Wonderful food and great service. We are from Las Vegas and did a 12.5 hour off road jeep trip through the mountains and Death Valley and ended up in Ridgecrest. I was concerned because I am vegan and found this place that had lots of options. I went with the sesame tofu as the waitress recommended it. I also got some fried tofu to go for our long journey back the following day. My finance got the chicken pad thai and we both had awesome portion sizes and place seemed to be very popular. Everyone was kind, ambiance was clean and welcoming. They had a bar, sushi bar and plenty of seating. They had "veggie meat", several tofu dishes, edamame, carrot salad, noodle dishes and also oil free options! I went there for a friend's birthday. She is vegan so naturally, they had lots of options for her! The staff were so accommodating, friendly, and very helpful when it came to making recommendations based on our taste! The space has a very cute and intimate setting, not too low lit, but just the right amount of it! The food was amazing, so tasty, not too over seasoned, drinks were refreshing and delicious! The staff also came out and gave the birthday a birthday card where they all signed it and left beautiful messages! Very thoughtful and they really went the extra mile without asking. We also received a few shots of tequila (mixed drinks), but still we were not expecting all of that. She also received a little bag of mini cookies! Well went in at 1130 on a friday. Was busy so i waited at 12 i was finally able to place my lunch order. Got singapore noodles and fried rice. Got charged dinner prices which was SO wrong! Then only had lunch amount of shrimp not dinner. You guys just lost a good customer! And your girl in the front saw me wait and let people in front of me that were eating there. Chicken pad Thai just ok. Lots of chicken but it's all cut in different ways like skinny strips then bigger pieces, not many scrambled eggs. Noodles galore not much sauce which makes it gummy. The best around. Literally. And.. Well, I know this is a small desolate town and there aren't too many options but THIS place has it all. I live two hours from here and I make this my number one dining spot every time. I am allergic to shellfish and have never had an issue here. The rice -AMAZING. The noodles - AMAZING. And the food has always been fresh. Wonton soup is one of my favorites. I love the bar area and the staff. Soju sneaks up on you, drunker beware. But so so delicious. The staff is and has been stellar for years. Most of them have been here as long as I have been coming (since 2012). My wife and I have visited all the Asian restaurants in Ridgecrest. Their food is excellent, offering a variety of Asian dishes, from sushi to bang-bang shrimp and more. It was refreshing to hear that they have piped-in music, a sushi bar, and very polite and helpful waitresses. As for the ambiance, I have to say it feels like being in a four-star restaurant. If you ever want the best Asian food experience in Ridgecrest, this is the place. I highly recommend it. Just a note: Ask to be seated in Hanna's section for the best waitress in all of Ridgecrest. Solid Chinese food in Ridgecrest. We were tired after driving to and from Death Valley National Park, and Xin Bowl was exactly what we needed. We ordered drunken noodles with chicken (my fave), orange two types (beef and chicken), and Mongolian shrimp and beef (the blandest of the lot). The last two were served with rice. We also ordered a kids meal with fried shrimp and chicken nuggets, which was enjoyed by our little one. Total came to ~$65 and service was friendly. I came here on a Wednesday for lunch and the restaurant was not too packed. I heard that this place had good sushi for the area so I decided to try it out. We ordered the Fire Cracker Roll, Baked Lobster Roll, and the Baked Mediterranean Green Mussels to share. The Fire Cracker Roll came out first and it was decent. The rice on the sushi roll did not seem as fresh and fell apart easily. The mussels and the Baked Lobster Roll came out shortly after. The rice on the Baked Lobster Roll was the same as the Fire Cracker Roll. Both rolls were average but the Fire Cracker Roll was better than the Baked Lobster Roll. The mussels were pretty tasty and I would definitely order that again. The service was not the greatest as mentioned in the other reviews. I did not expect superior service, but minimal service would have been nice. I felt bad when I had to ask another server TWICE to get a refill on my soda. It would also be nice to see if your customers needed anything else before offering the check. I would probably come back to try the other menu items. I feel like service can be improved, but that takes time and training. I was lucky to be able to dine in since the pandemic! read more

Just mismanaged. Four "hosts" tell us they'll seat us in 5 minutes (takes 15). Our "server" doesn't know what's in the sushi rolls or what Jack Daniels or Dewar's is (seriously.). Our second server brings me a Dewar's and soda that's Dewar's and water but I don't feel like waiting another 30 minutes so I drink it. Edamame is cold, no flavor, no salt. Seaweed salad is good but probably straight out of a bag, so ... no bonus points. The tuna in the tuna roll smells like the floor of a bait shop in Lake Isabella. Seriously. Eaten at 100 sushi places around the world and nowhere have I smelled this. Took nearly 2 hours start to finish to have a basic meal and it was $100 for three of us (and one didn't have anything other than water). The place is like a Keystone Kops movie. There's plenty of staff but they're all running around like chickens with their heads cut off. They need: 1. Restaurant management 2. Server training 3. An actual sushi chef More proof that the ONLY fine dining in RC is at Mon Reve. read more

Ok first off I want to say I'm originally from Ridgecrest and when I come into town I love that there a new restaurant choices and I will always support them BUT I met my niece here the other day and I ordered Thai basil chicken and a spicy tuna roll bento box and first off it wasn't Thai basil it was mushrooms and chicken in like a beef and broccoli sauce which whatever I wasn't going to complain cause it still looked good. I took a bite and it tasted off so I moved on to the sushi roll and it was very fishy then my rice was hard like it had been sitting out too long. So later that night my stomach started to hurt and well let's just say it was not a pleasant night. I do not expect super fresh sushi and stuff in the middle of the desert but I live in Vegas now and I get great sushi in the desert. Now makes me wonder how long they push to keep their seafood and fish. read more

Reading the reviews, I was kinda scared because some said it wasn't authentic, bad service, etc. So I wanted to see for myself lol. This is what we ordered: Shrimp salad (sushi) This was good, it's shrimp and seaweed salad wrapped in cucumber. The sauce added a bit of spice to it. Refreshing in a way. Singapore rice noodle The shrimp had a good grilled taste to it. Beef was a bland but not dry. Noodles were tasty at first but got a bit salty. Xin bowl fried rice Malabasil seafood no spicy It was originally a spicy dish but our waitress said we could have it mild. The dish consisted of shrimp, zucchini, tiny corn, pepper, broccoli, onions and a brown sauce. It was still kinda spicy though. (Forgot to take pic) Mongolian delight It had beef and chicken with onions, too salty for me. I had to use the white rice to balance the flavor. Terrific service, very caring to please us. My visiting family three adults and four children 10-6 arrived about 30 minutes before closing. We were so pleased the smiling staff were able to serve us quickly and efficiently. They had very tasty sushi, shrimp, calamari, the kids had kids meal chicken, I had broccoli beef. This restaurant is probably at the bottom 5 of all Asian restaurants I've tried so far. The interior is very outdated, with their booth seats placed very close to the table. It is as if they didn't care about upgrading anything from the previous establishments. Some of the staff appear very disheveled. Some locals seem to hang around here often, and they are very loud and casual around the waitresses. The food, I must say, is definitely subpar. The batter of their fried food is so doughy that I cannot ingest it. Their sushi is tasteless, though their Dynamite roll was better than the rest. The Chinese entrees are very traditional but not standard in quality. I am very surprised with some of the positive reviews on this page...are they eating the same thing I am? Perhaps if you don't eat as Asian food as I have, maybe you cannot tell the difference. But, coming from me, I was deeply disappointed with the meal. I regretted coming here. read more

Called at 9 pm thinking they are open till 10 pm to order a quick late dinner. Found out they were operating under modified hours and they actually closed at 9! (Posted on Google but not on Yelp as yet). That being said the person on the phone still took my order and asked I come within 10 minutes as they were closing from (thank goodness as there weren't many options at that time and we were hungry!). We ordered garlic tofu with veggies (came with steamed rice) and a cup of hot and sour soup. The portions were sizable and so reasonably priced! The food was delicious with the soup perfectly spiced and the tofu well flavored with a variety of veggies. This might be the best place to eat in Ridgecrest. The place is cute inside - lots of customers. The first thing we noticed was that the place smelled good - like you could smell the quality of food. I ordered the lettuce wraps with tofu (probably the best version of this I have ever had). My husband and uncle ordered the firecracker sushi and some other chicken dish. Everyone loved their selection. The ingredients were fresh, service was top notch, place was super clean. Food came fast - food next to us on other tables looked amazing. We were recommended by a contractor who said it was the cleanest restaurant in town - I'm so glad we gave it a try. It's seriously delicious. We will be back. If you're passing through, traveling to the base, etc - this place is definitely a great choice in Ridgecrest. In fact, driving back home to LA, we said if it was located here... we'd eat there all the time! Bill came out to about $70 for three people (one had a large beer). Usually my husband is like $70! We had driven past this restaurant for months. I'd been wanting to try it but didn't make it happen until Today. The servers were friendly and prompt. The restaurant is fairly new and very clean. The booths are comfortable. They have a full bar. It was terrific because I wanted sushi and my husband wanted Chinese - we got both! The menu is extensive and varied. The restaurant is not well maintained, the sushi was not fresh specifically the California roll and the nigiri fish roe pieces. The soy sauce bottles were dirty and unkept in addition to a female restroom that needed some maintaining. The female bathroom stalls need to be replaced as it has inadequate room between the stall walls and the toilet making it uncomfortable to use. Not mention that the overhead light in the smallest of the two stalls was out. The restaurant definitely needs a makeover. read more

Tried the orange chicken/beef combo and one of their sushi rolls. Ended up throwing about 75% of the food away as I just couldn't enjoy it. The beef was diced into in huge chunks (rather than the usual flattened beef for this dish), not bite-size pieces. Come on. Even worse, the beef tasted bad, like it had started to spoil before they cooked it. Old beef? In any case, both the beef and chicken were over-breaded. Likewise, the sushi roll was enormous in diameter, almost twice the typical size because they packed it with an ungodly amount of imitation crab paste and then rolled it in too much rice. The taste of the tiny bit of eel on top was absolutely drowned out by all the filler. Tossed it after a dozen bites. Never going back. I've had a lot of good sushi in my life, and this ain't it. read more

I am so upset that I had to write this post before I could eat after being on an intermittent fast because I am so angry. I called in my lunch order for pick-up today at 12:15pm. I had ordered 3 items, and she asked me if I want a "whole order" and I say yes because I want the item I'm seeing for their lunch menu and it is 12:15pm which is LUNCH time. So I arrived there 20 minutes later expecting $35 for my lunch. Instead I get a bill for $61 and I'm totally shocked. When I found out that "whole order" means dinner to , and lunch is apparently what.......a "partial order"? I thought she meant a whole lunch. Then she lied and claimed that she asked me lunch or dinner. I had to correct her again and told her that she asked me if I want a "whole order". Then I asked her to show me the word ""whole" in the menu. I told her the menu says "lunch" and "dinner" but not "whole". So there we were in the restaurant with raised voices making a scene. So much for professional customer service. Now I understand that English being a second language can be a challenge; but the difference between "whole order" and dinner is quite a stretch. So whether it was ignorance or intentional I do not know. One thing I do know is that I am going to "whole" boycott Xin's for a few years. They should hire someone that knows English if they want to keep customers. p.s., Their lunch menu says that you also get some potstickers and something else with the entrees; ugh yeah NO! This place has great food but, the service is ABSOLUTELY AWFUL!!! Waited 10 minutes for someone to take our drink order then another 15 minutes for our server to bring it. Waited 20 minutes for our food to come by then our sake was empty. She finally brought our food and took off. Didn't even ask us if we wanted more sake. So after another 10 minutes was flag down another server to ask for more drinks. Basically long story short be prepared to wait and wait and wait for drinks and food. read more

This was a pleasant surprise! We were in the Ridgecrest/Inyokern area for three days, shooting a car commercial. Some crew members had eaten here the night before and even though my rule of thumb is 'never order ocean fish in a small restaurant in the desert,' Xin was okay--if fit the need. Staff was very friendly and the price was good. Oh, and the cocktail was okay, too. As with all things Yelp, take the star rating for what it is. Xin ain't the kind of Japanese food restaurant I'd frequent back home but, as I said, out in the desert it was an unexpected plus. It'll be my first stop next time I'm in the area. read more
