This bus is mainly for the Vietnamese community circuit in San Jose, LA, OC, and SD. You don't have to be Vietnamese to take the bus but most people seem to be. Loves: + Most affordable at $50/ticket if you're buying late. Other buses like Greyhound increase fares the closer you travel to your date. + Nice and clean bus + Nice bus driver (who spoke English too) + Left on time and arrived to my destination on time + Restroom / snack break halfway through for 15 minutes + Water bottle included (Note: You used to receive a free Lee's sandwich but no more!) Not so love: - Wifi did not work on this trip - Bathroom may or may not be available for usage during ride? - Only one trip per day at 8am Some more notes: 1. You can buy your ticket online or reserve over phone, where you'll get a QR code and pay in-person. 2. Apparently some buses leave before the departure time so I'd recommend arriving 15-30min early. Overall this is a no-frills type of ride and the lack of working wifi is not ideal if you're trying to pass time not just on your phone, but you get there safely and on budget. read more

Complaint About Poor Treatment by Hoàng Bus Company Date: October 27, 2025 I am writing to express my deep disappointment and concern regarding the way Hoàng Bus treats its passengers, especially elderly customers. My husband and I arrived at the bus stop in front of ABC Supermarket at 8:30 a.m., knowing that the bus was scheduled to depart at 9:15 a.m. I quickly bought some food to take along, and when I boarded, I saw that my husband was already seated in the very last row next to the restroom. Inside the bus, I noticed that eight seats in the middle section on the right side were roped off. Because I suffer from knee pain, I hoped to sit closer to the front. I politely asked why those seats were empty but unavailable, and why we had to sit all the way in the back. The driver told me to get off the bus so he could "settle" the issue. A bald man, who appeared to be part of the staff, lied, saying the seats had already been reserved for other passengers who had gone to buy food. However, once the bus departed, no one ever returned, and the seats remained roped off the entire time. Isn't it supposed to be first come, first served? The same man then ordered me to remove my luggage from the storage compartment and refused to let me back on the bus. His behavior was hostile, rude, and completely unprofessional. I was shocked and disheartened by the way Hoàng Bus treats its passengers--especially seniors. The employees showed no respect, kindness, or courtesy. Instead of helping or showing empathy, they spoke in a demeaning, arrogant manner and even used offensive language. Meanwhile, my husband remained seated at the back of the bus, yet I was still denied boarding. Another female passenger was also refused entry and had to call her family to come pick her up. After the bus had been on the 605 North freeway for about 25 minutes, the same eight seats were still empty. When the bus reached El Monte (Thuận Phát Market) at 9:49 a.m., the staff finally untied the ropes and began picking up new passengers to fill those seats. Why were these passengers from El Monte given priority over those who arrived earlier? Elderly passengers rely on these bus services for grocery shopping and visiting family. They deserve to be treated with respect and compassion, not with indifference and contempt. The level of customer service I witnessed was appalling--something that should never happen in a civilized society. If Hoàng Bus management has any integrity, I urge them to review their staff training, set clear standards for professional conduct, and issue a public apology to the passengers who were mistreated. I am sharing this experience not to have anyone fired, but in the hope that the company will take real steps to improve its service and ensure that no other passengers endure such treatment again. However, if nothing changes, I strongly recommend that everyone--especially those traveling with elderly family members--avoid Hoàng Bus at all costs. DO NOT TAKE I got this message out below. HOWEVER 8:26 got to the location and there is no bus 8:26 I call and ask where is the bus They tell me THE LOCATION THEY SENT IS NOT WHERE THE BUS SHOWS UP. They will send me another location over text but by then the bus had left. I call again and they say YOU SHOULD HAVE ARRIVED THIRTY MINUTES EARLIER AND CALLED US THEN SO WE CAN DIRECT YOU WHERE THE BUS ACTUALLY IS. They send the wrong location and expect US to compensate for that. If you're going to give the wrong location then you should feel bad and wait for the customer who was sent false info. However, making your ticket purchase on-site was fast and easy when youre there early. I recommended this to a friend who was on a tight schedule and budget. Located in San Jose. This is where they filmed Jose and the Pussycats. Oh wait, I can't back that up. This is a dirt cheap bus service run out of San Jose (and other Cali cities) that is way cheaper than the alternatives. They're like the new Megabus, and even cheaper than Megabus, but similar, and run out of Chinatown (or Vietnamtown in this case, which San Jose really is). Megabus has all the extra fees, this company doesn't. They give you a Banh Mi and bottled filtered (ew) water on every trip. Talk about going above and beyond. read more

Smooth driving, there are two buses from Bolsa to San Jose. One starts half an hour early, it goes straight to San Jose. Another one starts on time and stops few places to pick up the customers. It's the same from San Jose to Orange County. read more

My family's been taking this bus for years. It's $40 one way from San Jose to the OC (and vice versa) and it typically takes about 6 hours. They also give you a bottle of water and a Lee's Sandwich banh mi thit with your ticket. Buy this online for $30 and save $10 (Google it and purchase off some travel website). Then just show the bus personnel your receipt on your phone. Before getting on the bus, absolutely make sure your luggage is being put in the right compartment and you're getting on the right bus. Just tell them where you're going and they'll make sure you're gtg. One trip I took, some lady who didn't speak any English nor Vietnamese thought she was on the bus to San Diego when we stopped in Los Angeles and had a final stop in the OC. This review is from SJ to LA Also known as Hoang Transportation, LLC I booked my reservation online but no need to print it out. They didn't even look at mine. You pay when the bus gets there. I don't think the reservation truly guarantees a spot on the bus. I also noticed that there was another website that booked the same bus. I picked the prettier website to get my reservation. The SJ Pick up area not in front of Lee's Sandwich but actually on Burdette Dr. in front of a liquor store. Look for the white bus. I paid cash and when the bus started moving. Not sure if that is the only acceptable form of payment but that's what other Yelpers said to do. I am handed a tasty little sandwich. Slightly spicy with carrot, cilantro and some sort of mystery meat with a little bit of noodle. The bus is clean and nice. Since there was a previous stop in SF and Oakland, there were already people on the bus. I found a seat in the middle. There are 4 seats per row. So 2 on each side of the window. Its also really quiet. Just the sound of snacking, sleeping and some language being spoken that I can't tell which Asian culture it's from. But it's mostly quiet since a lot of people were sleeping. First stop was in Bakersfield at a gas station. We stayed for 10 min and then were off. As we get into LA an announcement is made. First in Vietnamese (I think) and then in English to say to call whomever it is that is going to pick you up in Chinatown to do so at this time. We arrive on time at Chinatown Metro. TIP: No place to plug in so unless you have a solar charger, your outta luck. And bring a neck pillow. I'm glad I did! And maybe bring a napkin for the sandwich. And don't forgot to bring cash! It was an emergency trip so I wasn't prepared. I called in around 7:00am and was told the bus was full. I showed up the bus station at 7:30am anyway and was put on the wait list. Half an hour or so later I got a seat on the bus. I was very happy! The bus left San Jose at 8:30am and arrived at ABC Market, Westminster just before 3:30pm without incident. The trip costs $50 and you get a small complementary water bottle. There was a 15-minute break in the middle of the trip. I will definitely do it again but be sure you call in in advance for reservation. read more

Out of all the buses I've been on to travel between NorCal and SoCal (Greyhound, Megabus, Amtrak, and this), this is by far my favorite bus, and is always my go-to. Pros: $40 flat rate from San Jose - Westminster , you get a bahn mi Vietnamese sandwich, a bottle of water, a napkin, and a plastic bag (this is actually very useful). These are huge value added things that probably don't cost a lot but really make the experience better. The other buses, needless to say, do not provide these. Also, the Hoang Express is almost always early or at least on time. The other buses are not as reliable and punctual as I've waited up to an hour for greyhound. Another benefit is the passengers are usually older Asian people or college students, which is good because they usually have smaller statutes and less risk of them bumping elbows. In the other buses, I would consistently have to sit next to very large people and make the bus ride uncomfortable. Cons: Only 1 trip each way everyday which leaves in the morning. Friday and Sunday nights have a 2nd evening bus. The prices aren't as cheap as the others, but you get what you pay for. Also there is no wifi or outlets. If they did, it would be an automatic 5 stars. I usually can get by with listening to music, audiobook, and podcast no trouble. Even if my phone is low, it's not hard to just take a nap. Another con is if you don't speak Vietnamese, someone might try and speak to you and you won't know what's going on. Don't worry, as I don't either and I never have to say anything. Just have your $40 ready when they come by to pick it up, or your email confirmation ready. Overall, the best bus to take if you're going to and from NorCal and SoCal! read more

You get what you pay for: Pros: consistent cheap pricing by distance (no extra charges or fees like its American competitors such as MegaBus), free Vietnamese Banh mi and water bottle. Cons: cash-only transportation service (must bring cash to pay before boarding), seating not cozy/comfortable for a long trip, WiFi internet does not work at all times. Poor/inaccurate web page information as there are also multiple bus rides from this same company that go the same route but with different timings that are not posted online (for example there are also earlier bus rides from San Jose to LA starting from 8 am too) - best is to call the company first before you go. There is also no real online reservation for this company (it's first come, first served for seating). I just had to post this to let everyone knows and maybe alert the business owner of xe do Hoang. I always thought that xe do Hoang is a reliable form of transportation from southern California to northern California and back, but I was wrong. The last trip I went on, the driver they hired did not know where they were going. When asked if they ever drove down to Westminster before, they said no. Despite that, the driver had nothing to guide them! No GPS, no map, no instructions. Nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Usually there would be a second driver/ guide who helps out if something happens, but they were alone... driving this bus of 60 people without an idea of where to go. I wasn't aware of this until the passengers in front was exclaiming how the driver missed the freeway and when asked, didn't know how to get to the destination. No one knew what to do until someone stepped up to use their smartphone to direct the driver. I thought there may be something shady here but it's not apparent until later. Not knowing where you are going puts your mind in a state of stress. The driver barely knows how to drive a bus, struggling to make lane changes. We usually get a break in the middle of the 7 hours trip, but they were not informed of that, so when told, they took a break 2 hours in and that's it. The driver also was not that confident, since they font know the road; they didn't get into the carpool lane, and stayed behind a truck for a while "to be safe." But the freaking truck was having emergency lights on because it's the type that is slow and stops abruptly! It may be partially the driver's fault for not being prepared, but most of what happened is due to xe do Hoang's lack of responsibility. I don't want to say this since I've taken them so many years and they have always been great. But what happened this day showed a total lack of professionalism. They gave the driver no training, no equipment, and total control of a bus full of passengers without caring about the passengers at all. We felt like our safety is at risk. When we arrived, we asked why the driver doesn't even have a GPS, they replied, "Oh, she doesn't use a GPS." Is that the answer that a company makes after it created this whole situation? I am baffled. Back home, I told this lady about what happened and my disbelief. She told me that it happened before too. The people who knew just pretend not to notice and wait for someone to direct the driver. I now know this wasn't just a one-time thing. I don't know if xe do Hoang just wants to save money by hiring unqualified drivers, not giving training, not providing equipment, and not having a second driver/guide on the bus (to save 40 bucks), or what, but this is the conclusion that seems fits regarding everything that is happening. There are a lot of competition that just started for xe do Hoang like xe do Phuong Thao and megabus. We wanted to use xe do Hoang or lowfarebus because they gave been consistently good. I thought that would make them treat their customers better. But if this is the way they are doing things, I'm not so sure anymore. read more

I have a love-hate relationship with this bus. It's faster than Megabus but it has no reservation system. They leave once the bus is full. Get there in advance (a hour, literally!) 5 stars because it got me to and from my destination without me needing to drive 6 hours to LA. Fare is $40 each way, CASH ONLY. You can make a reservation online, but it is unlikely they will check it. Just be present at the bus & they will go down the rows to collect the money after everyone has boarded. Banh mi from Lee's Sandwiches & a bottle of water is given to you at this location once you are on the bus. I recommended bringing a luggage that isn't too nice because it will get scratched up during the ride once you go to retrieve it after. If you have a small carry on or backpack, you can put it in the overhead compartment on the bus. Gotta say, thank goodness they run on Asian time because we would've really missed the bus back to SJ. That being said, they usually leave 5-10 minutes from the specified leaving time due to accommodating everyone. So, even if you are already seated, they often ask people to move seats or transfer to the other buses to accommodate everyone, which is kind of rude. Buses going down to LA usually makes stops as they hit LA for each city destination of the passengers. +There is a bathroom on the bus towards the back and the bus stops for a 15 minute restroom break as well. No outlet or wifi on the bus. It is a Vietnamese run company, so expect a lot of Vietnamese passengers. The driver doesn't seem to understand a lot of English, so be patient. I have taken this bus a few times. It's a quick and easy way to get from NorCal to SoCal for a reasonable $40/way. It also comes with a Vietnamese sandwich and a bottle of water. It might be a little hard to understand if you don't speak Vietnamese, but you could figure it out. They stop halfway in Bakersfield at a rest stop so you can use the bathroom if you're like me and don't want to use the one on the bus. Tip: I would suggest getting there early if you don't want to sit in the back of the bus next to the restroom. It can get pretty crowded and if there's not enough room, you have to wait for the next bus which they call when it's full. (I got there an hour early and was second in line after a couple because my mom wanted to be there super early, but 30-45 mins would work too). read more

They even threw our luggages right in front of our faces when we switch buses. It wasn't a good experience. Bought a ticket for the viet bus really last minute with my boyfriend. We got there 30 minutes before the bus was schedule to take off and the bus was pretty full. Had to sit in the back with a screaming baby. Beware of those!!!! They'll drive you crazy. The guy next to us was wearing ear plugs. Comes with Lees sandwiches and a bottle of water. I get on the bus, the driver was very nice to me, helped put my suitcase under the bus and I carried my purse. I had a very nice elderly asian man who told me about his past life, and made a new friend on the bus who was visiting his best friend. I've taken this bus for FOURTEEN years of my life, riding over 30 times. I have watched it evolved. From a tiny 10 seater van to a 25 seater bus to a 60ish seater tour bus. So i know this bus THOROUGHLY. TIPS and ADVICE: (from SJ to El Monte/Rosemead) -Just get to the bust stop early, 30 minutes before the bus arrives. I would say 7:30am, because it comes at 8:00am. They have the new reservation system here now.... either over the phone or online! -ASK ASK ASK before hopping on which location they drop you off at. They ALWAYS confuse people on the bus making people switch buses a couple times thinking they're on the wrong bus. (they usually have one earlier at 7 taking you to ABC and Westminister; one at 8 to take you to El Monte and Chinatown; one to San Diego) -BRING ALL YO ENTIRE LINE OF RELATIVES WITH YOU TO FIGHT FOR A SPOT! Just Kidding, it's good to have one other person with you. MY SECRET FOR GETTING A SPOT.... I run on to grab a seat while my aunt loads in my luggage into the trunk. The Viet dudes dont let you get on until you've fully loaded everything. -Dont drink too much water..... They only have one 15minute break around 11:00am-12pm depending on the driver. Their back restroom is kind of disgusting... they only have hand sanitizer, and all microbiology majors know that does nothing... -DONT sit near the back... you will smell everything..... -Bring entertainment with you if you dont fall asleep easily. They will always play Rush Hour 2, then Paris By Night (entirely in Viet) LOL. Facts: -$40 per adult -they give you a plastic bag, water bottle, one piece of towel paper, and a Vietnamese Banh Mi (sandwich) or Soy (sticky rice). But usually the older people in the front take the Soy before reaching the back. -Their limit is 2 luggage per person. Any additional is $5. -If you dont want to travel and just mail boxes, it's also a very convenient way to send packages back and forth from norcal to socal. Literally will arrive within the day you send it. The recipient will have to drive out to the stop to pick it up. $5 per regular sized package, a big package is $10. -you will arrive within the interval of 2-3pm depending on traffic Why I rate this 2 stars: -The people who run the bus are utterly rude -the people who sit on the bus are usually viet people who are also rude to you and inconsiderate. Often, they adjust their seats to go all the way back and invades your space completely making it a bad ride. BUT luckily that has changed since I rode it back in elementary school... I had a very bad experience today. The worse customer services ever. I will go ahead and tell you why. First off, we reserve a seat on their online system, and it states that we are guarentee a spot on the bus. When arriving there are hundreds of people waiting in line. I walked up to the guy and told him that we had a reservation, all he did was ignored us. Seems like they dont care. Whats the point of having a reservation if you dont honor it? Very bad. After the first bus left, the 2nd bus came. The 2nd bus came and everyone rush to get seated like animals, so I was left without a seat again. Once again I had a reservation. This place advertise on their website that you will be guarentee a seat, but they seem to laugh at you. Their website and services are all misleading. After coming there 1 hrs early and waiting another hours, I decided not to go anymore and just went home because of poor service and bad reservation system. This company needs to follow their own rules or should be shut down. They need to have like a line for reservation and non-reserve, so that way the poeple that reserve a seat should be seated first. For those who have never taken it before, here are some helpful tips :) Getting to the bus: - Do not make a reservation. It is pointless. - Get there 30-45 minutes early. You may be put on an earlier bus with less people and hopefully get 2 seats to yourself. - They will always have room for anyone but you may be stuck in a 7 seater van if you come towards the end. - They leave ON TIME. and do NOT WAIT, even with a reservation (see? pointless.) On the bus: - They will ask you where you plan to go and they will tell you which bus to go on - You'll get a Vietnamese sandwich and a bottle of water. - You normally pay AFTER you are seated and the bus is already moving. - There is 1 pit stop For $40, you shouldn't really complain. The xe do hoangs will take you from the San Jose location (located at the side of the Lee Sandwich plaza in front of Lee laundromat) down to Socal to make stops at chinatown/la or el monte/ rosemead all for $40 one way. Remember to arrive at least 45 minutes to the bus arrival time to be the first in line to get a seat on the bus. Feelin spontaneous? Want to find a very last minute affordable trip? VietBus is your answer. No reservation required, just $40 bucks cash if you want to go to socal to norcal, vice versa! Make sure to check for their schedule on their website. They also give you a Lee's Vietnamese sandwich and a bottle of water with a plastic bag. I recommend you show up about 30 to 40 minutes early and claim a spot in the bus. The bus fills up fast and if they hit capacity, they will leave. My ride was from San Jose (5PM) to El Monte (11PM) (2nd drop was West Minster). I really like how this bus was very punctual with the departure time and the driver drives as fast as cars so we got to our destination on time even with traffic and our break time was 10 minutes. It might not be the most safffee, but CA 5 is a straight line and I had my little sister waiting for me at the drop off and so it was critical that we got to our destination on time, within reason of course. My sister did not have to wait for me in the scary dark El Monte plaza because we arrived on time. So thank you driver! The bus itself is an older bus, no outlets, rather small leg space and old suede seats. Some of my concerns during the ride was that the group of people I was with with had no manners what so ever. Some guy was playing EDM really loud majority of the time. I did like a lot of the songs but still not everyone likes edm! Put on earphones or lower the music man! The lady behind me was was talking on the phone very loud or to her friends throughout the ride, and she put her bare foot up near my shoulder on my seat and I was so grossed out.. At least 6 people had their phones going off at MAX volume LOL Man I got there super early too so I can make sure I wouldn't be near all the noisey people. So I would recommend earplugs and a eye mask and just try to sleep because this bus has no outlets for your phone either. Xe do Hoang is great, friendly service, reliable, on time even arrived at destination 15' earlier. I lost a pair of "Ray-Ban" glasses, when I got to my uncle's home in Rosemead, L.A. from San Francisco. I was kind of panic I knew it must be on the bus so I called the operator. I let "co Tam" know where I sat and described what the glasses look like she told me to meet the driver Hung next day at 10 am. in front Thuan Phat Super Market. If i could give them zero star i would. Customer service is crap, I went in the morning to send my aunt a package, asked the guy 2 questions, "where is it going to? And how much do i have to pay?" His reponse " going to where we uasually go, and it's $7 dollars" I asked " where is your usual location in Santa Ana?" His answer " you see that letter right there? It's going there" Letter have "ABC" on it, and that's it. I told him, if he's not happy today he should not go to work today. If his wife yelled at him, then dont take it out on people just because he cant handle his family situation. (I was pissed already) I just paid & make sure that he wrote my aunt's name in the list to call. To manager & owners, please talk to your employee, tell them to stay home, don't throw a tantrum at customers when they didnt do anything to them and this really make your business look so bad, beyong words can describe. read more

The beloved Fob Bus. You can depend on it running once a day, but don't count on it being on time. It runs on Asian time...deal with it. For $40 you're looking at: - A trip from San Jose to LA's Chinatown or El Monte - A Vietnamese sandwich from either Lee's Sandwiches in SJ or Banh Mi Che Cali if your trips starts down south. - A bottle of water - A plastic bag - A NAPKIN!! - Entertainment from various DVDs such as Paris By Night, Asia, or Van Son...if you're lucky you'll get to watch...an AMERICAN MOVIE! If you just need to ship a package or something, a large suitcase will cost you around $10..and a small package $5. Perfect for transporting merchandise to keep your drug cartel running...just kidding. There is typically one stop, but there is a bathroom on the bus. Beware if you sit in the back you might be inundated with bathroom fragrance. Attractive. The fob bus is super handy when you feel like making a trip up and down California. The OC, SD, LA, or the Bay...they got you! It's also a great place to work on your Asian accents. read more

I've used the vietnamese bus service many many times. I have not had a problem using this service. You can call ahead and reserve yourself a spot, but it's usually first-come first-serve basis. Be prepared to find yourself being pushed around by pushers who must get a seat at the front of the bus! For $40, you get to sleep/read/listen to music/watch movies/play with your iphone/itouch/ipad/ talk loudly on your phone while others are sleeping.....while a fast driver takes you to and from NorCal to SoCal on an average of 5.5 hours. Let's not forget a bottled water and a banh mi (usually from Lee's sandwich). When I first started taking the bus, the bus would always play Paris by Night. Thank goodness they have a variety of other movies to play. Warning- NEVER sit in the back near the bathroom. Think about it. Sometimes there's traffic. People need to pee... and sometimes #2 on long rides. Bathroom door opens. Whoof of bad air. No windows opened. Yikes!! read more

I've been on the Xe Do Hoang about a dozen of times, but this experience was especially memorable...and we're not talking the good kind. Firstly, when it comes to making reservations, only make a reservation (phone or online) if you're leaving from Chinatown (Los Angeles) to get up north. Otherwise, there's no point because they don't check/care and you'll need to wrestle for a seat anyways. I understand that my trip was during a busy Labor Day but that gives no excuse for the poor customer service I received: (-) They advise you to arrive early before the first bus departs at 8:00 a.m. I arrive at 7:30 a.m. but three buses and 45 minutes later, I was finally on the bus. (-) They don't communicate to their customers: I had no idea which bus was which and instead, relied on their responses to all of the other customers who were turned away. I highly recommend they get a sign to designate which bus goes where. (-) They stopped four times and did not seem apologetic in the slightest; (1) first, we exited to pick-up the man who delivered our Vietnamese sandwiches and collected our $40 (2) next, we dropped off the man (3) then, we were told to de-board the charter bus and hop into a 14-passenger van because we were told that the A/C was broken (4) and lastly, they stopped to switch drivers (plus the scheduled bathroom break near Bakersfield). How frustrating! To be fair, if it were any other day other than a holiday, it would have been just fine. We still arrived relatively on time, a sandwich and water bottle were provided, and for $40 and the fact that I didn't have to drive and put the wear and tear on my car, made it worthwhile. Plus, I bumped into my friend on the van (misery really does love company!). To sum it up, avoid riding on the holidays and expect the unexpected! read more

I've had okay experiences with this bus. Reliable in the sense that they never sell out. But hella loud on the bus. Anyways my aunt just took the bus Sunday from la to sj and apparently the bus made a big ass u turn after an hour or two to pick up a suicidal passenger (the passenger apparently was ill informed on bus boarding procedure and called the bus company demanding a pickup, and would commit sudoku if not picked up). A good company should just buy the person a plane ticket rather than "hijack" a whole bus. I'm giving one star because of that incident. Otherwise two stars because there are better options (megabus boltbus) than the now overpriced xe do Hoang. read more

As noted by everyone else, ONLINE and PHONE RESERVATIONS ARE USELESS. It's first come first serve so if you're taking this on a weekend, get there an hour to hour and a half early. It's interesting that there are some negative reviews because lets face it - Vietnamese people are NOT big in customer service, honoring reservations and doing business in an organized and proper fashion. I think you should just be blessed that there is even a service like this that only costs you $40 which is cheaper than flying or driving. Yes, a greyhound is cheaper but isn't it uncomfortable to sleep on the bus with one eye open at all times with all the sketchy people on it ??? Xe Do Hoang gets you to where you want to be. If you don't speak Vietnamese, thats too bad but the operators speak enough English to yell out your exit so as long as you can understand that much, you're set. For those of you who come late and notice that there's a bunch of other people standing on the curb without seats on the bus - don't worry too much if you have a posse of 30 people...Xe Do Hoang will often call another bus to come but it may take another hour. They don't like to lose business so if you're willing to wait, they will come. read more

Let me just say, this bus company was the worse. The bus ticket was extremely expensive for some low quality bus. I've taken 8 dollar buses back in the east coast and they were way better than this bus experience. The experience I had with this bus trip wasn't so pleasant. The bus driver was very frustrated and angry about driving his passengers. It gave off a bad vibe. When it was time to switch buses, he yelled at all the passengers and told us to wait. And when it was time for the bus drivers to switch the luggages, they threw everyone's luggage carelessly. This bus company really needs to tell their employees to chill because they seem like they hate their job and hate the fact that they have to drive their passengers. This bus company really gave me a bad impression. I don't recommend anyone taking this bus. read more

I moved to SoCal a year ago and my parents still live in San Jose. Instead of driving and wasting extra gas/food money, i take xe do hoang because it's only $40. Plus they provide you with a sandwich and a water bottle. The bus ride is 6 hours long with one pit stop. I really have nothing to complain about the bus in general except the people. Some can be loud, rude, and just plain obnoxious so let's pray on the day you go there won't be people like that. There is a bathroom on the bus but I try to avoid it because when the bus is moving and a man is trying to you know, pee... You're going to have to be the one cleaning it up if you're using it after them so I suggest bring along some disinfecting wipes. read more

When I first moved down to la, I would take this bus as my way of transportation back and forth from la to sj. When your not going home for the holidays it's empty. So the only way I take the bus is when airline tickets are more than 60 one way. Since the price of the bus is $40 one way. Xe do Hoang: $40 one way Free water and Vietnamese sandwich and if you're lucky you get an area by yourself. Tip: sit in the back but not to close to the toilet. Why?! One you wanna avoid the oldies and the strong smell of tiger balm and eagle brand. Two, avoid the smell of the bathroom. Oh if airline tickets are cheap enough go that route. Saves you 5-6 hrs travel time. I once took this bus and during winter they didn't even turn on the heater. So I came back to la with a fever/cold that lasted for a week. Wack. read more

A great and cheap way to get from Westminster to San Jose or vice versa. They run everyday, so if you decide to head down south or up north tomorrow you can just jump on to Xe Do Hoang and you are there in 6 hours. For $40 Dollars you get a Sandwhich from Lee's Sandwhich if you start from San Jose, or Banh Mi Che Cali if you start from Westminster. A water is also included Now I'm not a big fan of Paris By Night, but if you get a cool driver he might toss in a good movie or two. There is also a restroom on the bus just in case you really have to go, but it does a pit stop halfway up for restroom breaks and snacks if you need to purchase anything at the convient store in Buttonwillow. If all you need is to ship a package or a suitcase then its a small charge of $5.00 for a 15lb package and $5.00 more for every 15lb more. This bus is really convient if you decided to go tomorrow and did i already mention its CHEAP. read more

English website: http://www.lowfarebus.com/ I tried this Vietnamese bus thing a while back to get from SJ down to LA and it was pretty COOL. My friend took it once down to SD even! I was a bit freaked out in the beginning because I've experienced riding an overnight Vietnamese bus when I was in Vietnam going to Cambodia and it was a tad crazy! But this is America after all, so I guess I shouldn't have freaked out so much. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be =P In fact I thought it was pretty convenient. You pay $40 one way from SJ (in front of Lee Sandwich on King Rd) and the bus takes you to El Monte (or LA Chinatown or elsewhere. Check the website). The fare also includes banh mi and water. There's a toilet in the bus but don't sit next to it, of course! The bus takes a 15 minute stop on the way down. Use the bathroom there and refill on snacks. There's also wifi and AC on the bus. The chairs were pretty comfy and you can recline. I slept almost the whole way through! There's also TV and thankfully it didn't play any loud vietnamese music vids. The whole trip also only took 5 hours! Superrrrrr convenient if you don't want to drive or don't want to spend extra to buy plane tickets. Or only need a 1 way drive down and don't want to spend the extra $ on a plane ticket. But I think if you have 3 or more people in your group, it would be better to drive your own since you'll save more then (gas money split 3 ways vs. $40 each person). read more

I went in to this not knowing what to expect, and having read most of the recent reviews i have to award a "WOOHOO as good as it gets", for several reasons. Allow me to list : 1) Special weekend promotion of $20 from San Jo to LA is a deal no matter who's talking. But the everyday fare of $40 is not exactly a fleecing! 2) The bus left on time, arrived on time and the driver was safe, allowing for a white knuckle free 6 hours. 3) Clean, new and comfortable bus. 4) Sandwich and lunch! 5) You can bring several bags, boxes and luggage without any question. One thing that is lacking is an official parking lot, as the boarding area is on a side street adjacent to a semi ghetto mini mall. Fine. I parked on the main street while being mindful of a Wed street sweeping warning sign. Ideally, you might have someone drop you here, but i left my car on the main drag (McLaughlin Ave) and no issues. I didn't try to park in the lot where the bus loads/unloads but perhaps that is plausible. Either way, this is a clean and economical way to travel if the locations are workable for you and SW or others are running in the + $300 RT range and you prefer to save a couple hundred bucks. One aside, there was an especially loud Chinese couple behind me that didn't follow practiced auditory transport etiquette but that is no fault of the company here.Two harsh turnaround glances at least halved their deafening decibel level.
