I've been to a lot of concert venues over the years, but this was only my second visit to the Xfinity Theatre North Meadows. While it's not exactly close to home, it's an easy drive and getting to the venue was much simpler than I expected. Parking was well organized and getting in and out after the show was surprisingly easy. My only real complaint was the cost. Concert tickets are expensive enough these days and paying another $50 just to park felt excessive and without warning. There was nothing posted on the way in to expect this fee. One tip for future concertgoers: follow the venue's social media accounts before you arrive. We experienced a weather delay and their Instagram updates were the quickest and most helpful source of information. There were screens inside encouraging guests to check social media, but if you weren't already in your seat, you could have easily missed that message and been stuck in the storm! The venue itself was clean, there were plenty of food and beverage vendors and lines moved fairly well. Like most concert venues, concessions were expensive, but there was a good variety to choose from. Overall, we had a great time and would absolutely come back for the right show. Hopefully next time the parking prices are a little easier to swallow! read more

I've had negative experiences both times I've been to this venue. Performances have been phenomenal. The first time we came I was yelled at due being alone (going to the restroom) and not having a real ticket. I had a screenshot of the ticket from my fiancée. They require a physical ticket from EVERYONE! He second time we came we were prepared, we knew we both needed tickets and that was no problem, they seemed to have added a sign indicating this. Security in our area did mostly nothing. The 'guard' seemed to pick and choose who he wanted to speak with. Some people were allowed to block the aisle and some weren't. Our security guard later joined the pit. Security here does not wear name tags. So you can't identity who they are. We had several people vaping and who were in the aisle during the concert who were not spoken to, but when certain people did something it wasn't noticed. I just feel all concert growers should be treated the same and security should not be allowed to join the pit during shows. At one point he was in the pit and concert goers had their arms around him. This place is an absolute disaster. I have NEVER had such an experience at a concert before. We had hot spot tickets in addition to our seats. Doors were supposed to open at 5. Didn't open until 530 and we didn't get in until after 6. There was supposedly going to be "finger food" and you get a free drink. The entry process was an absolute mess. There was a small bin of fried rice and we basically paid 40 for our "free" beer because there was nothing else. False advertisement and a rip off. They didn't even open the rest of the venue until almost 630 and we couldn't even get onto the lawn until Almost 7. The show started late because of the incompetence of nearly every employee. They need some serious management restructuring and everyone here needs classes in customer service. Just horrible. If I could leave negative stars I would. read more

This place has been an absolute shit show the 2 recent times I've been. 1st time took almost 2 hours waiting in the line to get in, the 2nd time tonight at DMB show was over an hour. No rhyme or reason to the lines, no one directing crowds. Once we finally got inside the venue, we weren't allowed to access our seats for another 20 min (less than an hour before showtime). Security had half of the building blocked off during the concert so only option to get to a bathroom was to literally walk all the way around the venue, or use the porta pottys. This place is very big there's enough space for a lot of people to go to a huge concert. They have a bunch of different areas to get drinks and snacks. There are snacks along the whole lawn area. Who's also snacks inside the entrance to the bottom pit. And bathrooms inside there. There's also bathrooms outside that are pretty big but they need to restock the toilet paper more. It's a little bit pricey for the stuff that you buy there. Concert tickets very depending on the people performing. It's been around a long time and it's a good place to see a show if you choose the lawn seats it's definitely cheaper. You just can't bring anything in with you. I purchased two tickets to see Post Malone using the Ticketmaster website. I paid over $500 for two "reserved lawn" seats. This meant we would be in the lawn section, but the description read that we were guaranteed our spot and seats. I was not told that chair rentals were necessary, but the website was ambiguous, so I spent an additional $30 to rent the chairs. On the day of the event, I called and was told the chairs come with my tickets. We arrived at the area near the venue at approximately 7:45pm, greeted by gridlock and stop-dead congestion. Hartford police would not let us enter the area of the parking because it was "full"--I was in my sister's vehicle with a handicap permit (my sister has rheumatoid arthritis and has difficulty walking long distances when in a flareup). We had no choice but to attempt to find parking elsewhere. All of the venue lots were full, so we fell victim to a regular paid lot 1.5 miles from the entrance. After making the trek to park and walk uphill to the amphitheater, our tickets were scanned and we were told that the seats for us were "already there". We walked to the entrance to the actual amphitheater and I showed my ticket to an usher and he said, "You have to go back out and around the side of the building". I did so, only to see stairs that resembled the steep ones Rocky ran up. We climbed these stairs and immediately were bombarded with utter chaos. There was no room to stand or walk. Basically we were moved along by the pushing and shoving of the crowd. It was already dark out, there was no security visible and ZERO EMPLOYEES there to even help manage the crowd. No sense of organization. Why wouldn't you rope off sections to create "aisles" for people to walk through. Instead, it was bodies on top of bodies, drunk people throwing their cans all over, people puking, three fights broke out. Some young guy pushed my sister so hard that she got propelled forward into another bystander. I got to the bottom of the law and saw a few people sitting in a concrete section in folding chairs. I assumed this was the "reserved lawn". Nope. It was not. Another fight broke out (two young people fought with and KNOCKED OVER an older woman in one of those ride-on scooters. That's when I finally saw security. They were wearing black shirts. BLACK SHIRTS? Whose genius idea was it to have security wear all black in an outdoor theater with minimal light????? I asked one of them if this was the lawn section, and he pointed, "No it's over there". OVER THERE was somewhere amidst a huge pack of people, no visible aisle or safe space to even navigate, and at this point, I couldn't safely get my sister to the seats. We stood for 45 minutes, then decided it was safer to leave than stay. God only knows how bad getting out of there would be with so many people rushing to the exits. This place was one argument away from a stampede. Every time I tried to get help from someone, they sent me to talk to someone else--if I could even find an employee to speak with. Avoid this venue at all costs for the following: 1. Your ticket says a reserved seat guarantees you a spot, "no matter what time you arrive". That's a lie. Have fun battling unruly and unmanaged crowds to get to your seat. 2. Lack of visible staff. I kept looking around for someone to help us, but there was literally no employee in the lawn area except the concession stand selling beer. It felt like we were in steerage on the Titanic and no one cared about our safety. 3. Security is lacking. There was no order or mechanism to safeguard such a large amount of people. A free for all. 4. Their website says they are "ADA compliant", but there was no signage for an elevator, there was no ramp that wasn't steep, and when I told someone that my sister had RA and couldn't take all those stairs, he just shrugged his shoulders and said "that's the only way up there". Never, ever again. I filed a claim with my credit card company since I paid for seats I never got to sit in. Shame on you, Xfinity, for putting profit over safety. read more

Drove all the way from NYC to Hartford, Connecticut to see KISS at the Xfinity Theatre. Great concert. The theatre was large. It's actually outdoors but it has a roof. The only part that doesn't have a roof is the lawn. Something to be aware of if you are buying tickets. The theatre is small enough that you don't need to buy super expensive front-row tickets to see the artists. We were in section 500, row HH, and saw the artists just fine. There's plenty of food vendors outside of the theatre too. I would come back. read more

I hate doing this, the leaving bad reviews thing. If you look at my other reviews, they tend to be positive. This time I can't let my experience pass. Let's picture this together. You are at Wutang. You arrive late. You have a small black Fanny pack that has your wallet, insulin pen, needles for insulin pen, and your blood sugar tester kit. You are then told you can not bring said Fanny pack in and you ask if an exception can be made due to medical needs. They hand you a ziplock bag to put your belongings in. So you have to walk around a packed concert and hope you don't lose this bag. You finally get through security and notice.... So many bags. Big bags, small bags, tote bags, backpacks, and... you guessed it... Fanny packs. I asked the lady scanning our tickets, why I was I not able to bring in my small bag containing medical necessities and she said... maybe it was too big? Xfinity does have a no bag rule. Unless it is clear. They shout it from megaphones before you come in. My issue is, why is. Why were we not allowed to bring our bag in with medical supplies but two people ahead of us could bring their bag in. Here is the proof. So many bags. And when I asked for someone from management to explain to me why this occurred, why was this allowed to happen... NO ONE HAS REACHED Out. They do not care if they discriminate against someone who is diabetic. I will shout this experience from the roof top. This is horrible. Get it right. Do better. This proof isn't even just... oh they slipped through the cracks. Everywhere you turned you saw people with bags. How did the huge tote bag make it through but my black Fanny pack, smaller than each of these bags couldn't go. I'm just still so baffled. And I'm leaving this review five days later. read more

I've been to concerts for over 10 years now, and this is hands down the worst one I've ever been to. The arena was way oversold. There were many underage drinkers falling over and tripping over everyone, bumping into everyone to the point they were falling over, and having no awareness of space. It makes me wonder how all of these kids had access to alcohol during this show. Yes, kids are dumb and they pregame before shows, but this was way too much. I did not see one security member past the metal detectors at the very beginning when you are scanning your tickets, which made me feel very unsafe. The venue was like a giant mosh pit or a huge frat party that nobody has control over themselves because they drank way too much. It was to the point I related it to the mass atrocity of Astroworld, because at the end of the day, it is not the attendees fault, it is the venues fault for overselling tickets. It was so bad to the point people could have gotten trampled over and died, and nobody would've even noticed, and that really terrifies me. read more

There are better venues and there are worst venues. If I can I try to avoid seeing shows at "The Meadows" aka Xfinity. To start the bag policy is ridiculous. I had specifically went online to check the requirements and measurements and my clutch fit the required measurements and I was still told it was too big when going through security, meanwhile guys with cargo pants or shorts are just walking right in. No problem and clearly having stuff shoved in their pockets. I've used this same clutch at many other concert venues and never had a problem. The prices for food and drink are outrageous but roughly on par with the times. I wish they wouldn't charge so much for a bottle of water and maybe sell that for a more reasonable price or offer it free. It might help the whole outta control too drunk crowd they often have. I have learned that you can bring one free unopened bottle of water. Long lines for everything always. Also do they even card people here? I've seen people having some drinks and enjoying themselves at a concert before but it always seems like people are outta control drunk here. I will say it seems like they have a enough security staff. The audio and video is typically pretty decent. I have zero complaints there. I like the option to sit on the lawn or in seats but you do take a gamble if the weather is bad but that's the nature of the kind of facility. I have learned more recently you can bring in small foldable chair and/or blanket. Check ahead on the website to confirm before you go as some shows have different requirements. read more

I am at a loss for words. This venue had such promise. I've been to over 40 outdoor concert venues and this one by far is the worst one I've ever been to. It started with our arrival. Entry was difficult. Driving to the concert venue was awful which is not there fault but every parking lot was closed and that is. Had to park a mile away, then walked to the venue and waited almost an hour and a half to enter. Entrance to this venue is chaotic, people getting into fights, throwing things. No security in the crowd to manage that mess. When we entered the venue and got to the lawn area, not only does the lawn area suck, it was over sold. Nowhere to go to hear the concert. There are no speakers in the lawn area to hear the artist perform. With all the people talking, you heard conversations, but the music could not be heard. They say 22,500 people could see a show there and I assure you, there was much more than that. It was irresponsible and wreckless of this venue to charge what they do for an absolutely poor venue. If I was Xfinity, you should really invest in making this an attraction that people can enjoy and feel safe at. It lacks security, lacks access, lacks sound. I will not ever travel to this venue for another show. This is the absolute worst venue I have been to whether outdoors or indoors and that's pretty bad. Jason Aldean should be ashamed of this venue and that doesn't even include him leaving the stage during his performance. I get things happen, but I paid a lot of money to travel and attend this event. If I had to number rate it, 0/100. It was that bad. read more

I have been to A LOT of concerts over the years. This may be one of the most disappointing venues I've ever been to. We paid an extra $20 for EZ Out parking and once we got there it made total sense why it was classified as such. By the time you walk all the way back to your car all the other parking lots will have cleared out and it will make exiting easy at that point. We paid another $10 for a fast lane check in so avoid lines and no one working there even knew what it was. Money totally wasted. The drinks and food are RIDICULOUSLY priced. $16 for a CAN OF BEER? $20 for a lemonade with vodka. $9 for a handful of tater tots with a tablespoon of cold cheese on it. My fiancé bought an $11 hot dog and he HAD to purchase a specialty hot dog with chili and a slice of American cheese on it. There was no option to just get a plain hot dog and put ketchup, mustard and/or relish on it. We paid $6 for a soft pretzel and couldn't get cheese sauce or mustard for it (the employee selling it said they used to offer it but no longer do). My fiancé witnessed another concert go-er wait 20 min for tater tots with chili and cheese on them. When she finally got them she asked for utensils and they said they didn't have any. When she asked how she was supposed to eat it they told her they don't have any and she should go to the Baskin Robbins booth and see if she could try and grab a spoon from them. WTF?!?? The venue rules say there's no smoking, no chairs for lawn seats which are over 9 inches tall and bags that are are a certain size (something like 12 inches x 12 inches) are not allowed in. I was told by an employee that I would have to leave my purse in the car because it was too large (it was a normal sized over the shoulder purse that's just over 12 inches tall). We also left our chairs at home because they were regular camping chairs, not the low beach kind that the venue says are the only ones allowed. When we got to our lawn seats we were surrounded by people in regular camping chairs, quite a few people smoking pot and we also saw several people carrying large tote bags. I don't care about any of these things. What I do care about is having rules if you aren't going on to enforce them for everyone. It's unfair to the people who make it a point to follow the rules or have the rules enforced on them when others don't. I give the Xfinity Theatre in Hartford two stars tops and that's only because I thought the grounds were pretty clean and the concert's sound quality was decent (we saw Alanis Morissette and Garbage). I don't think I'll ever buy concert tickets for an event at this location ever again. read more

No supervision at the end of the show for exiting cars. I recommend that if the show you want to see is somehwere else you should go there!! Tim M., Jennifer S., and I came here for the Oddball Festival 2015, not knowing what to expect. Xfinity 101 - Kind of a mini street fair inside, with footlong hot dogs (best deal), delicious fried Oreo's, over-priced everything (e.g., $18 mega pretzel), lots of beer, and excellent people watching. We opted for the covered amphitheater tickets, which ended up being a good call since it started to pour near the end of the show and main acts. But the lawn area has a much different vibe and is apparently 3x the size of the covered seating area. Parking is crazy, yes. We did go for VIP parking, which was $35 on this specific night, but it made leaving after the show a bit less of a hassle. (Though there are still some crazy drivers, so be careful.) If I did it again, I'd definitely do one of the other lots that is a bit of a walk from the theater, at least to avoid the crowds and pay less. I would definitely opt for bringing my own food next time, which you can do as long as it's in clear plastic bags. Interesting experience. It'd have to take a big, meaningful act coming to this stage for me to go again, though, given the overall price and hassle. Just be prepared and craziness. read more

I've only seen Pentatonix there, and considering the speed tickets were put on Groupon perhaps it was not fully representative of what a crowd looks like. But still, if you're meeting people carpool instead. Parking is limited in the Theatre lot, but there a a lot of pop-up parking areas for about $20 a car on the way there. The severity of the walk will largely depend on the severity of the weather. Police do a wonderful job of keeping traffic moving and getting people safely across the street as needed. The interior of the Theatre reminds me of a miniature Big E. A lot of walk-up booths for food, souvenirs, and alcoholic drinks. I didn't get close enough to see pricing, but if you bring an empty water bottle, there is a fill station. We saw the show on the picnic area, and it was pretty nice. The show was in August, and there was no protective cover so luckily it didn't rain. There is a cover over the seated area, and supposedly (I have heard but not seen) there is a cover over the picnic area for the winter. You can see the stage, although the performers look rather tiny, and the view is supplemented by large monitors for close-up shots. read more

With all the money Live Nation/ Ticketmaster has and the crazy ticket prices, there is zero reason why this place is so disgusting and poorly staffed. I've literally been to dozens of Live Nation venues. This one is hands down the worst. The grass area is a full on toga party. They don't need security, they need military support. Parking is a complete joke. I have a handicap permit for my wife who can not walk and distances. They could care less. Got the old the lot is full, keep moving. Service by some was friendly and great, others just plain rude and disrespectful, especially security. Food was a total rip off for next to nothing but cold, cooked hours ago options. As of July 2019 at least they have made improvements. The underage drinking is being worked on and seemed a lot better. They made more rules and hired more police undercovers. I've been here over 20 times and can understand why they've gotten bad reviews. Parking is free and adjacent to the venue itself. Get there a hour or so before show . They will send emails out when lot opens and gate. Alot of pre-gaming happens here. The venue itself is pretty good. They have a few food trucks and they have a building where you could go and in order food or snacks & plenty of adult beverages ($16- $22). I recommend that you get the soda with free refills it's hot in the summer & they do fill with filtered water or bring a empty 16oz water bottle to fill at stations there . Their bathrooms are clean and are inside the building & they have porta-potties outside closer to the stage area. Let's discuss the Lawn Ticket !! Just be aware that thou it may be cheaper I would go with the section 800 seating which is 5 bucks more . The lawn is tough for some alot of drinking and throwing bottles(beer or water ) and the crowd can get rowdy (pre-gaming in lot ) . I was there 4 times before I learned. Just my opinion, but some concerts are calmer ,lol. Recommend leaving 5 min before show looks like it's ending to get out of that lot fast because it can be a nightmare !!!! read more

I don't think I've ever been so disappointed leaving a concert. Firstly, you have to walk about 2 miles to the venue, due to Hartford police closing down the roads (not XFINITYS fault.) but the venue itself is so horrible. Secondly, no one cards anyone at this venue! It was all drunk teenagers, who were vomiting throughout the show. It's actually shameful to see so many children with alcohol poisoning. It was also extremely packed. Absolutely will never return to this place again. It's a dump. read more

Seen three different concerts here, One Republic, Paramore and Logic, each of them drawing in different crowds. All of them were enjoyed watching them on the screens in the lawn where space is cheap and the experience is a little bit freeing than a cramped chair. There are a lot of vendors here with a couple of unique local vendors trying to sell their foods. We grabbed typical concert food, burger, hot dog and chips with a soda but now they decided to be environmentally friendly and stay away from straws which I appreciate but I would still suggest keeping the lids as grass and dirt don't mix well. Getting in and out isn't that bad as long as you know how to navigate the crowd well. BRING LAWN CHAIRS OR A COUPLE OF BLANKETS as it can get cold in the lawn even on summer days, plus it makes it a more comfortable setting. Which does kill me is the debauchery that takes place in the lawn, a very lawless land. Even with security walking the pavement, you'll find people smoking and drinking which hinders other experience as they enjoy the concert but part of that is the crowd that is drawn to see the performer. A nice local place to see some big names without breaking the bank. Oh either get there really early to get free parking or be prepared to sit in traffic and struggle to get a good rate for a paid spot. Be prepared for traffic leaving too. Good luck! read more

We paid $750 for 3 Dead and Co tickets. We went in to the theater early, 6:30 for an 8pm show. They had 1 security line. The line had 2,000+ people in it! No other security lines were opened. It took us 1.5 hours of standing in the rain to get in! Terrible management that craps on it's customers. The parking lot has baseball sized rocks and chunks of asphalt. I watched many people trip and smash their toes. I've been to concerts all over the US. Hartford Xfinity is among the absolute worst. AVOID AT CALL COST! I like that the theatre has a grassy area so you can mellow out. What I didn't like is the astronomical prices on food & drink. They'd probably sell about 4 times as much product if they just dropped the prices a little bit. Half the fun of some concerts is having a few drinks. At $14 or more for a crappy beer I won't be back anytime soon to this venue. The camera person for the stage was terrible so if you're not right on top of the stage you can't see much. What a wonderful concert venue! This was my first visit. I couldn't believe all of the food and drink options available. Inside the amphitheater, there's not a bad seat in the house. I haven't been to this venue for probably over a decade but tonight it was SOLID. There are so many bad reviews of this place on Yelp and elsewhere and to be honest I was not looking forward to going to this venue based on the terrible recent reviews. Here's my story: We were going to UBER to the venue from my home in West Hartford but one of our friends said he'd drive. We were able to park FOR FREE in the lot at the venue and easily walk in with our blanket, no pat downs. There's a LOT of tailgating in the free lot but I believe it is not technically permitted. No one was jerky or douchey while tailgating and that was nice. In the time that it's been since I've visited this venue quite a bit has changed for the better. First off they have a boatload of beer and locations to get it. It's expensive but the sizes are kind of huge. I first bought a draft pint of a local low ABV IPA for $16 followed up by several cans of another low ABV IPA (also $16 but over 19oz). I was super excited that they have at least one food truck yet the line for this one (a grilled cheese truck) was quite long. We ended up with a burger and a hot dog (they ran out of chili?) for about $30. I was delighted to see that there were plenty of clean bathroom facilities available. There was a ton of "women only" portapotties too. I can only speak for the early evening but everything was quite clean when I needed to "go". I can't tell you that the traffic is awful getting out because we only stayed for one of two bands so we jetting back to my house earlier than 10pm, traffic free. read more

I've never seen a concert in a logistical nightmare before, so coming to the Comcast Center gave me a nice first. The venue simply has too high of a capacity for the amount of parking available. As such, satellite garages up to 2 miles away fill up and countless thousands have to travel in large packs to get to the front gate. If you don't leave early, you will be stuck in a nightmarish mix of emptying urban parking structures and drunken pedestrians. The stage itself is fine, with five large projection screens built into the roof, and because of the large prison-like walls the ring the grassy bowl of the lawn, the accoustics aren't bad. Still, with other outdoor venues located an hour or two from this one, with abundant parking near the gates, I don't know why you'd trek to Hartford. read more

It's been several years since I have been to a concert at the Comcast Theatre. To give you a time frame, the last time I was there when it was still called "The Meadows". However we recently went to see Dave Matthews Band - one of the most popular concerts that this venue hosts. The other reviews pretty much have summed up my thoughts on this outdoor performing arts venue. In short - *Parking - One word Nightmare! We got there about one hour prior to the show starting and we could not even get close to the Theatre and park in the lot. We were lucky to find a lot but had to trek about a half mile to the show. The only plus was that it was free (not sure how that happened) and by the time we got back to the car, most of the other concert goers had left. Note to others - get there early! * Lawn is a good option IF and only IF you don't mind random people walking past you every five minutes. The lawn was fun when I was in my early 20's but it's not so fun when you have to deal with drunk teenagers who don't know what is going on. However, if you can get past this it's a great option though for a hot summer night - just lay back, close your eyes and let the music envelope you. There are also plenty of video screens so that you have a good view of the performers. However, if you have the unfortunate opportunity to have lawn seats during or just after a tropical storm be prepared to get muddy! *My preference now that I am a bit older is to purchase seats. An upside of reserved seating is that they are assigned and you are protected from the elements. Sound quality is pretty good as well. The downside is that if you purchase seats farther from the stage and/or away from the center of the venue you might have a hard time seeing the performers as the screen in located in the middle of the pavilion. *Food and beverage options - MEH!. Standard concession and beverage fare. No Vegetarian Options (unless you consider French fries and pretzels and option). Beers are of the domestic variety ($12 FOR 24oz can) and they do have some wine and frozen drink options Summer time is a great time to enjoy the outdoors, unfortunately with other options in the area, the Comcast Theatre would not be my first choice. read more
