My old salon left me in the dust after going to them with my girls for years. When my stylist Karley left ( She did recommend some one to me, but the girl quit before I went back ) they didn't give me a replacement or return my calls and emails For an appointment. So, my husband found us a new salon. Later I will read on Yelp they did this to a lot of people. I went to Xcentric Salon today with my daughter in Vista, CA. This is the second time I have gone there. Last time was about a year ago. The last stylist was Denice and she did a wonderful job on my hair. My daughter went to her one time and also liked her. So, some time has passed since I had my hair cut, let alone colored professionally. It was time. My hair looked like crap and was in great need. I called to get an appointment, but found out Denice (That I would recommend ) is only there now on the weekends. I was sad because my weekends are full. I asked if there was some one else that could help me and my daughter. Shannon recommended Jen Larsen to me. Without telling her we were there for our appointment. She knew we were and gave us a lovely smile. We had never met her before either. As you know when you talk with stylist some can be boring or don't want to talk to you at all. We found Jen warm and carrying. A nice lady to talk with. My daughter has hair to her bottom and it's natural very light blond. If you have this color you know it's needs to be cut right or you can see every mistake. I didn't see any in her hair. Then it was my turn. Jen had already put the color on my hair. WOW, is all I had to say when she was done. My hair was worse that I thought it was. Jen fixed it! My color is wonderful and the cut is up to date. I would highly recommended her. You wont be disappointed. Oh, It's a small salon but atmosphere is nice and know blasting music. You wont be disappointed. read more

I got my hair cut at Xcentric over a month ago. I was waiting to write a review hoping that my hair would grow out a bit and I would like it better, but unfortunately that's just not the case. I went in with a picture of exactly what I wanted, which was a bunch of fun layers in a medium length cut. The picture showed a shorter version of that. I said, "I want this, but longer. It has to be long enough to put in a ponytail." I was asked explicitly, "do you want the same length at the bottom or do you want an A line." I specified I wanted the same length all around because I don't like A line. Toward the end of the cut, when I was facing a mirror, I asked the woman, "Um, isn't this A line?" Her response, "yes, it is. Do you want me to take it up a bit?" Why yes, yes I do. I don't like A line. So she took up the front a bit, but I still ended up with an A line cut. What's worse, I ended up with an A line cut that's too short to put in a ponytail. When she was done, she asked me what I thought. Being the chicken that I am and not liking confrontation or hurting anyone's feelings, I said I liked it, paid, and left. I went home, looked in a mirror, and cried. +1 star for being really nice and getting me in for an appointment the day after I called. +1 star because, had I wanted a short, A line cut, with layers, she did actually do a good job. The layers were even, the line was precise, and it was a skillfully done hair cut. -1 star for not being long enough to put in a ponytail. -1 star for being an A line cut after I said twice that I didn't want A line. And finally, -1 star for making me cry. I won't be back. But, to be fair, if you want a short, A line cut, you really should go here because they did do a good job. My issue is not that the cut itself was terrible. My issue is simply that it was not at all what I wanted. read more

Love, love, love my cut!! I was having some issues with my short haircut, and then I met Denise from Xcentric Salon! I just had my second cut with her last night, and couldn't be more pleased. She's particularly sensitive to not cut it too short, and it is sassy! Since my first haircut with Denise, my co-workers are all asking me where I got it cut, and raving about the style, and several people are already going to her. Another thing, when she styles my hair, I love it - so many times I've left a salon and gone right home and re-washed and styled it myself before letting anyone see me :-) ! But, when Denise styles my hair, I'm happy, and would go anywhere. Anyone out there who's looking - see Denise! read more

If I could give Epic 10 stars I would.I have been going to Sarah for 7 years going on 8 and wouldn't trade her for anyone else. She is amazing at what she does. I have never left disappointed she always leaves my hair exactly the way I want it. I get compliments on my hair all the time and have referred her number of clients because of how great she is. I couldn't be happier with any other hair stylist she is AWESOME!! The owner is very nice... I personally don't get my hair done by her but I have seen her work and she is great besides being super friendly. I love Sarah she is the best and highly recommended by me after going to her for almost a decade. read more

I have known Sarah for almost 10 years now and she used to do my hair all the time until I moved away for several years. I have never been able to find a stylist like Sarah and when I finally moved back to town I started coming to her again and my hair has never looked better!! She is the most amazing hair stylist I have ever met. Every time I go to her she ALWAYS gives me the exact look I was going for. I have never loved my hair more. To top it off she brought me from a rich brown to a full on blonde and my hair is not damaged at all. I have never bad more compliments since she has been doing my hair. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! I was looking for a new salon/hairstylist to get my hair cut and my bangs especially, since my old hairstylist totally screwed up my hair. I am veeery picky about my hair so I was pretty nervous and I looked up a salon on yelp. This salon had good reviews so I decided to give it a test. I loved it in a heartbeat! They were verrrry nice and, the salon is cute and homey just like a salon should be. I was able to relax and Denise is an amazing stylist. This salon truly is Epic!! The atmosphere is wonderful, very comfortable and fun. Shannon has done my hair for a few years now and I wouldn't trust anyone else (EVER). She is always continuing to learn new techniques and trends so she she can be sure to give you the exact look you are going for. I am someone who is constantly changing my hair so this is a great benefit for me, I never leave unhappy and my hair always looks fabulous. I would highly recommend Shannon (and the salon) to anyone. My posting was removed by this company so I know this salon isn't a five star. I had sent a friend in and this place was not clean. And the owner accused me of knowing someone who worked there and I don't. The customer service was not good either. I wouldn't send anyone in there. It looks like their friends and family are their clients. My colleague will be doing a article in a spa magazine on salons that aren't up to standards. There are better salons in town and Carlsbad that are clean. read more

I am new to Vista and had put off finding a new stylist after my last one butchered my hair. I found a groupon for Jen Shines and made an appt.Jen was so warm and friendly. She was not rude because I was using a groupon as some people are. She took great care of my hair. I have blond fine curly hair and a bad cut shows immediately. I walk in for my flat top hair cut appointment, sit in a reclining chair for the most amazingly soothing scalp massage/shampoo that I have ever encountered. Shannon does a spot on job with the hair cut and then I get another trip to the shampoo chair to rinse all those unwanted cuttings from my scalp before the gel and final touches. Shannon is an awesome stylist and her shop is extremely clean and inviting. Wouldn't go anywhere else and would recommend Xcentric to anyone. read more

Before my stylist Sarah transformed my hair, it was just a normal boring head of long brown hair with side bangs. I came in with a picture and she made my hair friggin' gorgeous. I got a little longer than shoulderlength with bangs and layers, and I swear, I look like a movie star now. Plus she is super nice and talented and the decor is warm and welcoming. Sarah is amazing! I don't know why I ever strayed..I tried a new salon for the second time and she destroyed my bangs. I called Sarah to see if she could do anything and she squeezed me in. When it comes to hair, Sarah is a Rock Star-her flair for color and style is amazing! Sarah's passion for her job is apparant from the moment you sit in her chair.
