First, a disclaimer: I am not a "tourist trap" kind of person. I don't usually go to these kinds of organized theme park things. But, on my last trip to Cancun, where hubby and I were doing so much snorkeling, it seemed like a fun thing to try. So glad we did...while there are certainly more uber-touristy things to do here, like the lighthouse waterslide, there was also a ton of more natural activities which is what we came for. The float down the river, the snorkeling in the lagoon, even the iguanas and other native fauna and flora were terrific. It helps that the food (and drinks...una mas cervesa, por favor!) were included. I didn't want to do the dolphin swim here because I really prefer Dolphin Discovery in Puerto Aventuras, but really there IS something here for everyone. For buffet food, the selection was excellent and again, there was something for every taste. Most of the offerings were quite fresh and replenished regularly. I think my only regret was not having accommodations along with the park because I would have come back for a second day. I know there are multi-day discounts but by the time we found this place, our vacation was winding down. I went to the water park Xe-Ha for 1 single day, all-inclusive of Xcaret. Fun, amazing, great staff. We arrived early, had breakfast and got settled in, got our lockers and equipment. We did the snorkeling and saw so many fish. Later, had a few drinks, yes, adult beverages!! And did the zip splash lines, jumped off a small cliff into the lake, walked 30 mins to the lazy river, saw cool little animals along the way, then hopped on the inner tubes down the lazy river, lake. Later, worked up an appetite, had a few more drinks and ate lunch at the international buffet style restaurant. The food was amazing for both breakfast and lunch. The staff is so pleasant and welcoming. Later, we went down the tall , twisting water slide. Got ready to leave, took a shower, towels provided, had a few more margaritas, lounged in the hammocks. This place is great. Next time into back to Mexico, I will try the other passes to experience the park. read more

The park itself is gorgeous. There's alot to do and everything you can imagine from swimming with the dolphins to using zip line bikes but what they don't advertise is that 60% of the stuff to do is locked behind additional fees for every activity. You can still get your money's worth doing the free activities but all the fun stuff you see in the commercials and posters is all extra charge and far from cheap ontop of the expensive entrance fee. The food was good and my family had fun. The one thing that I will not excuse is how rude the staff was come time for us to go home. We were told when departing the shuttle it was going to be a 5pm departure so get there early and get on the bus that was waiting because come 5pm the bus would be gone. My family arrived 10-15 minutes early to find a mob of people who were on our bus was no where to be seen. My family as well as the fellow PAYING CUSTOMERS who all vouched that we were told 5pm were dismissed as the staff said it was impossible that we would be getting on a bus at 5 and would have to wait a whole hour to get on the next bus. We talked to 5-6 different staff all huddled around the gate as well as the ones who just exited a departing shuttle that was identical to the one we got on to arrive at the place and all we got were shoulder shrugs as if to say oh well your on your own. My family traveled along way to enjoy this resort we could have gone to any other excursion but we chose Xe-Ha and after a wonderful say to be treated like this? On my mother's birthday no less is unacceptable. I would give 0 stars if I could because of how dismissive and rude the staff was. read more

We were very disappointed in our day trip to XCARET. We paid $145.00 usd per person for park and transportation from our resort. We bought the photo package right when entering the park for $100.00. Then as we go to attractions we realize most of the attractions cost extra money. The brochure does not mention extra fees. In fact it says all inclusive. The website says all inclusive. The attractions cost $25.00-$250.00 usd per person per attraction. Fish Therapy was $25.00 each. Snuba was $79.00 each person extra. Everything required extra money. 12 Attractions listed on a MAP AT THE PARK cost extra. They list the free actives as a bridge. A bridge?? REALLY? Cliff jumping is free. It was a joke. We basically swam all day which we could have done at our resort or in the ocean. The water also does not look like the photos online. It's dark, dirty with seaweed and smelt horrible. The XCARET shuttle transportation also took 5 hours round trip. Also this park is not for young children. Save your money. I do not recommend XCARET. They are shady with the extra prices. When I pay $245.00 usd to enter your park with photos it should include the attractions rooms. I'm attaching the brochures. Avoid this place. read more

Our day started very depressing with heavy rain. Little did I know what wonders awaited us at Xel-Ha. It was fun a day filled with lots of great activities. Don't let bad weather deter you from visiting this park. It rained probably 2-3X throughout the day but we didn't feel cold because it's warm despite the rain. This park has amazing views and obstacle challenges throughout the park. We walked a lot but there are alternatives to getting around if you don't want to walk. Make sure you have your water shoes and comfy swimwear. If you forgot a necessity, they have plenty of stores fully stocked. They provide you with towels throughout the day at your request, so you don't have to lug yours around from your hotel. Lockers are provided free of charge. Our visit here was one to remember and I highly recommend this excursion should you find yourself in Playa del Carmen or in the Cancun area. We got picked up from our meeting spot at 7:25 AM, I recommend a light breakfast before heading out. Meals and drinks are included with your ticket purchase but they don't start serving breakfast until 10:30 AM. We didn't have breakfast but lunch was great. There are many different food options, so everyone in your party will surely find their cup of tea. The food is really good and of high quality. Alcohol is also served and is included as well but I didn't partake so I can't provide a review of the options or quality. There is lots of fun for couples and families, there is something for everyone. I highly recommend you purchase the photo package. They charge you per person, for two people, we paid $69. At most obstacle courses, they have cameras, you scan your bracelets and the camera gives you about 5 seconds to pose. This is a great option to leave your cell phone behind in your locker. They also have a lot of photographers throughout the park willing to take your photos and they help you pose so that you have cool professional pics. Lol These pictures are included with the photo package. They have monitors located throughout the park which allows you to scan your bracelet to see all your pictures. I still took my phone in a waterproof pouch so I could take videos but I didn't really bother taking pictures. We hope to return someday again. read more

What an amazing natural wonder park!! I even considered going here twice in one week during our stay in Cancun! For $100 you have access to breakfast buffet, lunch buffet, alcoholic drinks included, water obstacle courses, lazy river floating, (small) cliff jumping, hammock lounges, cenotes and cave swimming, giant water slides, and much much more. You also have the option to purchase extras such as Zip Biking ($35 is a little too $$ for this experience, but still a great thing to try out,) swimming with dolphins, photo prints, etc. What do I wish I had known before coming here? PACK LIGHTLY. If you plan to take full advantage of the park, don't carry too much around with you. Water shoes, a comfortable bathing suit, apply sunscreen in advance, maybe a hat/sun glasses. There is a small locker provided to you to keep your personal belongings. You can go back to your locker at any time but I found it best not to be weighed down by anything other than the clothes on my back; I didn't carry my phone around but they have waterproof sleeves for purchase. Towels are provided but helps to have your own for the trip home. Long lines for bathroom/changing rooms at end of day. I also wish we had known all of our plans when we purchased the tickets. For example when you purchase your Xel-Há ticket they give you the option to purchase Xcaret for a 15% discount, but we didn't have our plans finalized by then and missed out on the discount. Also when your purchase the Zip-Bike ticket they offer a Picture Package discount, and we didn't know if we would be purchasing any photos at the end of the day, so we missed out on that discount as well. This is a great day trip while in the area. Plenty to do here from swimming with dolphins to snorkeling, tubing, cliff jumping and more. Watch signing up for to many scheduled activities. You find yourself in a time crunch trying to get from one side of lagoon to the other. It is best just to schedule one of any and then enjoy your day at your own pace. They have lockers that are included for your belongings and easy to get around with signs. Lots of fun in groups but easy to loose someone. This place was really cool. Very natural beauty. There were many events and activities to do. We arrived in the park about noon and did not have enough time in the day. We did the lazy river, zip line, snorkeled around, and ate at the buffet. It seems sort of disorganized though. We got snorkel gear without the breathing tube and were not sure where to get it. The lazy river had tubes we can sit on and it was very hard to be in with the water best on. It was easier to float in the river without it. We were not able to do the lighthouse which I really wanted to do. I heard there was a cenote to swim to but I could not find it. I did hear that there was one we had to pay extra to see? Not entirely sure. This place was cool to visit. It was expensive at about 260 for 2 people with food and drinks included. Speaking of food, it was great. Amazing tacos and all the guacamole you want. Fun to try it out if you have the time and are close. read more

It's an enormous, beautiful, natural water park and you could easily spend all day here. There's unlimited snorkeling, zip-lining, floating down the natural lazy river, eating, drinking, jumping off cliffs, relaxing and general exploring. Tips: 1. Get there when it opens. You'll need every second of time available to explore this giant place. 2. Wear water shoes. For the most part, the rocks in the water are fairly smooth, but honestly, as goofy as they might look, the shoes will come in very handy. 3. It's all you can eat and drink, all day, including beer and booze (hard alcohol). Skip the frozen drinks which didn't appear to have any alcohol in them and go for beer or mixed drinks if you want a buzz. But pace yourself, ok? 4. Get the photo package immediately after you enter. Yes, it's crazy expensive (around $79 or so) but it's simple to use, allows you to take unlimited pictures at designated locations all over the park, permits you to be camera free (which is great because you're in the water all the time), and you get excellent pictures you can later access and download via a link. 5. Bring organic/environmental-friendly sunscreen (and bugspray, if you want it). It's mandatory to use the less harmful stuff and you can avoid paying for it there. Plus, it's the right thing to do. I found the food to range from very average to very good. There are several restaurants and they all serve different items. There was always plenty of food available and the service everywhere was speedy and outstanding. And you'll be amazed at how many different food items are available to sample. It's not a cheap experience but it was extremely memorable. We all had a fantastic time. read more

This place is a must see. It's a huge park with lots to do and most of it is included with your admission. Of course there are a few things you can pay extra for and boy do you pay. We chose the dolphin experience. Arm and a leg for that and if you buy pictures you gotta give up your first born for that. It's an AMAZING experience and being so close to those creatures is a must. You can feel their power and witness their intelligence. This place is great for kids. The food is ok. There's caves, cenotes, bridges, lazy river, cliff jumping, wild animals (we saw what looked like an orange/brownish lemur) bikes, zip line and other little adventures. I couldn't give it five stars because we got caught in a darn hurricane today and there didn't seem to be any contingency plans in place for such wild weather. I had two small kids who were soaking wet and freezing. Trying to get them a towel was like pulling teeth. They were worried we would "take" the towel. Ummmm we just spent over $600 today and you are worried about us taking your $3 towel? Anyway we were cold, wet and miserable. THEN we got on our giant tour bus to go home. Again, soaking wet and cold. The bus is packed to the gills and everyone is wet and the air is blowing in there. Holy smokes talk about miserable. The driver also allowed some drunk turd on the bus only to have him vomiting on the bus. Well we can't open the windows because there is a hurricane that just made land fall!!!!! I could have gone postal, yall. It also took us THREE hours to drive back -usually 45 min drive. They had one lane open and did i mention there was a d@mn hurricane over us? Once we got passed the bottle neck the driver put the pedal to the medal! I felt like he was going 70 MPH in the pouring rain. I truly felt I was on Mr Toads Wild Ride and I white knuckled it. He outta drive for nascar, no lie. My advice? Bring a poncho if there is ANY chance it's gonna rain, pee before you board the bus and DONT allow drunks on your bus ride home. read more

Tips for your Trip: -- bring: bathing suit, WATER SHOES, waterproof phone case/bag, rash guard or swim shirt (if u are sunburned or get burned easily), reef-safe sunscreen (although not enforced, recommended to keep the place beautiful, available for purchase there), waterproof/underwater camera, maps are posted around but we brought a printed one which was helpful -- included: snorkeling equipment (bring your own if u prefer, I did), life jackets, food, drinks, towels, lockers(don't use the first ones u see, they are packed!), WiFi, Now for the review: Prices-- booked thru Carnival as an excursion for our August 2019 sailing & paid $156 (including transportation). At the park 4 & under get in free, 5-11 are 50% off. If over 4.5 ft, must show proof of age. Online prices at this time were $103 adult, +$27 transport- save 15% if booking 21 days in advance. Transportation-- took about 1.5 to 2h hrs total.... from the time they picked us up from the cruise terminal and got us into Xel-ha. The cruise website says the excursion lasts from ........ the park is open 8:30-6pm. We finally got into the first activity a little after 10:30 & we had to meet at 2:40. Not a lot of time for the money. Navigating the park-- park is O shaped & you can't cut across to get to other places. So pick a direction and stay going that way. Snorkeling-- great! Water is brackish (not crystal clear as they advertise) but still really enjoyable. Lazy river-- not so lazy if u are going to avoid the bushes but fun lol! Caves-- small. Still cool though Cenotes-- 2 in the park. NOT for swimming. Biking-- didn't experience d/t time Water slide-- underwhelming. Do it early to avoid the long waits. Cliff jumping-- didn't do d/t time ZIP line-- didn't do d/t time Food-- all u can eat. 4 restaurants on site. I like that the park is all inclusive style making it super simple to take care of admission, activities, and food/drinks with one purchase. You will have the option to pay for additional activities or photo packages. Some additional activities includes swimming with dolphins, underwater trekking, speed boat, etc. Try to book this a few days before you visit online to save money. It cost more when booking day of. For activities, make sure you start with the lazy river. No one tells you this and I'm unsure why. I wished I knew about this in the beginning instead of wasting time wandering around the park. Fantastic experience and a fun filled day. Wish we had another day! Loved the snorkeling options and variety of fish that we saw. Glad we braved the sightly insane but super fun huge waterslide! Get to the park early to make the most of your day. One of the greatest values, imho, is the all inclusive pricing for the park. Tons of activities without having to add expensive "upgrade" options. Including the bars and buffet restaurants. We loved that we didn't have to spend a fortune, carry a bunch of cash or cards, and could just enjoy the day and all the activities. The buffet food was actually amazing with a huge variety of fresh food at the International Buffet. We also bought the pro photo pack for 4 people - at $100 USD which I believe was a great value. There are plenty of self-portrait locations in awesome spots, as well as quite a few roaming photographers located around the park. Insider trick: Bring a few bottles of sunscreen. Unless your product is biodegradable, they will take your sunscreen at checkin and replace each bottle with an environmentally friendly packet sample. 1 pack won't be enough for the day... So bring a few bottles for more free packs. :) Your original sunscreen will be returned when you exit the park. Awesome water park that really caters to all ages! Very well-maintained and the waters are clean and overall just plain beautiful. The entrance ticket alone is already a really good all-inclusive deal. That includes food and drinks--food meaning buffet and drinks meaning including unlimited alcoholic drinks. ALL DAY. That alone in my opinion already breaks even with what you paid for at the entrance. On top of that, snorkeling equipment, locker use, and vests are also included; you would just need to scan your wristband to ensure accountability and hold you responsible for any lost items. In addition, there are already lots of activities to do in the park that don't require additional charges. For example, the scenic lighthouse slide is a really cool experience, especially with the top deck for a 360 view of Riviera Maya. You can also snorkel for however long you want at the snorkeling area. There is also the lazy river, which is pretty self-explanatory. If you just feel like relaxing and float on a tube with the current pulling you, that's the spot. Along the lazy river, there are fun activities as well such as cliff jumping, zip lining, and a few other "water jungle gym" type activities. Aside from those, you can also explore the areas with the grottos and cenotes. You may or may not run into iguanas and fish. If you want even more activities and are willing to pay extra, there are also lots of those available. My husband and I did the zip bike and sea trek, both of which we really liked. There are lots more you can do such as swimming with sting rays and more. The other thing we thought was a great deal was the photo package. I highly recommend buying it! There are cameras literally everywhere. All you have to do is scan your wristband. Really easy to do, and you can take unlimited photos to make it worth it! This helps you capture all the fun you want without you having to worry about using your phone or waterproof camera or whatever. What I loved most about the park is that it's small enough for you to be able to go through the park and make your time there worth it, but there are also more than enough activities for you to choose from and max out your day. read more

Great natural water park! I saw more fish here than I did in a lot of the cenote's! They have a deal right now where it is all you can eat and drink and activities for 90$. This waterpark is awesome!!! Your purchase of admission will give you access to one of the most beautiful places in the area, parking, and all you can eat (Mexican buffets) as well as drink (which includes alcoholic beverages). Free activities include snorkeling, zip lining into the water, floating down or on the river, cliff jumping, a few obstacle courses, and swimming. For those with younger children, there is a kids playground. And for those that like to tan or relax in the sun, there are lounge chairs throughout. The activities are not too daring; my children (ages 10-14) did everything. Going back to the buffets, they serve breakfast in the morning and switch to lunch at about 12:30. The food isn't fantastic but still very good; my husband, children, and I were very satisfied. The park is very clean, and the staff very friendly. During our stay in Cancun, we also visited another popular water park, and Xel-Há was our favorite, by far. The water is so clear, it's as if you're swimming in a giant pool. It's hard to believe you're in salt water. If you choose to snorkel, you'll see a ton of fish. Lockers are available to store your belongings, towels are provided and there are many shops to pick up items you may need (e.g. biodegradable sunscreen (they do not allow anything else), rash guards, sandals, waterproof phone cases (which you can use to completely submerge your phone), etc.), as well as souvenirs to take home. read more

This is a must see if you are in Mexico! Xel-ha is unlike any "theme park" that I have been to. This place is HUGE with so many different things to do. Xel-Ha is built within its natural surroundings and they have made the most of it. First, we started off with bikes on a scenic trail that brings you to the start of the lazy river to pick up our floating tubes. In the lazy you first start off under the mangroves, very cool experience. It then leads out onto a more open area part of the river that includes zip lining and the adventure park. Along the ride of the lazy river you will come across platforms to jump from. These platforms are high and is a fast plummet. There are many things to do here, I would recommend visiting the cenotes (caves) that they have in the park. It is truly breathtaking. The water slides are y'all and fast, it is a must. This place was so fun! I am not a good swimmer at ALL, so the fact that they provide life-jackets all over the place was one of the biggest selling points for me. The place is all-inclusive so all food, drinks, life jackets, and snorkel gear are included! But it's also like this huge natural playground. There were caves, bats, grottos, bays, rope swings, rivers, a lighthouse, walking trails...i'm happy I didn't try for the ruins/Xel-ha package, because you really need a full day for this park! Tip: We saw all over the Internet that they don't allow any non-biodegradable sunscreen in the park. Now I'm not asking you to not consider the eco-system, however, NO ONE IS CHECKING THIS. We failed to bring our own because we read they would provide little samples, but the samples are only if you GIVE THEM your own sunscreen to hold onto. Otherwise you just have to buy some from their gift shop, which we totally could have avoided doing if we'd just brought our own. There is no sunscreen police here. I found the buffet to be absolutely fine. Lots of variety and tasted great to me! Now I'm a warm-Caribbean-water lover and I will say the water here was NOT warm. We did the additional Sea Trek activity, which was AWESOME, but my boyfriend laughed as I spent 25 minutes beforehand trying to acclimate myself to the water temperature in the bay, praying I wouldn't have to cancel. Cold water is really HARD for me! It wasn't particularly hot enough for me to find it refreshing, but I forced my way in and was glad I did because when one of the divers brought over an ENORMOUS stingray, my eyes lit up. At first I was nervous the little space helmet would malfunction, as it's not "attached" to you in any sense. They just plunk it on your head as you're submerging and gravity does the rest, and if water starts to fill it, you just have to tilt your head upward to empty it. You can't hear much down there and the water was cloudy, but it was a great experience and we had the optional PhotoPass thing so the scuba guys got some great shots of us down there. I do recommend PhotoPass, even if you have an underwater camera (which we did) because their cameras do take some really nice photos at the designated points and get a good view of the scenery as well. We got into the park around 10am and still found we didn't get to do anything before we had to meet our bus at 5:45! I missed out on the mangroves of the river, pretty much the river in general, and simply swimming out in the huge bay! :( Highlights for me besides Sea Trek were the floating bridge, the grottos, and the caves! I visited on December 27th. The nature and water are beautiful. The kids really enjoyed the water. All you can eat and drink throughout the park is a plus. The food needs a little more taste but other than that enjoyed this place very much. read more

I came here yesterday because one of the locals told us that it's worth going to. It's an all inclusive park but it does not included swimming with the dolphins, zip bike and few other activities. They include the lockers, snorkel gear, towels and SPF 30 (chemical free) when you give your own sunscreen for hold. Food: Cheap drinks with the usual junk food. My favorite thing I ate there was their tacos at the buffet and their ice cream. Service: Okay but it can be better Activities: All the activities we did were really fun. We ended going on the slide, cave, zip line, snorkel, river ride and jumping from the cliff. Price: The reason why I'm giving them 3/5 stars is because they really try to rip you off when your a tourist. We paid $109 for entrance fee per person which included transportation. Our transport told us that it cost him around $25. When I looked online I found that for residents it's about $50. Regardless, when I come to another country I don't want to pay Disneyland prices at a water park in Cancun. We don't all grow a money tree in our backyard. Also, when it came to the price of the photos, each printed photo was $17. We had a coupon so it cost us $15. I think it's better to get the digital pictures for $58 at the park. I just hadn't taken enough cash with me so I couldn't get that. Overall, I recommend this place for everyone I just wish they would charge a bit less. At least include some free photos when the admission fee is expensive. Tip: take your own waterproof case. Bring insect repellent and your own chemical free sunscreen. They do provide the sunscreen but it's only 30SPF. read more

Honestly, we had no clue what we were getting ourselves into here but it was an amazing time! Cliff jumping, amazing views, an incredible lazy river, low key hiking, rope swing, unlimited snorkeling! Definitely worth checking out if you're in the state of Quintana Roo. I organized my sister's bachelorette here so much more fun than the typical activities most folks do. A lot of the things ppl have recommended to bring are spot on. Water shoes, rash guard (mostly to protect from suntan id you're like me and don't want to tan). A waterproof phone cover if you want to take photos yourself. They have a fantastic service where you can rid yourself of the stress of photos and have them do take the photos. There are cameras installed all over the park with picture photo backgrounds. All you have to do is scan your bracelet and smile! Definitely worthwhile if you're a big group. Comes up to 15-20$ per Person and you can take as many photos as you want. I was just there again on the 17th of February and they've gotten stricter with the sunblock policy. They check the ingredients and if not safe they take it away and give you the eco friendly sample. You can of course reclaim your sunblock upon exiting. I don't go into too much detail of all the activities but What I'll say is there's enough for you to do all day. We got there at open time 9am and had to leave for the bus at 550 and we had ample time to see and do everything. Even a walk to see the ocean view. We ate very well and drank very well. The Mexican restaurant is top notch. Anyone that says otherwise doesn't know what good food is. It's authentic Mexican cuisine! If you're looking for a one spot adventure place xel ha is definitely a go to! We paid 93$ usd which is the average price per person unless you're a big group. How does it place not have five stars? I dream about coming back here because I had such a good time! This place has everything you could possibly want and more! They even have an area where guests can just sleep in hammocks!!! Which amusement park has that? Genius!! The park offers ALL you can eat/drink - I thought the food was just okay in my opinion, but who cares about the food! Bicycling, zip-lining, lazy river, snorkeling, and more The Park was super organized with maps all around the park I would highly recommend purchasing the photo package because it'll take high quality pictures of you having fun! There is a locker room so you can place any important belongings in there! I was so sad to leave the park!!!!! read more

When a friend of mine first told me about these 'natural waterparks' in the Cancun/Playa del Carmen area I thought, "Meh, I'll check it out but doesn't sound that great." Boy was I wrong. We came here with a group of 10 and had sooooo much fun!! I wish I had looked at prices sooner because you can get an early bird discount if you buy far enough in advance. I also wish they offered group discounts but didn't see anything of that sort on the website. Xel-Hà far exceeded our expectations. We visited on a Friday and I was very happy to see that the park wasn't overly crowded which was my biggest fear in coming here. I also appreciated the free parking. Was it touristy and a gimmicky? Absolutely. Did we have fun like we were little kids playing in waterparks? Absolutely! I think we all enjoyed the zip lining the most. I expected the cliff jumping to be a little higher, but we all took turns taking the plunge and loved it. The slide was fun and the view from the top was the best in the park. The "fast" wasn't very fast so if you're wavering between which one to take just go for it. The free lockers, life vests, snorkeling gear, and tubes were also major bonuses! The food was unexpectedly better than I thought it would be. As was the service!! We went to the buffet twice and the food and alcohol flowed. Not even counting the water park experiences, our group probably got our $90 worth in just food and drink. We enjoyed lounging in the hammocks after a long day of activities. One thing that was a major buzzkill at the end of the day was related to the photos. Only one of our friends was interested in purchasing them and she scanned her bracelet throughout the entire day. When she got to the window to purchase what she thought was going to be about $60, they charged her for EVERYONE that was in the photos!!!! She really wanted them and ended up paying $160 because there were 10 of us in and out of them. So SO lame. Next time, we'll check out one of the other parks and skip the photo ops. read more

I enjoyed visiting here. Tons to do but can get boring after awhile. I got there at 8:30am and was basically done with everything by noon. Love the fact it was unlimited drinks and food. Huge selling point for me. Overall, had a really good experience here. They make you wear a mask everywhere you go, even on the ziplines. Very clean!! read more

Overall highly recommended for both adults & kids. I wish their website was more informative (tips added at the end of my review). The lazy river float & snorkeling arouns all the beautiful fish were our favorite activities. We walked on the path to get to the lazy river put-in, which was pretty & entirely covered by tree shade. The food at the Mexican buffet was really good - both the hot food & salad options were great. We didn't bother with the bar - the lines were too off putting. The parrots were beautiful & seemed to be content. The dolphins reminded us of our cats = treat-focused (but happy from what we could tell). We didn't visit the manatees - I read from someone's review that their enclosure was very small & didn't want to potentially see them suffering. The lighthouse with the crazy big slides was super fun. There are rope courses & zip lines. We didn't pay for any of the extras like snuba or the dolphin experience. We also didn't bother with the photo package. The park is really clean (bathrooms/lockerrooms included) considering how many people pass through there. The staff were super attentive in the food areas & really nice/helpful in the water areas. 1. Do not make a reservation thru a 3rd party. Book direct. 2. Do not pay for transport if you have the option to rent a car. They pick you up REALLY early, & then you're stuck on this huge bus for two hours while the drivers are driving around to all the hotels for other pick-ups. And then you are captive at the park until it closes. Our pick-up was scheduled at 7:20am (recommended that we get to the pick-up 15 minutes earlier) & then meet up for return was at 6pm. We (2 adults) were pretty much done with the park within 4 hours because it stormed heavily. 2a. I screwed up and didn't have my credit card with me (they want the credit card you paid for your ticket as proof), which you NEED to get onto the bus & into the park. My screw up, which ended up being a blessing (because who wants to be on a crowded bus for 2 hours during a pandemic?). We ended up borrowing a friend's car & drove on our own. We were grateful that we could leave once it started to rain heavily. The drive from Playa del Carmen is 45 minutes one-way without traffic. 3. Bring flip flops or water shoes/sandals. They sell both at the park, but we wore our flip flops & just stashed them on the side when we snorkelled & clipped them into our floatation jacket on the float. No need to buy anything special. 4. Bring a dry bag for cash to tip your servers & to keep your mask, hat, sunglasses dry while you're in the water. Bring extra masks to replace the ones that do get wet. 5. Get biodegradable sunblock to protect the reef & sea life (also available for purchase at their gift shop). We bought ours at one of the gazillion pharmacies in Playa del Carmen. 6. Eat a light breakfast before you go. The breakfast buffet doesn't open til 9:30 & that's where everyone goes first thing. It clears out after a while if you get your breakfast a bit later. 7. The park is easy to walk around but not as easy for folks in wheelchairs or use walkers/canes. It's level but the paths are made out of uneven brick. But it's not long/arduous for the average adult. We walked from the entrance to the lazy river put-in in about 15 minutes in flip flops. 8. There are different stations throughout the park with lockers, bathrooms, showers, etc. But each station offered different amenities (e.g., not all stations have snorkel gear). So you have to plan your stops depending on the activities. We kept our stuff in a locker at a station with a shower & towel service close to the entrance (they're all pretty close except for the green station) but we got our snorkels in different areas. But since your gear is locked away, it helps to have a dry bag for essentials you may need throughout the day. They sell the little pounches that you wear around your neck to carry your wallet, but it's not big enough for sunglasses or a hat. 9. You need to have a mask to access any of the snorkel gear so keep it with you at all times. Ours got wet, but I had extras in our locker. I'm sure they sell masks, but not at the amenity stations. 10. I drank the water in the food areas but didn't chance it from the many water fountains around the park. They have water bottle filling stations, too, but I didn't ask if it was filtered/OK for tourist tummies. I'm pretty sure the water they served at the restaurants is the same (& I didn't get sick), but I didn't ask any of the staff if the fountains were okay for tourists. Phew. SO INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL! The food was amazing at every restaurant, there was plenty of food and they kept replacing when anything for running low! The lines for anything are minimal even when the park seems to be full! Staff is nice and helpful, the park itself has plenty to do, there are extra activities that you can pay for but u honestly can go without them!
