I'm so happy to have found Dr Kim and his staff. He's thorough and along with his dental hygienist takes good care of his patients. The front office staff is courteous and always friendly. My dad has Parkinson's and at times can struggle being still. Dr Kim took him on as a patient, went above and beyond making dad feel comfortable. A blessing in itself. I've had veneers for 10 plus years and recently had to have one replaced with a crown. Dr Kim matched the color and shape of my tooth perfectly. He's done the same for other family members. Please beware of this clinic. I was recommended to have some work done at the clinic, and was ready to pay $5,300 IN FULL before I decided to check with my insurance agent before fully committing. Turns out I was being charged well over my copays listed on my insurance plan. I have blue shield DHMO plan. With DHMO/ HMO dentists receive Capitation payment. These are payments made to health care providers simply for having the patient on their roster, even if no care is provided. While many preventive services are "free" (paid for by the monthly capitation), the dentist charges a fixed, reduced copayment for restorative work (fillings, crowns). What is a fixed cost? Fixed Cost: Your HMO plan pre-negotiated this rate. The dentist CANNOT CHARGE YOU MORE than the $ listed on your fee schedule for that specific procedure code. All of this information was provided to me by my insurance agent at blue shield. Please do not commit to paying this clinic until they have fully submitted and checked with your insurance on coverage first. When I asked for a Prior authorization to be submitted the front desk personnel told me it would be a waste of my time (the patient) and there's but that they would do it if I wanted it to be done. I was told my insurance would not pay for anything because I had an HMO plan and my insurance agent has told me otherwise. I was ready to pay what I needed to, fair and square. I understand my plan will not cover everything but they are not being honest about the fixed copayments at all. read more

I love this office. I have been a tooth grinder and clencher my whole life, which has caused serious issues and left my teeth problematic. I have had two root canals performed by Dr. Joseph Kim, which went GREAT! Less pain than most, fast and had no post-problems. Dr. Michael Kim is my preferred dentist, but I have seen Dr. Wyndhamsmith also, who was great. Dr. Kim just feels knowledgeable and confident and has been there to help my issues over years. Yes, I agree with some of the previous reviews that their crowns are very pricey, (I'm the queen of crowns and bridges) but isn't EVERY dentist pricey in that department? Dentistry as a whole is out of control expensive, and I'm not wealthy. That's just dentistry pricing across the board. In life, I've have little faith in dentistry (and the pricing), but am so grateful for Dr. Kim. He's made it easy for me to call in for work to be done, whereas in the past, I would wait for care until I was dying in pain. I would highly recommend this office. First I have to say I am VERY thankful for Dr Wyndhamsmith , Julie and Natalia. I was so afraid and nervous for my procedure. I've always been afraid of the dentist as a child and grew into this phobia of even going. I overcame my fears and got all of my dental work done. This dr and his staff is like no other, it was literally like a walk in the park, everyone here is friendly and calming. They fully explain everything before and during your dental treatment. It makes you feel comfortable and at ease. During my procedure the Dr and Julie constantly check to see if I had any pain and would proceed with my treatment. The fact that a dentist checks on your well being is awesome. They do have the option to give you alt medicine to make you more comfortable but in this case I didn't need it. My previous dr would see me cringe and say stop being such a baby, not this Dr! I'm permanently making this office my primary office for all dental work. If I could give 100 stars I definetly would. First time back to a dentist after some time and I was very unhappy with my experience. Would not recommend. Dentist was barely in the room and looked in my mouth. They did not know if they could do a cleaning the same day and I was on time for my appointment and I waited 25-30 to be called in. The cleaning was very fast and rushed . The dentists here are okay. Dr. Wyndhamsmith was a bit abrasive but seemed like he cared (but rushed), and Dr. Kim has much better bedside manner, but left me without medications and in pain all weekend. I also caught them upcharging my insurance copays, and found them to be totally unhelpful when trying to deal with problems at my pharmacy. If your in a pinch this place is okay, but there are better places out there that won't try to scam you into spending more than your insurance required you to, and will be more accomidating and helpful when it comes to follow up and discharge. I had to be seen here on an emergency basis during the most painful time in my life, a week after losing a child. I had to disclose this to the doctor as I had just delivered my baby and was relevant to my medical history. Upon telling the dentist this, his response was callous and cold. Then after reviewing them they send you a message attacking you, will respond publicly on Yelp disclosing what confidential dental produces you had, and talk down to you. Run! Far away! read more

my husband had oral surgery done for a root canal, and replacement molers. The root canal was done very poorly as the cap did not hold, and he had to make several attempts to get this redone. Additionally, the cap for the molars for his two other teeth fell off within a week! We have visited this office 3 to 4 times for corrections to no avail. This is the poorest dental office I have ever worked with. I have told many of my friends and family to stay away from this office. They do not know what they are doing! I got a consultation for the services I need and then got a quotation afterwards. I reviewed the fees and compared to the copay/benefits book I received from the insurance. The dentist's office was charging more and I brought this up at my next appointment. They said they will verify with my insurance while I was getting my services done. After I came out, they showed me a "fax" they say they received from the insurer. They tell me they will verify again and refund the difference when they get the "correct" plan. No one from that office said anything so I called my insurance this time and they confirmed that the dentist's office was charging the wrong fees. I had the insurance e-mail me a copy of the copayment schedule as well as e-mail the dentist's office. It looks like this office was using an outdated schedule. I asked the dentist's office to refund me the difference and they refused to and said I have to go to my insurance to get the refund. That makes zero sense to me since the office was the one who took the payment and NOT the insurance (they take my premiums, not the copay). Another complaint is that they overbook. My appointment was at their opening time and four different parties came at the same time. I waited for 25 minutes until I asked what's going on. "Oh, well you came 3rd." Uhm, yeah I came 3rd at around the same time and BEFORE my appointment time. I went in about five minutes later... Look at the reviews here and for their Pasadena office and you will see my negative experience here has happened before with other people. read more

Very disappointed with my experience. My partial never fit right & I have been in numerous times trying to get it to the point where I could actually wear it. I never have been able to wear the bottom one. Thank goodness for the mask mandate! My supporting crown came off several times & when a tooth came out of my partial they just superglue it back in. Needed an emergency appt for my son and Dr.Kim was able to see him same day. We have had previous bad experiences with pediatric dentists and my son was very nervous this time. Dr.Kim was patient and gentle and the procedure (2 baby root canals and an extraction) was affordable and quick. Where they have really shined for us is with our son that has autism. In the past he needed anesthesia at other dentists. Here they have been working with us and being very fast and nice to my son. Like another yelper wrote, this is indeed an old address. The new address is 1092 E. Green St., Pasadena. If you have dental phobia you HAVE to go here for a root canal. Dr. Kim specializes in root canals so you have to go to a general dentist for the crown. Can you believe it only took 15 minutes for my root canal? Yes, 15 minutes! I was in and out of there in 30 minutes, including the time it took me to fill out the forms. So quick I didn't even have time to freak out. I think it's a bit on the pricier side, but luckily I have dental PPO and it was only $200. read more

Dr. Kim is great but the other older doctor is extremely rude and negligent when it comes to COVID-19 safety procedures. When I came in for my first session he pulled his mask down a few times and was weird about it when I explained to him that I was only here for the emergency surgery otherwise I'm fully quarantined the rest of the time. After this experience we called before my second session to tell dr Kim this made us uncomfortable and that it cannot happen again. During the second session dr. Wyndhamsmith pulled his mask down again while I was sitting on the table with an exposed mouth. When I confronted him about it he told me that "this is safer than going to the grocery store". This statement didn't calm me it just made me afraid thinking about where he's been and what he has now exposed me and my immunocompromised family to. There's no fear when seeing Dr. Kim for endodontic work. (Translate that to mean root canals.) He explains what he's doing step by step and does an amazing job at minimizing any pain or discomfort throughout the procedure. It's like magic! I was really apprehensive about going in for the work I needed but he listened to my expressed anxiety and fear about the pain and was really responsive during the process. This place is a mess! All I can say is: do your homework, get a list of the charges, and get a second opinion. The price changed three times when I started asking what they wanted to do and how much it would cost. That, on top of running so late, not returning phone calls and general disorder and confusion will ensure I never return. If I wasn't on such a tight timeline I would've just left and gone elsewhere. One positive is that Dr. Kim was really very nice, and seemed to do a very good job. Update/Response to Owner: I try to keep reviews short, but as the business owner thinks they get a vote in my experience/rating, I will clarify... Friday July 19th: My dentist calls me, tells me I have been referred to Dr. Kim, and everything is faxed over. I call Dr. Kim, nothing has been received, so I give them my insurance information, my contact info, and what needs done. The woman tells me it will be $350, makes an appointment for Tuesday, and says they will call my dentist and call me back. Monday July 22nd: Never heard back, so I called again. Though I spoke to the same person she had none of my info. So I gave her, for the second time, my insurance information, my contact info, and what needs done. The woman again says she will call my dentist and call me back. Tuesday July 23rd: I show up to my appointment 15 minutes early for paperwork. I give them my insurance card, they now have had my insurance info 3 times. I am given paperwork to sign that says I have received a variety of information and explanations, none of which I received. I didn't sign it, but I assume most people do and the dentist can then hold it over their heads. At this point I am 25 minutes past my appointment time, and have to reschedule. I was promised to be in and out in an hour due to a kid's appointment I had to make, and this obviously isn't going to work. They still haven't spoken to my dentist, even though I have called twice and been sitting there for 40 minutes. I get looked at quickly, and a list of procedures that will be done, and reschedule for Friday. I go home and check with my insurance, and the procedures they are recommending shouldn't cost anywhere near $350. After 3-4 calls to the office, they tell me it should actually be $195. Friday July 26th: I show up to the appointment, it was relatively on time, the procedure was fine, but now the price has changed AGAIN to $450. So, I gave them my insurance information repeatedly, as well as a copy to my insurance card, and the price KEPT changing. They were also running easily over 30 minutes late on a 60 minute appointment so I had to reschedule. This is not the fault of my dentist. read more

I came into the office to get an emergency root canal done. The staff were friendly, and I was escorted to my chair after a moderate wait. Dr. Kim came in, and after assessing if i was in any pain, began to numb me up. Of course the numbing will bring some slight discomfort, but when he started the prep work and eventually drilling into my tooth, my body would involuntarily spasm with pain. Dr Kim would then stop and tell me to "relax, or it's going to hurt worse". I couldn't talk, so I just breathed heavily. I was trying to relax but i couldn't control the pain i felt during the procedure that made me involuntarily spasm. After spasming a few times, Dr. Kim seemed to get frustrated, he sighed, and got a bit more gruff. He SIGHED. He said that we had to get this done so if I was jolting every time he started to drill, we couldn't finish quickly (he seemed very aware of the time). He insinuated he was going to power through it and that I'd just have to bear it, then began drilling for a solid 10-20 seconds, amidst my whole body tensing and spasming repeatedly. I was in tears, but he pressed on. Everything was fairly painless after he drilled through my tooth and numbed it internally. I found out later that a friend of his had said something to him that wasn't kind, right before my appointment. This is likely a huge part of why the friendly bedside manner I would expect from a dentist was completely nonexistent then. Summary: i am giving 3 stars because the process was efficient and very fast (around 35 minutes). However, two stars taken away as I left the office feeling a bit traumatized, and like a child being scolded for something i didn't do wrong. I went to this specialist based on April's review. I have had bad dental experiences since I was 5. I suffer from anxiety. I had my teeth cleaned in January, and I started to cry! That's how bad it is. I went to see Dr. Kim for a root canal. He was very calm and explained every part of the procedure. I didn't feel the initial shots that numbed me. Once I was numbed, it took only 25 minutes and he was done. I could not believe it. I barely felt any pain. The only bad part of that experience was when he went to put the first shot in, I jerked and pushed his hand away. He was calm at first when he explained to me that he could have poked my eye out, but then he would not stop. Eventually he calmed down and proceeded with the procedure. Thanks Dr. Kim! read more

Nobody likes the dentist; we all know that but I have been to a few in Santa Clarita over the years and this is, BY FAR, the best! Dr. Wyndamsmith is a little matter-of-fact but I like that! I am not one who wants a doctor or dentist who candycoats things in an effort to achieve some formal threshold of bedside manner. Just tell me what the deal is and that is how Dr. Wyndamsmith is! For me... HE IS PERFECT! But if you are real sensitive and fragile then you might thing he is a little rough around the edges. As for Dr. Kim, the endodontist... everybody had me scared about a root canal and that mess was a piece of cake. I am guessing technique plays a part because it was nothing to me. The worst part was that I was ready to be able to close my mouth after the 15 minutes or so that it took but he walks you through it all and even updates you regarding how much longer! He's great! Most importantly, when I first came here it was shortly after a bridge that a different doctor put on came off. Apparently it was loose and the supporting tooth had decayed as a result. The first dentist I went to seemed like a crook! The work he told me I needed done just didn't seem right and he wanted to pull a few teeth and do implants. Dr.s Wyndamsmith and Kim have saved the teeth and repaired them. This is saving me money (which is important) but it is also saving me time, pain, and who knows what else. For me, a good dentist takes the time to deal with the issues at hand and a crappy, lazy, thief dentist tries to pull everything and charge you a gazillion dollars to replace them with fake teeth... My mother went in a couple of weeks ago and today, my two daughters had an exam, cleaning, and consultations.. They have never walked out of the dentist's office with such confidence. I came in for a last-minute, get-everything-done-before-insurance-expires appointment, and I was fortunate enough that there was an opening at 4 pm. Came a little early to do new patient paperwork and got started at 4:05 with the x-rays. The staff were very helpful and professional, and Dr. Kim took the time to explain the situation: root canal! I was half expecting it, but never fun to hear it. Fortunately, his brother, who handles the endodontics, was available and performed the root canal. It was the best root canal I've ever had, and I've had five of them! He was thorough, informative, and very professional. Once complete, the other Dr. Kim took nearly an hour to put fillings in, cap the tooth, put fillings in three other areas, and perform a deep clean. That's a LOT of procedures to do, but he didn't hurry. He took his time and did excellent work. He finished up around 6, by which time all but two of the staff had left for the day. I was thankful that they stayed late for me, and let them know how much I appreciated their efforts. I've been to several dentists over the years, and this was the most pleasant experience I've ever had. No one leaps for joy at having to see the dentist, but the doctors and the staff here made it as enjoyable as possible. I highly recommend these guys! read more

RIP OFF... they tried to tell me I needed deep cleaning so I would have to pay..BS I literally just had my teeth cleaned by Ortho in march who praised me on how great of care I have take!! Updated!! Maybe I was not clear...I also went to private dentist last week to get cleaning and second opinion!! Their hygienist who actually measured and cleaned my teeth so no way in hell i needed deep cleaning!! The doctor looked at your fee for my crown that i do not need and said junk charges and charges are for root canals!!! Scam!!!. BS. SOO I bit the bullet and went to a PPO dentist for a second opinion whom I LOVE but not covered by insurance.I knew in my gut I was being taken advantage of. SO I paid 82 for my cleaning as opposed to this office who wanted to charge me 95.00 and my hygienist LAUGHED I DO NOT NEED A DEEP CLEANING AND DO NOT QUALIFY FOR ONE!!!!.. funny thing is Dentist DID not measure my gums, did not do neck oral exam nothing!!! yet determined I needed deep cleaning LOL, also told my coworker exact same BS!!!! Now to the crown, I basically chipped a tiny piece of my molar, never have I ever needed a crown root canal nada. I took the paperwork to my PPO dentist had to pay X-ray and he was shocked at the rip off charges they were trying to get me 750-950 AFTER INSURANCE. My DR was livid that wydhamsmith tried to get me on this crap!! I DO NOT NEED A CROWN he fixed my tooth with a simple filling.. $200 and I am fine. I am reporting this office to the better business bureau. I ? the receptionist when she told me I had to pay for a cleaning HMO pays for two a year... oh but I had to have the deep cleaning first.. bs RUN from this office trying to make a buck..... If you go, ask for Dr. Kim. I had a great experience with him, two very pain free root canals done quickly and had a staff member sitting on other side who said he'd be watching my hand, if I needed anything, just motion and he would tell Dr. Kim to stop. Very nice staff, Dr. Kim, all business and very fast! I had two root canals done in 45 minutes! I had no pain at all, and felt well cared for. Hubby is having 3 crowns and two fillings by Dr. Kim AND Dr. Wyndhamsmith next week. He has a huge Dentist Fobia after being smacked in the face by a dentist when he was a boy growing up in England, so he always waits too long to go and won't go unless he can be put to sleep. I feel that is a lot of work at one appointment, but he likes it to be done all at once so he can skip out of going back as long as possible. I'll follow up after his visit. Up to this point, he feels they both were very thorough in their plan and explanation. They also showed him the x-Rays to point out the infection failed bridge, need for others and where his fillings were needed. I hope they work together as well as Dr. Kim was on his own with my fast, pain free root canals. OK. Here's the update! Hubby went in for his placing of crowns and removal of the temporaries today, so all the work is completed. I typed incorrectly in the previous paragraph, he actually had three crowns, two fillings AND one root canal!! Remember, this is a man who is completely petrified of the dentist! Dr. Kim and Dr. Wyndhamsmith both worked on him together. They took one full morning, booked no other appointments and devoted hours to him. Much to my hubbies content, they put him to sleep on an IV. He is very happy with all the care given to him and felt content in their hands after they took time explaining everything and answering all questions. From the first call you make until you leave with your dental needs met, Santiago who runs the front office will have you smiling and make you feel welcome. I loved the staff and Dr. Kim. I can't give five stars although, because I must be truthful and warn that Dr. Wyndhamsmith, although an exceptional Dental practitioner, has little bedside manner and even yells disrespectfully at the staff even as he sits at your side. My brash British husband didn't mind and thought it was little to worry about in return for the job well done.
