I've been buying wetsuits and Lycras here for years! It's the only place my fam and I buy our wetsuits from. Even though it's all the way in Haleiwa we still buy form here. They have the biggest selection of wetsuits ( full suits, spring suits, long sleeve tops, short sleeve tops etc) and the most recent models with the newest technology for the materials. Customer service has NEVER disappointed me. They're always friendly and patient, especially with helping my kids find the right fit for them. And also patient with my younger ones running all over the her the store! Lol read more

My final memory of Oahu will be of this Excel outlet b/c this is where we spent about 45 minutes before jetting off to catch our flight to Kona. Not sure if it's an ongoing promo - but everything was at least $20.00 off the lowest ticketed price so the group of paddlers I was traveling with left no part of this store uncovered or unexplored. I personally haven't had much luck with Excel shorts (I think they fit better on smaller more petite frames), but I did find a pair of capri's for a good deal. My friends stocked up on lots of gear and they were having a great sale on wetsuits. Lots of size 7's (which is more of a size 4 or 6) for women's - great deals to be had if you are willing to pick through things and can find your size.. Slim pickings for medium in men's. Service was very friendly. read more

I am not a surfer but my ex -bf is a shaper/sander down in Wahiawa so he's always surfing. One day we went up to North Shore with the kiddos and decided to stop by here to buy my son (who's 2) his first wetsuit. This was our third visit since we came here to buy (my daughter) her, her wetsuits. Sooooo cute they have all sizes from 1 and up to adult sizes. Color selection is rather limited but we ended finding a blue one so cute. The sales guy (local guy) was super nice! Not to be mean but the aloha spirit is rather hard to come by up at North Shore nowadays which is really sad:( We ended up talking story for a while. They offer a kamaaina discount, but sorry if you can't say kamaaina and say kama'er'na, ah please don't try to pass yourself as local, it makes you look stupid. Kinda pricey but hey its a wetsuit it lasts forever... read more

It only makes sense that the producer of some of the best wetsuits has a factory outlet near the epicenter of surfing for the entire world. I stopped by to get a look at new rashguards and wetsuits for myself. I was glad to see they covered everyone from keikis to big bruddahs 3xl! Also seen things I never seen before like rashguards with built in hoodies. The selection is limited to only Xcel products and splashes of other peoples stuff. I have shopped here for years, before it was bought out by a big company. I fully intended to buy some things for myself and for Christmas presents but walked out with nothing. The girl working never greeted me, never asked to help, and never asked if I needed to try anything on. She talked on the phone with her back to me the entire time. The store was empty and it was a slow day. I wanted to ask her some questions but gave up. The merchandise is great. Sales staff need customer service training. read more

First of all it's a Factory Outlet....but it's a Factory Outlet of my most FAVE wetsuits and outer wear products! YAY!!! I was there last weekend for Thanksgiving to see what I could find. I'm a pretty thick gurl who likes to play in the great outdoors and especially Mother Ocean. I also like to stay warm and comfortable. Xcel products hit the mark for me every time. Last year I bought a beautiful cobalt blue 4/3 wetsuit marked down to $109. Leather Flip Flops for $20 and A pair of really sturdy water socks with tread on the bottom and reinforced toe on sale for $10. AS if this wasn't good enough, there was a 20% off sale on anything Xcel brand....Dang, I hit pay dirt! With all of that happiness carrying me away...this year I ventured back up to North Shore to see what goodies I'd find. Whoa...Nessie...there were rash guards, board shorts and hoodies galore....all in my size and all sporting the amazing Xcel quality I've come to appreciate so much. I made my purchases after being sure to catch up with the same guy who sold me my wetsuit last year and walked out happy that I was in the Land of Aloha! I love this place and will be sure to be back on my next visit...hopefully before next Thanksgiving! read more

Not very happy with my service- purchased a hat, it broke, and I was told over the phone that I could be helped if I came in. Drove 45 mins to be told they couldn't do anything... disappointing but nothing could be done except for a more honest staff. read more

This is the absolute WORST customer service I have ever received from a surf shop! I received a pair of neoprene wetsuit/paddler shorts for my birthday. I started wearing these shorts/bottoms in late November because it was getting cold on the north shore. I wore them about 3 to 4 times before the seams started unraveling around the waist line. I went to the Haleiwa Excel store/factory in November to see what could be done about the problem. The girl at the store told me they have a military order deadline and they won't fix anything until 2013 which basically means that I'm stuck with a defective for at least a month after only a short time using it. I asked the girl if 3 or 4 times wearing the product is the life of the product she said no, but refused to help me with the issue. She concluded that I should see the manager named Carr about getting it fixed. I went back to the store on the next Thursday, Carr was there but told the sales rep. that she was not available to see me about my problem with their product. The irritating thing is that I could see Carr from the sales counter and she didn't have the courage or the courtesy to address me in person, but rather told the sales rep to tell me that she was busy. This is the poorest customer service that I have ever received those shorts/bottoms are over $50 bucks. I used them 3 to 4 times and the seams starterd unraveling. Poor product worse customer service. In fact Excel claims to be a U.S. company, why don't you check the labels on their "factory," store merchandise. Check your labels people. These are crooks that focus on their profits, not their customers. In fact they are not even a Hawaii company anymore. They are owned by Billabong which is an Australia based company. Excel wetsuits never again! read more
