This place gets the job done but it's not a standout in my eyes. It seems as though it is not very well stocked due to its being a food truck concept. We ordered the fish and chips and SB smash burger. Honestly, they were pretty disappointing. SB Smash Burger 3/10: The burger was nothing special and didn't even have tomatoes (a standard burger topping in my eyes). It was a whopping 22 DOLLARS! A bit crazy for a totally average burger and some fries in my mind. They didn't even remember to give us any ketchup and we had to go up to the truck and ask for them. The fries were good though and pleasantly crispy. Fish and Chips 2/10: This one had potential but it fell short! At first bite, the batter was pleasantly crispy and the fish was super soft and tender. But, not five minutes later, the bottom of the fish was soggy! The batter was also a bit bitter. (we suspect maybe the beer batter?) If the batter was less bitter and a bit more crispy, we'd give this a much better score. The service at this little spot was honestly not too good. We had to keep asking for things and they didn't even have utensils or napkins readily available. Furthermore, we asked for an extra tar tar sauce (we had three people and they gave us a half filled container of sauce). The person behind the counter said that they were running low on sauce and weren't giving out any more! Seeing as though the original cup of sauce wasn't even filled all the way, it was a bit disappointing. Overall, I don't think i'll come back. Even though the area is super cute and comfortable, the disappointing food and service is reason enough to find a different lunch spot. read more

The lunch fish tacos at the food truck are delicious! Highly recommend! Flavorful and filling. I also tried my friend's fried Chicken Sandwich and it was very good. Disappointing. We stayed at Zachari Dunes hotel for over a week and I was excited to try this food truck concept, ordering on two separate days from them. The first time I went, I was hangry. I ordered a shrimp skewers. Service was quick and I later realized why. The shrimp were not fully cooked. Still veiny and grayish in color on the inside and slimy. I shoved a whole piece in my mouth before realizing. GAG. I went and cut the other pieces and it was oozing pink juice and saw that under all those herbs and sauce, the actual shrimp was raw. I prayed I wouldn't get food poisoning from that piece I already chowed down on (I was hangry). I went right back and let them know, they apologized and made a new order for me, of course this time it was over cooked as the shrimp had a hard time coming off the wooden skewer. Nevertheless, I was grateful for cooked shrimp. On another day, my second experience with them, I ordered some fish and chips. The service was short and not friendly. I was quick to pay and waited on the side for my order. It came out, with no sauces or utensils. I went back to ask for sauce, forgetting to ask for utensils/napkin, the chef seemed bothered I was asking for my missing sauce, so I didn't bother returning to ask for utensils or a napkin. The fish batter was poorly done, just some white fish, with thick batter that overwhelms the whole meal, parts of the fried batter was soggy too. The fries were decent I guess. Not the best experience overall, don't really recommend this place. Food service is way better by the pool or at Ox & Ocean (they also do to go orders). read more

I had high hopes for Sugar Beats, but two mornings in a row of disappointment ruined it for me. It is a cute little spot right on the property of the Zachari Dunes resort, set up like a permanent food truck. I was excited because it was right down the stairs from our room and I dreamed of going down for a specialty coffee and yummy breakfast each morning. Unfortunately morning one, they only had drip coffee and water for drink options. I settled for the drip coffee, and also ordered Nutella French Toast and a Breakfast Burrito for my children, and a donut for myself. To be honest, the donut was better than the meals, both of which I sampled. And thank goodness the on-site restaurant Ox and Ocean offered specialty coffees to go, because the second morning, I gave Sugar Beats another try, and still, nothing but drip coffee. The third morning I didn't even bother, but I glanced at the menu and there were so many items taped over on the menu that were not being offered. I realize this time of year (December/January) is slow as far as hotel guests but...... The staff however were very sweet when taking orders. I would not be against trying again if I stay at the resort in the future, but Sugar Beats wouldn't be a first choice. read more

My family and I are staying at the resort, came to sugar beats for breakfast. Paid $14 per burrito, $6 for a cappuccino and $4 for regular coffee. The cashier got our order wrong and continued to make mistakes. We ended up eating cold burritos as it took them 20 minutes to find tortillas to make the last portion of the order. And somehow the cashier thought it was funny she was unable to locate tortillas but had found milk. The ambiance is great as the Sugar Beats is within the resort. Breakfast: 6:30 am - 12:00 pm Lunch: Friday - Sunday | 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm Dinner: Friday and Saturday | 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm Food and service were good! I love the Ahi Tuna Wrap!!! The restaurant is open to the public. The hotel is close to the beach so maybe that's nice to walk on the beach after breakfast or lunch. There is valet parking/self parking for the hotel. Nice selection of foods and easy an easy breakfast location for those guests staying at the Zachary dunes resort. We biked over for a light dinner on a Taco Tuesday. Very nice setting-trees, tables of different sizes, etc. Just a few other patrons. Very simple menu--3 choices of meat(oxtail, pork or chicken), a taco for $5 or a tiny quesadilla for $8. A convenient condiment station is set up outside. A few craft beers for $5 (a pretty good deal considering how overpriced their food is). The oxtail tiny Quesadilla was tiny, good quality meat--bland but the toppings at the station made it tasty. I'm glad I wasn't that hungry--if so I could probably easily spend $40 on tacos with their prices. Also, don't sit close to the food trailer unless you want to learn all about the life problems of the two girls working in the trailer as they constantly chatered at a high level. We live next door so we spend a lot of time here with friends and family, we had dinner there last night and drinks by the fire pits and this morning had brunch, the waitress was so nasty rude to me because I asked for a refill on my husbands coffee as he got up to use the restroom, the waitress thought I was trying to get a free cup of coffee and was worried they were going to give out a free cup of coffee, she circled around the table waiting to see if my husband was coming back to the table, she saw me taking a drink of his coffee and ran over to me and said she needed to charge me for it, my husband returned to the table and we were leaving and she grabbed the coffee out of my hands and said I have to take the coffee or charge you for the coffee. She asked if I wanted to speak to the manager and I said yes, I told the manager what happened and she said I'm sorry our prices are so high! Yes the prices are very high but that wasn't the issue, We spent 500 on dinner 100 on drinks and 300 for breakfast And the issue was over a coffee refill. Unless you're staying at the hotel there's a lot of better and more affordable coffee shops in the area. The wait times are pretty long and there isn't parking if you're not a hotel guest. The workers also laughed at a few people asking to validate parking which was kind of rude. Wait times are long, and it's pretty expensive. Over $50 for 2 coffees and a couple of food items but it's located on the hotel grounds which I'm assuming is the reason for the price. Not worth it for locals but could be a good spot for visitors or hotel guests. read more

The ahi lettuce wrap portions were tiny as well. They should close this joint until they figure out how to provide better quality food. First off I have to say the food is delicious. I had the Jersey breakfast sandwich three times while I was there. It's so good! But the coffee was so incredibly bad that I had to knock off two stars. I ordered a vanilla latte. What I got was not a vanilla latte. It was water flavored coffee with cheap vanilla creamer in it. It tasted more like creamer than anything else. It was basically undrinkable. I threw it out. Order the food, but get your coffee somewhere else. Honestly, I think the coffee maker in the hotel room could have made better coffee. read more
