They ironed the shirts and gave us accessories that really made the outfits like top hats, cufflinks, a broach and a handbag. We were a hit in NYC, people in Times Square were taking our photo, sometimes with us, and we got seated at Lillies, a Victorian themed restaurant without a reservation because they liked our look so much. Second time coming to the store, looking for a party dress. No one can argue with the size of…read moreoptions they have. I imagine they carry an item in every color, so wear your walking shoes because you could be there for hours. We approached a few staff zipping around and stopped one for help. We were told to go to customer service and request a Fashion Coordinator. The woman at the counter announced over the loud speaker for one to come to the service counter. After 15 minutes no one showed up. Off we went to fend for ourselves through dozens and dozens of dress racks. We picked out about 7 dresses and headed to the dressing room. Packed in like cattle my daughter tried on dress after dress. Some sizes weren't readily available and no one was at the computer that's ACTUALLY in the dressing room so I had to go out to the customer service counter to get assistance. There I did receive prompt service and a "runner" would fetch the correct size and hand it to me there. Not sure how long they've been in business but I feel like they've become complacent and don't really care about offering even basic customer service. Maybe they were overwhelmed because it's peak prom season but I noticed many moms and daughters trying dresses on and leaving them, without buying. Overall 3.5, with my two cents: care for your customers and they'll take care of you.

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE…read more I am writing this review because I would not want anyone else to experience what my wife went through. What should have been one of the happiest and most exciting moments of her life turned into an extremely stressful, frustrating, and heartbreaking experience because of the lack of accurate communication from this store. My wife purchased her wedding dress there, and the dress needed alterations. The employee who assisted her specifically told her that they did alterations there. She was instructed to leave a $200 deposit and pay the remaining balance the following week. My wife clearly explained that our wedding was only two weeks away, so the timing was extremely important. The employee never told my wife that the alterations were actually being done by someone outside the store. She made it sound like the store itself handled the alterations. My wife trusted the information she was given and left her $200 deposit. Four days before our wedding, my wife returned expecting her dress to be ready--and discovered that NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE TO THE DRESS. When they contacted the employee who had originally helped her, she suddenly explained that there was another person who did alterations, but that this person was not actually part of the store. WHY WAS MY WIFE NEVER TOLD THIS FROM THE BEGINNING? This is the part that is incredibly frustrating. Had my wife been given the correct information, she would have immediately taken her dress somewhere else. Instead, she trusted what she was told and lost valuable time because of incorrect and incomplete information. When my wife asked what could be done, she was told that the person who did the alterations was not there and would return the following day. Even worse, they could not guarantee that the dress would be completed in time. At that point, my wife had only four days before our wedding. She had no choice but to take her dress and desperately search for another alteration shop. She called me crying, extremely stressed and overwhelmed. As her husband, it was heartbreaking and infuriating to hear her going through this just days before our wedding. A bride should not have to spend the final days before her wedding worrying about whether she will even have a properly fitted wedding dress. Thankfully, she found someone willing to help her on extremely short notice. But because she only had two days to get the alterations done, she was charged $260 just to alter the straps and shorten the dress because it was slightly too long. So because of the store's failure to communicate clearly and honestly, my wife lost valuable time, experienced unnecessary stress, and ended up paying an additional $260 elsewhere to fix something that should have been handled properly from the beginning. This was not simply a misunderstanding. The problem was that my wife was not given the correct information when she specifically asked about alterations and clearly explained how close her wedding date was. If the employee had simply said, "We don't do the alterations ourselves, but we work with someone who does, and we cannot guarantee when your dress will be ready," my wife could have made an informed decision and found another place immediately. Instead, she was left believing that the store would take care of it. I strongly recommend that anyone purchasing a wedding dress here ask very specific questions about alterations and get everything confirmed before leaving a deposit. Do not assume that "we do alterations" means the store itself is responsible for the work. A wedding dress is not an ordinary purchase. Brides are already under enough pressure without having to deal with situations like this because of poor communication. This experience was completely unacceptable and extremely disappointing. A customer deserves accurate information, especially when the purchase involves something as important as their wedding dress.

They advertise same day and next day shipping for items that they actually do not have in stock or plan to sell, but they take consumer funds for it and hold the money for months. I purchased a costume in MAY. It is AUGUST and they still have not shipped the item. When I reached out in June, they said "system upgrades preventing shipping"...and that it would ship in the next week. It didn't ship. I followed up again and was told the same thing--system upgrades. It had been 5 weeks at that point. I followed up again and was told the same thing. So I left a review on their site and they deleted it (violating the CRFA) and emailed me telling me that I could cancel if I couldn't wait and INDEFINITE amount of time and they refused to tell me why now the item was not shipped since they were now advertising the costume with next day shipping but not sending mine. I asked them to clarify how a system upgrade could possibly affect shipping FOR MONTHS and also asked why they were advertising the same costume as SAME DAY SHIPPING on their site if their "system upgrade' was still 'affecting shipping'. They ignored me. I followed up again They ignored me. I followed up again. They ignored me. I followed up again. They ignored me. It's August. They took my money in MAY. They never shipped the costume, but they are taking people's money for costumes they don't have in stock and then lying about why they aren't shipping it. This is a pattern for this company. After researching consumer complaints, this is what they do to consumers. This is fraud, this is a violation of advertising laws. This is clear cut deceptive practices. So I filed a complaint with the BBB and also copied the execs at Rubies on an email. They replied and said that they didn't do any of this and cancelled my order. Even though I attached proof. They said they had a note on checkout about delays, which is a lie. I placed the order on May 29, they didn't update the system with a note until JULY 10 and removed it on JULY 24 and still didn't ship my item. They continued to advertise the same product available with 1-2 day shipping. Today even they are advertising the same costume that they now are not going to ship to me because I filed a complaint against them. Rubies costumes will ruin your Halloween, shop elsewhere!

On August 17th, not having heard from the shop, I telephone them, only to be told the suit was "in" and I should come in for my final fitting. When I inquired as to why no one had informed me of the suit's arrival, I was simply told someone must have called! In any event, I went in the following day and, sure enough, the jacket didn't fit properly. Told again not to worry, the adjustments necessary would be made and the suit would be ready on August 26th. I picked up the suit today (August 26th) and no adjustments were made to the jacket. Rather than argue, I took the suit immediately to my tailor for adjustment. We are both hoping the jacket can be properly modified. Also, another annoyance (though minor) is that when I purchased the suit, they asked for my initials so they could be sewn into the lining. No initials were ever sewn into the lining). All in all, not a first-class operation at all. I'm just glad I had the foresight to purchase another suit off the rack for the dinner-party!

I had a few appointments at other stores after i visited Village bridal and i couldn't help but compare the experiences i had at those store to the experience i had at village. At other stores i felt like if you didn't find your dress right away, they got impatient but it's such a hard decision. At Village Bridal they made me and my mom feel like they were our life long friends. My mom also found her dress there. They were not pushy or uptight. Once we started the alteration process we met some of the other Staff like Fran and Ally. They were also amazing and also made us feel like life long friends.
