breath and left with my bagel.. But Today I was in an amazing mood and as soon as I walked in, one of the employees an older white man said to the girl with the tattoos what should we do with this one... No good morning nothing but a miserable feeling coming from both of them. I didn't say anything and I kept ordering my avocado bagel while they look at me like I was disgusting.. so I said to myself nahhhh this is not right. So I ask them what should we do with what, I heard u say what should we do with him as soon as I walked in. They played dumb and scared like always.. big mouth small balls.. I continued and ask what is wrong with me? that you guys need to know how to treat me.. what is it because I'm dark skinned? Because I look different then your normal white customers ? The menu wasn't too clear as to whether they served only Cold Brew or if they had iced coffee and Cold Brew. So, I asked for Ice Coffee and he charges me 4.50 for a large. I cross-referenced to the menu and realized it's cold brew. He didn't clarify, so I went about paying. Then on my way out, I said thank you and he was not exactly polite or engaging. No response. Observed the 3 people inside at a time rule and patiently waited outside nearly 15 minutes. It's around 2:15 in the afternoon I'm the only person in line. I finally get to order, I ask for a regular Americano w room. She brings me back an iced drink. Not what I ordered. Ask again for a regular Americano w room. She then starts handing out free drinks to what I presume are her friends? Fine, don't care. Just want my drink. After another few minutes she brings me out a large Americano and asks for more money. Shaking my head, again, not what I ordered. No one is holding a gun to your head. There's only 3 people inside the store. Pay attention to what your customer orders. It's literally your job. I have a soft spot for this place. I often stay with a friend in the neighborhood when I'm visiting NY and I always come here. Service is good, I've never waited to order for longer than one minute and the drinks are always ready quickly. The espresso here has a natural sweetness to it, which I love. Their pumpkin chai is so delicious if you like sweet pumpkin and chai mixed into your latte. The iced tastes sweeter than the hot. This place is convenient. It's right off the train. It's fine if you need coffee and can't walk a block to Cobra Club, which brews stronger richer counter culture grinds and charges less for much bigger cups. But like, don't choose this over bodega coffee, it's not better. The food is fine too. But don't choose eating here over anywhere else. Probably the best coffee shop within a 5 minute walk of the Jefferson station. I went here a few times ordering coffee and some sesame bagels (usually the Chuck). The coffee tastes great and wakes me up, and the bagels are tasty, fresh and filling. The bagels are made pretty quickly, I never waited too long for my bagel. I dig the coffee shop's Twin Peaks theme. The place is really small though, with only about 3-4 small tables, so it's usually a standing room only type of place. But I did see some plugs available. I never stayed here to work, so not sure if the wifi is fast or if it's a good place to work. The staff is really friendly and ring up your orders accurately, and the music is great (usually not too loud and just chill and laid back sounds). If you can find a seat, this is a pretty good spot to chat with a friend or get some work/reading done. I will keep coming back to Wyckoff Starr when I'm in the area. read more

I'm a regular at this coffee shop simply because of the convenient location to the L Train. I have been given the place multiple tries since the food and the drinks are decent. The issue- and the reason for 2 stars- lies with their inconsistent customer service that seems to be biased, selective and extremely judgemental. Let me elaborate. There has been many instances where I have been treated great because I stopped by the place before job interviews. Of course in these instances you get all the smiles, all the niceness and all a top notch service. Other times I get treated like trash. I tend to brush these kind of instances off, because this is a Brooklyn Coffee Shop after all and this kind of treatment seems to be acceptable in NY (which should NOT be the case, FYI). The issue became more prominent to me when earlier today I came into the store and the 3, lovely looking ladies before me were treated wonderfully while I got treated like shit by the same barista. Not the first of the many instances where I have experienced behaviour. Judging the book by its cover is extremely uncool (being an ex service-Industry worker myself), especially when you are trying to create a cool, careless and non-judgemental atmosphere for your customers. I also hoped that they would recognise their regulars by now.... not necessarily because of 'special services and discounts' but more so about appreciating their investment in this business. read more

I used to come here almost every morning to get coffee, but now definitely I will not come back. You lost two customers. Let me explain why to you. Someone else in the review mentioned how awkward it is when they ask you if you wanna add a tip on the card, and I am going to second this. Today, I politely declined it and they handed me two "lattes" if they can be even considered so. These two lattes tasted like watered down black coffee with skim milk. If I wanted black coffee + milk, I am quite sure I would have asked for it instead of paying for $7+ for it. Also, when I add tips, they often seem to forget to be polite and say these two simple words, "thank you". But it's okay, some other businesses, such as AP which is around the corner, would appreciate my credit card more. read more
