Solid chicken here, i like the different sauces they give you. Portions also not bad + its healthy. Definitely will be back

Came here for lunch to try the classic burd chicken rice and the 50/50 sugarcane drink! The chicken was cooked well, and the highlight to me was the rice which was very flavorful. The scallion sauce that is served with the chicken was ok, but I felt like it needed a little more flavor. The 50/50 drink was also delicious. I was interested in their other chicken options like the fried burd, and I am looking forward to coming and trying those. The staff here are nice and the food arrived quickly.

May I suggest you look at the menu before you go and it is cashless with that being, the food is excellent! It's so good nothing I've tasted before I got the chicken bowl and next time I'll get 2 ginger chile sauce it was so refreshing and addictive , cane Pom drink was amazing, everything made fresh from scratch, service is friendly and the ambience, definitely coming back

I am a Hainan Chicken rice freak. Enjoy eating fresh and healthy foods. Their Chicken is firm and juicy complementing with Ginger Scallions dipping sauce. Have tried lemongrass's and crispy's; my go to is the Classic Hainan Chicken. Service is fast and staff is friendly.

I was looking forward to trying this place and couldn't wait for the LB location to open up and instead drove to West Covina. I ordered online which was easy to do, but I was charged a 5% Online Platform Fee. It's a small restaurant with a few small tables and barstools. Not great for groups. No one was there when I was there around 5:30pm. Enjoyed the Hainan Chicken and Ginger Rice with the chili-ginger sauce. The chicken had some skin which tasted great together and was tender. The accompanying soup was delicious. The Bad - the Burd Bombs were very dry and tasted overcooked. Ordered the chili garlic chicken wing but it did not have any chili flavor so the name was misleading. Flavor was pretty bland. I'm not sure if I would come back to this location but I would be willing to give LB a chance when they open.

In the mood for chicken and something different, this is definitely the place to check out. For me, the chicken broth was bland and in desperate need of seasoning. The combo plate was okay, both the chicken and the rice needed seasoning and a sprinkle of salt. The chili ginger wings were strong in flavor and the bland rice helped out. The Cumquat drink was good. Not familiar with Cambodian flavors, not sure if these flavors were accurate. Customer service was good.

Dear Mr. Burd Rice. Me and my four friends got a recommendation to try out Burd Chicken Rice and decided to go with it. I had no issues with the parking and receiving the meal. The issues come from getting the food, expensive overall, small portions for the price (excluding the wings and lemongrass burrito that we ordered), and bland (including the burrito ). I got the krispy chicken and although it was crispy, it was dry and bland, one friend got the classic burd and noted the same bland taste but it wasn't dry. Second friend got the burrito, bland as well. Third person got some chicken broth soup and soy garlic wings, no issues there specically on the soup and wings. Overall, not good, although the pictures are as bad as the food. ($125.64 Final price)

    Classic Burd ($13.95)

Burd Chicken Rice (West Covina) is fresh, filling, and fast. I ordered the Classic Burd ($13.95). It's slow-cooked, dark chicken meat & fresh yellow rice; the meal includes a side of broth and chili-ginger sauce & ginger scallion sauce. The meal felt satisfying, clean, and healthy. I arrived at Burd Chicken Rice (West Covina) on Thursday (around 11:35AM). The location is busy yet efficient. There's two self-service ordering stations. Also, there's a counter where staff can take your order. (Quick Note: The Self-Service Stations requests a phone number; however, it's not needed. You can leave it blank and just hit "continue.") Staff is courteous and diligent. Staff regularly exclaim friendly phrases and offer help to customers. In addition, the food arrived ridiculously fast! It only took three minutes and 15 seconds!! The Classic Burd ($13.95) is filling. The chicken tasted clean and tender. By itself, there's no real flavor; however, it became much more enjoyable when dipped into the tangy chili-ginger sauce. The chicken portions are not huge, but it's a satisfying size. Personally, I enjoyed the fresh yellow rice the most. I loved how this rice tasted slightly fragrant and hot. There's also a self-service water station, and I genuinely enjoyed its crisp, chill, & refreshing water. Regarding ambiance, Burd Chicken Rice (West Covina) is clean and well-decorated. The art mural on its wall is gorgeous and vibrant. The tables are shiny and smooth. Also, the music is upbeat and enjoyable. If I were to nitpick, the location felt a little stuffy and warm. Overall, Burd Chicken Rice (West Covina) is a solid, affordable, & healthy option. The food lacks a memorable flavor; however, its food is fresh, clean, and filling. If local, it's a great option towards making a healthier lifestyle change. 4.5 out of 5

    Cracking Skins

Tried this place 3x but we usually do take out.. The chicken was tender and the rice had good flavor, though nothing really stood out as amazing. Portions were fair but pricy. The highlight would be the crispy skin. It's my hubby's fav. The first time was great generous portion, then second time was small and third time seems like they changed the to go boxes and the price went up! The vibe is casual and service was friendly, making it an easy spot for a quick bite. Sadly their closed on Sunday's

This place is located in downtown West Covina. There is usually plenty of parking. But can get busy towards the evening during the weekends because of the theater near by. When you walk in there are 2 kiosks and a register to order from. The staff is always super friendly. We came 2 times and they remembered us the second time! The dining area is pretty spacious and they also offer outdoor seating. I got the lemon chicken (not pictured) and my sister got the OG hainan chicken with rice and this hit so hard!! Rice and chicken were so flavorful and I also got a strawberry milk and it was also amazing! I've had my share of hainan chicken and this is top 3 for me! They also have friend chicken skin and fries which were also great! Definitely recommend!

I'm just gonna do a quick rating: Coconut Water and Sugar Cane Drink -- Solid 8.5/10 The Classic Hainan Chicken Rice -- a 7.9 / 10 The Chicken Skin Crisp -- a 4 / 10 Ambience: 9/10 clean & modern Service: 10/10 very friendly So I'll get right to it why I rated the crispy chicken skins that were recommended to me low. If you ever been to Hondaya, Ojiya, or any one of those old school yakitori places in Taiwan, usually Chicken skins are not fried per se so it was interesting trying out a fried version here. The skins in the above mentioned places are treated, stretched out grilled / charcoaled and rubbed with some yakitori / Sacha sauce to maximize texture and flavor. Here at Burd Chicken Rice, the Crispy Chicken Skins had a gamey taste, a little too gamey. It almost felt like the skins were tossed directly into the frier, not treated, and coated with pepper flakes, pepper powder, and some spices. It tasted like Fried Pork Skin, a little too greasy, a little overwhelming. So when you have Hainan Chicken which is steamed, boiled with Ginger, Rice Wine for pretreatment, the chicken itself is very refreshing, while the skins were the direct opposit of that. You can either coat the skins with curry powder marinade then fry, gochi berries rice wine marinade then fry, or 5 spices then fry then toss together with chilli powder and msg to give it a kicker Or if stand alone, a vinegar based sauce with more sourness and pepper salt would be a better compliment to the crisps. The Hainan Chicken itself was fairly decent, although this was the first time it was presented on a bed of cabbage. I'd wish there were more vinegar based pickled radishes or cucumbers to compliment the chicken. The meat was really tender, rice a little on the softer side, was overall decent; not WoW, but more like ya, if I'm passing by and I need to fill that void for Hainan Chicken, it's a yes.

Ordered Door dash delivery from this chicken rice shop the other day. It's been chilly and hubby caught a cold. So chicken rice was a good choice for him. We have tried chicken congee and two kinds of chicken rice. The food was so comforting and delicious. Portions were great for the prices. We will definitely order from this place again!

It's an ok place. The service is great. My chicken rice plate is pricy but needed to be more seasoned. Shoestring fries were great and the iced coffee is small. There is outside seating and plenty of parking

Ask the Community - Burd Chicken Rice

Hello, do you use any MSG in any of your chicken, rice, sauce or soup?

I believe one of the seasoning does contain.

Do you have gluten free options?

Unfortunately the sauce and some seasoning we used gluten.

Is there an allergen friendly menu (peanut/egg free items)? It appears most items are egg/peanut free, but what type of frying oil do you use?

No peanut or egg in our ingredients , We used canola frying oil. Let’s us know if you have any more questions. Thank you

Do you have a white meat (chicken breast) option?

Hello May, Thank you for reaching out, unfortunately We only serve dark meat.

Is this a full service restaurant? Or order/pay and food gets delivered to your table?

It's funny, because obviously I know what you're asking, but I went on a Friday night and although I did order at a counter and pay, I found the level of service to be really surprising, with the staff delivering my order to my table, checking in on…

Do you have outdoor seating? i have a puppy , is that allowed?

We have outside seating areas for your pets. Thank you

I really wanted to love Couwami Asian Fusion!…read more The small, family run restaurant cozily braided into a strip mall one block south of the 210 FWY on Azusa had piqued my interest when I'd ferried an Uber Eats order from there on SAT. Interest captured by the vivid scents wafting from the kitchen and the mostly positive Yelp reviews, I boomeranged back 24 hrs later to place my maiden order. I went with Shanghai Egg Rolls and the Yang Chow Fried Rice, but I'd asked them to substitute more chicken and Chinese sausage for the shrimp, as your favorite Yelp correspondent has never enjoyed shrimp in any form other than cocktails. The staff is exceedingly nice!!! Owner/proprietor JOSEPH and his wife skate around as balls of determined energy, but with welcoming smiles affixed to their faces. The prices are pretty reasonable- My tab for a generous multi-protein entree and appetizer was $19.34 including taxes. But can we please have a conversation about the flavors? Couwami partisans! Tell me-- Did your faithful correspondent order the wrong items?! My Shanghai Egg Rolls were undercooked, limp and flaccid. The flavors were solid but the texture was so off-putting and uncharacteristic for a typical egg rolls, that I could barely get them down. The Yang Chow Fried Rice was also undercooked- I'm used to fried rice that has a toasted, beigy-yellow finish with chicken or pork cooked to at least medium to medium well doneness. My entree was, as the picture attest, a faint ivory hue and I actually hadta toss it in my skillet for five minutes to toast up the rice and finish cooking the tendrils of chicken, which were served medium rare, a micro-degree above pink but with the unpleasant mouth feel of sushi. Not exactly the way you'd expect your proteins to be prepared! I'm a huge believer in redemption. And judging by the hundreds of 4.2 level reviews on Yelp, I suppose its possible I just caught the cook on a bad night or ordered the WDT (Wrong Damn Thing)...twice! I'd normally accord two stars but will bump this up to three based on the utter civility and decency that Joseph and his staff extended to me.

There were some bites that were creamy and some bites that weren't. I honestly thought it could use more cream or butter to add some more richness. The pasta itself was al dente. There wasn't much flavor overall with the dish, and the mala was very mild (for reference, I can handle medium spice levels at other restaurants). The seafood quality was okay for the price. Overall, the food was excellent, even my Asian parents, who can be pretty critical when it comes to Chinese food, gave most dishes high marks. The crispy noodles had great texture, the West Lake beef soup was comforting and flavorful, and the eggplant portions were generous. The service was what I'd describe as classic Chinese restaurant service. The waitress came across as a little rushed and occasionally seemed slightly annoyed, but she was still attentive and accommodated everything we asked for without any issues. Our food came out at a reasonable pace, and we never felt forgotten or had to chase anyone down. The atmosphere had its own unique charm. The restaurant was playing early-2000s hip-hop while a Chinese gangster drama played on the TV, which made for an unexpectedly entertaining backdrop. The restroom was also clean, which is always appreciated. My only real criticism is the sweet and sour pork. The batter itself was crispy and well executed, but too many of the pieces were mostly breading wrapped around bone with very little meat. It was the one dish I probably wouldn't order again. We were 1/3 parties so I'm not sure if it changes when it gets busy. There's plenty of parking.
