Problem with this station is that there are no vending machines and not knowing the area. Hard to venture out with luggage in tow to look for edibles. No luggage check ins here. My bus was delayed but no announcements were made. A lady employee finally came out to tell passengers there is delay due to traffic but no eta for bus. After that, no more updates. Bus came 1 1/2 hours later with passengers standing around. Where was the customer service? This station. Is not busy with lines of passengers making inquiries and there were two employees.

This is one of two Light Rail stations in the 95136, and during the time I frequented it, there was ample security and plenty of parking. (I also loved that my daily fare was covered by tuition!). I'll never forget crossing over the overpass from the parking lot, seeing my train coming in from Almaden, and running down the stairs and across the platform to leap onboard before it pulled away. Those were some good times. My husband also proposed to me here in the parking lot with security looking on from the platform. (Yep, we met at the 2nd St. Station and a proposal followed at the Branham Station some 17 months later:)

This room was $1300 for 2 people and came with a private bathroom. The train is very old & the entire room was the size of a closet. The sleeping quarters were unbelievable uncomfortable. And two people could not comfortably fit in the bed down below so one had to sleep in the bunk bed where your face is 6 in. from the ceiling and if you're over 6 ft tall you have to sleep in fetal position. There is no room to move. The toilet backed up. The air conditioner/heater didn't work properly. The one chair in the room was broken. Since I came home yesterday, I am still trying to get a hold of Amtrak to get compensated since this room wasn't all that was advertised. The reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because the service was very good. The people working on the train were very nice. But I can honestly say it was one of the worst vacations of my life. And I will NEVER overnight stay on a train again.

This is my go to station!…read more Its the last stop in San Jose before going down to Gilroy so when I take it to the city I'm literally the first and last stop. Yes it can be a long ride but that's why you take the bullet (which makes less stops.) Advantages: - If you live in South SJ you can get to this Cal Train station without the fwy. I take Almaden Expressway all the way down there. - FREE PARKING! Which is WAY better than $4 a day at DT SJ Diridon Station. This is great since sometimes I spend the night in the city and have left my car and its been fine. - Plenty of parking. Even when you get to the station somewhat late you can park your car in the dirt area like others do. Be careful of the deep holes tho! Don't mess up your car. - Right next to VTA for those people that take the Light Rail Disadvantages: - No restrooms - It gets really deserted at times and I've seen shattered glass before (thinking someone's car got broken into) - Not all trains go to Tamien so sometimes I do have to suck it up and drive to the DT station

There's never any parking on the other side of the train station (on Lick Ave, with the children's center), however, there is ample parking on the other side near the Hwy 87 entrance. Relatively easy trek to and from South Jose and like everyone mentioned, it's free! Saves me so much on gas when driving to Palo Alto. Make sure to always have a CalTrain Station Time Table to know exactly what train is arriving, departing and where it's potentially headed.
