This set the tone for our first impression and it wasn't good. Also old rough fleece for a blanket is not personally preferred. The front desk woman was also not very welcoming granted it was 10:30pm. However, the shower pressure was great. The general layout of this little inn is cute. Free parking in a well lit area is appreciated. Breakfast was not free.

Unfortunately, it was seven hours away, so no one wanted to drive that far at night. Since my man happily considered driving the four of us if we could stay somewhere in between, I frantically looked on Orbitz while we texted back and forth where we could stop off. Woo hoo! Score! I found this charming motel with an old "Western" theme. The office was closed when we arrived around 11 pm, but a window was open to check-in. The woman who helped me was friendly and welcoming. I was surprised she wasn't grouchy since it was late! I'm so glad there was a room available with 3 beds!! The girls always fight when we're away on vacation since they hate sharing a bed. The room was spacious and spotless! There was a microwave that we didn't use and a fridge that kept our food and drinks cold. We were given breakfast vouchers at Lumberjack's for both days we stayed. Five dollars for each person! What an awesome deal!! Thanks, Orbitz!

Stayed in an ocean view King bed room with balcony. Pretty windy and cool during our stay, but that didn't detract from our experience. The Inn Keepers, Karen and Clifford, are nice folks who are very helpful and welcoming. The weekday rates are a good value. We decided to stay an extra day which was on a Saturday. The rate increased with no value added--so that was disappointing. The room was clean and inviting--nicely decorated in a nautical theme. The one amenity that created a problem for us is the jetted tubs in the rooms. The people above us used theirs and the rumble it created was so loud that we had to leave our room and go outside for an hour. And this was after 8pm in the evening-- inconvenient for us, as we were settling in for the night. ( A suggestion would be to acoustically dampen the sound by dropping the ceilings and putting insulation in the room ceilings on the 1st and 2nd floors.) We walked to the wharf and had the most delicious pizza and fresh organic salad at the restaurant there. Pick your room carefully, as there are stairs and no elevator--which they explain in the room descriptions. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.

We spent two nights here celebrating my birthday and our anniversary, and it remains my absolute favorite place to stay on this side of the coast. Karen is such a wonderful host and truly makes you feel right at home from the moment you arrive. She prepared an incredible spread during our stay, including a delicious charcuterie board, flatbread, artichoke dip, and her famous "Slap Yo Mama" gumbo with fresh dipping bread. The name doesn't lie...it absolutely SLAPS! Hands down the best gumbo I've ever had. Room 120 was spacious and comfortable, with an amazingly comfortable bed and the perfect ocean view!! There is nothing better than lying in bed, watching the ocean, and listening to the waves. I also enjoyed a bubble bath with the jetted tub both days, which made for the perfect relaxing getaway. The balcony is nice with tall chairs and a table to enjoy a glass of wine (or three lol) in the evenings. :) If you're looking for a peaceful coastal retreat with exceptional hospitality, beautiful ocean views, and thoughtful touches throughout your stay, I can't recommend Wharf Masters Inn enough. We already can't wait to come back!!

And, on a perfect spring evening on the deck with the sky fading to black over the distant hills and the temperature slowly cooling, it was magical. Started with olives, almonds and a carafe of local rose, which was delicious. This was followed by some outstanding bread with herb butter and caperberries, and local, Mendocino cured king salmon, which was a celiac special! It was delicious and herbaceous with avocado, caperberries and dill. This was followed by the salad greens with asparagus and bresaola. The bresaola was a great compliment to the greens and the asparagus was particularly unique - fresh, crisp, fresh and while not quite asparagus-y they were so good, a bit sweet. They were from Zuckerman Farms in the Sacramento valley. Next was a bowl of noodles and asparagus, ramps, very fresh fava beans (not firm or mushy!) and parsley, or the same over polenta instead of Italian pasta noodles for the gluten-free. It was simple, but fresh and rich and luxurious. Three for three at this point. The end point was duck confit with oranges and kumquats over wild rice with some greens. The duck was perfectly cooked, although a tad too salty. Nonetheless, we cleaned the plates. And, who would have paired rosemary with oranges (?) but it worked. The meal was finished with vanilla ice cream over meringue, topped with lemon curd, and fresh strawberries and rhubarb, both of which were not only fresh but redolent of the flavors that they appear to have otherwise lost. The wine list is small but we greatly enjoyed both the pinot rose from Scribe and the pinot noir from Drew. I remain very frustrated by all of their fees and add on costs. Yet, I don't feel cheated or that it was all unreasonable in the end.

Every detail, from the freshly cut flowers inside the room to the garden and living room in the main house, is purposeful and elegant. I also should mention the food, which is excellent! The culture of the Anderson Valley gracefully comes through with every bite. In fact, the food alone is worth the trip. I have been to many Michelin-rated restaurants. While the meal might not be accompanied by the chef's life story, everything about the food, the dining atmosphere, and the local ingredients is every bit Michelin quality. A few other tidbits: Kid friendly, plenty of space to play in the backyard, but no games, no pool. The sister restaurant, Offspring at the Farrer Building, across the street has the same food, but also pizza and a few other kid friendly options. Two onsite EV charging stations. They both work great; the front desk needs to remotely turn them on. Looking forward to my next stay!

Entering the hotel, with pleasant customer service and plenty of coffee to warm us up after a long three hour drive hit just right! Upon entering our large modern king room, we enjoyed: fire place( should be part of every Hilton experience) , balcony, fridge and microwave. The bathroom also exceeded our expectation- with his and her mirrors; plenty of hooks and towel holders; and large closet space. We really appreciated the flooring in the entry way with the coat rack( this should be part of every Hilton experience). Morning hospitality was nice as well. More warm coffee and breakfast hit the spot for our drive home. Amazing! Hilton experience as expected but this experience one of the best Hilton experiences I've had this year. My only concern was there may have been a pet in the room so maybe having separate rooms for pet owners would be appreciated. Again thank you for an amazing stay!

Around midnight, my door flew open and a group of homeless men rushed in like they owned the place. Somehow they managed to start a campfire in the middle of the room and began dancing around it like they were performing some kind of ancient ritual. They kept yelling: "King cobra wearing sombrero eating almond joy and KitKats." I don't know what that means, and I don't want to know. But I loved it they were so so entertaining and I needed a good laugh since the wife of 1 week left me for my cat big Billy. Then the ghosts showed up. They were everywhere -- pointing, laughing, and haunting the entire hotel while whispering one name over and over: "Robert." The elevators stopped working, the lights flickered, a woman began chasing me around which was super fun, haven't worked up a sweat like that since Vietnam. The whole building felt like it had been taken over by a very strange curse. I was sad I had to leave in the morning but Siri called me asking for more toilet paper and I had to jet out of there so I went to Walmart where they had my space shuttle start up fluid and went all the way back to where I'm from Pluto. Five stars because the ghosts John Johnny and Johnson aka triple Js kept me entertained. Loved it! Ps the only bad part was that it wasn't my famous Johnny it was another 707 Johnny! Our cottage was incredibly cozy, and our days were filled with simple joys: harvesting vegetables from the garden, feeding the bunnies, collecting eggs from the chicken coop, helping shepherd the goats, and playing with the cats. There's also a beautiful beach less than a 5-minute drive away, making it the perfect balance of farm and coast. At Mar Vista, fresh eggs are delivered to your cottage every day. On our last day, we noticed every single egg in our egg basket was blue! We realized Cab or Deanna had probably hand-picked the blue eggs for us after learning that our toddler was in a phase where she loved everything blue. It was such a thoughtful gesture that meant so much to us. And who knew eggs came in so many beautiful colors? That was one of many incredible things we learned/experienced at Mar Vista.
