A true hole-in-the-wall location, came here with our friend, who highly recommended the Hainan Chicken Rice here. Note that I'm extremely picky about Hainan Chicken Rice, and am still in search for the closest to the Singaporean one & best in the SGV. So honestly, I was skeptical. The Rice flavor actually tasted pretty good, and had the right taste & texture, so that's a plus! Chicken was moist & tender, which is great...but it lacked the fragrant taste in my opinion. But it wasn't bad! The ginger & chili was quite tasty, just missing the dark soy sauce at the table. Overall, I could do this again if I'm in the area. I enjoyed the stir fried bok choy, and they had a tasty spicy cucumber salad. The combo also came with peanuts. There was only 1 person serving but she was efficient & fast, and friendly. Came in to order their combo #1 to go. They do have inside seating, but wanted something to pick up and enjoy at home. Didn't take long for them to prepare my order - less than 10 minutes. They packaged everything nicely and everything made it home with no mess. Combo #1 had more than enough to feed the two of us and we had an enough leftovers for another meal or two. I have never had deboned hainan chicken before, and my entire plate of hainan chicken was completely bone free. The chicken skin was absolutely delicious and soft, while the dark meat was juicy. This has got to be the best hainan chicken I've had! We enjoyed it so much, plus the price point is spectacular. Just under $30 for combo 1 which comes with chicken rice (2), soup (2), cucumbers and spicy peanuts for 2 people and a big shareable plate of hainan chicken. Love their sauces, mainly the ginger oil! Red sauce is ok. You can order more ginger sauce for extra 50 cents each. You scan the qr code to order. The restaurant is in the corner of a small strip mall, it's not small but definitely not large either. The menu consists of various hainan chicken rice plates, potato noodles and skewers, which we tried all of. Portions were solid, my coworker was particularly impressed with the broth of the potato noodles, skewers were decent. Service is spotty as there was only one person working the entire front of the restaurant handling takeout orders, the cashiers and seating people. If you're going with two people and both want the chicken rice, I suggest the combo over getting your own plates because it comes with cucumbers, peanuts, soup, and rice (which is usually add ons)! The dipping sauce was a little bland, and no "special" soy sauce to go with the Hainan chicken, just regular ones. The mouth watering chicken used the same type of chicken, but the sauce was also bland and lacked flavors for the chicken to be marinated in. I hail from SGV tho, so I do know that maybe it's not fair comparing this place to a SGV shop bc the bar is quite high. The chrysanthemum tea is marketed as self brewed, but I had the weirdest suspicion that it tasted the same as the jug you can get from ranch 99. Because I always drink them lol. The food was ready quite fast as well. There's plenty of parking as this is located in a plaza, so very convenient, and lots of seating indoors. However, that's where my compliments end. While the chicken was tender, the rice was clearly undercooked -- it was crunchy/hard, and wasn't flavored with the broth. The broth was also just so-so. Compared to places like Savoy Kitchen or Cluck2Go, I would not come here again for the Hainan Chicken. However, my friend ordered the potato noodles and enjoyed them. Their Hainan chicken rice was still flavorful, and the chicken meat was tender and juicy. We liked the texture and flavor of the Casserole Knife-Cutting noodles and the soup broth. However, both handmade potato noodles and knife-cutting noodles tasted the same, and neither had any meat inside. The handmade potato noodles tasted okay. The spot is in the corner of a plaza, parking isn't too difficult. There are tons of small to medium tables so you could go with a larger group if you're looking to do that. When you get seated, you're required to order via app which makes it quite easy. Unfortunately, the software doesn't show what other people have ordered so it may get confusing. Once the order is fired, they make it pretty quickly! We ordered a combo for the hainan chicken dish, I wish they offered enough soups for everyone but you have to order that additionally. The chicken was fantastic and made so well. The only thing I wish the rice had was more flavor, it didn't really taste like the traditional hainan chicken rice. The sauces offered were also pretty good. I opted in for an additional noodle dish that contained flat noodles, seaweed, and more. The spice was perfect and flavors were great.
