Cool, lively sports bar with decent service. The Brewer's Burger (3.5/5): More flavorful than the bison burger but still a bit dry. The fries weren't great. I stopped by here before a ball game for a couple pre-game drinks; it was packed but cleared up immediately right before game time. Only seating at the bar was available, and I found an open table near the bar -- I slightly was disappointed they don't offer more outdoor seating and allow folks to freely sit out there; it was such a beautiful day. The bar area was okay, seemed typical for a restaurant/brewpub. As an IPA fan, and specifically a hazy IPA fan, I enjoyed the beers they offered -- I wasn't let down by either the Hazy Lover IPA or the Sir Hops A lot. The beers were $8 a pint; I felt this was a bit on the high side -- I think $6 or $7 would be more reasonable. Given the proximity to the ballpark; I'd likely swing by here again before a game for a drink and would recommend it for IPA fans looking to checkout a new brewery. read more

This was going to be my last CO brewery (for this trip). My wife thought we were taking a Capital tour, and we did, but Wynkoop was my objective. In fact it was mentioned on the tour. Apparently a former mayor owned the brewery that once occupied this building. Pretty nice menu. Was not expecting so many food options. Our server Mac C, was very helpful with the menu, and the beer. The burger was very good, and the spicy hummus outstanding. After I ate, I roamed the building. Wow, I was not expecting a pool hall upstairs. I stopped in here on a trip to Denver and had a couple of food items and the beer. Both were excellent. The pretzel is huge and had spicy mustard and cheese sauce. It was steaming hot and chewy. We stopped in for a snack and some beer after a tour outside of Denver. The bartop was quiet and we were greeted promptly by the bartender when we sat down. I honestly don't remember the beer I had, but it was decent. What I definitely remember is how much I loved the loaded green chile fries. They were so flavorful and the pork was so tender. My wife and I just had our reception at Wynkoop, and the staff were all amazing and made it an incredibly wonderful and memorable night! Nathan helped us book the place and answered all of our questions so quickly and SO thoroughly! The staff set up the Morey-Brown room, plus a good amount of space outside of the room for our 50 guests. The in-house catering was beautiful and delicious. Brian and Zach were our wait staff that night, and they were on top of everything! They were so courteous and helpful the whole time. We always recommend Wynkoop Brewing as one of our go-to restaurants for when family and friends visit. It's one of the best restaurants within walking distance from Union Station. It's also a good restaurant to get a good variety of food or a change of atmosphere. Main level you've got your bar or dining area, then upstairs there's more tables and pool. Food is always great and served very quickly! All the food came out so fast our whole table was full. Only request would be for more water. This was one of the most average brewery's I have ever been to. The beer selection was ok. Not a ton of options. We visited several hours before a Rockies game and it was not busy. We were seated in the patio, which was small but nice. We ordered a couple of beers, they were good. We did order some food...bison burgers (which tasted just like a hamburger) and the chicken and waffle. The bison burger seemed like it was a frozen patty, but for $19 I'd assume a hand pressed patty. It was ok at best. The chicken and waffle was very good. The batter was light and golden, the waffle was light and fluffy, but the beer infused maple syrup was insanely good. I could have just drank that! Continuing on in Denver, we found this brewery which was recommended to me by multiple people on Reddit. It was a hot day, about 92° if I recall, and the mile long walk to get there was a little rough. We went inside and I was surprised to see how gorgeous it is. It is truly a must see if you go to Denver. We bullied up to the bar and immediately the bartender brought us some cold ice water. We sampled a couple of beers and made our choices as well as our sandwiches for our lunch and holy cow. My funky chicken sandwich was incredible. Our first time at Wynkoop Brewing and we loved it. It's located in a beautiful old building across from Union Station. The staff was friendly; the lead brewer, Kat and her manager Pierre came over to greet us which was very nice. We had excellent service at the bar (thank you K'lee). I highly recommend the spicy hummus with the warm naan, it was delicious. We are fried pickle snobs, lol, the batter and sauce were some of the best we've ever had, so kudos to the kitchen. There's an extensive beer list and I had both the Pumpkin Ale and the Lodo IPA. They've got several IPA's on tap, my favorite style. We'll definitely be back. read more

I had an odd experience here to start. To end it they completely stopped serving me despite me only having two high noons. I was with a relatively large group playing, pool, drinking, etc. And randomly out of nowhere I get told by one of my friends that the bartender said I'm cut off. (I am also crushing in pool at this time) So me, being in disbelief , because surely there is no way I'm cut off, go up to the bartender , and she lets me know I am indeed cut off due to being associated with that large party. I told her no problem, I totally understand, I don't want her to get in trouble or anything like that & to have a great rest of her night. To end the night, Mr. Mustache man (Wario from Mario) whips it up out of nowhere like a ninja, confiscates my only allowable drinks because I was cut off (despite those being the drinks I originally ordered). Full transparency, the place was very cool. I enjoyed the pool, the drinks & pretty much all of it. But I dislike the fact that I got cutoff randomly for being associated with party/individual that was cut off. That does not make sense to me. I'm told this is the oldest brewery in Denver. Across street from Denver Union Station, so it is super easy as a first step into the city after taking the train from the airport - cheaper than Uber and prob easier. I tried a few beers and found the Pitcher Perfect IPA was the one for me - at least out of their standard IPA and Pales. It was mild to medium hoppy, clean with a unique flavor that was worth the visit. The others were all a bit of a hoppy 'Amber-esc' for my taste and not reminiscent of these types. Reminds me of beer IPAs in Texas more than the west coast, which I think is the gold standard for them. Call me what you will. Worth a visit for the history, atmosphere and ease. read more

Wynkoop is a Denver classic since 1988 and it's fun to see some of the original beers that are still in the menu. Pretty good crowd before the Pink concert and the bartenders were having fun interacting with customers at the bar. Downstairs has the bar and about 20 tables with more upstairs and on the patio. Tonight 13 beers were on tap and for those of you who want something else there's a full bar. The food menu is has burgers, salads, apps, and a few entrees from Mac and cheese to chicken and waffles. The service was great and the beers I tried were tasty. I ordered their Loaded Green Chili Fries. It was supposed to come with white queso, green chili, cotija, lime crema, and cilantro. The queso looked yellow and was lukewarm, the crema tasted like regular crema. Didn't not get any citrus in this dish, and I didn't not see or taste cotija cheese. I'm not exactly sure how all of these items would have altered this dish, but what I received was delicious. Definitely very filling. I couldn't not finish this dish, and usually finish my plates. We are visiting from Portland Oregon and heard about this brewery on You Tube so we decided to come check it out once we got here. We walked in and it was a very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. The food was delicious and our waitor Thomas was amazing! There's also a large billiards area upstairs for those who like to have good beer and have fun. Perfect evening weather wise so ambience was really nice. We sat outside facing Union Station at a high top table. Beers were good - I got a Hefe and my husband got a Red Ale. The food was very average - I got the Brewers burger and he got the pork chops. For $19, the burger was very OK - had a fakey charbroiled flavor and wasn't overly flavorful or juicy. The sweet potato fries were tasty. The pork was VERY dry - was severely lacking a sauce (I thought it came with an apple sauce but it was mustarda glazed apples in top). Polenta was tasty.
