You get pretty fair deals when you purchase something, but don't expect to sell much, or get much, in the numismatic arena (even bullion collectibles, they only give spot price). Also, not impressed with the older guy there. He comes across like a pawn shop dealer and acts like he has better things to do. I had this platinum to sell and they kept scrutinizing it and looking under special microscopes and ultimately said they didn't trust it. I ended up getting it authenticated somewhere else and they gave me money for it. So there's that. Another experience I had was I had some foreign silver bullion and wanted them to check their authenticity with their equipment. Since they turned down the platinum I was worried about fakes. From the older guy we get a "we don't usually check that here." But they said they'd do it just the one time after we told them we didn't know. I suppose that was nice of them. It just came across real condescending is all. I'm sure they would check the authenticity if we were SELLING it to them, but as soon as they found out we weren't selling all of it they begrudgingly did us the "favor." Again, it's a good place to purchase coins and other neat stuff. Maybe my experience was uncommon, but I'm not wanting to go back because of it. read more

I called ahead to see if they would price match another retailer. Confirmed the price/quantity twice over the phone with the salesman. Drove 30 min one way. They now state they won't honor it. Drove home irritated, and now when I try to place my order at their competitor they sold out of stock in that hour timeframe. So not only did Xavier not honor their quote over the phone, but I lost out on a great deal with another vendor. To say I'm furious would be a massive understatement. I won't be back. The owner in response claims I only wanted 40 Coins. Why would I drive 30 min for such a measly amount? I explained I wanted to order 280 to finish off a monster box. But your theory is plausible, I could have (and should have) ordered online. Instead I'd drive that distance for 40 coins? The difference in price for 500+ vs. 280 quantity was $0.10/coin. I would not recommend going here if you want any sort of information/history of your coins. If you only want to know how much your coins are worth, than you've hit the jackpot. I went in with an 1898 Barber dime and some wheat back pennies. Had asked the young man working the front for any sort of information he could tell me about the dime. His response. "It's an 1898 barber dime, and it's only worth its weight in silver". That's the only thing he could tell me about it, or was willing to tell me. He just genuinely didn't seem passionate about his job or informing customers about what they have. No matter what the condition of their coins. read more

This used to be my one stop shop for bullion and rare coins. I'm not sure but I believe there's a new owner and he's running the place like a pawnshop. If you buy silver they charge you a premium per ounce and if you're looking to sell silver, they will not give you the market value or SPOT. Nope, they charge you a premium to sell your silver. When making money becomes more important than your customers, that will always be a losing bet. My advice, go anywhere except for Xavier coin. read more

Haven't been by in a while, but have never been disappointed. The world coins are cheap, and absolutely wonderful for kids and crafts! The world coins are adorable just glued on silver ringbacks or used as game tokens. I have found a few of my favorite rings and pendants in their "misfit silver" bin. They just put the pieces you pick on a scale, and charge a small percentage over what silver is that day. They did/do have a bin you can ask for behind the counter of things that will be melted. Save it!!!! Hammer that Zuni ring back into place. It's sad how much beautiful jewelry gets melted Go to this place if you are in the area! You will not be disappointed! Dont understand how or why my review was removed. But dealt with a young kid who knew nothing of Lincoln pennies. Told me my collection is worth face value. Even said a few of my buffalo nickels were probably no more than a dollar together. So when I asked what they would buy in the Lincoln cent series. He said not much really worth anything maybe 1909 VDB and 1955 DD. So I asked what about 1969 S DD? He had absolutely no clue what that was. Said he had never heard of it and grabbed a book from the shelf and that booked was probably from the 70s way out of date. He said I dont see that in the book so probably not. At this point I'm over it. Stick with your gold and silver. from the reviews it kinda sounds as if your even failing at that. Your gonna need more friends and family to get a better rating. You wont make friends doing sleazy business and not having a bit of knowledge of the products you buy or sell. Also maybe try having a bit of passion for what you do. It really showed that your just in it for the money and it shows through your reviews as well. I hope this review helps all you other collectors that are in a tight spot in life and have to unfortunately sell parts of your collection. I am not a coin collector. I went to Xavier looking for WW2 related currency and coin. The staff at Xavier were very helpful. They were quite knowledgeable and willing to share information with me. They have an impressive selection of currency, coin, and precious metals available. I will definitely return when I have more time to explore their inventory. I acquired a North African dollar and a Hawai'i dollar. They had Vichy France coins as well as Italian Fascist ones. They had German ones which I did not have time to explore. We have been going there for a long time, and suddenly they will not check gold or content anymore... very disappointed. I complained to the worker there about them not being willing to check the metal of the bracelet I brought in, or the pin either... answer? ... it's not gold... I wanted to know WHAT the content/metal was ! We are in resale... and Xavier is not very helpful these days even though we buy coins from them... still no desire to offer service to me as a buyer.
