Her wealth of floral knowledge and enthusiasm made her a joy to deal with. She changed what seemed to me like an overwhelming amount of decisions into something very manageable. As time was leading up to the wedding, little questions would pop up here and there, and Mirtha was always very quick to respond to my questions and wants. About six weeks before the wedding, I changed my mind completely! I changed the theme, and more importantly, I changed the color scheme. Mirtha took it all in stride and never made me feel like it was a burden. If anything, she seemed MORE excited by the changes and helped me to evolve my new ideas into reality. The day of our wedding, everything was perfect! Mirtha arrived early in the morning to drop off our bouquets and then was off to decorate the church and reception hall. Walking into the church for the first time, I could not have imagined a more beautiful setup. Mirtha had done everything exactly as we had planned. From the spectacular altar arrangements she designed to the delicate rose petals we stepped on walking down the aisle, nothing could have been better! Mirtha's amazing attention to detail meant that our flowers turned out to be exactly what I wanted and far, far nicer than I could have imagined. She coordinated with our reception staff, our cake lady, and our church to make sure that there was time to make everything as beautiful as possible. She was tabling and provided very straight forward costs on her services which I liked. I love Julia! Easy going personality and will "keep it real" with you in a professional way. Things I really loved about Julia: 1. She's best when you meet in person and takes the time to talk through everything (she spent a good 2 hours sitting down with us and never seemed like she was in a hurry to leave). The fiance and I were in our dining room sitting with her talking through the entire event and she came up with some GREAT stuff that we would NEVER have thought of i.e. renting a dance floor in the grass area during our reception so it'd be easier for us to do our first dance (and the price wasn't that bad!!) and the wine barrel bar. 2. She's very connected and can ping her network for answers or other ideas 3. I believe we were her #5 wedding, and she was able bring up logistical stuff that we didnt think of i.e. buffering some time to eat while we changed outfits (I'm Vietnamese so I had to do 3 outfit changes!) 4. Just REALLY loved how she can problem solve logistical stuff on the fly i.e. our wedding ceremony was outdoors and the walkway to the outdoor gazebo left me as a bride exposed and took away the "ahh!" because from the dressing room to the outdoor area was at least 500 ft). She came up with a great idea to have the bridal party, once they walked out, to line up to be like a human fence, so that I could walk behind them and make a more BIG reveal. I was so thrilled with this! 5. She SAVED my wedding. Apparently my cake lady took my dvd slideshow by accident, and about an hour before showing the video, she and the wedding coordinator were trying to figure out where it went. She was smart enough to figure out it was the cake lady (why of all people would she take it?!). Had my MoH call her (speaking in Viet) to explain that she probably took it and they said "Oops! Sorry." Brought it to the venue in the nick of time. I didn't even know this til the next day. Areas for improvement: 1. Responsiveness. I didn't figure out that she was most responsive via text than email. I would say I figured it out early on enough to make it work, although it would have been nice she prefaced one route of communication was better than the other. Some of the stuff we had to correspond via email (i.e. day of itinerary), so sometimes I'd have to ping her via phone if she got it, but 100% anytime I ping'd her on her cell, she responded ASAP. 2. Being aware of cultural nuances. This isn't by any means Julia's fault, but Asian people don't like to sit in the first row for some Godly reason, and so when you see the ceremony photos, it looks like I didn't have anyone at my wedding even though there were close to 150 people!! I think I was her first Asian wedding, so would have been good to make a final check to see if the first few rows were filled (and directing family to sit there so they don't feel obliged; we had them have boutineres so it's easy to distinguish who was whom). Overall, I had a really good experience working with Julia. She was at her best when we met in person and I LOVED her creative and logistical ideas. They really saved some of our wedding plans :). And I sent her pictures of how I wanted all the decorations during the reception and ceremony to look, and she executed them TO THE T!! I was really really happy about that. Our wedding was May 31, 2008 and I contacted Linda in December 2007. From the first time we spoke she spent great a amount of time giving me her last experience with my particulur venue and the things I needed to do to ensure my wedding went off without a hitch. This time she spent all before we had even agreed to hire her! For many months we prepped trying to get everything exactly the way I had imagined it. Thanks to Linda she took such AMAZING care of me, that I truly had no worries when it came to this aspect of the wedding planning. I knew that whatever she said she was going to do, she would follow-through. (A comment to the person who said she didn't have email?, that's really weird because since I had began communicating with her in December 07 and email is often the way we communicated.) When my husband and I walked into the reception hall both of our mouths were on the floor because it was literally transposed into this elegant/sophisticated hall. She had set the mood by turning down the lights, had crystals hanging from my back-drop, candles lit each of our guest tables...we couldn't ask for anything more. Just a side-note...in addition to the work that she does ahead of time, the work that she listed on my contract, this lady went ABOVE and BEYOND the call of duty that night. She was literally my fairy God mother, watching over everything and I thank her for that. She also did not use e-mail, so it was difficult to communicate with her because we had to find times that worked for both parties to be on the phone. We were very firm on the exact types of items we wanted to rent, and she did follow through with delivery of items exactly as we wanted. In the end, we were very satisfied with the overall look of our wedding reception and were happy to have stayed within our budget by going through her for our rentals. 1 star off: poor organizational and communicational skills 1 star off: poor taste (make sure you figure out exactly what you need to rent prior to your meeting with her)
