First time I've ever gotten out of a Hair Salon HAPPY with the results! I went in to the salon not expecting much, since all my other experiences with hair salons had been so disappointing. And I wasn't expecting something amazing, I just wanted to get my ombre fixed since I was getting married the next day (no pressure haha), but Denise was so lovely, and knew what she was doing, she did exactly what I asked and more! Nice talk, made the time go by so fast, caring, and so friendly. Oh, and cheap too! I'm definitely going back!

Denise was fantastic! I was super nervous about moving to a new area and having to find a new stylist, but Yelp helped me choose this salon and I'm so glad. Denise was friendly and fun to talk to, all while being professional and exceptional at her work. She retouched my dual-toned highlights at the roots seamlessly and gave me a super fun cut. She took the time to get the cut just right and made sure I walked out of the salon happy. I would definitely recommend her.

I am very picky when it comes to people cutting my hair. I was very happy the Denise took the time to make me feel comfortable. She spent the time to talk over the plan and see what I was most comfortable. Took two years of living in cali but finally found a hair dresser. Love my new hair color and fun cut.

Denise is my girl!! Ive lived in Oceanside/Vista for a year now, and have not been able to find a hairstylist that was a.) a talented hairstylist or b.) a likable person Denise is both of these and more. Her goal truly is to please her customers and give them exactly what they asked for. I have a very difficult schedule to work with and she came in early on what was supposed to be her day off, just to fit into my schedule. Also, when she noticed that the dye wasnt sticking on my hair well, she went and did a spot dye, which obviously took up more of her time, but she didnt seem phased about it what-so-ever. She's also a really fun spirit. She is very easy to talk to and has so many stories that can make a two hour appointment feel like twenty minutes. I love her skill and her service. I will be a regular to her chair as much as I can. I have to throw this in here as well, for the salon as a whole. Their Brazilian Blowout prices start at $150 !! everywhere else starts at 200+

Denise has been doing my hair for a long time now. I love her! She has such a positive vibe and great attitude. She is great in haircuts and highlights. I got married last week and she did my hair updo. I showed her a picture and she added more with her creativity and I loved the final outcome. I recently moved to vista and needed to find a new salon/stylist after my best friend had been doing my hair for the last 10 years. I came across this salon and numerous positive reviews about Denise, so decided to book an appointment. She got me in within a few days, and looked at all my pictures I had saved and listened to what I had in mind. We talked about my color and cut in detail before getting started and that made me feel much more comfortable! Denise was thorough, fast, and fun to talk to. Her prices are very reasonable, also! Sarah is amazing! I drive from Orange County to have her do my hair because I have never been disappointed. The color is always great and I get lots of compliments. Denise is a color wonder!!!! I brought in my extensions for my wedding, she matched them to a tee!!! She has true talent for hair, I wouldn't trust these tresses to anyone else. This place is pretty cool, even coming from a guy. I lost my stylist to another salon to far away from where I was willing to drive so I had to find another. I went on yelp and searched salons near me and this popped up with awesome reviews from mainly women do I was hesitant about calling and setting up an appointment but I'm glad that I did. I have seen Linda for two treatments, I am going on a monthly basis now. She has done a chemical peel and an oxygenation facial on me. She's courteous, kind, really takes the time to learn about you and your skin. She just a wonderful person who is so knowledgable about skin, products, and she is 100% correct when she tells you what results you will see. Her room is peaceful and welcoming, the atmosphere is awesome and you will be in for a treat :-) read more

I have been going to Jen Larsen to have my hair cut, colored, styled and beautified for over 8 years. She is a master stylist and knows how to give a fantastic cut! I have long, wavy hair which is not difficult to take care of - with the right cut. I have gotten many, many compliments on my cut from other stylists, as well. Went in as a last minute appointment with Kathy. Quaint salon, not high end like most others (which I personally loved), the atmosphere and service was amazing! My stylist started out with a consultation and really took time to discuss and explain what I wanted. Very friendly people that kept a conversation going, made me feel welcomed and relaxed. They guaranteed my cut for a week, so if I decided to make a change in that time I could just go back. But that won't be necessary because I just adore my new look and it's exactly what I wanted. I tried this place out and I wasn't impressed. I wanted products and they didn't have much of a selection at all. I wanted to make an appointment but it wasn't clear who I should talk to. The customer service was not great. It felt cramped in there. Wouldn't recommend this place. There are some nicer places down the street. read more

I love my hair cut! Kathy was my stylist and I am so happy with how my hair turned out. My hair was very long and I wanted to go short to mid-length. I had some pictures with me and Kathy discussed the different looks. She listened to what I wanted and made me feel very comfortable. I am so happy with the results. It was exactly what I wanted. I have been going their since it opened to get my nails done. The place is beautiful. It is a very fun atmosphere. Actually I have followed the manicurist for 12 years from place to place. I now get the shall ace nail polish. I work with the public and my nail polish stays on for a good 2 weeks. I am a very happy person :)!!! read more

I told Madeline what I wanted: Long curtain bangs, long layers (rounded and not cut into a V) with the shortest layer at my shoulder. Ask and you shall receive. Madeline did the damn thing. Edit to owners second response: my initial review was in no way rude, it was honest and I actually left out details to show kindness to the stylist. It's not her fault, I never even said her name and that was on purpose. No one was "put on blast" (how old are we?) It was simply an accurate description of my experience. Blaming me for the HUGE CHUNCK missing from my hair is funny. Yes I had cut my own bangs, no they were not fixed by the stylist...clearly, look at the picture. Since the owner knew who I was. She also could have called me, she chose instead to argue like a teenager over Yelp. For new potential clients to see. I'd. Be. Mortified. If someone left my salon looking like I did, but more mortified to be THIS petty. This will be my last response. Future clients beware. If you're unhappy, this is how you will be treated. FYI. My old salon left me in the dust after going to them with my girls for years. When my stylist Karley left ( She did recommend some one to me, but the girl quit before I went back ) they didn't give me a replacement or return my calls and emails For an appointment. So, my husband found us a new salon. Later I will read on Yelp they did this to a lot of people. I went to Xcentric Salon today with my daughter in Vista, CA. This is the second time I have gone there. Last time was about a year ago. The last stylist was Denice and she did a wonderful job on my hair. My daughter went to her one time and also liked her. So, some time has passed since I had my hair cut, let alone colored professionally. It was time. My hair looked like crap and was in great need. I called to get an appointment, but found out Denice (That I would recommend ) is only there now on the weekends. I was sad because my weekends are full. I asked if there was some one else that could help me and my daughter. Shannon recommended Jen Larsen to me. Without telling her we were there for our appointment. She knew we were and gave us a lovely smile. We had never met her before either. As you know when you talk with stylist some can be boring or don't want to talk to you at all. We found Jen warm and carrying. A nice lady to talk with. My daughter has hair to her bottom and it's natural very light blond. If you have this color you know it's needs to be cut right or you can see every mistake. I didn't see any in her hair. Then it was my turn. Jen had already put the color on my hair. WOW, is all I had to say when she was done. My hair was worse that I thought it was. Jen fixed it! My color is wonderful and the cut is up to date. I would highly recommended her. You wont be disappointed. Oh, It's a small salon but atmosphere is nice and know blasting music. You wont be disappointed. read more

I got my hair cut at Xcentric over a month ago. I was waiting to write a review hoping that my hair would grow out a bit and I would like it better, but unfortunately that's just not the case. I went in with a picture of exactly what I wanted, which was a bunch of fun layers in a medium length cut. The picture showed a shorter version of that. I said, "I want this, but longer. It has to be long enough to put in a ponytail." I was asked explicitly, "do you want the same length at the bottom or do you want an A line." I specified I wanted the same length all around because I don't like A line. Toward the end of the cut, when I was facing a mirror, I asked the woman, "Um, isn't this A line?" Her response, "yes, it is. Do you want me to take it up a bit?" Why yes, yes I do. I don't like A line. So she took up the front a bit, but I still ended up with an A line cut. What's worse, I ended up with an A line cut that's too short to put in a ponytail. When she was done, she asked me what I thought. Being the chicken that I am and not liking confrontation or hurting anyone's feelings, I said I liked it, paid, and left. I went home, looked in a mirror, and cried. +1 star for being really nice and getting me in for an appointment the day after I called. +1 star because, had I wanted a short, A line cut, with layers, she did actually do a good job. The layers were even, the line was precise, and it was a skillfully done hair cut. -1 star for not being long enough to put in a ponytail. -1 star for being an A line cut after I said twice that I didn't want A line. And finally, -1 star for making me cry. I won't be back. But, to be fair, if you want a short, A line cut, you really should go here because they did do a good job. My issue is not that the cut itself was terrible. My issue is simply that it was not at all what I wanted. read more

Love, love, love my cut!! I was having some issues with my short haircut, and then I met Denise from Xcentric Salon! I just had my second cut with her last night, and couldn't be more pleased. She's particularly sensitive to not cut it too short, and it is sassy! Since my first haircut with Denise, my co-workers are all asking me where I got it cut, and raving about the style, and several people are already going to her. Another thing, when she styles my hair, I love it - so many times I've left a salon and gone right home and re-washed and styled it myself before letting anyone see me :-) ! But, when Denise styles my hair, I'm happy, and would go anywhere. Anyone out there who's looking - see Denise! read more

If I could give Epic 10 stars I would.I have been going to Sarah for 7 years going on 8 and wouldn't trade her for anyone else. She is amazing at what she does. I have never left disappointed she always leaves my hair exactly the way I want it. I get compliments on my hair all the time and have referred her number of clients because of how great she is. I couldn't be happier with any other hair stylist she is AWESOME!! The owner is very nice... I personally don't get my hair done by her but I have seen her work and she is great besides being super friendly. I have known Sarah for almost 10 years now and she used to do my hair all the time until I moved away for several years. I have never been able to find a stylist like Sarah and when I finally moved back to town I started coming to her again and my hair has never looked better!! She is the most amazing hair stylist I have ever met. Every time I go to her she ALWAYS gives me the exact look I was going for. I have never loved my hair more. To top it off she brought me from a rich brown to a full on blonde and my hair is not damaged at all. I have never bad more compliments since she has been doing my hair. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! I was looking for a new salon/hairstylist to get my hair cut and my bangs especially, since my old hairstylist totally screwed up my hair. I am veeery picky about my hair so I was pretty nervous and I looked up a salon on yelp. This salon had good reviews so I decided to give it a test. I loved it in a heartbeat! This salon truly is Epic!! The atmosphere is wonderful, very comfortable and fun. Shannon has done my hair for a few years now and I wouldn't trust anyone else (EVER). She is always continuing to learn new techniques and trends so she she can be sure to give you the exact look you are going for. I am someone who is constantly changing my hair so this is a great benefit for me, I never leave unhappy and my hair always looks fabulous. I would highly recommend Shannon (and the salon) to anyone. My posting was removed by this company so I know this salon isn't a five star. I had sent a friend in and this place was not clean. And the owner accused me of knowing someone who worked there and I don't. The customer service was not good either. I wouldn't send anyone in there. It looks like their friends and family are their clients. My colleague will be doing a article in a spa magazine on salons that aren't up to standards. There are better salons in town and Carlsbad that are clean. read more

I am new to Vista and had put off finding a new stylist after my last one butchered my hair. I found a groupon for Jen Shines and made an appt.Jen was so warm and friendly. She was not rude because I was using a groupon as some people are. She took great care of my hair. I have blond fine curly hair and a bad cut shows immediately. I walk in for my flat top hair cut appointment, sit in a reclining chair for the most amazingly soothing scalp massage/shampoo that I have ever encountered. Shannon does a spot on job with the hair cut and then I get another trip to the shampoo chair to rinse all those unwanted cuttings from my scalp before the gel and final touches. Shannon is an awesome stylist and her shop is extremely clean and inviting. Wouldn't go anywhere else and would recommend Xcentric to anyone. read more

Before my stylist Sarah transformed my hair, it was just a normal boring head of long brown hair with side bangs. I came in with a picture and she made my hair friggin' gorgeous. I got a little longer than shoulderlength with bangs and layers, and I swear, I look like a movie star now. Plus she is super nice and talented and the decor is warm and welcoming. Sarah is amazing! I don't know why I ever strayed..I tried a new salon for the second time and she destroyed my bangs. I called Sarah to see if she could do anything and she squeezed me in. I called to make a complaint in tears cause I have a wedding to go to and the owner never offered a refund never apologized. Said "you just might need another haircut" no accommodations to have it fixed sooner. Thankfully I found a place that was able to fix the back and blend it cause when it was straightened the layers were extremely uneven my bangs were chopped super high. If you do go here ask for Isabel she does run super behind but she's the only one that seems to know how to cut hair there.
