Food was good- I would order again the potato noodle and hainan chicken Skewers were supposedly fried. But the seasoning was a tad over, it was pretty salty. I would maybe try the fried veggies or squid next time Located in a small plaza with dry cleaning and a deli Good amount of parking Def will go back

Stopped by here on a weekday with a coworker when the work lunch roulette landed on this spot recommended by my Frontier technician. The restaurant is in the corner of a small strip mall, it's not small but definitely not large either. The menu consists of various hainan chicken rice plates, potato noodles and skewers, which we tried all of. Portions were solid, my coworker was particularly impressed with the broth of the potato noodles, skewers were decent. Service is spotty as there was only one person working the entire front of the restaurant handling takeout orders, the cashiers and seating people. Ordering is done on an app from a QR code on the table. Would definitely return.

Hainan chicken with rice. I'm normally leaning on the fried version but this was good.

They had a great variety of food. My first time and a friend said there specialty was the Hainan chicken rice. I think the skewers were unique too. Service was good. You ordered through the QR code menu online and submit. Food came out at a reasonablle time. The decoration is of the place was not meant to be fancy. But it fit.

This is one of those neighborhood gems you end up visiting again and again. The potato noodles were delicious with lots of ingredients, not just noodles. The Hainan chicken was tender, and the Changsha stinky tofu was crispy outside and soft inside. Everything was affordable, filling, and made with care. If you're looking for authentic comfort food around Walnut, I highly recommend giving this place a try!

I knew coming into here that I wanted the chicken rice combo. If you're going with two people and both want the chicken rice, I suggest the combo over getting your own plates because it comes with cucumbers, peanuts, soup, and rice (which is usually add ons)! The portion states that it could feed three, but I'd say two is more realistic. Regardless, I left super content. The soup has a gingery aroma, the rice cooked to absolute perfection, and the chicken was moist and firm!

Such a cute little spot! The potato noodles were super chewy and fresh, and the chicken bone broth was warm, rich, and sooo comforting. Definitely add a fried egg because it soaks up all that yummy soup! The Hainan chicken rice was also delicious with tender chicken and fragrant rice. We also tried the fried skewers and stinky tofu, both crispy and flavorful. Everything tasted fresh and the portions were generous. Can't wait to come back!

The Hainan chicken is very tender and cooked to perfection. The rice is incredible even it's just rice. The restaurant's interior is very cozy, decorated with plants and Chinese-themed items. Ordering is easy with the QR code on each table, which is convenient. Combo #1 comes with two bowls of rice and soup, a plate of chicken, cucumber salad, and fried peanut. The rice is very fragrant and the chicken was tasty with the sweet and spicy sauces. We also tried the potato noodles. The potato noodles is very tasty. I will say the best one in LA. If you want to add more protein to the soup that's good. It is also good for the original recipe. I absolutely love the numbing, peppery flavor of Sichuan pepper in potato noodles.

This hole in the wall, authentic hainan chicken establishment simply blew me away. The chicken combo is more than enough food and the chicken is so tender. The rice with the flavor is knock your socks off. The potato noodles were interesting, not necessarily my thing, but it was definitely worth a try. The soup was good too. Small parking lot out front, and not too many tables but a decent amount. We came for a weekday lunch and it was full! Good service. Pretty clean.

The food is very yummy. Chicken meet very juices. The service also nice

This was my second time here and it is hands down the BEST HAINAN CHICKEN I've had in a while. Better than anything in the SGV. And the value is unmatched. Silky, dark meat only, perfect rice and temperature, great sauces. I am afraid that people will start flooding here and I will eventually have to wait for a table. But I must not be selfish and will share this hidden gem with everyone!

This was a small hole in the wall location, but the food was amazing. The Hainan chicken & rice and cucumber with spicy sauce was excellent. Definitely will return. Service is very courteous and prompt.

The Hainan chicken was tender and juicy, and the skewers were well-seasoned! The restaurant's interior is very cozy, decorated with plants and Chinese-themed items. Since there is no AC, the restaurant can get pretty hot. Ordering is easy with the QR code on each table, which is convenient. Service was excellent, the waitress was quick to bring us water and checked in to see if we had any questions. This spot specializes in potato noodles, skewers, and Hainan chicken. After much contemplation, we ordered combo #1, beef skewer, squid skewer, and pork tenders. Food came out in about 15 minutes. Combo #1 comes with two bowls of rice and soup, a plate of chicken, cucumber salad, and fried peanut. The rice is very fragrant and the chicken was tasty with the sweet and spicy sauces. The soup and sides were okay, but overall worth it if you planned to order 2 Hainan Chicken rice anyways. As for the skewers, the beef was a little tough, it didn't break apart easily. However, the pork tender was soft and came off the stick with no effort. The squid skewers was fine, though the portion felt unsatisfying. Overall, I would definitely recommend this location and will revisit in the future!

One of the best lunch spots in walnut! Their potato noodle is a classic with their skewers! Also love their hiNan chicken rice, a must order stable in this place!

This place happened to be on the way home, so we decided to give it a shot and I'm really glad we did. We ordered the lemongrass chicken and the crispy chicken, and both were excellent. The chicken itself was incredibly flavorful and cooked perfectly. The garlic rice was another standout! Fragrant, well-seasoned, and cooked just right. The plate also came with a small cup of broth, which was a nice complement to the meal, although it was a little mild for my personal taste. The only downside for us was the portion balance. A large portion of the plate is filled with raw cabbage, which makes the dish appear bigger than it actually is. While the rice portion was good, the protein felt a bit limited. We're also not big fans of plain raw cabbage, so we ended up leaving all of it behind. If it had been seasoned or lightly blanched, it might have felt more like a thoughtful side rather than filler. That said, the flavor of the chicken and the rice alone would bring me back. If you're looking for something quick and tasty, this is definitely a great stop. But if you're coming in absolutely starving, the portion-to-price ratio might leave you wishing for a bit more.

They have a nice variety of chicken items on the menu, some unique things like congee and burritos, and cane drinks with different flavors. There is a good amount of seats inside and a few tables outside as well. There's a cool mural on the wall in the dining area so it gives an artsy vibe. Doesn't seem like they are able to take your order person to person, you have to order on one of the the kiosks on the counter. We ordered the Mix Burd plate w/ 50% Krispy burd and 50% Classic Burd, Lemongrass Burd plate, and Classic Burrito. We also ordered the Honey BBQ Sriracha wings for an appetizer. Wings were great, sticky with a good amount of spice. I really enjoyed the ginger sauces that come with the dishes. The Classic Burrito was basically a Classic Burd plate in a tortilla. It was good, but I would prefer all those ingredients as a plate, as I like the ginger sauce with the chicken and when we put it in the burrito, sauce was just dripping through to the bottom and made a big mess. The lemongrass Burd was our favorite as it has the best flavor. The classic burd was tender and poached perfectly, but the Krispy Burd was a miss for me, it was the least favorite of everything we ordered. Instead of being Krispy, it was so hard and difficult to chew. I would just stick with the lemongrass and classic Burd.

Because of how nice it looked from outside and inside! Parking was easy but I can see it being difficult if you come during peak hours. Inside was beautifully decorated and clean! We put our name down and waited on the seats they had outside. Very conveniently they placed QR codes to their menu so you can start looking at what you want! My family and I are vegetarian but my future father-in-law does not eat onion and garlic for religious reasons. This makes things hard because majority of places rely on onion and garlic for the aromatics! But we saw that Basil & Co was able to accommodate this for us! It makes me so happy! The staff here is so nice and patience and made sure to double check our orders so it wasn't conflicting with our diet! I got the Tom Yum noodle soup (with rice noodle!) my fiancé got their pineapple fried rice with fried tofu, and my future father-in-law got their pad see ew. We were able to share amongst all of us and my goodness, the portions are HUGE. We were so full and stuffed! I really enjoyed the Tom Yum noodle soup! I got it medium spicy (my group cannot handle it too spicy) and it was so good. I loved the sour and spicy and the bits of lemongrass in it really packed a punch! The pineapple fried rice was okay, a bit smokey for my taste and it has raisins with cashews! The pad see ew was yummy, sweet and savory! Price wasn't to bad for our 3 entrees, about $60ish But the portions were huge and the staff was so friendly. Would def come back again!

This is really not acceptable for a restaurant that is this popular, especially on a weekend. It's very frustrating as a customer who does not live nearby and can only come here every now and then. I was really looking forward to the corn salad the most, having had it in Thailand and not many Thai restaurants have it. What do I need to do to make sure the items I want to order are actually available? Come first thing at lunch? Having said that, service was good. Our poor server felt bad about not having so many of the menu items we wanted available and was so apologetic even though we knew it was out of his control. Wish I had gotten his name so I could give him a shout out. This time around we ordered the crying tiger (the menu items we wanted LAST time that they ran out of) and it was honestly just ok. I preferred the pork jowl. Edit: I really appreciate the response from the restaurant and obviously, I love the food so much I would still return. I will definitely call ahead and reserve certain menu items now that I know it's possible to do so.

The curry chicken is very good for its value. $16 for generous amount of chicken and its thick and juicy. The curry was good flavor on the sweeter side and had a good amount of spice (my level of choice was 2). The double matcha was also very good, they use Marukyu Koyamaen Rindou and the matcha flavor was strong enough to my liking. The cream top was thicker than other places I've tried in the area and had good matcha flavor. For the double matcha I went with Pure Matcha which is matcha with water + matcha cream top. The ambiance inside is like a tea shop, cozy, lots of tables without feeling like a restaurant but rather like a place to study. They had calm music playing when I was here. The Air Conditioner was also on and it was very comfortable to sit inside. I'd definitely come back. I think it's good value, the workers are very nice and it's good to support family owned.
